No working sound just loud screaching, crackle b

Hello all,I just purchased a X-fi and after getting the drivers installed I plugged in the speakers and I get? an extremely loud screeching/hiss/distortion sound. I tried several high quality headphones and speakers from another computer and they all do it. At one point after hitting the default button it went quiet with just a very very high pitch ringing. Through all this there is no intended sound coming through the speakers. I ask if this is the crackle bug that is so discussed because I hear people there talk about playing music over it and it is tolerable. But with mine, the noises are too loud to even put on headphones with on the lowest volume settings. System is:550 watt hyper power supplyabit KN9 Ultra Motherboardgig of ramX-fi extreme gamerradeon x900 videocard

I've a similar issue. I have exactly the same effect, however without doing anything but recording an old record of mine. The recording reliably produces a loud click deadening first the right at 45s and later on a second loud click deadening the left stereo channel at ~120s. Afterwards all audio output on the machine es dead producing nothing but "click-click", regardless of the type of the audio output (MP3 file, system sound, etc.).
More interestingly this effect carries over to exporting the recording, i.e. when i export this to an aac file the clicks & the deadening are transferred to the exported file! This results in a 45s stereo, then further 35s left channel only and then a rest of the file completely silent.
So far i've no idea how to solve this. Any further ideas appreciated.

Dv9000 speakers making loud static/crackling sound!

My dv9000 laptop speakers started making a weird sound, like a combination of static and crackling. It almost sounds like the sound effect they use in the movies when they show a crackling live electrical wire. The sound is loud enough that I have to mute the speakers to even use the computer because it is so annoying. If I raise or lower the volume the sound changes accordingly. The sound is there when I hook up external speakers also.
Any ideas????

tried headphones, and the sound just gets transferred to the headphones. So I cannott use audio at all. I checked Conexant High Definition Audio under the Sound Video and Game Controllers section of Device manager, and it says the device is working properly

Have you tried restarting your iPad? Press and Hold the Power Button and Home Button for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple Logo on the screen, and then when you see that, you can release both buttons and wait for the iPad to finish booting up. Once it comes back up try your sound again

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

HP Pavilion dv6-6117dx - Sound just stopped working

Listened to a video earlier, then went to listen to another audio type file and the sound was gone. Was not experiencing any issues. Sound just disappeared at some point. Volume is not muted anywhere. Please help.

Hi,
Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

Music & videos also play with the headphones in, but if I want to watch a video or listen to music without headphones it will not make a sound, even though these things display they are playing on the screen.... does anyone have any ideas.

Have you looked at the Ring/Silent switch on the side of the device? It may have been moved to the Silent position.

When I play video clips from websites like Prescreen the sound is loud enough to hear w/out headphones. When I play my own professionally mastered video I have to wear head phones to hear loud enough. Is there a trick in Compressor or other software?

The Nokia 3720 classic is a IP54 level water,
Not even close to good enough, LCD screen will crack, water will go in through the jack/charger ports..
The phone i describe has no external ports just 4-5 little pins which can't let water in or out of the device, the docking station will connect via these 4 - 5 pins for data transfer and recharging...., IPX8 standard, all the electronics are epxoyed with a glue to stop real bad shocks from drops and bangs, along with a silicon case and all the other preventative meausres means this little phone is going to outlive you.
in combination with heart rate external bluetooth connection, really what more could you want... only the Sonim comes close in terms of perfection but if it managed to pack all of above, then it would be simply wow... I don't think there's enough people who work for nokia who actually go camping, backpacking, hiking, i'm pretty sure that if i told them one day

iTunes STORE not “connectable” with my otherwise perfectly-working internet connection, viable, up and running for all other uses.
Simply put, firstly, I can't connect to the internet when I click on Radio. People are quite suspicious that this is Apple incompetence or your company's famous arrogance for this commonly-suffered problem that you won't or “can’t” fix.
Read the many web comments and you won’t be pleased with yourselves: the suspicion is that if you ruin internet radio on iTunes, Apple will somehow make more money on music downloads, etc. Bull.
Also, thirdly, my old playlist of 20 or so internet radio stations in the Ambient category STILL PLAYS !
Then fourth, I installed the latest available version of QuickTime Player 7.app Version 7.6.6 but it didn’t solve the problem either. I had QuickTime Player.app Version 10.2, but substituted what Apple website said was the latest, LOWER NUMBERED QuickTime Player version of 7.6.6
Fifth, I can't connect to iTunes store no matter what I do or what user group's advice I try. So I can’t buy or download anything from iTunes. Bad for business.
Sixth, I updated to the latest version of iTunes but this weird problem remains. All suggested Apple fixes or user group fixes are useless. Where is Apple’s famous technical competency, vaunted customer support?, and user-friendly product reputation? Get it back, please.
Solve this problem of yours ASAP for us, your numerous disgruntled, dissatisfied customers of iTunes. You can do better, should, and really –in all fairness- must.

