No Zen Micro Problems, Post H

Well this is my first post on the forums and I am this close to buying a zen micro. I would have bought one yesterday until I stumbled upon the head-phone jack problem. I want to hear from people who have a zen micro problem free and how long you have had it. I've owned 3 previous creative players that have all worked great, so I'm hoping that there are only a small amount of people with this problem making all the noise (e.g. the sony psp dead pixel issue). So if you're happy with your zen micro let me know!!

Kpm,
It's ok, most people miss that option at first so it's no biggie. Personally I own a Zen Micro and take is almost everywhere with me. I have had no major problems and the minor ones were self created. I would highly recommend it. Now I do have a bias (as I am a Creative Employee) but I personally love this player.

• Zen Micro Problem! It's Urgent!!!! Please Help me!!

OK, so recently i just got a brand new Zen Micro and i had a Zen Micro before the one i currently own, but i traded it for my current one because i couldnt get sound out of the earjacks sometimes. My old Zen used to instantly get on either of my computers, one which iz a windows 2000 and another which iz a windows xp.
Anyway, now that i have my new one, ever since i've gotten it, every time i plug it into the USB outlet, it says its not connected. I went to recovery mode and did every single option there, because not only did my family say that's what i should do, but a good friend i have that works at Best Buy told me to do that also. So i did that and all that did was delete the 3 songs that came with the mp3 player and get rid of my firmware, which i cant download because my computer doesnt recognize my zen!!!! PLEASE HELPPPPPPP!!!
I know there have been many other posts like this but im 5 and not too educated with computers. I just want to know exactly how do i fix this problem, or if i can or if i should just give up now and trade it in for another zen micro. I'd like to stay with the one i have now, but this is seriously getting annoying!

Ok, it doesnt appear on my device manager. I've tried both my Windows XP and Windows 2000, neither seem to notice it. It glows with a blue aura as if like its charging, and on the Windows XP, it does show that its docked but i still can not get it to upload music or even be noticed on the device manager. I do hear the ding-dong though, and i can upload songs through musicmatch, but i'd much rather use my zen explorer.
On 2000, i have no reaction other than the charging of the battery. No Docking, No ding-dong sound, Nothing! What should i do now? I even returned it and got another Micro in hopes that this annoyance would end but it continues to proceed! Any help is welcomed and i need help ASAP because i have an upcoming vacation and i'd like to have at least some entertainment other than the TV in my hotel room!

• Zen Micro problem... What the he

You'll probably read this and think I'm retarded but...
How do you play music on Zen Micro?
Seriously... I just bought it, took it out of the box, and checked it out. According to the manual, there are some sample songs on there. The manual also implies that the first time you turn it on, you'll be at the Now Playing screen which has track information. On mine, that screen just says "Select music to PLAY from the Music Library". Next, I followed the instructions to transfer some music from my computer to Zen. That all seemed to go well, and from Windows Explorer I can see those songs on the Zen. Then I disconnected from the computer to try it out.
Starting on p. 30 of the manual is the instructions on how to play a track. It says to hit the menu button to get the main menu (that works). Next, it says to select the Music Library. I was confused about that for a while since there is no such option on my main menu (which, coincidentally, renders the entire rest of the instruction manual useless because it explains all the fabulous things you can do from the Music Library).
I spent a while looking online for help and got nowhere, other than I saw an ad with a picture of the Main Menu, and in the picture Music Library was an option on it.
So help me out here... is there something wrong with the player? Am I dumb? Some combination of the two? Please let me know any suggestions as to what I've missed.
ps: I can get the FM radio to work.

I saw one other post on here that described this problem. I think if you go into the Extras then select the Customize Menus option you can check the box next to Music Library
If this doesn't place the Music Library on the main menu then try a disk cleanup in rescue mode.
To access the resue mode take the battery out. Make sure the player is off and hold the power button over and re-insert the battery. You should boot into rescue mode. From there select Disk Cleanup. It shold only take a few seconds and a % complete should display. When it's done select reboot and the Music Library will most likly be in the main menu.

