No WiFi when in Bootcamp with Windows 7

I have a MBP running Yosemite with Bootcamp running Windows 7 installed. My problem is that no matter how many wifi drivers I try in Windows I cannot get the wireless card to pull up any networks. It works fine in OS X - sees all networks and connects with a strong signal.
But when I switch to Windows here's what happens:
I can see the wifi bars down in the system tray but when I highlight and click it nothing pops up... When I hover the cursor over the bars it highlights and when I click it, the symbol depresses like its being pressed but no network list pops up at all... Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? I'm thinking it might be a compatibility issue between Yosemite and Bootcamp/Windows 7? I have downloaded and installed the latest bootcamp wifi drivers and still no go... Any help is greatly appreciated.

Based on Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Support the drivers for your MBP are Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621. Using the Bootcamp.xml file in the package, the version number is 5.106.199.1, but your screen shot shows 6.30.223.215.

One option you can try is to uninstall the current driver and reboot and ensure that the WiFi adapter shows up in 'Other Devices' (without any drivers). Install this version and test and post back your results.

  • Bootcamp with Windows 7 won't start with upgraded RAM

    Hello!
I upgraded my RAM from 4Gb to 8Gb.
OS X works fine but bootcamp with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 wont start. The screen goes black and white cursor is blinking at the top left corner. I have waited several minutes but nothing happens.
When I remove the ram I just installed, Windows 7 will start normally.

Are there any other options here? This is quite frustrating. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on my Bootcamp, and upgraded my RAM from 4GB to 8GB (bought Crucial RAM, which should be completely compatible). When I try to boot Windows, I get the blinking cursor hung. This is the ONLY thread I have been able to find that relates directly to this issue. I started to re-install Windows from the bootable install disc, but that tells me it will re-install Windows, and save all the old data in a volume called "Windows.old" and that I can access this data but "will not be able to use my old version of Windows." Maybe that's OK. Since I use my Windows partition exclusively for gaming and 3D sculpture work, I am pretty sure I can just pull all the appropriate data and re-install it in the new version of Windows. But I am leery of going through all this after reading the tale of woe told here that says that even re-installing with 8 GB RAM fresh does not work. Does anyone know of any other resources or options here? I can't even get to "Safe" mode - just a black screen and the blinking cursor.....arrrrgh! Any help greatly appreciated!

  • Bootcamp with Windows Vista

Does installing bootcamp with Windows Vista significantly slow down a mac with a noticeable difference? I have a pretty new mac and am thinking about using this function. Does it make more sense to install windows xp? And what is a good amount of space to leave for the windows side to have?

Does installing bootcamp with Windows Vista significantly >slow down a mac with a noticeable difference?
What do you mean by this? Slows down the whole system? Or the performance of windows?; since you mentioned XP on your later question.
I have tried both windows (vista & xp) on a macbook, and for performance, xp is faster.
as for the whole system (macosX & windows) no diffrence in boot up and speed
as for partition size of windows... that would depend on you whether your mp3, pics, videos would be used on windows or mac... mine is 20gb with no problem

  • BB 8220 Pearl Flip drops WiFi calls when synch music with Windows Media Player

I noticed the 8220 crashes or drops calls if I synchronize a playlist of songs with Windows Media Player.  Strangely, if I simply shuffle the songs with no playlist, then I encounter less problems.  Is this because I don't have enough room on the media card after synchronization?  (I set a playlist and sychronize it as there are certain songs I do not wish to place on my phone.)
I'm using: Windows XP, Windows Media Player version 11, Blackberry Desktop Manager version 5.0.1.

I'll try to answer to some of your questions.
The Media Card is according to the OS verison on the BlackBerry. The model doesn't really matter.
Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.4.xxx".
    Maximum capacities:
BlackBerry Device Software Media Card Size Limit
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 -- Up to 2 GB

  • Bootcamp With Windows 8.1 Virtualization Issues On Start

    Hi All
Ive just purchased a new 13 inch MBP Retina with 8GB Ram
I am a Microsoft Developer, specialising in mobile, so I installed Windows 8.1 on bootcamp, and am using windows this way 2/3rd of the time (I also use my MBP for OSX a third of the time)
When I go into Mac system preferences and restart as bootcamp, my Mac restarts in Windows with virtualization enabled, which is essential as I am running Visual Studio's dev tools including Windows Phone Emulators.
If I've booted into Windows via bootcamp (virtualization is enabled) and then do a restart in Windows, the virtualization is still enabled - great!
However, if I hibernate my Mac while in Windows, or shutdown windows (which is a form of OS hibernation with Windows 8), and then restart,  the virtualization is disabled, and my emulators will no longer spin up.
I have tried restarting windows via the bootcamp control panel in Windows, but that doesnt fix it.
The only way to get windows running with virtualization on is to boot into windows via the bootcamp option in Mac preferences - EVERY TIME, so I am stuck with doing the following every time I want to use my mac for windows development:
    1) startup in windows
    2) Using Bootcamp control panel restart OSX
    3) In mac system preferences retart Bootcamp
    4) start Visual Studio and emulators
Surely there must be a way of getting this to work seemlessly

