NoClassDefFoundError: ServiceFactory
Here is the console output I receive after running my ant build.xml file:
Buildfile: ~/SetResultTask/build/build.xml
compile:
jar:
main:
BUILD FAILED
~/SetResultTask/build/build.xml:8: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/rpc/ServiceFactory
Total time: 180 milliseconds
I replaced most of the pathname with ~ for privacy's sake.
The build.xml file is:
<project basedir="." default="main">
<property name="src" value="../src"/>
<property name="output" value="../bin"/>
<target name="main" depends="jar">
<taskdef name="setresult" classname="WebClient" classpath="${output}/WebClient.jar"/>
<setresult resultfile="${output}/resultsFromService.xml"/>
</target>
<target name="compile">
<mkdir dir="${output}"/>
<javac srcdir="${src}" destdir="${output}" classpath="../../../libs/jaxrpc.jar"/>
</target>
<target name="jar" depends="compile">
<jar destfile="${output}/WebClient.jar" basedir="${output}" excludes="WebClient.jar"/>
</target>
</project>
The AntTask that I wrote that uses the javax.xml.rpc library is as follows:
import javax.xml.namespace.QName;
import javax.xml.rpc.Call;
import javax.xml.rpc.Service;
import javax.xml.rpc.ServiceFactory;
import org.apache.tools.ant.BuildException;
import org.apache.tools.ant.Task;
public class WebClient extends Task {
String resultLocation;
private static String qnameService = "XMLListenerService";
private static String qnamePort = "XMLListener";
public void setResultlocation(String resultLocation)
this.resultLocation = resultLocation;
public void execute () throws BuildException
try
ServiceFactory factory = ServiceFactory.newInstance();
Service service = factory.createService(new QName(qnameService));
QName port = new QName(qnamePort);
Call call = service.createCall(port);
call.setTargetEndpointAddress("http://localhost:2447/WebService/services/XMLListener");
call.setOperationName(new QName("XMLListenerService", "setResultFile"));
call.setReturnType(new QName("http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema", "string"));
call.invoke( new Object[] { resultLocation } );
catch (Exception e)
throw new BuildException("Service Failed.");
Any help is greatly appreciated, if you need more information from me, please let me know.
Thanks much!
So I added a zipfileset to the jar task, and now my program gets a little farther and more into the webservice before failing.
The jar task now looks like:
<target name="jar" depends="compile">
<jar destfile="${output}/WebClient.jar" basedir="${output}" excludes="WebClient.jar">
<zipfileset src="../../../libs/jaxrpc.jar" includes="**/*" excludes="META-INF/*" />
</jar>
</target>
And I now get a ClassNotFoundException. It says it cannot find the org.apache.axis.client.ServiceFactory but I am importing the javax.xml.rpc.ServiceFactory, so I don't even know why it is trying to find the axis version of ServiceFactory. Any help is appreciated.

I created a web service proxy within JDeveloper (created from a wsdl file). I created a .java file to call the web service. It runs fine within JDeveloper. When I deploy it to a .jar file and try and run the jar file from the console (with "java -jar myProgram.jar") I get the exception: "Exception in thread "main" java.long.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/rpc/ServiceFactory"
Any ideas?
Thanks!I added the classpath to the command line "java -jar -cp C:\..... myProgram.jar" and got the same error when trying to run.
I also tried adding that classpath to the manifest.mf file included in my .jar -- I'm pretty sure I did something wrong though - because when I define the classpath in my .jar I get the error "NoClassDefFoundError: casswsdl/proxy/myProgram"

WebStart and EJB: NoClassDefFoundError: javax/ejb/NoSuchEJBException
Hi.
I've created a small EJB project and a client which is called via webstart. If I test it with eclipse or with a standalone client all works as expected. But if I open the client with webstart every lookup to the EJB classes fail.

@edit: I'm using Apache Geronimo as application server.
Edited by: StefanBorchert on 03.06.2008 16:35If someone run into similar problems: include openejb-client.jar and geronimo-ejb_.3.0_spec_1.0.1.jar into the jar file of the web start client (I used FatJar for building) instead of just referencing to them. After this it will work as expected.