• Zen Micro Problem (music libra

im new to these boards, but i have to say there great lots of info!!! So on to my problem my 4GB Zen Micro works perfect except for one thing, if you start it on cold boot up like if you havent used it in a few hours the Creative Labs screen after the water droplet or whatever you call it. anyways the top left part of the Creative labs logo would be missing like a chunk taken out of it. When this happens it paused for like 3 seconds then boots up fine. So i thought updating my firmware to the newest one (i previously had ..0) So i backed up all my files before i updated into a folder on my computer. After i downloaded the firmware i downloaded all my songs back onto it. This is where the problem starts, after i download songs i always go to Creative Mediasource organizer and organize them so they wont be in all sorts of catagories on the player, like when i first download them. When i transfered the songs back onto the mp3 they where scrambled in catagories. Somehow I was trying to fix it but i accedently deleted all the songs from my player and backup files. So now ill have to download all my songs again and organize them into there catagories which would take hours. Is there anyways you can organize songs quicker? Just beacause when i download songs of limewire sometimes the artist's names arent spelled correctly or wrong genre or incorrect title......stuff like that. so when i download them from my computer to the zen its all scrambled on the player unorganized, which bothers me. Anyway quicker to organize? Sorry for such a long post
Please help me!!!
thanks!!!!

This is normal. I get the same problem with ..0, and just put it down to rather inelegant programming.

If you've updated to the v2.xx PlayForSure/MTP firmware, when you copy tracks to the player the PC will view the player as having folders. On the player itself though it will still use tag data.
It's always important to have clean tag data as the player works using this, so find a tagging program that suits you, and put some work into organising them.

• Zen Micro life post-Cave

I had planned to crack open my Zen Micro and insert a flash card because the hard dri've failed on me after one single drop, but then I read the posts about the caveman method and with the player purchased off ebay and clearly out of warranty I though what the hay. After putting the player in my right hand and slamming it into my left, viola!! It worked again and 4 days and several hours of music later it's still working.
Here comes the question. How long can I expect for this thing to work because clearly there's something wrong with the hard dri've (One of the MODs mentioned a bad sector in a hard-dri've will cause future problems). How long has your Micro worked post-caveman? I'm curious to know the details...

I used the caveman repair method too. There is no possibility to say how long it will work this way. It depends to the sort of damage. My player is working now since more than month without any further problems. It was never necessary again to bump it again.

• New Zen Micro Problem! Email response to Creative L

Dear Mr. M,the earphones were originally shipped on 5-02-2005. Due to the corruption of your address in our system due to its length this failed. New earphones were shipped on 29-03. In order to avoid delays in the future please contact european support directly by sending mails only to[email protected]][email protected]. The warranty for the device is one year plus any time the device is out of your possession for replacement under the warranty. Please retain all the previous correspondence when replying to this email.---------------------------------------
RE:
The corruption of my address in your system is not my problem, it doesnt matter to me. All I want is my headphones as soon as possible. The mistake was made, and it took 45 days to correct, despite my many many emails inquiring about the problem that went on unanswered. That is all I see.
As a customer I expect the manufactuer to face up to their mistakes and instead of blaming it on computer problems. I expect the manufactuer to make an effort to fix their mistakes, for example, by sending it out overnight mail. And also, i did not hear any mention of the warrenty covering this lost time, this lost time that is the fault of the manufacturer, what is the policy on that?
Also...i have just recieved my Zen Micro and battery. Well...you guys sent me the wrong battery! I dont know how that is possible since they were both shipped together. I have battery num#333A4Z2DEGD. But now listen to me carefully, do not send me my new battery with some under 0days service. I want it OVERNIGHT. I am tired of these problems and dealing with this weak customer service. I just want to listen to music...thats it. <B><I></I></B>

Silus,
If you would like assistance with your problem then contact support directly at the email that they provided you. I can not help you in this matter. This will be the last post regarding your specific problem on the forums as it needs to be taken care of directly. This needs to be dealt with directly, and posting complaints and requests on the forums will not resolve this.

• Zen Micro Problems / Firmw

I'm fairly new to the whole MP3 player thing. I got my Black Zen Micro in May; I haven't had any problems since. Recently, within the past two weeks or so, my player has frozen. I think it has been only the once, having to remove the battery in order to get it to turn off. Also, when trying to upload music onto my MP3 player, I can upload it fine using the software, but when taking the lead out it freezes and only about, 3 songs if I'm lucky load onto it. Things have been mentioned about firmware and such, but I have never downloaded or used it. As I am new to things, if you have any suggestions could you please keep it simple? =D I am from the UK but the school doesn't let me get on the UK forums. I've heard this quite a lot, and read one post about it, but it doesn't help because I don't really understand it much.. Is it a common problem? I brought my Zen from Amazon - Does anyone know if you can send it back to them due to the problems, or send it to Zen if nothing happens and it still doesn't work? Thanks in advance.