    Folks,
If you scratch beneath the shallow Apple support surface, you'll find out that this issue has been around since 2008 (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=821551).
There's nothing wrong with Windows, and your hardware (Intel CPU that is) support virtualization. What Apple support doesn't tell you is that engineering has a bug with firmware that causes this. There's also a well known workaround, painful but workaround (http://apple.stackexchange.com/a/122071/106730).
What infuriates me is the fact that
    1. Apple support deceives and send people away by claiming there's nothing wrong (read "lies")
    2. Engineering knows about it and does very little to address it properly moving forward (read "ignores")
    3. Consumers that just accept this as-is because it's Apple (read "stupidity")
I'm vocal about it because it is unbelievable. It's 2014 outside, and Apple neither has a basic support tracking mechanism nor is transparent about what it's doing when providing support.

  • When dual-booting with Windows 7, Mac OSX time settings reset every reboot.

I have recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my mid 2010 MacBook Pro via BootCamp (Running Mavericks BTW). Everything runs grean and have not experienced any problems on the Windows side, but I have a problem with Mac OSX now. When I am using Windows 7, and I reboot into Mac OSX, I find that my time settings are wrong. It seems like my time zone has changed, because the date is correct, as well as the minutes, but the hour is always wrong. When I go to Date & Time in System Preferences, and my time zone is correct, but I still have to chage the hour in the time. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to stop it would be greatly appreciated.

If you dual boot your Windows PC with OS X or Linux, you may have experienced a problem in which your clocks reset themselves incorrectly every time you boot into Windows. Here's a simple registry edit to fix that.
Essentially, the incorrect clock setting happens because OS X and Linux use GMT time while Windows tries to synchronize with your local time zone, getting confused when you reboot between the two. Apple's own Boot Camp drivers for Windows are supposed to fix this problem, though some users have noticed that it still happens even with the drivers installed, and some Linux users are left out in the cold. Furthermore, if you have a Hackintosh, you can't install the Boot Camp drivers, so you'll need to find another way around the problem.
To fix it, just hit Start and type regedit.exe in the search box. Hit Enter and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation. Right click anywhere in the right pane and hit New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name it RealTimeIsUniversal, then double click on it and give it a value of 1.
Lastly, reboot into OS X, then reboot back into Windows. You should now notice that your clock actually displays the correct time.

  • Bootcamp with windows 7 pro 32bit playing call of duty 4 modern warfare

i hope that this topic is correct in this forum..recently boot camp with windows 7 professional 32bit and install call of duty modern warfare and run the game..when i play the game..everything run smoothly..however when i press escape and goes into the pause menu..my screen hangs there..i can't move my mouse..y is it so?anyway to fix this?however when i press escape back..it goes back into the game after some time..hope i can get some help here..thanks..: )

I have exact the same problem with COD4 and my iMac and thought I'm the only one so far. So I'm sure, it is not an hardware issue, but a driver issue (esp. since the bootcamp 3.1 drivers are really outdated). Installing the latest ATI mobility catalyst drivers (i.e., 10.6) helped me at least a little by making this screen blanking somewhat more rarely but didn't solve it completely. However, I guess we have to wait until Apple fixes the iPhone issues first until they can gather some resources to update the bootcamp ATI drivers from *NOVEMBER 2009*!

Is there anything that can be done and also could you start building your newer products with better performance parts.  (If it's not broke don't fix it). I want my iPhone 4 back lol.    I have done a hard reset to resolve my issue and I have checked my wifI signal side by side with other phones and I pad.  Please let  me know if anything can be done thanks you

  • Lion and snow leopard bootcamp, after installing lion snow leopard bootcamp with windows 7 does not boot

Just installed Lion OS  on my 2nd mac (on the 1st without an issue) but as I had a partition with windows 7 (installed with Snow Leopard bootcamp).
It seems that Lion OS renamed the Bootcamp partition but I am not able to rename it through OS.
Is there a solution for this or do I need to re-install?
    Many thanks for your help

