No Workshop in Solaris Weblogic 7.0 installer ..

Dear all !
I just wanted to inform
you, that the installer ..
bot the net.. and the package
installer don't
work as expected ..
I had the complete Platform 7
file downloaded .. make a custom
install .. click WL Server .. like
mentioned here ..
"...choose Custom Installation and select
WebLogic Server, which includes WebLogic
Workshop."
I did so .. but their is no
workshop directory under weblogic700 ,
like it is the case on our linux box ..
Really strange .. what should I do
to get the workshop too installed ?
Thanks !
     Frank

I am having the same problems as Frank described. We're trying to install Platform
7.0 on Solaris 8, but the "workshop" directory is not being created. Has anyone
been successful in installing it into this environment?

Seems indeed for me that he is missing

Can anyone give me an advise
you can I get the workshop
on my solaris box ?

    Any ideas?

    Sometimes, it's just easier and faster
    to just start all over and re-install,
    particularly when you have only a fresh install on your system.
    This time, do not choose to include all the optional "documentation"
    (that's what is held on CD5).
    I have never found a reason to ever read that documentation so I stopped installing it.
    ... or you could download and burn a copy of CD5 and use it when prompted.

  • Solaris 11.2 x86 installation problem on GPT partitioned SSD

    I recently bought a new computer with Windows 8.1 pre-installed on it. I want to install Solaris 11.2 as dual-boot together with the pre-installed windows 8.1.
    The computer has a 128 GB SSD which is GPT partitioned. The SSD has 5 GPT partitions which are in use. I used a partition manager in Windows to shrink the size of the 5th partition (the windows system partition) so that i now have about 31 GB of unpartitioned, unused space after the 5 used partitions where i want to install Solaris into.
    For installation, I downloaded the Solaris text installer ISO and burned it onto a CD-R. Now, whenever the installation menu shows me the GPT partitions of my SSD and i choose "Use a GPT partition of the disk" it always goes back to the first menu screen where it says "Welcome to the Oracle Solaris installtion menu".
    Also, the installation menu shows the 5 used GPT partitions correctly, but then it shows me not one, but two partitions as "unused" with a size of 0.0 MB.
    What am i doing wrong?

    If you have support, then you will be better served by opening a support case.
    Assuming you don't, or you would have gone there already... There may well be bugs with supporting multiple OS's under GPT partitions.  I have no idea how much testing we did for such cases, and to be totally honest we put little effort into dual-booting systems these days, as using VM's in VIrtualBox or other VM managers is a better answer for 90i+% of people.
    That said, posting the output from prtvtoc for the disk would give someone a chance to see if there's an obvious bug.

  • Solaris 10 U6 jumpstart installation always goes into interactive mode desp

    While doing the Solaris 10 U6 jumpstart installation, it is going into interactive mode for netmask.
    This is the sysidcfg file configuration being used :
    bash-3.00# cat /export/home/iserver/jumpstart/donau1/sysidcfg
    system_locale=en_US
    name_service=none
    network_interface=ce2
    {hostname=donau1 netmask=255.255.252.0 ip_address=10.50.57.24 protocol_ipv6=no default_route=10.50.56.1}
    security_policy=none
    terminal=vt100
    timezone="MET"
    timeserver=10.50.57.214
    nfs4_domain=dynamic
    root_password=5YcgZqC0krYjo
    bash-3.00#
    Here the network interface specified is "ce2" and the netmask is as shown above. Still, we observe the problem all the times.
    and I have seen the following messages on the screen
    Attempting to configure interface ce3...
    Skipped interface ce3

    Search complete.
    Discovering additional network configuration...
    Completing system identification...
    after this it is going into interactive mode and prompting for netmask . After providing the netmask, installation goes through successfully.
    so please suggest me some solution to avoid it going into interactive mode.

