No zoom function available on Iphoto '11

Is there anybody who can explain why there is no zoom function on Iphoto '11, except in the edit mode. Iphoto '09 has the zoom function so why not the latest version?

This is a serious problem for iPhoto 11. It was actually a downgrade from the previous version. The solution is to switch your photo files over to Aperture and abandon iPhoto. Aperture has far more features than iPhoto and iPhoto used to have features that Aperture did not have, but that is now gone. There is now no reason to use iPhoto except that it was free with your mac. I had been using both Aperture for my camera pics and iPhoto for my downloaded pics, but no longer find iPhoto useful. Currently I am converting all my iPhoto libraries over to Aperture. I have many TB of iPhoto libraries.
Fortunately, Aperture can assimilate an iPhoto library with one click. Just go to the import pull down menu, navigate over to your iPhoto library and click. Aperture is awesome and not very expensive. The solution is to dump iPhoto.

  • We have a Canon SX40Hs and cannot activate the digital zoom function. can you help?Thanks

    We have a Canon SX40Hs and cannot activate the digital zoom function.  I have tried changing the mode from Auto to "P" to "Tv" etc and the dig zoom function is greyed out and not accessible.  Any help?
    Thanks

    Actually, this is a friend's camera, but yes, I went to the menu and when I got to the digital zoom option, it is greyed out (not accessible).  That is the problem.  I shoot in the EOS line so figured maybe there was a custom function somewhere that was causing the problem, but Power shot line apparentley doesn't have custom functions.  Thought maybe digital zoom is only availabel in certain modes (pernaps not available in "green square"), but changing mode didn't seem to make it accessible either.  I am just not familiar with the powershot cameras so ...  any other suggestions?

  • Zoom Function on 6630

    When my partner views images I send to his 6630 from my 7610 the zoom function goes immediately to 200% and then to 400%. Other pics can be viewed in stages - that is the zoom goes 25% then 50% etc. We can't figure out why. Is it to do with the software or settings on one or both of the phones? Can anyone help? Many thanks.

    That means that zoom is not available on whatever you are watching.

  • Lost zoom function

    Since I upgraded my IP4 the camera zoom function no longer is available.  Any suggestions?

    Yep. Select the contact in your contacts app, hit "Edit", hit "add photo"...you can then either take a photo or choose one...if in your Photos App, hit choose...select the photo...arrange & scale...hit done. These photos(assigned directly on your phone) will appear full-size when the contact calls. Photos assigned on your computer will appear as thumbnails.

  • How do I add a zoom function to a digital magazine (.swf file) in InDesign CS6?

    Hi,
    Im creating an interactive digital magazine for our company which will go on the iPad, but also online for computers.
    The iPad (.folio) has zoom functions, but on screen (.swf) the magazine is very static and peaple can't zoom and scroll (the zooming buttons function in InDesign doesn't work here).
    So, how do I add a zoom function to a digital magazine (.swf file) in InDesign CS6?
    (I read older posts regarding this problem in CS5... It's not possible for me to purchase an additional product for that. I have Flash, if there is a tutorial on how to do it, that'd be helpful too)
    Thanks for your help!
    Best regards!

    Although the help implies this should work, and I've seen it written in a book to do things this way, it's not how I do things:
    var content_req1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("text/hales.txt");
    var content_ldr:URLLoader = new URLLoader(content_req1);
    content_ldr.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete1);
    Instead, try:
    var content_req1:URLRequest = new URLRequest("text/hales.txt");
    var content_ldr:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    content_ldr.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onComplete1);
    content_ldr1.load(content_req1);

  • How to switch off scroll and zoom functions of touchpad on Satellite L

    Hi.
    Can anyone tell me how to switch off the scroll and zoom functions for the Synaptics Touchpad v7.2 .
    Can't seem to do it via the Control Panel.
    Any suggestions.

    Hi buddy,
    > Can't seem to do it via the Control Panel.
    You can only disable the virtual scrolling function if the touchpad driver is installed properly. The driver provides extended functions and allows you to disable/enable special features. If you dont have installed the touchpad driver download it on official Toshiba page:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
    Then navigate to control panel as the previous user wrote for disabling the scroll function.
    Can you find it now?

  • Scroll-zoom function does not work.

    Hey,
    I am using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Pro on  Windows XP and somehow I am not able to use Ctrl+scroll for zooming in and out.
    It only works using Ctrl++ and Ctrl+-.
    Do you know how I can turn the scroll-zooming function on again?
    Thank you,
    Finn

    In later versions the setting is controlled by:
    Edit > Preferences > General > Basic Tools > Make Hand tool use mouse-wheel scrolling
    I don't have a copy of A6 to verify if the entry is in the same place or not.