Hi Jack.........ok ive managed to create a link to that video on how to install bootcamp.....this is the tutorial i used and i managed to gain 100% completion on bootcamp 1st time no messing......like i said in my previous reply did you save the windows support files from apple....(Critical).....ok no point in messing about i suggest you start again from scratch........these are the things i used and YOU will need to complete bootcamp
mem stick or cd-r / dvd-r......original copy disc of win 7 ...i never used an iso i used original disc....allow a minimum of 30gb of space for your win 7 partition.....if you want bootcamp so you can use big programs like windows based games i.e.....Crysis/Call of duty etc etc ..then you will need to consider that  you will need to allow a bigger partition to allow your HD to store the files.....this is the reason i installed bootcamp and so i made my partition    i have a 750GB HD so i made a partition of 300gb for windows 7 and left the other 450gb for Mac....so you need to partition enough for what you want bootcamp for remember once you get bootcamp working you will need to install ALL Important Windows updates Including Win 7 SP1......once everything is installed you will have bootcamp up and running lovely.....u can then boot up with either win7 or mac......click this link and watch carefully and do exactly as shown ok and you should be fine...if you have any probs contact me again ok.....let me know how you get on ok..:)...http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=QFIWtXTl4d0&NR=1

  • I am using bootcamp with windows 7, and always is showing me that there is no networks, it says I don't have a driver for the adapter; therefore i keep installing it, and suddendly windows 7 doesnt recognized it.

I have a Macbook Air 13" (mid 2012), recently i installed windows 7 with my original disk and code. I downloaded all the drivers via bootcamp assitant, however everytime the machine keeps disconnecting spontaneously from the internet, and keep saying that there is not driver for the adapter.
    What can i do???

I install it according boot camp instructions. My thunderbolt adapter used to work fine with windows 7, but suddenly windows 7 did not recognize the driver of the adapter, and each time i install it, happens the same.

  • "User Not Recognized" when installing UPK with Windows Authentication

    Hi all,
When installing UPK Server with Windows Authentification mode, everything work fine until when the installer starts populating the Library. I get an error message saying "User is not recognized. Please enter a valid administrator user name and password. Click OK to enter another name or click Cancel to stop the upgrade process."
I tried using "my current Window account" and different Windows account when asking to give a default Developer admin login during the install but I still get the same message.
I might be forgeting something this time since I have installed UPK tones of times and never got this error.
    Many thanks.

    Hello,
Thank you!! After much testing and environment and OS changes, I found out that I totally forgot my Windows administration from over 7 years ago on a security feature that Microsoft put into their OS's. If you are using a friendly DNS name to publish to your clients (instead of them typing in the server name as the URL) and you want to utilize Windows authentication, a registry entry will need to be entered in order for the OS to be allowed to pass the windows auth through to that URL as well.
    Example registry entry:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0]
    "BackConnectionHostNames"=hex(7):
    KB Article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861
In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0
Right-click MSV1_0, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value.
Type BackConnectionHostNames, and then press ENTER.
Right-click BackConnectionHostNames, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the host name or the host names for the sites that are on the local computer, and then click OK.

  • Arch does not show up in Grub when dual booting with windows 8

I just installed Arch linux, dual booting with windows 8 using the beginners guide[https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_Guide] itself. Now Grub is installed and i can only find Windows 8 and I cannot find Arch. Is there a way I can find if arch linux has been installed and show up in Grub.
Sorry, I am a newbie, but i chose to post this topic here and not newbie corner as it is installation related.
My windows 8 is installed on /dev/sda1 with ntfs partition type. Arch Linux is installed on /dev/sda6 and it is ext4 partition. I dont know if this info helps.  I am using Thinkpad R61

I am sorry, yes you are too late. I have wiped windows 8 and performed clean install. No regrets. And as a matter of fact, I did grub-config and then installed os-prober. That could be the problem. Thanks. I will try this again another time.

  • I installed bootcamp 5 for my late 2012 iMac 21" and installed the latest version of windows 8, however when i boot with windows i dont get any sound, what can i do to fix this?

I'm trying to playa game called day z (not sure if many are familiar) through boot camp 5 and the newest version of windows 8 it's pretty much a must to hear everything going on around me and I can't exactly do that when the sound drivers aren't working. I've updated all of my software and still nothing is working. If anyone has a link to the newest windows 8 sound drivers it'd be greatly appreciated. Or if you have any other solutions it would be greatly appreciated!

I'd recommend reposting in the Boot Camp forum, with a few exceptions most people on this forum only speak OS X. That forum can be found at:
