I see your testing CS6. I have two questions for you.
First question did Adobe fix the two Action Player reported bugs they deferred from fixing in CS5? The first effects actions that recorded Adjustment Layers that apply to all do not always play correctly instead they are being effected by the Adjistment Panel's cipping icon status when it should have no bearing on how these recorded action works. This bug effect every action ever recorded that add an adjustment layer that applys to all layers.  The second bug happens when an action with a recorded layer styles that use a contour other then the default contour is played. The player opens a layer style dialog rather then using the recorded contour.
My second question is there anything in CS6 you find compelling other then ACR 7?

I haven't tested that, but I will try to get to it.  I can say that all my commercial actions and plug-ins work perfectly in Photoshop CS6, so I'm happy not to have to do anything beyond update the plug-in installers.
My second question is there anything in CS6 you find compelling other then ACR 7?
I've been using it to do a lot of the photo work I normally do, and through that I am discovering these things:
1.  I'm able to continue to work the way I want, without having to unravel my worflow and rebuild it from scratch.  Win!
2.  I'm discovering new or slightly different ways to do the same things I was already doing that either speed my work or make better results.  Win Win!
3.  While there are a few small glitches, the thing is STABLE enough to be worthy of release.  Not only that, but if one kills it or even crashes the system the auto-save recovery feature really works.  Win Win Win!
While at first there don't seem to be as many big gee whiz features as in some past releases, this version impresses me in that it's adding more value to what I use Photoshop for than any prior version I can recall in a long time (save for maybe Photoshop CS, which added 16 bit layering capability).  And it's still compatible enough that I can jump right in and USE it without disruption.
And I find the new darker theme easier to read and more accurate cursors a little more pleasant to use.  All in all, this version seems more tidy and professional.
All I can say, and not loudly enough, is:
Well done, Adobe!

  • How to open CR2 from XSi with CS2?

I want to know if I would be able to open up RAW files from my Canon Rebel XSi with CS2.
First couldnt even preview the raw images on my computer so I downloaded a codec from Canon and now it shows the preview icons as the pics itself. Then I search and realized I would need ACR in my photoshop. Which apparently I already had. I downloaded 3.7 which is the version for CS2 and replaced it in the file folder it specified. I tried the DNG converter 4.1 at first. Now, this one let me select a folder to convert files from(my sd card in my computer) and it showed all the available files in the folder but when I went to convert them it wouldnt convert any of the files. Then I searched around some more. Downloaded the latest version of DNG and installed it. I tried setting the compatibility for my version. When I select a folder in this version of DNG it shows no available files to convert in my folder.
I just shot my pictures in RAW + jpg(yes the file sizes are quite different, i read a thread talking about corrupt files, so idk) this morning. I dont usually deal in RAW but I had been wanting to try it out for a while now. What I am trying to do is take a picture of a painting I did in a quality(would need to color correct) good enough to print. I figured a RAW image would work best for this.
Is there any way I could get this whole RAW image thing to work in CS2? I use windows vista home edition 64 bit, if that matters at all, which I dont think it should.

    It's important to note:
The Select Source Folder dialog is for selecting a FOLDER, so you should not expect to see any FILEs in it.  Nobody does.  The DNG Converter works on folders.
This is just the way the DNG Converter works.  Once you've selected the folder, just press the [Convert] button and you'll find it does the job.

Actually, it isn't quite that simple.  On a Windows computer, at least all of the ones I have worked on, the DNG converter will actually see and list the files within the folder.

  • Re-installed CS6.  Any reason why it is freezing? + my Elements 7 not working right?

    Hi everyone,
I'm back again.  I had previous thread where I asked for information on what to do about Deactivating/Reinstalling CS6.  I Deactivated the program before removing it from my laptop, as I promised.  http://forums.adobe.com/message/5293794#5293794
I had to send my laptop back to HP for repair.  They replaced my Optical Drive and did a complete System Reinstall.  I got my laptop back this past Monday, May 13.  I reinstalled most of my programs and some of my pictures folders.  I also reinstalled my Elements 7 and everything was working great.
    Problem A -
On Tuesday, I reinstalled CS6 and that's when my problems started.  CS6 took over all my PSE files, so I chose to "always open with PSE" option.  Now all I have, instead of a nice, blue PSE icon I have a white paper with a smaller PSE icon in the center.
Here's a SNIP of what they look like:
Also, some of my fonts seem to have disappeared - now when I open a PSE file I get a msg that the font is missing and that I need to choose another font (something like that, I forgot to write it down)
    Problem B -
Today I was trying to open some Vector files and I couldn't find the option to make them into PNG files.   And, the Editor froze up twice! and twice I had to force-quit my computer.
    Questions
1 - Why are my PSE icons showing up like a "page" as shown above?
2 - Is there a way to get my regular icon back?
3 - Where did my Fonts go and how can I get them back?
4 - Why can't I save my images as PNG?
    5 - Why is CS6 freezing up?
Could you please help me find the aswers? I'm getting more and more frustrated by the minute.
    Thanks so much.
    Regards,

