No wifi on, No wifi on

MY iPhone says no wifi so I can't even turn my wifi on or off ! ?

I had this greyed out no wifi and no Bluetooth error on my Ipad 1 (just 2 years old).
I took it to the apple store and the genius said it was hardware related, and Apple couldn't repair it, but would swap it for £200 ! I found this ridiculous so I left (a little disappointed with Apple customer services for the first time ever!)
Just two weeks later (toda 2/9/12) the iPad crashed (hung on safari) so I powered it off and back on, it said I had to activate my iPad (I assumed it had lost everything) so I did and it picked up wifi! All working again. I had to restore from backup as iTunes was complaining It couldn't read iPad but after restore all is working fine!
Wifi browsing working and sync/iCloud all working again!
Anyone else heared of this?

According to Apple's customer service line you can return an engraved iPad for an exchange, but it's not clear if it's within 14 or 30 days. If you call they says 30, but their site says 14. I think it has to be purchased straight through Apple though. Contact where you bought it from and tell them you are thinking of buying a iPad and having it engraved, but are concerned about the refund policy. They'll explain it in more detail at that time.

Just out of warranty. This is a software issue. everything was ok until the software update. Apple just need to sort it out.

If a restore did not fix it, you have a hardware issue--possible bad wi-fi radio.

  • Wifi on or wifi off

What saves more battery wifi on or wifi off

    See:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

    No.
You cannot add 3G to the device itself.
You have a 14(?) day return period to swap it out.
You can get a device called a mifi, it's available on several carriers.

Are it's amazing what going to the apple classes can do for you, lol the problem was air play has turned off no doubt when the upgrades were done, but thanks to the training apple gave me I was able to reason the problem out yah! I love my apple.

  • My mac won't connect to my wifi. My wifi is working fine with iPad and iphone

My Mac Pro will not connect to my wifi yet my wifi is working fine on my iPad/iPhone.
I don't have a direct line where my mac pro is located.
My time machine is located next to the mac and I have tried stating up anew network.
    Help please.

I'm experiencing this problem as well. I've come ot the conclusion that my computer was one of the many that got internet connection cut because of malware since it just happened at miodnight (the 9th), though I have no idea how I would have gotten it. Any ideas??

  • Sluggish Wifi with 3G+Wifi Model

I've been using my Wifi on my MacBookPro for quite a few months and the speed was very good. Once I got my iPad (3G+Wifi) and turned on its Wifi, I immediately realized a very obvious difference in the network speed between its on my MacBook and on my iPad. That's the first problem but not as frustrating as the next one.
When I tried to open a YouTube video, it just didn't move with both Wifi and 3G on. I then tried to took 3G SIM out and loaded the video purely on Wifi. Initially it didn't load but given around 30secs, it ALMOST played smoothly but then NOT comparable with how it went on my MacBook.
    My questions are:
    1. I feel the 3G function is somehow conflicting with my Wifi, making my Wifi not or at least badly functioning. Is it really the case?
    2. Even with purely Wifi, the network speed is considerably slower than its on my MacBookPro. Why this is happening?
    Your help is highly appreciated!

First of all, the 3G function is NOT conflicting with your WiFi. Your iPad should choose which method it's using to connect, and my guess is that it was not connecting to your WiFi until you turned off the 3G. It shouldn't do that.
Depending on how your MBP is connecting to WiFi, you might see a speed difference, but not a "considerable" difference. Thus, there must some bottleneck in your connection. And given your story about the 3G, it's clear that you're not getting a good WiFi connection.
Since these WiFi issues can be so complicated, I would suggest you contact Apple by phone to diagnose your issue.

why can't i pick up any wifi networks? wifi capabilities still work on iphones, even without a SIM card-yes or no?

No one here can know why for certain, and yes.
If no change after resetting network settings on your iPhone and after restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem with the wireless card or something else.

Welcome to the Support Communities. The differences are spelled out here:

  • HT5205 what's the difference between wifi+4G and wifi-celluar?

i want to buy an ipad mini wifi+4G but there was wifi+3G and wifi+celluar. Do you guys have ipad mini wifi+4G or is it same with wifi+celluar.
If not can you explain to me wifi+4G.

4G or LTE as it is sometimes called has faster data speed than 3G.  Some place do not have 4G yet.  Cellular refer to either 3G or 4G.  I would check to see whether you have 4G available in your area and I would settle for wifi +4G because 4G is faster than 3G

Thinking of purchasing Time Capsule.... Can I access my documents saved on (Home Network) Time Capsule from another Network??? For instance, I can access my documents saved on MyBookLive (which is connected to my wifi) from ANY wifi connection... Like when I'm at school I can download documents stored on my MyBookLive at home.... I love this feature... But I would prefer to keep my products apple... So my question is can I access my documents from ANYWHERE with Time Capsule???
    Other products I have: MacBook (2009 limited edition it's aluminum) two iPad2 (2012) iPhone 5 (2012) two iphone4 iPod touch (2010) iPod Nano (2011)

Remote access to TC is allowed by BTMM and iCloud service.
Not for ipad or iphone.. only the Macbook although I think people have some work arounds..
NOTE. Your school firewall should block it. If I was still working in network admin I would. ie you are risking the whole network to get access to files unchecked for viruses.. and please don't just say Macs don't get viruses, you can still be the source of the infection even if you don't suffer the disease. Just a carrier.

  • WiFi Inverted and WiFi Invalid Channel Alarms

    Hi Guys;
I am after some help in trying to identify what WiFi inverted and WiFi Invalid channel alarms are, I have read the post which gives a good explanation:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11308356/wifi-invalid-channel-wifi-inverted-spectrum-expert
But I am wondering if anyone has any real world examples on what these could be? And if they could cause disruption to a network?

    jdw,
I agree with you there isn't much about it, and the references I found to it list it being disabled by default. I do have some additional humans that are True gods to spectrum that I am going to ping this off for you.  I'll get back to you later on..
    *** UPDATE ***
    WiFi inverted-
WiFi is encoded on the physical carrier using I and Q data – this is the relationship between phase, amplitude and frequency -
This link might hurt your head – but it explains what it is -
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4805
Spectrally inverted wi-fi is a wi-fi signal with the I and Q reversed – if you have a transmitter and a receiver both expecting this – you have an undetectable bridge – since normal wi-fi chips will see noise.
    Wi-Fi invalid channel -
wi-fi that is not operating on a standard channel – like 500 KHz off the center frequency for channel 1.  This is important since the specification allows for a certain amount of Lo (local oscillator) drift and says that you must be able to adjust 250 KHz +/- of center frequency.  But if more than  this in an OFDM rate – it is invisible – or beyond the modulation abilities of the modem.
This does exist in the wild – we have seen it in wireless audio equipment (sub woofer – using DSSS in 5 GHz not on a known channel – really messed things up)
I hope this helps clarify it, I can't take credit for this information, although it came from a truly knowledgable and trusted source..

My MacBook Air says it in connected to my wifi, but my wifi signal has a "!" sign on it. My computer will not allow internet access, help?

When you see an exclamation point in the Wi-Fi menu, from the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
Click the Assist me button and select Assistant. Follow the prompts. You may get a warning that Wi-Fi is not available, that you're too far from the base station, or that you're using the wrong password.
Assuming that you've ruled out those possibilities, restart the computer and try again. If there's no change, click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane and authenticate, if necessary. From the Location menu at the top of the window, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click  Applyand test.
If there's still no connection, and if you have control of the router, compare its settings to Apple's recommendations. Some third-party routers may be incompatible in 802.11b/g/n radio mode. Try setting the mode to 802.11n only.
