Node Processing AudioUnits

Sorry if this has been discussed already. I can't seem to find a definitive answer.
Is this possible? The Logic manual seems to imply that node processing only works on Logic instruments/effects... If it does work on audiounits that would rock!
Also, if I was to hook up 2 iMacs as a node, can I use a regular ethernet cable to join them or do I need a crossover cable?
thanks

Yeah, you asked me what was cool about the environment and I replied, but instead of relpying with a complete answer I answered somewhat, linked you to swiftkick, and asked you what you thought.
If you're curious about the enviro Swiftkick is completely worth checking out, getting familiar with some things people have done in the enviro. Much of user customization of the enviro comes down to signal flow and simple manipulations of data (simple math). In the end these simple manipulations can become very complex because of relationships and processes. If you like what you hear or what can be accomplished then let me know and I can answer Q's and get you started. Just using it to accomplish simple tasks and learning the modules (there really aren't very many-half of them are faders, many of which have identical function). So yeah, when you can't make music one night just spend an hour going through some of the resources there-if you are interested in what it can offer. I also directed you there so you can see what it offers.
Like Mike said, the enviro is rad-but alot of people make the simple mistakes of either fearing it or trying to tackle it all at once. If you find yourself editing and manipulating MIDI recordings throughout various editors in Logic, the environment will allow you to do much of that in realtime. It's also handy for other things. • RAC node process using 25% physical memory

We have a QA server is non-RAC, and production is two-node RAC. We have a migration app that does an INSERT from SELECT over 2 instances. All of the machines have been in successful day-to-day use for several months...our only troublespot seems to be the migration app.
Today we started the app on the QA server and watched the oracle processes using top. They ran normally and finished without any problems.
The same app started on either of the RAC nodes produced process memory errors and died.
As the app ran, there was a process reading the data from the source instance and a process writing to the target instance. We confirmed this by querying the session data. It doesn't matter which of the nodes runs which target process...the result is the same.
The reading process(session) on the source instance seems to run normally. The write process on the target instance, however, begins slowly accumulating memory in about 16M chunks and holds on to them.
We saw this in the RES and in the MEM columns of top. The target process never released any memory, but slowly grabbed it until its
RES was 4GB and the %MEM was about 30%. The app then died with process memory error. This is reproducible over several runs.
( Per Metalink Note 567506.1, the recommended value for Linux 64-bit is 4294967295 ..we have that set. )
There are other oracle processes and instances running on both nodes which do not seem to be affected. The total number of processes on each machine is around 750..much lower than the nprocs ulimit of 63K.
These process are both oracle sessions spawned by the app.
I haven't seen any info on the web or Metalink that matches these symptoms, so I thought I'd try the experts.
Why would the write session continuously use up physical memory, but only on RAC nodes?
We are running RHEL5 on Dell Poweredge 2950 w 16K Physical mem. Version of 10g is R2.0.4.

We saw this in the RES and in the MEM columns of top. The target process never released any memory, but slowly grabbed it until its
RES was 4GB and the %MEM was about 30%. How does the writer process work? Does it use PL/SQL? Does it use bulk processing? How does it call the reader process? Or does the reader process call it? Is this over a database link.
The app then died with process memory error. This is reproducible over several runs.If this is an Oracle server process, then there should be an entry in the alert log of the instance that recorded the crash and includes the name of the trace file generated by the crash.

  • EP7.0 - Adding server nodes (processes) and managing all the logs

First, can anyone confirm whether the Template Configuration Tool is used with Portal 7.0 (NW2004s)?  All of the documentation I find is for Portal 6.0.  If you use the Template Configuration Tool, it will match the resources available on your server to the type of J2EE you will be running which is the route I prefer to take.  Otherwise, I'll add the nodes manually with configtool.
Second, is it a best practice to just stick to one server node (server0) on your DEV system?  I would think that would make analyzing all of those fun logs much easier.
Third, are there any best practices for managing all of those logs if you start adding additional nodes.  I have server0 on the QA system with 2048MB of Heap.  I plan to add server1, server2 and server3 ... all with 2048MB of Heap.  But then the number of logs is 4 times for everything.  The Portal Tuning guide suggests turning off unnecessary logging which I will do but our developers want a convenient way to do research and we don't want them overwhelmed with logs.
We are setting up Solution Manager Diagnostics now so I haven't seen it's functionality.  Will it make log anaysis more streamlined and easier to find relevant data even if you have 4 server nodes?

    Hi Richard,
A1: NO!!! do not use the Template Configuration Tool on NW7.0 as it sets properties that are not valid or optimal anymore.
A2: I don't know if there is a best practice about it but I do know that it is best practice to have atleast 2 servernodes per instance because this helps you top optimize your resources when 1 servernode is in Full Garbage Collection the other still can use the CPU to process (Presented on SAP Insider Infra & Admin in Orlando 2008).
A3: Regarding the logging This is just how it is made... every servernode logs for itsself...
Use NetWeaver Administrator (/nwa) to auto consoldate the loggin info. It's slow but eventualy it does the job. You can give developers an NWA read-only role (shipped by default) to look at the logs.
A4: SMD makes central monitoring and diagnostic possible for your complete landscape.
You can configure a central NWA on the SMD host. The solution as proposed by A3 is already helping you to manage your issue (consolidating logs of multiple servernodes.. >2 )
    Good Luck!

  • Detect server node processing a http request

Is there any way to detect which server node is answering a http request? For debug purposes I would like to add the cluster element to the output of a jsp. Maybe it is also possible to force a jsp being processed by a given node?
Thanks in advance for your answers!
    Best regards,
    Frank

    Hi Violeta,
Thanks for your answer! This has been very helpful indeed.
However, I´m still a bit puzzled. Replacing the saplb cookie forces the load balancer to use the given server, but the JSESSIONID does not change. Looking at the application data I know that I´m talking to a different server, but I still don´t seem to have a way to tell which server ansered - except my expectation that the saplb cookie might have been taken into account by the server.
Isn´t there a more sophisticated way to access this kind of information? Escpecially, getting a list of all available servers would be great, as this would allow to choose the server having a look at.
    Best regards,
    Frank

  • Node is not processing

    Hallo friends,
after years of using Logic I am trying to set up a Node. Without success
What works: a LAN connection between my two Macs. I used automatic configuration, under TCP/IP Configured IPv4 Using DHCP.
I can connect to the file server from / to each of my Macs. I can mount hard drives, share internet connections...
I installed Logic Node app on my MacBook and I used the Logic Node installer located in utilities folder on my dualG5 (I am trying to use MacBook as a node and Dual G5 as a Master computer).
I started the Node app on MacBook first, than launched Logic app on dualG5. Without opening new project I opened Preferences / Audio / Nodes. Now: I can see my MacBook available (not with grey letters). No box is checked (near "Enable Logic Nodes" or near "MacBook" under Node). So I check "Enable Logic Nodes". I can see *Initializing Core Audio* is working. Than I try to check the box near my MacBook node, but I can' t. The whole line turns into darker grey as soon as I select the checkbox, but nothing happens. when I try to select it another time, the popup window occurs and says:
*Logic Pro lost the connection to the Node "MacBook"*
Please relaunch Node application or check network connection
My network connection seems to work fine, I can log in, mount drives, share internet... The Node app seems to be or it' s icon looks like connected in MacBook dock (and it says "Connected to G5"). What I found out is, that if I try to Quit the Node app on MacBook either when Logic is running on G5 or after I quit Logic on G5, I am never able to quit Node app on my MacBook normally as it stops responding, when I try to quit it. I always have to Force Quit this Node app...
Now the second way I tried: started Node app on MacBook, launched Logic on dualG5. Opened Preferences / Audio / Nodes. Nothing is checked AND NOW I CHECKED the checkbox near the MacBook node FIRST. It can be done (remember nothing happened when I tried to check it after I checked "Enable Logic Nodes" checkbox). Than I checked "Enable Logic Nodes" , seems to be OK. The Node on MacBook says and looks like connected...
I opened a project and created approx. 10 audio tracks. I inserted Linear phase EQs, Logic compressors, Deessers, EQs to them. I also inserted whole lot of Waves SSL bundle to some tracks, but kept Logic native and Waves plugins separate. The system was pretty maxed out. Now the maximum I could get whenassign a track to a Node processing, was that the Track Node button showed green arrow, but did not light green. Whing according to manual is: Sync Pending and not Enabled/Active. I even could see some tracks Enabled/Inactive.
After spending last 24+ hours how to figure it out, I am asking for help.
Here are some answers I expect you might ask:
-yes, I have same versions of Logic and Node
-yes, I have Waves SSL bundle installed on my MacBook, same version as on DualG5
-yes, I tried it with native Logic plugins only
-yes, the Firewall is OFF on both machines (Preferences / Sharing)
    - I unchecked all Ports except "Built in Ethernet" on dualG5 and "Airport" and "Built in Ethernet" on MacBook in Preferences / Network Port Configurations
-yes, I tried it with "Airport" unchecked also
-yes, I tried to reboot many times - both machines. I put Node app into login items on MacBook. I tried to shut both machines of, start MacBook first, make sure Node is "on", started dualG5, launched Logic...
-yes, I inserted so many plugins to so many tracks that may dualG5 gave me "System Overload" message everytime I tried to playback the project, but Node did not start to process...
-no, I am not networking genius
-yes, I tried different LAN cable (CAT5 always, one "crossed" or "cross-patched")
-I've got Parallels and WinXP installed on my MacBook, but they never run, when I tried Node setup (actually, I am almost never using them )
    Any ideas appreciated, thank you.

