  • Using extensions without having write permission to ext directory

I'm trying to deploy a servlet and I need to use a Java extension so that I can get a dll required by one of my libraries into the Java path (the dll is packed in a jar). The problem, however, is that the user of the client machine is not guaranteed to have write permission to <jre>/lib/ext. Is there a way that I can specify an alternate directory for the jar to be placed in that the client user's permission will allow (e.g. Temporary Internet Files, Temp Directory, in the home directory, etc.)? Alternatively, is way to get the dll uploaded to the client machine without using extensions? Requiring the client user to manually install the file is not an option.
    Thank you.

    I solved this Problem myself!
It is possible to give permission on status transition. That was what i was searching for!
    Thanks!

  • I cannot access iTunes on my desktop.  Works fine on my laptop.  Message says "The iTunes Library .itl is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission."  The disk is not locked.

I cannot access iTunes from my deskyop.  Worked great until a couple of days ago, then I now get the message that "The iTunes Library .itl is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file."  I have not turned on any parental controls on the desktop.  I have reloaded iTunes several times.  No luck.  I've run virus scans several times.  No luck.  I've restarted & tuned off the computer several times.  No luck.  I've uninstalled iTunes then reinstalled several times.  No luck.  Any thoughts?

To solve this issue all I did was check to ensure that the file permissions were set as described by the earlier posts, followed by simply deleting the iTunes Library Genius.itdb file.  Once the file was deleted I was able to open iTunes without difficulty.  Note that I am running Windows 8.  Hope this helps!

  • I can't launch itunes says it's on a locked disk and I don't have write permission for the folder, how do I fix this?

I can't launch itunes on PC it says it's on a locked disk and that I don't have write permissions for the folder. So how would I go about fixing this, any information would be helpfull.Cuz' I wanna transfer stuff from my PC to my Ipad and understand You have to go through itunes to do that.

The path C:/documents and setting/...iTunes.msi cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product iTunes.
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • How to write files to the filesystem with portal/plsql

    Hi,
is there a way to write files to the filesystem via Portal?
Or can i call an external programm (perl, php) to do so, while portal writes further information to database?
    thank you for the help
    Ralf Schmitt

    Hi Ralf,
my primary task is to publish download-links to files stored ... somewhere as a linklist. I tried to store and download files to/from the database but i cant get it to run. Upload works, download doesn't.
(i'm not talking about a single form-query-download-link! I need a report-like linklist)If you want to do this you'll have to write some code but sure it's possible - i did it myself.
The links in the link list in your report should call a stored function retrieving the files from Wwdoc_document or whatever is the document table defined in your DAD. Simply select BLOB_CONTENT into a BLOB variable from the table, provided you know what file to read :-) The function would then read the BLOBs and send them to the client's browser via DBMS_LOB - it's poor design but it works just as smooth as it could and it's really performing. This would simply display the file into your browser or prompt for file save location, depending on what browser you are using and its client settings.
I guess this is not so clear, if you want some more details feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]
Another way would be to use wpg_docload to both download and upload files to/from the DB.
Now i try to figure out if it is possible to store the files to the filesystem and write only additional info like description or path into db.Again, yes, it is. I can't recall exactly how I did it ^_^ but the trick is to create a virtual directory in the DB - pointing at a physical directory on the file system you want to write to, and you have to have full read-write permission on the directory itself, and its path must be included in the utl_file_dir database parameter. Then you use both COM Automation or UTL_FILE to write files.
would it be possible to let a portal-form write info to the db and then pass the file to a php-script?
    regards,

  • I've just opened iTunes on my Mac with an error "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.". I created a shirred library so that all users on my Mac can access the same library. Help?

I have just opened ITunes on my Mac and the following error occurred "The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file.". When I setup my Mac I created a shared user area to contain my ITunes library so that I could share it with another user logged onto my Mac. However the error above gives me the impression that the library file is locked... I've checked and it does not seem to be locked under the "get info" fie information. Has anyone come across this before and found a solution?

You also need to make sure you have both read and write permission for the file, or for the whole iTunes folder for that matter.  That's also done in Get Info for the file or folder concerned.

Trash the preference files while application is NOT Running.
Easiest way to find out if this is the problem is by:
    • Create a new User-Account
    • Log out of Your old one and into this
    • Re-try iMovie
If it now works OK - then 99.9% the problem is iMovie pref. file that needs to be trashed.

  • Forte WS6U1 - Search path SunWS_Cache directory needs write permission

Forte 6 U1, needs write permission to search path SunWS_Cache directory.
When I build a file locally checked out from the baseline directory, and the baseline SunWS_Cache directory needs write permission.
    Lets say,
/home/zeebra/baseline/util - is the directory where the baseline is.
    Having local workarea as /home/user/work/util
The local work has the baseline in search path. But the local -user does not have write permission on baseline/util/SunWS_Cache.
The local compilation goes thro fine, but when linking it just hangs. As soon as I give the write permission to baseline/util/SunWS_Cache, the linking completes.
Is it a bug? Do we have patch already for this problem for Forte6 Update 1?
    Thanks!

The SunWS_Cache directory must have write permission. The cache contains state information that must be locked when a compiler is being run, to avoid trashing the state information if another compilation runs in the same directory at the same time. (Sun C++ supports dmake and gmake for running multiple compilations in parallel.)
A non-writeable template cache is not an available option.
Starting with C++ 5.5 (Sun ONE Studio 8 Compiler Collection), the template cache is no longer required, and by default is not used. If you are having problems involving the cache, you should consider upgrading to this new release.

  • FTP Put fails when there is no pre-existing file present in the directory

    Hi All,
In our process we use the FTP adapter to write a file to a location. This operation fails when there is no preexisting file on the output directory.
So we placed a zero byte file on the directory and tested and the adapter was able to create the output file but when the files were deleted from the output directory the file transfer failed again.
    We got the below error
    Non Recoverable System Fault :
Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'Put' failed due to: Invalid Output Directory. Invalid Output Directory. The value specified for the output (Physical/Logical)Directory interaction parameter or jca binding property has an invalid value "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" Ensure that the following conditions are satisfied for the output directory : 1) It exists and is a directory (not a file). and 2) It is writable (file write permissions). and 3) If using a logical name, then ensure that the mapping from logical name<->physical directory is correctly specified in the deployment descriptor. ". The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution.
Kindly help us resolve the issue.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Balaji R

    Balaji,
This operation fails when there is no preexisting file on the output directory I'm not sure I understood this declaration.
Why do you need to have preexisting file on the output directory?
If it fails, with the mentioned error, it means that something was not defined properly.
    OR
    Another option is permissions.
Check that your local system user (I guess orabi) has a write permission on the target directory (on the FTP host).

  • I'm trying to share to Media Browser a 20 minute still slide show with music and text. I have tried several times to save at 1080 HD, but just before it's finished, a message box pops up saying "File already open with write permission."  What's this mean?

I'm trying to finalize/share to Media Browser a 20 minute still slide show with music and text. I'd like to finalize it 1080 hd and have tried several times, but just before it's finished, a message box pops up saying it can't be done because "File already open with with write permission."  What does this mean?  All files are closed; this iMovie project is the only thing open.  Does it mean one of the song files from iTunes? And should I just settle for saving it as a "large" file, which is what I'm trying right now?
    Thanks,

You apparently installed LV in a location, then changed user IDs so that
you no longer have write permission there. To make LV use a different
..ini file, make a shortcut/alias and set the command line to contain
-pref "prefFileName" with any sort of path you like.