Sorry, somehow I missed your prior response.
The problem quite likely is a display driver issue.
Lacking the ability to download and install an updated display driver, try going into your Photoshop Performance prefrerence dialog, then pressing the [Advanced Settings] button and changing the Drawing Mode to Basic (if it isn't already).  Then OK out and close Photoshop, then restart it to test.
Failing that, try unchecking the box that says "Use Graphics Processor", and again close Photoshop and restart to test.

Hi Noel, that's ok, no problem, we sometimes get busy with stuff.
I just added a reply to Bill Hunt where I show that HP installed a newer version of the Display Driver from Intel.
So, I took the liberty of going back to PS and copying the System Info here for you.  Would you mind checking it?  see if the new Driver shows up correctly? (There's so much stuff in there I wasn't sure where to look)

  • Photoshop CS5 Flickers Under Windows 8 64

I just upgraded my Win7 64 desktop to Win8 pro 64, and now photoshop cs5 is behaving very strangely. Any mouse click operation causes the entire working window to flicker, and the background to cycle between the normal pale gray background, a window full of transparent pixel rectangles, and solid black. Although functionality is not impaired (i.e., whatever one clicked with the mouse), as you might imagine it's very distracting .
There doesn't appear to be any update from Adobe available within the help menu, so I think I'm up to date on the software.
Has anyone else run into this? Is there a fix? Is this a known incompatibility between CS5 and Win8 64? I spent hours searching online before I did the Win8 upgrade looking for compatibility information on photoshop cs5 (and the rest of the cs5 master suite) but found very little information.

Out of curiosity, what compelled you to buy Windows 8?
It is not a Windows 8 discussion, but since you asked -- I bought an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $39.99 during Microsoft's promotional period. I think it was quite a compelling reason to buy a pro version of the latest OS for that price. Like it or not, Windows 7 is now 3 years old. But, hey, there're still people running XP
Also someone asked about reasons for upgrading to Windows 8. Here's mine:
    1. Built-in anti-virus, improved firewall and overall security features on the kernel level. Stuff like, improved Windows drivers security, boot loader, etc.
    2. Improved performance -- anything from less number of running system services to a better RAM utilization. I can attest to that. Same stuff runs faster. Also much faster boot time as well as entering and leaving sleep modes.
    3. Improved Solid State Drive support "out-of-the-box". No additional set-up needed.
    4. Much improved Windows Explorer. (One of the compelling reasons for me.) They returned its toolbar that was taken out in Vista and made it optional. Also made it look more like Office ribbon, which everyone is familiar with by now.
    5. Much improved Task Manager. It adds a ton of useful features for a more geeky kind.
    6. Less intrusive Windows updates. No more annoying popups telling you to reboot. You get a message on the lock screen and everything is installed during a reboot.
    7. Much improved ways to create and do system recovery.
    8. Other small tools and utilities that are very useful and are now in one place. Stuff like creation of backups and restore discs, etc.
I won't go any more into it because it is not a Windows 8 discussion. The bottom line is that all of my apps that used to work in Windows 7 seem to work just fine in Windows 8... except the Adobe CS 5 products. So you do the math... I understand that It's always easy to blame the OS maker or a driver maker. Although I do agree with you on one thing -- it is probably wise to wait until a Service Pack comes out. And it is not just because Microsoft would fix its bugs, it's mostly because all of the OEMs and software vendors will catch up to the new technologies.

  • Error Message - Couldn't complete your request because there is not enough memory

I'm using Adobe CS5 Extended on a PC running under Windows Vista Home Premium with 4GB RAM.  When I complete editing a RAW file in ACR and choose to Open Image into Photoshop, I often receive an error message "Could not complete your request because there is not enough memory (RAM)".  However, Task Manager shows that about 2.5 GB of RAM is in use, the rest is free.  Any ideas?

