NoClassDefFoundError when using a classpath switch

Hello,
When i try to run some code on a solaris machine i am getting a noclassdeffound when I try to execute my main class
the command im using to execute is
/usr/j2sdk1.4.2_05/bin/java -classpath "/opt/TimesTen/5_0/jdbc/lib/classes14.jar;/usr/j2sdk1.4.2_05;." Mainmy main class is
import java.io.*;
import java.net.*;
import java.sql.*;
public class Main {
        public static void main(String[] args)  {
                Server sv = new Server();
                sv.start();
}I don't have access to create a class path so im just trying to set it from the command line, however if i just issue java Main the program runs. This is on Solaris 8

On Solaris the classpath element seperator is a colon, not a semi-colon like it is in Windows.
... -classpath /opt/TimesTen/5_0/jdbc/lib/classes14.jar:. ...
Sigh Too late, as already covered by another poster above.
But this still applies:
... And there should be no need to include /usr/j2sdk1.4.2_05 in the classpath.

  • OS 10.4.6. has broken dialup connectivity when using fast user switching

    I installed OS 10.4.6. It seems to have broken dialup connectivity when using fast user switching when switching from one user to the next.
    For dialup, it is extreamly annoying that I can not resume downloading a file from were it got cut off, but now, if another user wants to check their email, my download always gets broken and has to be restarted. Dialup is slow enough with out having to start from scratch even more frequently, now.
    Also, in earlier versions of 10.2 or 10.3 (I don't remember which), I was able to switch users and maintain listening to a single users' iTunes.
    I would like to be able to switch users and not lose either my dialup network connection or the primary users currently playing iTunes songs.
    Perhaps for iTunes, one should be able to chose to mute another users' instance of iTunes, if it is currently playing.
    Mini-Mac 1.42GHz 80GB BT/AE   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    I have not tried replicating this but might be able to provide some additional information.
    We use network login accounts on our desktop computers. Fast User switching deliberately will not work for multiple network login accounts. (Remember network login accounts normally also have an associated network home directory mounted via AFP.)
    Now a bit of background about volumes and mount points under Mac OS X. Under Mac OS X, any additional drive (or more accurately 'volume') is listed under the 'Volumes' folder, remember also that Mac OS X is a Unix operating system. So just as normal for Unix, the boot drive is '/' or the root level and Volumes is a folder in it. The underlying Mac OS X software automatically 'attaches' and additional volumes as sub-folders in the 'Volumes' folder (in Unix speak these are called 'Mount Points'), if you have an external hard-disc called 'Fred' then this would be represented by the following path
    /Volumes/Fred
    If you happen to have two volumes with the same name connected at the same time then while in the Finder they may show up with the same name, in Unix they would have different names automatically assigned to keep them separate like so
    /Volumes/Fred
    /Volumes/Fred 1
    Now getting back to the Fast User switching problem and AFP volumes, when you login to a File Server volume it also is automatically added to the Volumes folder, so if we have a File Server volume called 'Shared' it would look like
    /Volumes/Shared
    With Fast User switching potentially both user accounts could be accessing the same /Volumes/Shared which means both user accounts would be talking to the server via the same File Server login, hence the possibility for one of the Fast User accounts to be using the 'wrong' permissions.

  • VM Activation problem when using Internal Virtual Switch mode

    Hello,
    I have setup Windows 2012 R2 Standard Version host machine.  Hyper-V setup successful. Host machine already activate license.
    I have got a problem is when VM connecting with Internal virtual Switch.  It will not able to process Windows activation.  If it connected using External Virtual Switch, it can successful do windows activation.  However, using External Virtual
    Switch, one more WAN IP will be used.
    I am using ICS method to share the network interface to Internal Virtual Switch.
    Is it what problem and how to resolve it?
    Thanks!

    Hi Gyorgy,
    What is the version of your guest operating system? Why not we create an External Virtual switch to access Internet when using Hyper-V guest system? (Some reference if needed:Hyper-V Virtual Switch

  • NoClassDefFoundError when using URLClassLoader

    Hi,
    I have an applet which tries to load a jar file dynamically. I am giving the code snippet here.
    loader = new URLClassLoader(new URL[] { new URL("http://localhost:4095/jars/dynamicload.jar") });
    m_class = loader.loadClass("loader.DynamicLoadedClass");
    (loader.DynamicLoadedClass) prntr = (loader.DynamicLoadedClass) m_class.newInstance();
    But this is throwing a NoClassDefFoundError when I try to cast the new instance to a DynamicLoadedClass.
    Can anybody help me correct this problem?
    Thanks
    Unni

    It will be happening when your code tries to access loader.DynamicLoadedClass for the cast. When a class accesses another class implicitly it asks the ClassLoader that loaded it for the class. That will presumably be the standard class loader that points to the classpath, and knows nothing about your dynamically loaded class.
    Really if you mention a class to the compiler then there's no point in trying to load it dynamically, since you must already have it locally to do the compilation.
    Usually you know that an dynamically loaded class will conform to some abstract class or interface you have locally, and you cast the new instance to that. That works because standard classloader delegation means your URLClassLoader will take classes from the class path if they are there.