I'd start with something simple - one audio track, with one Logic plugin.
Can you get a solid green node light on that? if not, no point trying anything more complicated until you can get this fixed.
Note - I briefly tried it with my MBP and my old Powerbook as a node, and it worked fine without any particular headaches setting it up...

  • Exclude a hierarchy node by using exit variable (not in query designer)

    Hi gurus!!
I have a hierarchy for the infoObject 0COSTELMNT. Depending on the user who executes the report, the node '0599ADJUSTMENTS' must be displayed or not.
I am trying to solve it by using an exit variable:
    Varible Type: Hierarchy Node
    Processing : Exit
On the exit, I have entered the following code:
          IF ( sy-subrc = 0 ).
              l_s_range-sign = 'E' .
              l_s_range-opt  = 'EQ' .
              l_s_range-low = 'AJUSTES'.
              APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
         ENDIF.
    But unfortunately does no work!!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

  • HDL node not picking up push button signals

    Hello,
I am trying to design a vending machine using sbRIO and Labview HDL node. But my HDL node doesn't seem to pick signals from push button (latched when released). I have successfully done the same thing using labview blocks but not geting desired results by HDL node. Thanks, NapDynamite. However, you just included your Project (not the actual VI) on the attachment. A good way to include all of the dependencies is to create a source distribution (LLB).
Right-click on Build Specifications, select New»Source Distribution
Under Distribution Settings, select Custom as your Packaging Option
Check the Destination is LLB box and click OK on the warning.
Choose the Destination Path where you would like the LLB to be saved
Click Build to create the LLB, or click OK to save the Build Specifications.

  • Node.js loss of permission to write/create log files

We have been operating Node.js as a worker role cloud service. To track server activity, we write log files (via log4js) to C:\logs
Originally the logging was configured with size-based roll-over. e.g. new file every 20MB. I noticed on some servers the sequencing was uneven
    socket.log <-- current active file
    socket.log.1
    socket.log.3
    socket.log.5
    socket.log.7
    it should be
    socket.log.1
    socket.log.2
    socket.log.3
    socket.log.4
Whenever there is uneven sequence, i realise the beginning of each file revealed the Node process was restarted. From Windows Azure event log, it further indicated worker role hosting mechanism found node.exe to have terminated abruptly.
With no other information to clue what is exactly happening, I thought there was some fault with log4js roll over implementation (updating to latest versions did not help). Subsequently switched to date-based roll-over mode; saw that roll-over happened every
midnight and was happy with it.
However some weeks later I realise the roll-over was (not always, but pretty predictably) only happening every alternate midnight.
    socket.log-2014-06-05
    socket.log-2014-06-07
    socket.log-2014-06-09
And each file again revealed that midnight the roll-over did not happen, node.exe was crashing again. Additional logging on uncaughtException and exit happens showed nothing; which seems to suggest node.exe was killed by external influence (e.g. process
kill) but it was unfathomable anything in the OS would want to kill node.exe.
Additionally, having two instances in the cloud service, we observe the crashing of both node.exe within minutes of each other. Always. However if we had two server instances brought up on different days, then the "schedule" for crashing would
be offset by the difference of the instance launch dates.
Unable to trap more details what's going on, we tried a different logging library - winston. winston has the additional feature of logging uncaughtExceptions so it was not necessary to manually log that. Since winston does not have date-based roll-over it
went back to size-based roll-over; which obviously meant no more midnight crash.
Eventually, I spotted some random midday crash today. It did not coincide with size-based rollover event, but winston was able to log an interesting uncaughtException.