First, an apology - to John as his original post appears to have got somewhat hijacked.
    Noel Carboni wrote:
Did you even TRY the advice given?  You have to make the change in the Preferences - Performance panel, then close and restart Photoshop to test it.
YES I did actually - made absolutely no difference whatsoever.
    Noel Carboni wrote:
You ARE aware you're talking to just other users here, right?  We're just regular folks who have LONG SINCE figured out that we need bigger machines to work on large Photoshop images.
I don't actually class 22MB as a large Photoshop image - you might, I don't.  If it had multiple layers, or I was doing massive amounts of processing, fair enough, but just opening the file from ACR?
As for upgrading the machine to open the files, this is Adobe's official requirement for CS5.1:
    Windows®
    2GHz or faster processor*
    Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3, Windows® Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 2, Windows® Vista® 64-bit or Windows® 7
1GB of RAM or more recommended
1GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (Photoshop CS5.1 cannot be installed on flash-based storage devices.)
1,024x768 display (1,280x800 recommended) with qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL® graphics card, 16-bit color and 256MB VRAM
The machine way excedes the requirements, so, I stand by what I said before.
Thanks for your help though, much appreciated.

  • How To Install OS on Raid0?

My system is a bit over two years old now, and has served me well in that time thanks to a lot of advice from this forum.  It's weak link is a Toshiba SSD used for the boot drive, that is not even as fast as a decent HDD.  Yesterday I suffered a serious system crash, and while I did eventually get it to boot, it is sick and I have decided to reinstall Windows. So I shall take this opportunity to do something about the boot drive.
    The system is currently
    3930k
    X79 UD5
    32Gb RAM
    GTX570
    Toshiba SSD for boot drive
    2 x 1Tb Velociraptor in raid0 for project drive [Note 1]
    2 x 1Tb WD Black in raid0 fo data
various other internal and USB3 externals for other data and back up.
    CM Storm Trooper tower
    Windows 7 Pro
I have ordered a pair of Samsung 840 EVO MZ-7TE250BW 250Gb SSD drives that I intend to use in a raid0 for the boot drive, but I am nervous about the sequence of setting these drives up as the C: drive.
My intention is to disconnect everything, All daya has be copied off the two existing raid0 arrays and everything was backed up via Shadow protect.
I am using the Intel RSTE_allOS_3.0.0.3020_PV driver for the raid.
    So my questions are:
    Is there a later driver?
At what stage will I be able (or need) to install that driver?
Am I doing the right thing by starting with just the C: drive connected while installing the OS, or should I have the other two raid0 arrays connected?  (I am not even certain I will able to support three different raid0 directly to the mainboard.)
[Note 1]  Windows doesn't see this drive since the crash, but I did get it viewable temporarily by reinstalling the Intel driver.  Windows could there was data on the drive, but could not access it.  The drive was no longer viewable on subsequent boots.
    Thanks for reading.

Thanks Bill.  We see so many systems with a raid0 boot drive nowadays, I didn't even consider it to be an issue.  Noel Carboni on the Photoshop forum is proud of his multi drive SSD raid0 that he uses for _everything_, although Noel is only a Photoshop guy, and software engineer.  I also have an MSI laptop that came as standard with two SSDs in a raid0 for the boot drive (MSI GT70).
Regards recovery tools, I have Shadow Protect, but have not used its boot drive image feature up to now.  I don't know if that would cover me for a lost boot drive?
BTW  I have worked out how and when to install the drivers.  I am also committed to the two drives now, so just have to decide how to use them.

  • After Effects crashing on startup: "crashed previously attempting to initialize OpenGL."

I've just installed After Effects CS6 from the cloud. I run Photoshop, & Illustrator CS5.5 with no problems.
Here are the full errors it gives me on startup. I have never been able to successfully get After Effects to load.
"After Effects error: After Effects crashed previously attempting to initialize OpenGL. Consult the manufacturer of your graphics card for a compatiable OpenGL driver."
"After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <6632> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 1"
I have an ATI Radeon 7850 card. Tried uninstalling the drivers completely and re-installing latest Catalyst drivers. Then tried uninstalling completely again and installing the beta 13.3 drivers. Still same crash error.