Apple ACCOUNT ID, and iTunes ID password, works but not to access iTunes with my healthy internet connection.
Apple store id It works via direct internet connetion but not through iTunes. Very strange.

Lion's Boot Camp Assistant 4.x should have downloaded Apple drivers as part of also partitioning.
You need Apple drivers. And you then need to add on your own audio driver.
You can run Assistant at any time to download and save a set of drivers.

When did you first notice the loss of sound?
Are you using speakers, a headset ect.? If so have you tried another?

Mic Mute Hotkey doesn't work, Sound Mute Button won't change its color [Windows 10]

Hello everyone,
I recently did a clean install of Windows 10 x64 on my HP Probook 450 G1 (E9Y30EA), and after installing drivers I noticed when I turn off the sound, my Mute Button won't change its color to amber (or orange, yellow, whatever), as it did in Windows 8.1 and 7.Also, another thing that's not working at all is Microphone Mute Hotkey (fn + F8). It neither turns off the microphone, nor lights up its LED. I have the latest version of HP Hotkey Support driver installed (7.0.13.1), HP Quick Launch Buttons, HP Wireless Button, installed, .NET Frameworks 2.0 and 3.0 etc.. everything is up-to-date, but it's still not working as it should. Microphone muting just doesn't work at all, and pressing (sound) Mute Button does mute sound, but its light stays white, so I often don't know whether I had the sound on or off with the glance of an eye as I used to. On the other hand, HP Wireless Button works normally, and it changes its color to amber when I press it to turn on Airplane Mode. TL;DR: Microphone Mute Hotkey doesn't work; Sound Mute Button does work, but its LED doesn't work. Is there anything I can do to fix that, or is it just a problem with driver incompatibility that would be fixed in some of the next updates? Or is it something else, like Windows 10 issue or audio driver maybe?

Hi,
First download the sound driver using the links below and save the installer to your Desktop.
Audio Driver - Windows 7
Audio Driver - Windows Vista
When the download has completed, right click the installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation - ignore any warnings you may see about this being an earlier version. When the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

Sound just disappears in Wind

I just recently formated and installed the drivers found here for my Soundblaster X-Fi XtremeMusic along with everything else needed (Drivers for gfxcard etc.). But today, whenever I start a movie, my sound just disappears. When I try to go to my volume tap, it says that there is no mixer present.
I look in my Device Manager but my soundcard is still there and absolutely nothing wrong with it. The normal sounds from Windows works fine (Ding, etc.) and this problem persists until I reboot but will then come back if I begin to watch a movie.
This didn't happen before I formated so I find it a tad odd.

Hey i have the same issue. I have a brand new 2G itouch.
I can be listening to music and out of nowhere it will stop playing sound. It shows that music is still playing but no sound is going through. I unplug the headphones and try the external speakers and still nothing. Then i try the headphones again and once again, nothing.
Just today it did it so i turned it off and back on. Less than a minute into it, it did it again. And before that i had reset it a few days before in hopes of resolving this issue.
The sounds for everything else will work. If i push the sleep button it makes the sound, keyboard sound works, every other sound will work when this happens, but not the music.
This is honestly depressing because i expected so much more out of this product. It will work for fine short periods of time just fine but this is just extremely inconvenient. I did expect more especially for apple being the company they are and how much i did pay for it.
Everything is up to date. I constantly check for updates so this nuisance can just disappear.
So any resolutions to my problem?

Project was playin fine last night, now no sound just clicks

I was working on something last night and it was playing fine, although my G4 was taking alot of strain. Now this morning when I load up the track i get no sound, just a click when push play and stop.
I am able to play the sounds from the midi channels but I have noticed there is no signal coming through my main outputs?
All my other projects seem to be playing fine.
Any ideas??

Try choosing system audio instead of your audio hardware just in case it's that which is locking up.

Okay I have been unable to find anything on these forums about my problem. So I am posting to see if anyone has had a similiar expereince. I will list my specs to refer to.
My system is as follows:

Okay my problem is I am playing games usally HL2 and now Oblivion and It will play perfectly fine for a time and either one Freeze with a sound squeal requring reboot. Or the sound will decrese to crackling and then to High Pitched squeals and hiss's, which make me rebbot and all's fine agian.
It dosn't happen listening to MP3's orw while just browsing. Only in games. Any help would be appreciated.

Try uninstalling all your Norton applications and follow by cleansweep your sound card software/driver. The steps to cleansweep your sound card can be found with this Knowledgebase article SID72. After you have done both, install the sound card driver/application first using the installation CD. Ensure that the sound card is function fine. After which, install your Norton software.