Interesting question: the Node process _was_ writing to socket1.log all along; why would there be a sudden EPERM error?
On restart it could resume writing to the same log file. Or in previous cases it would seem like the lack of permission to create a new log file.
Any clues on what could possibly cause this? On a "scheduled" basis per server? Given that it happens so frequently and in sync with sister instances in the cloud service, something is happening in the back scenes which I cannot put a finger to.

    Hi,
It is  strange. From your description, how many instances of your worker role? Do you store the log file on your VM local disk? To avoid this question, the best choice is you could store your log file into azure storage blob . If you do this, all log
file will be stored on blob storage. About how to use azure blob storage, please see this docs:
    http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/storage-introduction/
    Please try it.
If I misunderstood, please let me know.

  • Node over Firewire

I have a dual G4 that is connected to a MBP 17" over fire wire. I can see the node listed in the node list. I can see the meter for the node load. File sharing is on and firewalls are disabled, but none of the nodes light for any track. I am running a session that is maxing both G4 processors so the node should kick in. I also only see 1 core in the node, and I believe it should be 2 just like the G4.
Also, which state means the node is enabled for a track. Is it the one with three dots, or the one with 2 triangles facing away from each other. Also if I have any 3rd party plugs on a track does that disqualify it from being processed on a node. As well would bussing a track to buss with 3rd party plugs negate the node process.
    Thanks

yep, for me nodes are a nice idea but pretty much no use at all until it supports 3rd party plug ins.. it's not that they're less efficient per sé, it's just that a lot of them are quite complex algorithms and use a fair bit of CPU juice. when that gets addressed the whole idea will look more interesting to me.
I'm not sure about whether having a 3rd party plug on a track will stop it from being processed on a node, for the other effects on it that are not 3rd party ones. you should test it out.. see if it works when you just have logic plug ins and nothing else. my feeling would be that it doesn't work. however, moving the 3rd party ones to buses and sending signal to it might be a workaround. again, test it out. I do seem to recall that the node button should light up if it's working..
btw, it's the two triangles that means you are sending to a node, the three dots is idle.

  • Manually input ( or type ) the value of the node in hierarchy

    Dear all,
I have the following requirement :
In the query, I am using a hierarchy node variable. Now, by default, on the selection screen the valued can be passed to this hierarchy node var. by a drill down on the hierarchy on which the variable is created and selecting one of the nodes.
Now, I would like to manually input ( or type ) the value of the node instead of performing the drilldown on the hierarchy and selecting the node..
It is this possible for a hierarchy node variable ?
    Thanks,
    Kenps

    Hi Carlos,
You create a Variable with following selections
Type of variable : Hierarchy node
    processing : Manual Input/Default value
Reference Char : Mention the CHAR that contain this hierarchy
Define it as SIngle value & Mandatory entry.user can see all the nodes in F4 help and selects the node as he wants
    Hope it helps

and processed one more ASN for this ASN also got same work flow error.
could you please suggest the solution to avoid this error.
it is customized work flow but we are getting WF standard error.
    thanks

According to error, it appears that child flow activity trying to push the parent flow notified activity. Could be that parent flow is not ready/notified when child tries to push it.. Check for timings of 1)  begin and end times of child activity 2) begin & end times of parent activity . If this is timing issue, add defer activity for child flow to wait till parent flow comes to required status.

  • BPM 7.2, process translation guide

    Good day!
I'm creating a process in BPM 7.2 and as I can see there is a feature to translate processes by using xlf files. But I was failed to find any documents elaborates the procedure of translation... If anybody have done that task I would be really appreciate the help.