Also, Noel Carboni over at the PS forum might have to say a word or two on the drivers... He recommends to not use 13.3 at all and his list of "safe" versions only includes 12.8... You also have an awful lot of CoDecs in your list, so you might consider uninstalling some of them/ the apps that introduced them. This may also help....

  • Focus Stacking in CC 2014 No Longer Works (Rant)

I just spent HOURS on 2 different computers trying to do Focus Stacking for 2 jobs I'm working on which I couldn't get to work. I just used it a couple of weeks ago without a problem. (And yes I do use the correct procedure :Files>Scripts>Load Files Into Stacks>Attempt to Auto Align>Select All Layers(in Layers Panel)>Edit>Auto Blend Layers>Stack Images) Of course I thought it was something I was doing wrong, so I spent all this time trying to troubleshoot on my end. Finally I tried the Help Chat and spent another bunch of time reproducing the problem and making screen captures to show the CSR only to find out that it is a known issue at Adobe and it might be fixed in the next update. BTW, it was very obvious that the CSR was helping a list of customers at one time since it took so long in between responses. How aggravating.
Here's the rant I left on one of their questionnaires:
So you ask "How can we improve the Creative Cloud?" My answer is,  INFORM YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS WHEN THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH YOUR PRODUCT SO THEY DON'T WASTE THEIR TIME TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEIR SYSTEM. JUST LIKE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, WITH THE ISSUE OF HAVING TO CONSTANTLY SIGN IN WHENEVER YOU LAUNCH ANY OF THE CREATIVE CLOUD APPS.
Is it really so difficult to do this now that we are joined at the hip with this monthly fee Creative Cloud? I'm sure that you'll let us know immediately if we don't make our monthly payment right?

Alerting customers to known issues like this is a reasonable request. Especially with a major functionality breakdown like this. It's a different matter with esoteric issues affecting only a few users.
I'm sure that's a particularly troublesome distinction for Adobe in this particular case, for precisely the reason you mentioned.  Though it's a basic failure, I'd wager only a small minority of people use the various image combination features that rely on the functionality that's broken.
As a career software engineer / architect / manager who worked a long time in the corporate world myself, I've faced situations where a release was imminent yet some piece of functionality was found to be broken.  There comes a judgment process to determine whether a majority of folks will get value from the new version while a minority might find it problematic.  The two things I came away with from all that experience were:
Document everything.  Let the customers know.  They need to be informed to make good decisions themselves, and it really helps no one to try to keep things secret.  No one's perfect, and surprisingly, customers are willing to be quite understanding IF you keep them in the loop.  It's not even a bad idea to publish the entire bug list.
I decided that once I were to run my own business (which I do now) I would fix all known problems before release.  If that means a delay, so be it.  That's been especially effective for a number of reasons...  I don't get many problem reports (so I can move forward with new work), I don't have a shaky platform (so I can move forward with new work), etc.  Since I set the release schedule and since my development team is small I can pull it off.
I mention the latter note because now, with Adobe's new cloud delivery processes, shouldn't the pressure to release on a particular date have been reduced?
Is there still a "release date is king, and all else a distant second priority" philosophy at Adobe?  Of course a corporation should always challenge itself to get things done, but why did 15.1 (excuse me, 2014.1) have to be released right when it did rather than wait a few more weeks and fix at least the newly found problems?
I honestly thought the Creative Cloud shift would help fix the shortcoming at Adobe where they release what's on hand no matter whether it all works.
To Adobe's credit, the Creative Cloud application now does allow you to roll back to a working version if the newest one broke something you rely upon.  That's new, and I think an under-documented and under-appreciated feature.

Noel, I couldn't agree more with your comments.  I'm mad not because there is a problem but the lengths one needs to go to find out about it once you discover that something isn't working in the release the way one expected it to.  A "bug" sticky for each release at the top of a forum such as this is would BE A GOOD WAY OF HELPING USERS, a basic business ethic that Adobe seems to have forgotten about, the customer IS KING.  I'd agree that the CC was expected by users to sort out the problems of release timings but to their credit if you didn't see a release for 6 months due to increasing software bugs you might question the need to have a CC in the first place versus the old way of releasing updates.  Is this essentially a problem of software becoming tooo complex with fixes in one are just creating problems somewhere else? - I'm not a software engineer just a knowledgeable user.  If I was paying $50 a month for using a couple of CC programmes with disparate uses then I would be seriously thinking why but that question comes at the end of the year for me.
I would also agree that the rollback feature is very useful...
    -Tim.

