No wifi networks detected G5

Just installed the airport card for my powermac g5 2.3. It is recognized in the system profiler, however when configuring access to my wifi network it is not registering my network, on any of the wifi networks in my area. The Bluetooth part of the card works. What would I have to do to get it to recognize wifi networks? It is powered on and I have tried to reseed the card.

I have a late 2005 model with the internal antenna. Do you know if there is anything I need to hookup too the airport, or by internal it is inside the airport card (the antenna that is).

  • No Wifi Network Detection After 4.0.1 update-Loader Keeps Spinning on & off

All Mac addresses are there Bluetooth Wifi IESN etc, it shows WIFI is on but the circle loader keeps spinning trying to search for networks. No luck.
Ive tryed everything mentioned here, Restore, rollback to 3.1.3 OS reset etc.
The funny this is, the circle loader thing next to WIFI keeping spinning then disappearing. No networks are being detected.
Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Im leaning towards a hardware issue here,isO4 fried my wifi chip?
    Thanks,
    Joe-

    Joe,
    I have a 3G, 4.0.1.
I'm having the same problem with my wife's phone. It does not even detect the networks, just spins and spins and spins. I can set my phone (exactly the same set up as hers) right next to it and it sees all the networks with no problem. I have even restored hers with my settings, with no luck. I have searched everywhere and tried everything. I usually get stupid answers like reset your wifi, really, when it works on my two computers and my iphone? I've also seen the put it in you fridge for 10 minutes. I'm about to give up.
About the only real answer I found is that its a hardware problem. Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near an Apple store.

I have an Epson printer on a Wifi network. Windows 7 desktop is running the network, and my wife's HP Win 7 laptop prints to it just fine. My MacBook Pro running Yosemite won't detect it, and I do have the latest driver installed. I didn't have a problem when I had a Canon Pixma on the network, but when I replaced it with the Epson nothing seems to work. I go to add a printer to the queue and only the FAX function of the printer shows up - not the WS-4530 print function. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?  Please??? :-)

    Hi Kelly,
As someone who has to print from my Mac to a networked printer at home all the time, I can certainly understand how frustrating it must be to have that fail to perform as expected. Let's see if we can get you up and running.
I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

  • My iphone 4s is no longer detecting wifi since the ISO8 updates came out. I've restarted, rest the networks, reset the phone back to factory settings, and even tried the freezer trick. It is STILL not detecting ANY wifi networks. HELP!!!

My iphone 4s is no longer detecting wifi since the IOS8 updates came out. I've restarted, rest the networks, reset the phone back to factory settings, and even tried the freezer trick. It is STILL not detecting ANY wifi networks. HELP!!! I cannot afford to go over my data and I use wifi at home and work... I believe the updates have caused the issue, because it was working fine before the second update released (I hadn't put the first one one until I noticed it had stopped working, and by then the second IOS8 version had came out). They need to do a third update to fix this issue.

    If it's grayed out:
Reset Network Settings - if that doesn't fix it, then Backup and Restore AS A NEW DEVICE.
If it's still grayed out, unfortunately that means your Wi-Fi antenna quit, and it needs service.

  • Ipad2 is no longer detecting ANY wifi networks.

Hi, my 9 month old ipad 2 no longer detects ANY wifi networks. Was always logged on to our own home router and in settings was always able to 'see' neighbours wifi - now nothing shows. Is this a hardware problem?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

I detected one time networks with the trick (air plane mode on, power off, sim card out, power on, sim card in, air plane mode off...). since nothing. I think it's a software problem. suggestions ?

  • MacBook Pro Retina stopped detecting wifi network in one location.

Hey everyone, experiencing kind of a weird problem and was hoping someone would be able to help.   I was doing some studying at a Starbucks, connected to their WiFi network when randomly my computer lost connection to their network and was no longer able to detect that it even exists. I was worried this was some sort of problem with my wifi card as it could no longer detect any networks nearby, where as before it was detecting multiple networks in the area of the Starbucks. Oddly i was still able to connect to the network on both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Upon returning home I was relieved to find that I was still able to connect to my home wifi network. Since then i've been to many locations with my laptop but not once had an issue connecting to or detecting wifi networks, with the exception being at that Starbucks location. I've returned many times hoping that the problem would somehow fix itself, and that maybe it was just a problem with their network, but that doesn't seem to be the case. It seems to be that for whatever reason something happened to the MacBook pro while I was at that Starbucks location that has caused it to no longer detect the wifi networks there, and only there.  One possibility could be the I updated Mountain Lion to the 10.8.2 supplemental update while there, but I don't see how that would cause the problem. If anyone has any ideas as to a solution that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

I considered the network hog point, but I don't believe that I was using any excessive amounts of bandwidth. Also, because I can no longer detect any networks at the Starbucks location (not just the Starbucks network) I don't believe that this is the problem. Also, when I updated the operating system I was sure to disconnect from wifi first, I had already downloaded the update on my home network, just had yet to restart to install it, so my security shouldn't have been an issue either.  How exactly can I go about masking my MAC address so I could double check to see if it was the network issue?
Oh, also, I booted into Windows 7 via boot camp and for some reason Windows is also unable to detect any networks while at Starbucks as well, which is even more confusing.  I don't know if it's worth mentioning, but I bought this MacBook pro retina in Canada and am now in There UK for school. I've heard that north American macs don't play well with one of the network channels that is commonly used over here, so that also may play a role in all of this. But considering that I was able to consistently use their wifi for a couple weeks with no issue, I don't see how that could be the problem. As far as WEP encrypted goes, the network is unsecured so I don't believe that's the problem.
Thanks for the response, I appreciably appreciate it!

  • WIFI NETWORKS NOT DETECTED

I just bought an ipad 2 and at home in Paris (France) it worked fine. That means that it detects all the surrounding WIFI networks and connect perfectly on my personal home network.
I am now in Torino (Italy) and the ipad searches wifi networks and do not find any. My iphone and my Galaxy Ace (Samsung phone) instead find all existing networks and are able to connect to the one for which I have the password.
    What to do ?
    Merci
    Marc

If I could I would do but the wifi on which I want to connect is the Torino University Network and I cannot update its "firmware".
Also this does not explain why NO NETWORKS are detected while 10 are detected by my mobile phones.
It seems from the forum that the simplest action recommanded was to shut off the pad and then light it on again. I have done that without results.
What is the next simple action that I can do ? Go to an APPLE STORE ?

  • IPad2 not detecting wifi networks

my 3 month old ipad2 has stopped detecting any wifi network. It just happened all of a sudden, the device has iOS5.1. the internet worked fine till one dy when the battery dropped to 4%, i charged the next day and no internet since then.
I have tried resetting it, turned it on-off, erased all settings and then tried.
in the wifi options page, it just keeps on *detecting* networks, it doesnt't even say no network found or anything now.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! It is a great place to find answers and information!
For you to have the best experience in the HP forum I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide. Learn How to Post and More i understand that your notebook finds and displays many network but not yours but another laptop does locate it. One of the easiest steps to try is to reset the router by removing power for approximately 20 seconds and then reconnecting the power.  Give the router time to reset and come back up .  Does you network now show? If your network is set to 5.0 GHz try changing the setting to mixed mode or 2.4 GHz as that is the best selection for HP notebooks. Here is a link to HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8).  To say thanks for replying, please click the thumbs up icon below. If this overcame your difficulty please tell people by selecting solution provided to allow it to found with greater ease.  Best of Luck!