    Hi Kirill,
The official documentation about this feature will be avaialbale on the help portal with the SP02 release of 7.20, in the beginnig of March.
In the meantime, you can follow this procedure to be able to translate language specific attributes (the formatting is lost, unfortunately):
    Translating Language-Specific Attributes in BPM
When you model a process, language-specific content is automatically stored in a resource file. For different types of elements containing text, a corresponding resource file is created. These files are of S2X format and use the XLF file extension. To edit XLF files, you use the S2X editor in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
In SAP NetWeaver Business Process Management (BPM) translation is supported for the following elements:
    Element
    XLF File
    Located in Node
    Process
    <process name>.bpmn.xlf
    bpmn
    Task
    <task name>.task.xlf
    tasks
    Function
    <function name>.function.xlf
    functions
    Ruleset/Flow Ruleset
    <ruleset/flow ruleset name>.function.xlf
    functions
    Event Trigger
    <event trigger name>.eventdef.xlf
    triggers
    Reporting Data Source
    <reporting data source name>.eventdef.xlf
    reporting
You have to translate only attributes that are flagged with yes in the Translate column of the S2X editor.
The XLF files contain the texts in the language that you determined when you created the Process Composer project. For every language version other than this original language, you create a copy of the XLF file and enter the language-specific translations. Languages other than the original language are referred to as source languages.
Translated texts are included in the build when you build your project and are displayed at runtime after you deploy the project to the application server. For example, you can see translated task attributes when you log into the Universal Worklist (UWL) to execute a task. Displaying the translated text depends on the language defined for the user with which you log into the UWL.
If no translation is available, the task is displayed in the original language.
    Prerequisites
You have created a Process Composer project and elements containing language-specific attributes.
You have opened the Process Development perspective in the Developer Studio and have expanded your project in the Project Explorer view.
    Procedure
Expand the src node and then expand the corresponding node containing the XLF file you want to translate.
Copy the XLF file within its node.
Number of copies depends on the number of languages you want to translate to.
Add an underscore (_) and the corresponding two-character language code according to ISO standard to the name of a copied XLF file before the XLF extension.
    Example
The name of the original process attributes XLF file is MyProcess.bpmn.xlf and you want to translate the attributes to German. You add an underscore (_) and de, which is the language code for German. The result is a file named MyProcess.bpmn_de.xlf.
    End of the example.
In the context menu of the language-specific file, choose  Open With  S2X Document Editor .
On the Header tab page, select a source language from the Source Language dropdown list.
On the Resource Text tab page, select an entry relevant for translation and choose the Edit pushbutton.
Enter the required translation and choose the OK pushbutton.
Save, build, and deploy your project.

  • PI Cluster. Which Node is used for a specific msg.

    Hi,
We are about to test our new PI cluster. Node1 and Node2.
From SAP R3 I now send 100 msg to Cluster PI (Node1 and Node2).
For a specific message I want to see which Node processed it.
Where can I see that ? (SXMB_MONI is and the "hop list" is not predictable....we tested that...)
    Any Pointers ?
    Br, Martin

  • OEM 2.2 not discovering nodes

Between the space of 2 days, OEM has chosen to not
refresh/drop/discover any nodes. It tries to but stalls out
at "Discovery Wizard, step 2 of 2: Progress" at 96%. It is 96%
for all nodes, remote and local. If allowed to sit long enough,
the OMS service will shutdown. Is it possible to force manual
configuration of the nodes without going thru the Discovery
    Wizard first?

    Hi
I am not aware whether you can force manual discovery without
going through Discover Nodes process. You can, however, stop the
agent and do discovery. This might (I hope) expedite the
discovery process and lead you to manual discovery quickly.
BTW with a manual discovery you lose major functionality of OEM

  • Logic Node 9 not working with mac mini

MBP late 2008 4gb ram 500gb hd + New Mac Mini 2009 Base with 1gb ram
Logic Node installed - settings under audio checked... etc
    Node working (slightly) see picture
I had to unplug the edirol keyboard, brother laser printer, fw800 drives, 3 usb hard drives, external alu keyboard griffin powermate and turn off airport to get working.
then after it was working I would still get overload messages (see below)
barely sending anything to the node...

    any ideas?
    thanx
    michael

1.) when node not working it appears to be the fw800 drives
    2) when it does work - no major node processing