  • CC Performace Problems

I experience in photoshop, illustrator and after effects a similar performance problems.  The same file on the same PC work smoothly in CS5 and in CC the system gets slow and the software sometimes crashes.  Adobe bridhe CC does not work ... only my old Bridge CS5.
Noel Carboni from the forum answered in the forum... but I did not find a ways to answer back... Is the text below the "Photoshop CC's Help - System Info" Noel Carboni asked for?

  • Camera Raw Photo Processing Challenge

No pressure, just a bit of fun here.  In a recent thread I posted a raw file to illustrate a sky color issue, and several people showed an interest in processing it into an image using techniques they often use.
Let's do it again, with a better image this time.
Imagine you've been contracted to do a shoot of a Dark Charcoal Mustang GT for a brochure.  You drive the car to a scenic spot on a pretty day, take some photos, and now you're back at your computer with the raw files.  Your goal is to produce the following:
A 2400 x 1600 pixel sRGB image that makes the car look great.
The image might have elements you want to remove, colors you want to improve, shapes you want to distort...  Do anything you want to try to make the car appealing - mild to wild!
I've posted a Canon EOS-40D raw file here:
    http://Noel.ProDigitalSoftware.com/ForumPosts/IMG_1728.zip
Open this image using Camera Raw, tweak it as you see fit, and post the 2400 x 1600 pixel result in this thread.
    Have fun!
    -Noel
P.S., here's my result.  You might want to wait until you finish until you look at my interpretation.  Or look at it now and one-up me!  All in fun!

    Noel Carboni wrote:
Rob Cole:  Also nice work!  You also chose a bit warmer color balance than I did, though not quite as warm as Yammer's.  However, in your case the sky and clouds seem to have less depth than I would like (e.g., the subject of my other thread on sky colors being a bit washed out).  And, like Yammer's, the tone curve in the darker parts almost hides all the tire detail, though as I mentioned above maybe this is actually a plus.  You did also bring out the depth of the reflections in the surface of the car nicely.  Looks like you distorted the image as I did to both level things a little and offset some of the perspective distortion.  P.S., I didn't figure out which buttons to press on your site to download the full resolution image.  But I was able to get it full screen, which was enough to judge quality.
I note that neither of you chose to use Content Aware Fill to get rid of the poles in the image.
I don't mind "criticism", as long as I *think* we're looking at the same thing - the business of color management really grinds me though - lots of people think they understand what's supposed to happen, but that's not whats happening but they don't know it, and they think others are messed up or wrong, and maybe they are, but nobody really knows... - been there too many times.
    My take on your take:
    - I agree the sky needed more work, but also: the overexposure/clipping made it difficult to bring out cloud detail without it looking artificial (next time drop exposure by 1/3 or so when shooting).
    - I like the pinch of warmth in the background (most of the clouds, and foliage), but not in the car nor the road .
    - tire detail: agree again - I enhanced it a smidge in the next version (see link below).
    - I applied default distortion correction (via profile-base lens corrections), but no perspsective adjustment - mostly just rotated it (counter-clockwise).- I'm waiting for Lr4 to remove telephone poles;-}
    Note: The next version:
(additional enhancements done entirely in NX2)

