No year displayed in events/rolls?

Hello all,
Kind of a frustrating problem, in what seems like a great update. It is most relevant when viewing library in events mode. Even scrolling in Photos mode, the year no longer displays on the overlay. The year is clearly in the data, I think, as it has been fine until now. Anyone have any ideas? The display is consistent throughout the whole library, with two different cameras and scanned photos. iPhoto 6 displayed month and year just fine.
Frustrating to see "April 4," and so on under every event for 6 years, with no year! I have looked at other users screenshots, and the year definitely appears where mine does not. I think I have scoured the settings and preferences, but maybe I missed something.
I know it is something simple, and least I hope.
I took some small screenshots, but am not sure how to post them in.

Strange, what does your date settings look like? It seems as though iPhoto uses the third setting to display the dates in the overlay. If that date does not show a year in your system preferences then iPhoto will not show it either.

Synchronizing Calendar with Outlook Marks Everyday of the Year as an Event

Scenario: 2nd Generation Touch 32GB, Windows XP Pro SP3, Outlook 2003
Prior to purchasing my touch last week, I have been able to successfully synchronize my calendar and contacts with my iPod Classic.
My new iPod Touch synchronizes my contacts and calendar with Outlook; however, my iPod Touch also marks everyday of the year (including those without events) with a Dot to indicate that something is occuring that day. Thus, I have to click on each day to determine when there is an actual event. The iPod Touch seems partially aware that there are no events for these days because it displays "no events" when you scroll to those days. HHHEELLPPP!
How do I prevent the iPod Touch from marking everyday of the year with the a dot to indicate that an event is scheduled for that day? Is there an obsure setting causing this behavior?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

you have a couple of options:
Mail for Exchange -- will sync to your Exchange server over the air (flat rate data plan strongly recommended) just like the WiMo devices do. I do this since about two years, first with my E61i and now with my E71. Fast, simple, and easy.
SyncML -- services such as Funambol and others can let you run this option. To sync my Exchange at work and Outlook at home, I'm using a local copy of Funambol (plus always-on DSL plus DynDNS and a few trix), although there are also some open Funambol-based services you can use. You will need to install a Funambol sync client on your PC, but it's not the Nokia PC Suite!
Other options that come to mind could be Google Calendar and similar -- somehwere a server in the sky where you dump your calendar and contacts regulary and sync them up to the phone.
My personal recommendation is MfE.

ICal not displaying all events in Month view, leaving unused blank space

I think this is a bug or bad programming of iCal:
In the month view, I have for example a day with 5 or 6 events. When I change the size of the global iCal window, the size of each day is of course changing, displaying more or less of the events on that day; and displaying "..." when additional events exist but can not be shown. This is all fine... and normal...
However, I noticed that iCal is simply not making use of the whole space: when my day is bog enough to display all events, iCal is still only displaying half of them, and the "...".
This is really a pity as the white space is there.
Anybody observed the same behavior?

Sorry, missed that fact. My memory is good, but short.
Try moving the "Calendar Cache" file to your Desktop. Quit iCal, and find the "Calendar Cache" file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars. Move that file to your Desktop. After that, (I remember that I recommended this before), as long as you are moving files to the Desktop, repeat the plist removal procedure once again, log out/in or restart.
You should also consider removing the "To Do's" from Mail before restarting iCal. When you open iCal turn off "Show Birthdays calendar" in iCal>Preferences...>General.
Are you syncing any data? If so, what method(s) are you using?

PDF alt text displays as a roll over

When I generate PDFs, the alt text is displayed when I roll over the figure to which the alt text is assigned. Is there any way to keep the alt text but turn off the roll over effect?
I have a customer who finds the roll over effect bothersome.

No - if there's some ALT text, the Acrobat Family will always show it.

The router might be bad or incompatible, but let's be optimistic.
On System Preferences, go to Network/Advanced/PPP. Only two items should be checked: Connect Automatically When Needed and Disconnect when switching user accounts. Uncheck everything else. Now, click Okay on the end of the page. The next time you're online, you shouldn't be disconnected.
If you still get disconnected like before, we might be dealing with a router issue - which can get rather complicated.

Will Not Display by Film Roll

I can't figure this out: When I am on the "library" selection, I used
to see a display of all the film rolls, listed separately. Now all I get is a scroll of photos with no indication of what film roll they are on.
How do I set the view so I can view the photos grouped by film rolls?