    I have seen this too over the years and it ultimately comes down to something innate:
    Here are a few suggestions:
    1. Try and use interface ce0.
    2. Check default route on both jumpstart server and client.
    3. The arp cache may need to be flushed on the Jumpstart server.
    4. Use snoop and see what happens during the actual RARPing phase between the server and host.
    5. Switch the order in the sysid config file as indicated below:
    system_locale=en_US
    name_service=none
    network_interface=ce2
    {hostname=donau1  ip_address=10.50.57.24 netmask=255.255.252.0 protocol_ipv6=no default_route=10.50.56.1}
    security_policy=none
    terminal=vt100
    timezone="MET"
    timeserver=10.50.57.214
    nfs4_domain=dynamic
    root_password=*****************
    Please note I blanked your root password. Let me know if this helps.

    A<SYNCH-12> (by Adam Fitzgerald): No, Web Services in WebLogic Server 6.1 are different
    from those available in WebLogic Server 7.0. WebLogic Workshop is a WLS 7.0 tool.

    Rick,
    You may want to look at the Alteon and F5 configuration we have on edocs.
    Take a look at the following URLs for a possible solution

  • Installing oracle9i on solaris 10 but the installer cannot execute

    I was trying to install oracle9i.2 on solaris 10 but the installer cannot execute. Here is the exact error returned by the system " ./runInstaller: ./runInstaller: cannot execute. Can somebody help me out

    Did you check the file execute properties?
    oracle@test:/.../oracle/../..>ll runInstaller

  • No workshop installed with Solaris WLS 7.01 installer ..

    Dear all !
    I justed installed a fresh WLS 7.01
    on a Solaris 2.7 box ..
    and i faced the same problem
    as I already had with the full
    installer for wls 7.0 ..
    Even if I click custom .. and
    click on all three parts, means
    also make the click for the workshop
    I didn't get the workshop
    installed .. what can I do to
    get them installed ???
    Thanks !
         Frank

    Hi Wayne !
    >>
    $ ./platform701_solaris.bin -mode=console | tee screenoutput.txtI used now a fresh file .. just downloaded from bea ..
    ls -l server701_solaris.bin-rwxr--r-- 1 xxx xxx 134964352 Oct 7 13:35 server701_solaris.bin*
    And made the same command like you ..
    As you could see here .. no workshop is
    installed :
    cd bea701b/weblogic700
    /usr/<something>/bea701b/weblogic700
    ls -ltotal 8
    drwxr-xr-x 6 xxx xxx 512 Oct 7 13:46 common/
    drwxr-xr-x 4 xxx xxx 512 Oct 7 13:47 samples/
    drwxr-xr-x 6 xxx xxx 512 Oct 7 13:46 server/
    drwxr-xr-x 2 xxx xxx 512 Oct 7 13:48 uninstall/
    I attach you the whole conversation at the end ..
    The question whihc are open :
    a) Contains server701_solaris.bin the workshop yes or no
    a1 ) if yes, why is he not installed
    a2) if no .. is the webpage wrong , which states that
    the workshop comes with the server .. and the
    install routine say this too
    b) Does the installer have problems if other bea-homes exist
    on one system
    Really strange the whole thing, isn't it ?!
    Thanks for the help !
         Frank
    BTW .. what you can see at the end ..
    Congratulations! WebLogic Platform 7.0.1.0
    has been successfully installed to
    /usr/<something>/bea701b/weblogic700.
    The installer does not reflect really what I'm doing ..
    ( I installed weblogic Server not weblogic platform .. )

  • WebLogic 6.0 Installation error in Sun Solaris 2.6

    I tried to install the evaluation copy of WebLogic App Server in a Sun Solaris
    2.6 box and when I run the installer, it stopped because a symbol in a xomEuro.so.2
    file was not found.
    The installer stopped and showed an error similar to:
    ../usr/openwin/lib/locale/iso8859-1/xomEuro.so.2: _XlcCompileResourceList: referenced
    symbol not found
    I will very glad to know what was the problem and of course, how to solve it.
    Thank you very much

    location? Are there any other suggestions?
    Also, from the documentation, the "AddModule" command for weblogic is not

    This is a known problem. It will be fixed in sp1.
    For now, you need to add "DebugConfigInfo OFF" to httpd.conf.