  • NoClassDefFoundError when using ServerErrorListener

    Hi,
    I've got a java-programm using JCo 2.1.6. I wrapped up this programm with the jsl-tool to use that programm as a windows service. Now the connection process stands still when calling addClientPool. Therefore i tried to implement the ServerErrorListener and ServerExceptionListener to check whether I got further information because when I'm running that programm directly all is working well. Now I'm getting a NoClassDefFoundError when starting the programm. I'm a little bit buzzeled what's wrong. What jars do I need to get both listeners?
    Thanks
    Markus

    Hi Markus,
    Both exceptions are located in the jrfc.jar file.
    It can also be the case that one of the exception classes needs another class which is located in another jar, if you get my point. For that you should have a really close look at the log file, what is really causing the noclassdeffounderror.
    Kind regards,
    Peter

  • Can no longer simultaneously stream an mp3 in Safari when using fast user switching option.

    After updating to ios 5, I can no longer stream an mp3 in Safari when I use the fast user switching option.  For instance, if you are listening to streaming content in a Safari tab and want to reference another app as soon as you switch from the Safari stream pauses.
    This was not the case with previous versions of ios.  Any ideas on a work around to restore this functionality to keep Safarr streaming content in the background?

    User switching problems is the very first thing I noticed with SL. I have a host of other problems with SL but this is one of the most frustrating. The user switching did not work on 10.6 very well either but was wicked fast in 10.5.x
    Apple rewrote the Kernel so this type of thing is expected, still the test crew missed this very noticable problem. Hopefully 10.6.2 has a fix.

    When i listen music on my iphone 4 using podcast (training session  workout) i switched to radio-canada live and after a while it start to stop and start radio-canada live and voice control stop and start by itself???

    I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
    As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
    I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
    As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

  • NoClassDefFoundError when using Runtime to call a shell script

    I have a java program that uses the Runtime.exec method to call a shell script that then calls another java program (the shell script and 2nd java program are a 3rd party product I have to call).
    When I run my program as root, it works fine. When I run it as a regular user, I get the following error message:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: 'argument'
    In the error message above, "argument" is just an argument I had to pass to the shell script, which then calls the 2nd java program. It is this second java program that is throwing this exception it seems. This is all in Linux (RH AdvSrvr 2.5). If I call the shell script on the command line as the regular user, not from the java program, it works fine; but I NEED to call it from the java program... it's a long story.
    I have check Environment variables, system properties under both users during the processes and I cannot find any major difference. I have checked file permissions and everything.
    Does anybody have a clue what is going on here? Please help me, thank you!

    Okay, we found the problem. Our in-house MASTER OF ALL found it. The argument that the jvm was trying to load as a class needed to be in quotes according to documentation, but the shell escapes out the quotes when run on the command line, whereas in my java process it was not, therefore the jvm thought it needed to load it as a class.
    Clear as mud?

  • Hyper-V host 1Gbps NIC negotiated at 100 Mbps when used for Virtual Switch

    Hi all,
    Hoping someone can shed some light on this one as I’ve been trying to hunt down a solution for a week now.
    Setup
    HP ProLiant ML350 G6 with HP NC326i PCIe Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter network adapters
    Windows Server 2008 R2 Core with only the Hyper-V role installed
    SBS 2011 installed as guest
    Port 1 on Dual port NIC configured a physical port or management of Host only
    Port 2 on Dual port NIC configured for use as an External Virtual Switch port for use by guests only
    The issue is that the physical port connected to the Hyper-V virtual Switch negotiates with the network switch at 100 Mbps full duplex while the management port negotiates at 1 Gbps full duplex. All clients (brand new HP Z210 workstations) also negotiate
    with the switch at 1 Gbps.
    During file copies and backups the network port connected to the Virtual Switch does not show any errors and transfers data at close to 100 Mbps. File transfers between individual workstations and workstations and server core again show no errors, but transfers
    at 1 Gbps.
    One observation is that the physical NIC connected to the Virtual Switch does not negotiate with the switch until the Hyper-V service has started (I’m guessing) the virtual switch.
    Also, while staging the server the Hyper-V virtual switch created when the server was connected to a 100 Mbps switch not a 1Gbps switch as it is in production.
    Has anyone encountered anything similar and if so how did you get the physical NIC to operate at full capabilities? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    I purchased one gigabyte switch for home used several days ago, I just performed some copy tests between virtual machines and physical machines(not
    Hyper-V host machine)in the same LAN, the average copy speed is 350Mb/s.