NoClassDefFoundError: Can't instantiate class on WL, works fine locally
I have an ear running on WebLogic that contains an ejb. All runs well until the ejb tries to instantiate an object of ServiceFactory - one of our own classes.
In my unit tests, I could create an object of the class locally. It's on the server that the error occurs.
I'm guessing this is either a build/packaging issue or a WebLogic 10.3.6 quirk but don't know where to proceed from here given that the dependency exists in the ear (in APP-INF/lib). I've also tried moving the dependency that contains the class to the root of the ear. "Class-Path: " is blank in the MANIFEST.MF file for the ejb and the ear, but the product has run fine until now without them. I'm building with Maven.

NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/rpc/Stub
Hi,
I have a problem running the example Hello JAX-RPC application that comes with the JWSDP-1.1. I can run the application ok using ant, but if I try to run the program from the command line without using ant, I get NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/rpc/Stub
The command I'm using is
java hello.HelloClient
I have updated my CLASSPATH to include all the jar's that are used in the build.xml file. My CLASSPATH should be complete as I used the output from ant show-props to get it.
Thanks.I checked the jaxrpc-api.jar file using
jar -tf jaxrpc-api.jar
The contents (lsited below) does not contain javax/xml/rpc/Stub

NoClassDefFoundError running WS client
Hi all,
I'm developing a dynamix proxy client of a web service on Eclipse. I can compile the code without problems, but I get this error when executing the client:

I have included jaxrpc and saaj jar files in the "Run As" menu, but the error appears when the program should execute this line:
Service WSService = serviceFactory.createService(WSClientWsdlUrl, new QName(nameSpaceUri, serviceName));
Any idea?
Many thanks everybody.I found the response myself :-)
I'm using JWSDP 1.6. To solve the problem, I just included all the libraries contained in C:\Sun\jwsdp-1.6\jwsdp-shared\lib in the Run->Classpath menu and it worked. -
NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/sql/log/OpenSQLException
I have developed a Java project. It consists of 2 SQLJ files and then a Java class. When I try to execute the Java program, I get a Java error:
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/sql/log/OpenSQLException

I notice a similar problem on message: Re: Which jar to include com.sap.sql.log.OpenSQLException
Is that something that I need to maintain for it to work? Thank you.Hi,
the problem one year ago was that the SQLException class was not available through remote access. I don't know if that might have been changed meanwhile in the latest release.
I implemented a simple work around: I caught every SQL-exception in the method where it was thrown, wrapped the exception message and any nested exception in a self written exception and threw this new exception. That worked fine.

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
Am using java 1.3.1 on Red Hat Linux 7.1
i get this error
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
while running a simple program HelloWorld.java
helpWhen you use the "java" command, the only required argument is the name of the class that you want to execute. This argument must be a class name, not a file name, and class names are case sensitive. For example, "java HelloWorld.java" won't work because the class name isn't HelloWorld.java, it's HelloWorld. Similarly, "java helloworld" won't work because a class defined as "public class HelloWorld {" is not named helloworld due to case sensitivity. Finally, the .class file must be in a directory that is in the Classpath - that's where java.exe searches to find the file that contains the class.

When I create an EJB Transport Business Service, after selecting the jar that has the EJB 2.1 artefacts (Remote, Home, etc) the oepe plugin fails and can't continue.
As I understand it seems that there is a problem with the classpath of ant build.xml that oepe creates inside folder /tmp/alsbejbtransport/ to compile the bs and generate the wsdl. I checked if tools.jar is in the classpath (in eclipse) and is included, so I can't figure out wich is the problem.
I found this in Oracle, but not helps solve the problem:

PurnenduHi,
Redeploy the <b>com.sap.netweaver.bc.util.par</b> file and check if <b>bc.util.private_api.jar</b> file is present on your server.