  • Installation on solaris Weblogic 6.1

    Hi All,
    Sorry I don't have much Solaris experience. As a matter of fact no previous unix
    knowledge.
    Can anyone tell me out to direct Weblogic to install at a particular disk device
    other than the default one.
    Thanks in advance
    Joe

    Can anyone tell me out to direct Weblogic to install at a particular diskdevice
    other than the default one.
    When you run the installanywhere GUI just point it at a mount point that is
    a seperate disk device. For instance, if "/" is mounted from
    /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0, and /opt is mounted from /dev/dsk/c0t3d0s2 - just tell it
    to install somewhere on /opt.
    Its important to remember that unix doesn't use disk "letters" - there's no
    such thing as A:, C:, D:, etc. There's only one root directory (hence the
    name "root"), and all disks and partitions ("slices" under Solaris) are
    mounted as subdirectories of "/".

  • Developping under wl8.1+workshop, deploying under weblogic 6.1

    Hello,
    As soon as my customer is using a weblogic 6.1 server,
    i wondered weither it is possible or not to use Workshop and weblogic8.1 on Dev Stations and efficiently beneficiate of Ant technology to deploy under a weblogic 6.1 server.
    Does any of you ever try such dev case ?
    Thx by advance

    Hi.
    You need to do 1 of 2 things to get WLS to notice it has a new webapp component:
    1. undeploy and deploy the webapp or
    2. use the webapp component refresh tools as follows:
    java weblogic.management.tools.WebAppComponentRefreshTool [options]
    running this with no options prints out a usage message.
    Hope this helps,

    I downloaded Weblogic 6.1 under Red Hat 7 and ran the console installation. Then
    I created $WL_HOME/config/mydomain/applications/DefaultWebApp/test.jsp as follows:
    <html>
    <head><title>Hello World</title></head>
    <body>
    <% String hello = "Hello"; %>
    <%= hello %> World!
    </body>
    </html>
    Then I put the url in my favorite web browser and saw the "Hello World!" page.
    Next I changed test.jsp to have the following:
    <html>
    <head><title>Hello World</title></head>
    <body>
    <%= hello %> World!
    </body>
    </html>
    I then refreshed the url with my favorite browser.
    The expected behavior is a compile error in test.jsp because the variable "hello"
    is not defined. However Weblogic gives no indication of the compile error and
    sends the HTML output of the previously compiled servlet. I have tried this with
    both the Windows and Solaris versions and I get the compile error as expected.
    My question is this:
    Is there a fix for this yet? If so, then from where do I download it?

  • Weblogic 6.0sp2 - installation issue

    Problem Description:
    Platform: Solaris 2.8
    Version: Weblogic 6.0sp2
    I have a permanent license file, with the expiration date = "never" for
    all the components.
    When I was installing WebLogic6.0sp1, put my license.bea file in the
    weblogic installation directory, and it was succesfully picked up by the
    installation program ( I have libproxy128.so and other ssl-domestic
    plugins were installed in ~/lib/solaris directory, because of
    SSL/Domestic component of the our license).
    I did exactly the same thing and attempt to install weblogic6.0sp2.
    1 . license.bea file was prepended by the temporary license components.
    2. license_new.bea file with the temporary license components appeared.
    2. ssl128 plugins were not installed.
    How can I install SSL/Domestic related components?
    Any help will be greatly appereciated.

    There is a Sun bug (4389589) that says you need the new JDK 1.2.2_007 to run on
    the P4 (it's one of the specific fixes in list for the JDK). I don't have a P4,
    but if you try to use this newer JDK and it works, can you let me know?