  • Photoshop CS5 Screen Resolution

    <START OF RANT>
Having recently decided to upgrade all my design software, I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I was (and still am) to find that after spending £231.12 GBP on buying Photoshop CS5 (upgrade from CS2) I'm unable to "Save As" and access some other features on my Acer Ferrari One due to the minimum screen resolution requirement. And before you start preaching that I should have checked, blah, blah, blah, and that it's my own fault then I only have 2 words for you: F*** O**!!! Why am I reacting like this? Simples, both Photoshop CS2 and Dreamweaver CS5 (for a mere £219.95 GBP) work fine on the very same netbook without any problems!!!
Having spent hours upon hours browsing the tinternet (a.k.a. world wide web) and finding countless of people in the same boat as me making futile attempts to get Photoshop CS5 to work on a smaller screen resolution (the most common being 1024x600), it seems that short of changing the screen it will not work properly.
Allow me therefore to put the following questions to the developers/coders of Photoshop CS5:
    1. Why do Photoshop CS2 and Dreamweaver CS5 work on the same netbook without fail yet Photoshop CS5 won't (unable to "Save As", can't see full screen of the "Save for Web" screen, etc.)?! WHY??? And please don't start with the lame excuse that they are different programs for different purposes because at the end of the day it's the same company. You don't buy a Mercedes C-Class and a Mercedes S-Class to find that the steering works on 1 but not the other, do you?!
    2. Are your heads so far up your place where the sun don't shine that you have forgotten about the fact that people FIRST pick a PC/Mac/Laptop/Notebook/Netbook and ONLY THEN PICK SOFTWARE?
    3. Do you want people to keep buying your software?
If the answer to question 3 (above) is YES, then PULL YOUR FINGERS OUT, get your act together and do something about these issues, pronto. Else, rest assured you will lose custom to the competition (e.g Corel) - even loyalists like myself (who started & stuck with Photoshop since 1997 - that's 14 YEARS OF LOYALTY should one be incapable of doing the math). In this day & age any company would be wise not to make mistakes which could cost it market share - Adobe is making that mistake with Photoshop right now!!!
    </END OF RANT!!!>

    <Start of Reply>
Why are trying to get Photoshop work on a display that is smaller then the programs was designed for. Adobe publishes screen requirements.  Next you'll want it to run on a iPod Nano so you can have it on hand all the time.
<Just keep on RANTING if it make you feel GOOD>
CS2 Works the Problem is all YOU
So same to you and you foul mouth.
Why blame Adobe Why not your net book maker fot not allowing you to set a resolution more then the display has. I have worked on machines the could the just scroll the display over the larger image that way you can see the whole image.  CS5 would work on a machine like that. Of course I want it always at hand!!! Do you even live in this world?! Have you noticed for example that phones have better cameras than the best camera available en masse 5 years ago let alone longer e.g. 10 years ago? Note how small it is!!!
Of course I want to edit my pictures using the program of my choice and 14 years ago I did make that choice choosing PS, hence the decision to purchase the Acer Ferrari One - CS2 works like a charm.
As to the point that I'm problematic, please read my post carefully before making statements that make you come across as foolish.
    Hobotor wrote:
    1. Serious ps users make sure their hardware meets their program's system requirements.
    2. If you decide to buy you bigger Mercedes and it won't fit into your garage anymore, I'd say that's your own fault.
    3. ALL software evolves, if you insist on using your old hardware, stick with the programs that were built to run on your old gear.
    1. OLD Hardware?! Please do your homework before replying. The Acer Ferrari One was released beginning of last year and is a top of the range netbook - more powerful than any netbook out there and any laptop that is over 2 years old. FACT! Even some of the new laptops benchmarked could not out-do this little beast. FACT!
    2. Unless one is buying a Mercedes Van or Truck it will fit in the garage (even the ML320 fits) - CS2 fits and so do other Adobe CS3 & CS4 products. So why not the PS CS5 - its no a Van or Truck. In fact it's more comparable to an S-Class.
    3. Hardware also evolves - it's getting smaller and more powerful. I could run PS on the water-cooled, Phenom X4 & NVidia GeForce 9800 GX2 powered stationary PC connected to a 32" LCD by HDMI, running Linux Mint 10 x64/Windows 7 x64 (dual boot) with MacOS X running virtually by use of VMWare on both. Instead I choose to be mobile editing my pics as soon as I have taken them (patience is not always a virtue)! As humans we also need to evolve and judging by most of the replies so far it's not looking good for human evolution (albeit some replies do make valid & intelligent arguments and are as such well received).