Greetings,
Praveen Gudapati -
Hi,
I am having an issue with SAP adapter configuration. It throws below error in log files :
java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError: JCO.classInitialize(): Could not load middleware layer 'com.sap.mw.jco.rfc.MiddlewareRFC'
JCO.nativeInit(): Could not initialize dynamic link library sapjcorfc [no sapjcorfc in java.library.path]. java.library.path [opt/apps/Oracle/jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32/jre/lib/i386/client:/opt/apps/Oracle/jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32/jre/lib/i386:/opt/apps/Oracle/jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32/jre/../lib/i386:/opt/apps/Oracle/patch_wls1032/profiles/default/native:/opt/apps/Oracle/patch_jdev1111/profiles/default/native:/opt/apps/Oracle/jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32/jre/lib/i386/client:/opt/apps/Oracle/jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32/jre/lib/i386:/opt/apps/Oracle/jdk160_14_R27.6.5-32/jre/../lib/i386:/opt/apps/Oracle/patch_wls1032/profiles/default/native:/opt/apps/Oracle/patch_jdev1111/profiles/default/native:/opt/apps/Oracle/wlserver_10.3/server/native/linux/i686:/opt/apps/Oracle/wlserver_10.3/server/native/linux/i686/oci920_8:/opt/apps/Oracle/wlserver_10.3/server/native/linux/i686:/opt/apps/Oracle/wlserver_10.3/server/native/linux/i686/oci920_8:/opt/apps/Oracle/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/edifecs/XEngine/bin:/opt/apps/Oracle/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/edifecs/XEngine/bin]
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.sap.mw.jco.JCO
Invoking SAP targets from bpel or iwafjca test servlet fails with "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class com.sap.mw.jco.JCO."
I am able to connect from Application Explorer(AE) and browse through idocs and bapis. I tried to check the class loading pattern for AE using Jconsole :
1. Started the AE
2. /opt/apps/Oracle/jdk1.6.0_19/bin/jps
15279 BseFlashScreen
3. /opt/apps/Oracle/jdk1.6.0_19/bin/jconsole 15279
Enabled verbose output on class loading page and connected to SAP target from AE
4. The verbose output shows below :
Loaded com.sap.mw.jco.JCO from file:/opt/apps/Oracle/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/ApplicationAdapters/lib/sapjco.jar
I have added the above path to my LD_LIBRARY_PATH
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:${WL_HOME}/server/native/linux/${arch}:${MW_HOME}/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/ApplicationAdapters/lib:${MW_HOME}/user_projects/domains/base_domain/lib:${WL_HOME}/server/native/linux/${arch}/oci920_8
I also added the path to WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH in commEnv.sh file.
The sapjco.jar, libsapjcorfc.so and librfccm.so files are also available under below directories
WL_HOME/server/lib
MW_HOME/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/ApplicationAdapters/lib
MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/base_domain/lib
Any suggestions will be really helpful.
Regards
SubhankarHi Manoj,
I have added the libsapjcorfc.so and librfccm.so files to below locations:
WL_HOME/server/lib
MW_HOME/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/ApplicationAdapters/lib
MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/base_domain/lib
And also set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH in commEnv.sh file.
Eg:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:${WL_HOME}/server/native/linux/${arch}:${MW_HOME}/Oracle_SOA1/soa/thirdparty/ApplicationAdapters/lib:${MW_HOME}/user_projects/domains/base_domain/lib:${WL_HOME}/server/native/linux/${arch}/oci920_8
Is there any other location where these need to be added ? I hope library path/system path refers to the WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH ?
Regards
Subhankar -

Looks like your CLASSPATH is not set properly...Just try to Put the Jar inside "<DOMAIN_HOME>\lib" directory...in that case u need not to alter anything in the Classpath variable...it will be appended at the end of Classpath at the run time, Using Extended Directory ClassLoader.
by default Classpath settings doesnt take effect if we specify it in the startScript of Servers but we start them using NodeManagers...So if you are using Nodemanagers to start your Servers... then you can follow the below link to set the Classpath & Memory Arguments http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/03/26/nodemanager-based-managedservers-setting-mem_args/

thanks for the replies.
well i guess that(user authentication) is not the problem.
Coz that happens even before i start the web service.
i guess the problem is that the appl. is not finding the TaskMonitor class ( see the last 10 lines of the log).
does anyone have a solution for that.
thanks -

Either a missing jar or the classpath is not defined right. -
Hi there,
I'm trying to generate Java Proxies for SAPJCO using the SAP Java Connectivity Builder (JCB). I got it from the NetWeaver 6.20 Release. The tool installs and runs properly but after putting in the connection properties and klicking "next", the application hangs. When activating System output, I get the error shown below.
I already tried to put all jar files contained in the C:\JBuilder5\lib\ext directiry into the classpath (but none of them contains the class mentioned).
Which is the right (standalone) tool for generating Java Proxies for a standalone Java application?
If it is JCB, is there a bug on the version I use (NetWeaver Release 6.20)?
Any help would be apreciated.