  • Zoom function not working correctly in the playback options window.

    When selecting the start and stop timepoints for creating a text file in signal express I can't zoom in on selected areas. When I use the zoom function the trace just dissapears.
    Could anyone help me with this?
    Cheers.

    Is this a LabVIEW or a signal express question?
    (You post in the LabVIEW forum but only mention signal express. There is a dedicated signalexpress forum. If this is a LabVIEW question, please explain in more detail.)

  • DPS: pinch and zoom function not working on all pages within folio (v30 tools using the pdf setting). What would cause some pages to pinch and zoom fluidly, while other pages appear a bit sticky? Could it be a button on the wrong layer?

    What would cause some pages in the same folio to pinch and zoom fluidly, while other pages appear a bit sticky? Could it be a button on the wrong layer that's not allowing the pinch and zoom to work?
    I do have a "go to state" button that enlarges graphic to full page on the page. Could this be cancelling the pinch and zoom functionality? Would a box with text wrap ON affect the ability to pich and zoom? What else may be causing this?

  • Adding a button with zoom function

    Hello,
    I am working on a product catalog and for this purpose we have used a professional photographer to shoot product photos. The photos are really nice and they can be zoomed in to see every detail clearly. The photos have been inserted into the pdf catalog but because of the limited space they are not very detailed.
    Is it possible to add a button or link with zoom function? For example, an icon such as a magnifier or just the word zoom so when a user clicks it, it will zoom in the pre set area to a pre set level and center it.
    Sounds quite fancy right? Maybe i'm thinking the impossible... but it's worth a try here :)
    Regards,
    Rudi

    ok. i got it! :))
    i have made some changes myself. When the mouse enters button1, button2 becomes visible and button1 becomes hidden (otherwise it is overlapping button2). I have set this in the actions of button1. I would also add the following function: when visible button2 is clicked it hides button2 (this you have already shown and works) and makes button1 visible again. I guess making button1 visible again has to be done with a Javascript in the actions of button2 under mouse up.
    I have no knowledge of programming. Can you tell me how to do this?
    After i openen the pdf file and used this function and close the pdf file it asks to save the pdf file. How can i prevent this to show up? I dont want this to happen to my customers.
    Is it possible to see the exact dimensions of the button? Then i could create both buttons so that they fit in my catalog exactly as i want them, and then check the dimensions and scale my photos to it. Although it seems that Acrobat does something with the photo size already as the photo in button2 is 34mb while the pdf file is only 200kb.
    thanks.

    BTW this is really a well thought out solution and i think not many people are aware of this because i have never seen it before

  • Are iPhoto iOS effects available in iPhoto 11 or Aperture?

    I really enjoy several of the cool effects available in IPhoto for iOS but am stumped that why they do not exist in the most recent version of IPhoto nor Aperture?
    Am I missing something??? or is the one of the many elements caught in the gaps as Apple is integrating all their platforms???

    kwdonlon:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Neither application can do that. You'll need Photoshop Elements to change backgrounds or add text in a variety of ways. The text demo is actually a watermark type of text. There are other apps which can add text but PSE is the only one I'm familiar with that can do the type of background removal (except of course the full blown Photoshop).
    Amazon.com sometimes has a deal on Photoshop Elements for Mac with about $10 off bringing it to around $79.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Is the flag still available in iPhoto '11?

    I have looked at all the infomation available on iPhoto '11 and can't verify that the flag is still available.  If it is not included in this version, how does a person move a photo from 1 event to another?

    Flagging is still an option in iPhoto '11.

  • Does the camera have a focus or zoom function

    does the camera have a focus function or zoom function?

    The camera on iPad was really designed for Facetime conversations.  Keep in mind the rear facing camera is 2.3 Megapixel and the front facing camera is .7 magapixel.  Neither are even close to real camera standards.

  • Right in the middle of the process of creating a hardcover photo book, a message came up, telling me: This theme is no longer available in iPhoto. Please choose: Delete book / Cancel / Change Theme. No matter what I select. What`s the problem???

    No matter what option I select- iPhoto either crashes or the beachball starts spinning. Either way, I can`t access the photo book anymore.
    Is there anything I can do?
    The selected theme is definitely still available in iPhoto, so this can`t be the real problem...
    I have been sitting on the book work for days...
    Thanks for any help!
    Dennis

    Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    If that doesn't help   launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If it does then a reinstall of iPhoto is warrented.
    If the problem does not appear in the test library then your current library is damaged.  In that case make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
    Fix #2
    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
    In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