  • Getting error when using the "/parameter" switch in command line run

    Has anyone experienced this problem before?
    My report queries over 100,000 records from a view. When the report is run from the command line every thing works fine.
    But when I add a condition using a "parameter", although the report still runs fine from the destop, when launched from the command line it errs.
    "Oracle Discoverer Desktop has encountered a problem and needs to close. ..."
    "The instruction at "0x0044397c" referenced memory at "0x0000004e". The memory cound not be "read"...."
    I'm guessing its a memory issue with my PC. I've tested using a parameter with other reports using fewer records and it doesn't err from the command line.
    I can work around the issue by not using a parameter but then I have 20 versions of the same report each with a different condition.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Lise McGillis

    Hi Michael,
    I'm using an DELL Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz with 1 GB of RAM. We use Microsoft Windows XP Prof version 2002.
    As for Discoverer we are using 10G, Desktop Client 10.1.2.48.18 - 1047500 KB available memory , 2099744 KB Free disk space.
    I'm not sure I have acess to a computer with more RAM but I'm looking into it.
    What I'm frustrated by is the fact that the parameter works fine when run directly from the desktop but when passed from the command line it bombs... but only when dealing with mega records.

  • Backup-Spsite giving error when using -usesqlsnapshot

    Good morning,
    Some of our site collection backups are failing with a system.exception error, but only when using the -usesqlsnapshot switch on the powershell command.  They work fine when not using this switch.
    We need the switch because the backups often last longer than overnight lock site collections during the business day without the sqlsnapshot being used.
    Thanks in advance for any insight into this issue!
    Kevin

    Hi,
     There are three requirements that need to be met in order to allow usage of usesqlsnapshot. These are:
    Farm must be running SQL Server 2008 (Enterprise Edition) with Service Pack 1 and Cumulative Update 2 or higher.
    To prevent the error
    'Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.' Service Pack 1 must be applied to the farm.
    The SQL FILESTREAM provider cannot be used in conjunction with the
    -UseSqlSnapshot parameter as the
    SQL FILESTREAM provider does not support snapshots.

  • Colors get weird and messed up when using mplayer

    When using mplayer, or switching to one of the ttys and then back to X, the colors on my screen change and become weird looking.  I tried taking a screenshot, but it came out looking normal. The best picture I could find that resembles the colors on my screen - http://ryan.com.br/imagens/blog/radeon_ … lo(50).jpg
    I'm using the Open-source ATI drivers, without a xorg.conf (using HAL instead).
    Last edited by ayalgu (2009-06-26 13:47:13)

    Also, the problem occurs when even when attaching to a separate monitor, and does not occur on windows, leading me to the conclusion that it's solely a software problem.
    Anybody have any suggestion / ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi thanks for the reply.  Yes I have used the ACR view to specify which inputs to use before.  I used input 0 for the positive limit, input 1 for the negative limit, and input 2 for the home switch.  However, when using ACR view the switch kept displaying that the switch had been tripped when nothing was pressing against it.  I would also try pressing on the mechanical switch to see at least if the value would change but to no avail.

  • Compiler error when useing switch statements in an inner class

    I have defined several constants in a class and want to use this constans also in an inner class.
    All the constants are defined as private static final int.
    All works fine except when useing the switch statement in the inner class. I get the compiler error ""constant expression required". If I change the definition from private static final to protected static final it works, but why?
    What's the difference?
    Look at an example:
    public class Switchtest
       private static final int AA = 0;
       protected static final int BB = 1;
       private static int i = 0;
       public Switchtest()
          i = 0; // <- OK
          switch(i)
             case AA: break; //<- OK, funny no problem
             case BB: break; //<- OK
             default: break;
      private class InnerClass
          public InnerClass()
             i = 0; // <- OK: is accessible
             if (AA == i) // <- OK: AA is seen by the inner class; i  is also accessible
                i = AA + 1;
             switch(i)
                case AA: break; // <- STRANGE?! Fail: Constant expression required
                case BB: break; // <- OK
                default: break;
    }Thank's a lot for an explanation.

    Just a though:
    Maybe some subclass of Switchtest could decalare its own variable AA that is not final, but it can not declare its own BB because it is visible from the superclass. Therefore the compiler can not know for sure that AA is final.

    When I connect to wi to, does 3G automatically switch off my iphone4s as I seem to be using a lot of data even when using wi fi at home ?? Thank you

    Hi,
    As far as I know, when you have a WiFi-connection all data will go through WiFi and therefor will NOT use your 3G data.
    Kind regards,

    Hi all, I have a task that runs a Powershell script on a set schedule on a particular machine.  It has failed to run and I thought 1 of the potential reasons would be that FEP 2010 blocks the Powershell script from being run.  Does FEP 2010 do that?