Actually the same thing happened to me under different circumstances.
I was dragging a group of five images to a keyword in the keyword panel.
I dropped them on the keyword and in front of my eyes the library images were shifting. (I have my view set to rolls). When I was done being shocked I discovered all my images were in one roll. This was not acceptable to me as I really like my dated roll organization.
I had recently done a backup so I dragged out the messed up library and dragged my backup into the Pictures folder.
I no longer use that keyword panel for keywords. I use the "get info" pop over window to keyword my images.
I really don't know what your iPhoto Library looks like in the Finder. If you can navigate there and tell me if your images are still in their dated folders, I can tell you what to do from there.
This is a view of how the iPhoto Library looks in the Finder.
It is organized by Year folders. Inside the Year folders are Month folders. Inside the Month folders are the days of the Month. Inside the day folders are the photos you took on that day. If you imported video clips and RAW files on that day they will be in an Originals folder. If you have edited any photo imported on that day, the original will be in that folder also.
If your images are still in their dated rolls in the Finder, then you can get those rolls back, but will lose Albums, keywords, slideshow...basically everything , but you will get your roll organization back.
You would follow the instructions on Page 2 for the "add to the library" method.

Can iPhoto 9 display my film rolls like iPhoto 6 did?

I've just installed iLife '11 and my iPhoto library is all over the place.
Everything used to be in order by date which was at the right hand side of the title on each film roll but now all the rolls or 'events' as they're now known are displayed as avatars with the date below in small writing. I liked the old way as it was in order and i could manipulate it the way i wanted it.
For instance, i have numerous rolls which contain photos of the same thing but which are all taken at different times and now these rolls are listed by the first photo's date.
I don't want the rolls displayed in this new fashion with a photo from each, i want a long list which i can scroll down and find what I'm looking for then open. It's easier for me to organise my pictures like that. I could add or remove photos to and from different rolls by just dragging and dropping them.
I have several rolls which are added to frequently and edited at the same time.
Is there any way to get round this?
Is there any way to display my photos as a list instead of this photo montage?

Have you looked at Photo view - that basically is how it works
You also can view the library in photos view
And albums and folders are an easier way of doing what you wnat
as to going back - sure - load the backup of your iPhoto 6 library and reinstall iPhoto 6 from the original source

How do I get iCal to display my event notes when working on my MacBook?

I just got an iPad 3G (which I love) and am bothering to use iCal for the first time. So far, it seems to be going well. The only disappointment is that when I view iCal on my iPad, I can see the notes attached to each calendar event. However, when I view the same calendar on my MacBook, I can only see the list of events. To view the notes, you have to double click every event, which seems really counter-intuitive and a complete waste of time (why enter a note if you can't see it)? Is there a way way to get my notes to display in iCal on my MacBook? What am I missing? Thanks for your help!!

The iPad has the same calendar views as the MobileMe (paid) calendar. The great looking calendar is not available on any other apple machine to my knowledge.
I purposely updated my MobileMe to get that calendar, not realizing that doing that update took away the ability to publish/share my calendars with family members or friends who weren't MobileMe users. So I got a pretty calendar and lost all the sharing functions I needed. Major dislike.

Displaying an event that takes place over a number of days.

I'm running OS10.6.3 and iCal 4.0.2,
I recently upgraded from OS 10.4.11.
Formerly events that occurred over multiple days, ie. travel, would display over the whole term in month display. For example, if I entered a date range such as 6/6/10 through 6/10/10 as an event in 6/6/10, the month view would show a blue line indicating the event through all 5 days.
Currently when I enter that range the event is only displayed on the beginning day, 6/6/10.
I like it better before ;>)

You could try a Safe Boot. That may eliminate a cache problem.
The last thing that comes to mind is to check for duplicate fonts using Font Book.
Out of ideas.

Icloud calendar display of events on pc

Some of the events on the calendar display with the event printed in a bar of color across the square of that day. Other events display with only a dot of color after the event's name. The first option is better because it makes the event stand out more. How do I get all events to display with a bar?

You can change the calendar color from Red to something else, but the events will all be the same color

How do I define these RKFs.. do we have standard date variables for RKF.

here u can go for creation of variable for column KF and assign the value for each sales document type = 1 by using a customer exit

ICal will not display correct "event" times

Have iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10 ) and iCal app suddenly will not display the correct Event times that I have designated in the little pop up box? Any ideas about what I can do to reset iCal or fix this annoying error in the app?

HI Jason269. Thanks for your reply, however I wrote that I already have "All events" checked. If All Events is checked and it doesn't diaplay all events, how do I fix? It seems this is a common issue, as I have read many others on here state the same problem.
I believe my problem occurred when I synced my iMac calendar to my iPad calendar using yahoo. Yesterday, I unsynced them on my iMac controls. When I checked my iPad calendar, all of my old entries reappeared - but only for five seconds and disappeared again. So, the data is saved and still there but cannot be displayed, even when I have All events checked. In fact, it only shows my individual entries for the last two months, but does show all my recurring entries. If I switched to last six months, I will see everything for the last six months. If I switch back to all events, it is only for the last two months.
As I mentioned, others on here have expressed exactly the same issue, including the two month example and having used yahoo.
For legal purposes, I need to be able to use the information from my indidual calendar entries in an upcoming court case. So I really need to fix this ASAP!