See the "My Zen is not behaving properly, and/or won't startup, or goes into rescue mode. What should I do?" section of the FAQ post.

My advice is get the ..0 firmware and apply this.

• Zen Micro problem need help

Today i was listening to music and my zen micro just froze while playing and no buttons could be pressed and the lock button wasnt on. So i took the battery out and rebooted the player but it froze at the creative screen. I went home and i went to recovery mode and tried to reload the firmware but it said erasing firmware for more than 2 hours. So then i tried a format but it said formating for the same amount of time. I need help please. Also, recently i've had problems witht the headphone jack. When ever i would stick it in it would sound distorted and i would have to move it around until i got it to a certain spot to hear it good again. If anyone else has this problem please tell me. One more thing i had returned my other micro zen in for hard dri've probems and this was my new one do u think if i have to return in (hopefully not) that they would accept it.

If the functions in Rescue Mode aren't working properly then you need to contact Creative Support.

• Zen Micro problems URGENT h

Hi i have a problem with my zen micro.
when i turn it on e get the following menu
Recovery Mode
- Clean up
2- Format all
3- Reload Firmware
4- Reboot
i tried all of these butit stays the same...
when i get the firmware it doesn't detect my device but with my friends Zen it does...
What is wrong and how can i fix it

If you can't load the firmware onto it, and the player won't get out of Recovery Mode, it sounds like it's probably faulty. You didn't mention when (or where) you purchased the player, but it would be best to contact Customer Support directly for assistance at this point.

• Help!!! Zen Micro problem

I have been having problems with my zen micro for i while now(with problems with audio etc and it switching itself on and off). Well today, i go to plug in my computer and the computer couldn't detect it, so i unplugged it to which on the screen it came up with "low battery". This didnt concern me until i went to charge my micro and now i cant even charge it. Yesterday i found by pressing a certain point on the back of my micro and could increase the volume and make the sound better or worse. I now get nothing from my zen micro as it just sits there doing nothing. I cant even turn it on.
Has anyone else had problems like this? Can anyone help me?

<FONT color=#0033ff size=4>Zen Micro
Ensure that the Zen Micro is turned off.
Remove the battery.
Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the Zen Micro. Hold the Power button until the rescue mode appears.
The following options will be displayed:
) Clean Up (Performs a disk scan on the players harddisk)
2) Format All (Formats the players harddisk - Note: all contents will be lost)
3) Reload OS (Reloads the Operating System on the Jukebox. Note: Reloading your OS, will not effect the contents of the files stored on your Zen Micro) Caution: Do not select this option until a firmware update has been downloaded onto the PC
4) Reboot (Reboots the device).PS Cat wrote this i just copied it from one of her links to help you.

• Creative Zen Micro problem! PLEASE HELP

can anyone help me please?
I am on my 3rd replacement for my Zen Micro. I have had problems with switching my Zen on and for it to even attempt to function properly. I turn on my Zen and once the screen turns back to the song that i was playing when i previously turned it off, it plays about 2 seconds of the song and then releases an unpleasant high pitched drone in my ears. This happens 9 times out of 0 whenever i switch on my Zen.
I am doing nothing different whatsoever, other than listening to it throughout the day. It still has 4GB left! I really am very upset about it all.
This is now getting ridiculous. I have rebooted it, uploaded firmware, formatted my Zen and wiped it then put all of the music back on, "cleaned it up" and still i have problems. I am VERY angry, frustrated and completely disappointed in this product. I have never found so many problems with a product!
Please let me know what can be done.
I have emailed Creative Support 4 times in the past week and i have had nothing in return. I need a new player as i use it every day. I cant get a refund (i dont think) because it was a gift and my dad bought it online. I just want a working Creative mp3 player.
Thanks!