I think he means to insult Adobe, and not we fellow users.
It would of course be better to maintain decorum, though, even while ranting.  But does a rant really demand a sharp response?  Rise above it and just don't say anything if you really have nothing to add.
To Julian:  You should return the software for a refund ASAP before you're stuck with it for good.
    -Noel
You are right: I do mean to offend Adobe and hope they are offended!!! However, do accept my apologies for losing composure (and my manners along with it). Unfortunately, in this day and age it seems to be the only way to reach the audience of those who can assist with problem resolution of this kind. That is of course unless the very same decide to provide the PS CS5 source code which would enable me to address the issue at hand without the need to contact Adobe or rant.
    Marian Driscoll wrote:
Not speaking for Adobe, I would expect that they want intelligent people to keep buying their software. They also make Photoshop Elements for someone like you. Photoshop is a professional image editing application used by professionals. Professionals do not pick up a cheap low-power netbook to do their image editing. Casting the concept of 'professional' aside, Adobe expects buyers to be literate to notice the system requirements prior to paying large sums.
If all that you are doing is web design, you should be using GIMP, which is free, requires much less resources, and is better suited for preparing web images (PNG8 with alpha anyone?).
    RE: rants... GIGO
In fact, it would be better for you not to speak at all considering your assumptious and pompous nature. Adobe will pay attention to this post as long as it attracts traffic (you can find a simple explanation of the term 'traffic' in this context using this link). As to your ideology of the professional image editor, it is of little interest here and beside the point. Thus, please refrain from participating any further in this discussion while not in a capacity to speak on behalf of Adobe or offer anything other than remarkable insights into what one should or should not use for image editing.
If I have not replied to anyone, please accept my apologies - I will find the time to do so another day but I wouldn't want miss Love Never Dies at the Adelphi now would I.
    Good night and good luck

  • Sign in Required CS6 Adobe Photoshop

This has been installed and working since just after CS6 released, now Photoshop won't launch it gives me this "sign in required" screen
the only change to my OSX 10.7.5 system is I ran the recent Adobe updates
i bought CS6 directly from Adobe... i guess i could just click on some suspect mystery SignIn screen... strange

Hi Noel, I guess I have read - and written some of it! Read my last 2 posts to the effect that
1- the foolish notice started popping up WITHOUT the 13.02, 13.03 updates!!
    So,
2- I thought it no longer made any difference and perhaps might solve the vexing HDR merge problem I am having if I updated anyway, seeing's how adobe was going to pop up the #$% thing no matter what I did.
I have done so many reinstalls for this and that problem It is amazing my CD is not worn out. I do not mean to sound so dramatic but- after over 10 (since version 5 or 6) years using this app I have had no where near as much trouble as I am having since they introduced CS6 and the cloud.  I am keeping my updates and will reneter my serial # over and over and agree to let them look over my shoulder and if they still have not figured it out by the time 30 days are up how to recognize a full license holder from a trial version holder and they still think I have a trial I will deal with whatever nonsence they, then, think they need to add to the list. Pissed off I am. And, now, well vented of speen. aloha, U
    Noel Carboni wrote:
I guess you haven't been reading all the threads on the problem very carefully...  It's a problem with all the newest updates.  Adobe has acknowledged it and will work on it as soon as they get back from their holiday time off.
    No workarounds have been found.
There's nothing you can do about it save for uninstalling everything then installing only the 13.0.1 update, avoiding all higher updates.
Other than the uninstall/reinstall choice, you could just leave Photoshop running as much as you can and ignore the dialog as best you can for now.
Maybe Adobe will release another update in early 2013, though I sincerely hope they take whatever time is necessary to get it right this time.

Noel, I think the comment referred to my criticism of Chris ‘YE HAH! Orwig’, but surely the presentation is a highly important element of video tutorials, just as it is with Photoshop books — that’s why Scott Kelby is so successful.  His books make you smile or laugh out loud on every page, which means you keep on reading and learning. Scott is also a master of bringing together tips and ideas from his ‘Team’ and making them into a highly polished presentation.  Chris Orwig, on the other hand, is the presentation equivalent of fingernails scraped on a blackboard.
I’ve written to Lynda.com with my concerns regarding the extreme overuse of phrases like “I’m gonna go right ahead” in general, and Chris Orwig specifically.  I have also emailed people like Nigel French (Design and Type titles using Photoshop) and Chad Perkins (Premiere Pro) thanking them for their obvious enthusiasm and the quality of their Lynda.com titles.  I got nice replies from both of them, but nothing from Lynda.com.
You might argue that CO is also enthusiastic about Photoshop, but while his mouth speaks the words, his eyes don’t back them up. Compare Chris Orwig to Deke McCelland, and the wonderful Russell Brown.  The latter two are so genuine, and Russell delightfully eccentric. And both DM and RB are light years ahead of CO regards their knowledge of Photoshop.
Of course it is far from easy to present video tutorials, as Doug says above.  I can still remember being forced in front of the camera while doing media studies (almost 40 years ago) and how dry my mouth became while I tripped over my every word while speaking gibberish.  I am currently filming for a promo for an April 2014 event, that has to be shown this time next year, and I absolutely know I shall be bring in talent for the VO.