It sounds like you've tried everything as far as troubleshooting goes (updating firmware, the options in Recovery Mode). Unfortunately it does look like there is a problem with your player then.
You didn't mention when you originally got the player (the first one, or your last replacement), but in any case it would be best to speak to Customer Support and outline the problems you've been having, and let them know you're not happy, to see what they can do for you.
Regarding e-mail, did you get an auto response back? If not, check your spam filter (if you have one), as you will always get an auto response back when you e-mail us or use the webform. If you did get the auto response, check over it, as usually you are meant to reply to it if the included basic tips don't help, so that someone will deal with your mail directly.

• Zen micro problem please help..it seems to have wiped the libra

I would really appreciate any help anyone could offer with this problem as I have no idea what to do and fear I may have lost all the music I've collected over the past few years as none of it is backed up on my computer...My zen was working fine yesterday but then all of a sudden it froze, I couldn't get anything on it to work so I removed the battery as I have done before, it went on to 'rebuilding library'?but after a few seconds said 'Select music to play from the library' and there was NOTHING on there. No songs, no artists, nothing. It still says the space is being used up and there is only a few MB left but it's saying there's no songs on it. I tried accessing them through the computer but that wouldn't work either. PLEASE does anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe you could try running Disk Clean Up from the Recovery Mode
Remove Zen Micro's back plate and battery
Hold the On switch to On (fully to the left) and hold it there as you replace the battery
Select Disk Clean Up and Yes from the menu, it's at the top of the list
It will take a moment or 2 to complete Disk Clean Up, allow it to finish
Once Disk Clean Up is complete, select Reboot at the bottom of the list
You should see a Re-building Library notice once it reboots and hopefully your music will be accessible again
Clean Up will re-set your Zen Micro to its factory default settings, so you will have to redo any special settings that you had
Best of luck!
/with today's huge hard dri'ves, why don't people back their music up :|
I've got mine backed up on 2 different computers plus 2 external HDDs.

• Zen Micro problem, please help

I changed my Zen Micro's firmware to "PlaysForSure", but then I wanted to get back the original firmware.
So I used the "Recovery mode" to erase PlaysForSure firmware (v. 2.2.02) and then tried to load the original firmware (v. ..0).
Then my problems begun: firmware updater says "Your player is not connected, please connect your player.", altough my player is correctly connected and the drivers and other Creative's stuff are installed.
Computer (WinXP) ofcourse detects the player (as a PlaysForSure device).
I also tried to load the PlayesForSure firmware again, but it didn't work either.
So, what can I do to fix my Zen Micro's firmware?
Does the warranty cover this kind of things?
I would be very pleased if someone knows what to do, because my player really doesn't work now at all.

Okey, now I have uninstalled WMP and WMP Runtime Format, and installed WMP 0 again, but still firmware updater doesn't find my player connected. The player appears in the device manager as a "Portable media player", not under USB devices as when it was running with firmware ..0. If I try to uninstal the drivers, driver uninstaller totally freezes, and I think that all USB devices freeze too. So what can I do now?
pie wrote:
how do you install wmp0, i tried but it wont let me because its an older version
Open add/remove programs, click "show updates", scroll to windows updates, uninstall WMP and then WMP Runtime Format (after every uninstall you will have to restart your computer). Then download WMP 0 from http://www.microsoft.com and install it.

Well at least you got it working. MTP does require your system to be nearly perfect as MTP relies on a dozen (or more) files to get itself working completly, if one isn't working then you got yourself problems. But at least you figured out a repair of XP was a solution for you. Another would of been to reinstall the Service Pack.

• Zen Micro problem player frozen, can connect to pc, what to d

hello community,
My 6 month old zen micro has frozen after a small drop. I have read of this product freezing at the creative labs screen but mine freezes once it has turned on completely (i see the song/artist/album of the last song i was playing). Here, the touchpad does not work and i cannot turn it off without removing the battery, although i can turn it on normally. Also the glow around hte player doesnt work but the main LCD works.
When i try to access the emergency menu or whatever wit hall of the options (clean up/format etc) I cannot do anything since the touchpad is unresponsi've. I can, however, charge it with my computer and sync files that way.
So my question is: How can I revi've my Zen Micro using a connection with my computer, being able to transfer stuff?

Right... I havent tried anything insane i've smacked it around and dropped it again but nothing huge or drastic yet... so i guess it is an internal mechanical problem that cant be fixed with a new firmware or rolling back my current firmware?
