Noise canceling for listening to music

Hi there,
is there any way to use the noise canceling system in the Z30 for listening to music? It is unusually for me that you can connect headphones in two different ways. The headset delivered with the phone does not mute the speakers of the phone when connected. Normal headphones does. Is there a similar possibility to connect earphones with micophones for noise cancelling like seen on the Sony Z2? What can I do? Thanks in advance.

Noise cancelling has to be done with the earphone or headset itself. The noise cancellation is very phase critical. The receiver (michrophone) that picks up the background noise must be located very close to where the sound is outputting to the speaker device.
Noise is cancelled by using very precise audio amplification of the ambient sounds or noise, and applying the noise in exact opposte phase and level to the noise that is in the background along with the sound.
You need a headset with the noise cancelling option, and this should work for you. The good ones are fairly expensive. They don't work 100%, but usually this feature is better than not having it at all.

  • Can someone recommend me a good creative sound card for listening to music

    Hi all,
I am thinking to buy a Creative sound card for my new PC.
I have browsed the Creative web site but found out that there are just too many options for me to choose from, like X-FI, e-MuRecon3D Fatal1ty Champion, Recon3D PCIe, E-MU 1212M PCIe.
I have no idea which one is the best for me since I like listening to music.
    Please give me some advice.
    Thanks
    Kitty.

It's ultimately going to depend on how particular you are, and what output you're going to be using.
Arguably the X-Fi Titanium HD will give the clearest output of the whole lot. A measurable 122dB SNR means you'll basically have to turn it up to the threshold of pain before you'll hear any noise produced by the card itself. That doesn't mean there won't be any noise at all in the output - just that the card realistically won't add any that didn't already exist in the source material. Further to this, when run in Entertainment mode you'll also have access to the THX enhancements over the standard Creative ones, which I personally find to be substantially better in actual listening. The EMI shield and changeable op-amps are just gravy.
Of course, there's always fine print. The 122dB SNR only applies to the front outputs, for example. That's not to say the rest aren't very good - they're rated at between 115dB and 118dB - just that they aren't as good. Odds are you won't really care but its still worth mentioning. The other major limitation (in my opinion) is the absence of a good headphone pre-amplifier, but that may or may not be a non-issue depending on whether you use headphones or already have an external one (or, like me, you feel inclined to make your own to solve that limitation).
The other good option would be the Recon3D. I wouldn't bother going with any of the upper market ones for music (or for any reason, for that matter) unless the front drive bay or directional microphone are of any particular importance to you (NB I bought the Fatal1ty Champion edition - still not entirely sure why). An argument could be made for the EMI shield, but with so few components on the board it probably isn't stopping a whole heap of noise anyway over the miniature "shield" on the SPU itself. When compared in raw specs to the Titanium HD, at a glance it would appear to be vastly inferior - 102dB SNR ratio (albeit constant across all outputs) is quite a bit lower, after all.
However, it's important to keep in mind exactly what that means. 102dB SNR still means you'll have to turn the volume up quite a bit to get any extra noise added to your output. You're talking around the volume of a power saw at a little over 3 feet, so realistically it's quite loud - and it's over the level which is generally considered to cause hearing loss with sustained exposure (95dB). You also have to remember that this doesn't apply to the S/PDIF outputs (nor does the HD's 122dB) since they're entirely at the mercy of whatever decoder you're using, so if you're using that output than the extra expense of the HD is pretty much entirely wasted. And, as a major plus, all Recon3D cards have what seems to be a pretty decent headphone pre-amp, which makes a very appreciable difference in listening, as well as supporting the various THX enhancements.
    The short version:
    - If you're listening mostly via stereo analogue speakers, get the Titanium HD.
    - If you're listening mostly via headphones, get the Recon3D (I personally think the pre-amp is better than the higher SNR).
    - If you're listening mostly via S/PDIF to an external amp, it doesn't matter (but get the Recon3D because it's cheaper).

  • Trying to turn on the noise canceling for iphone 5c

I am having trouble with my hand free system in my CRV and I was told there is a noise canceling selection in the settings but I am not seeing it. I need to turn this feature on so I can reduce the magnified noise coming through my hands free system. I have an iphone 5c

I'm having a problem with echoing, and see where people suggest turning off Noise Cancellation, but that option does not appear in my Settings menu.  I go to Settings>General>Accessibility> but there is no Phone Noise Cancellation.
Where is it?  Why is it not in my menu?
    iphone 5c, ios 8.a.2 (12B440)
Will turning this off stop the echoing I hear of myself when I am talking on a call?

  • When your in Nike plus for listening to music whuffle music can you shuffle a particular playlist or does it shuffle your entire music collection on your iPod? Williams

When in Nike plus mode to work out and listen to musi,  can you shuffle a particular playlist or does it shuffle your entire music collection on your iPod? All my other iPods do this and don't want to buy a new one if the 7th generation does the same?

To be more specific - create a playlist that has only your Christmas music on it, then create a Smart playlist that has everything you want from your playlist plus one more rule, where the playist is not your Christmas playlist. Play randomly from your new smart playlist and you will be good to go.
I have a playlist with some Christian music that I don't want to have on my normal playlist - at first, I tried to have two playlists (one with the Christian stuff and one with everything else), but this ended up being easier.

  • Bluetooth headphones for listening to music

do these exist? i recall reading somewhere that music couldnt be done over bluetooth...i'm hoping that changed. i just hate working out and the wire getting in my way...IT DRIVES ME NUTZ! sorry. if this does exist, are there any that hook on the ear? the current ones seem to always fall out on me...i have issues.
    i have an original iPhone.

The iPhone itself supports only headset and handsfree BT profiles - meaning voice calls only, not the A2DP protocol required for streaming music.
However, there are 'dongles' that plug into the dock connector port and transmit music over Bluetooth.
Here's ONE EXAMPLE, and here's ANOTHER EXAMPLE.

  • I had my ipod stolen:(  I am considering getting IPAD 2  , can I attach the IPAD to the external speakers $$ for listening to music?

I had my IPOD stolen   I am considering IPAD 2, am I able to use the "dock"  external speakers $$ with it???

We'd need to know specifically what "dock speakers" you have before anyone could offer information or opinions. I'd suggest just contacting the maker of those dock speakers and asking them. They'll be in the best position to say whether or not their product is compatible with the iPad 2.
    Regards.

  • Headset for Phone Conversations/Listening to music

I recently ordered the Fatal1ty head set from Amazon. The sound has been good, though less rich than I might have expected (I assume this is because of the focus on gaming sound over music sound).
I cannot get the mic to work at all. I've turned it on (on the cable), and I've triple checked how I've plugged into my mac (imac). It has two 1/8in male inputs, one for mic and one for headphones. The headphones work well but the mic is not picking up at all.
    1. Do I have to install software for this to work? Firmware?
    2. Will this work on a mac?
    3. How can I trouble shoot the mic?
Is there a headset that I should be looking at to replace this one?
I need noise canceling for both mic and ear since I work in a noisy office.
I'd like something that can be used for music listening as well.
    Matthew

Fatal1ty seem can work on a mac.

  • Bus noise on X-fi Extreme music for SCSI user....any solutions yet?

    Hi there!
Some time ago i bought my X-fi extreme music card...and i have not been
able to use it properly yet !!!
My problem is: - I use a adaptec 2960N scsi controller in my system, wich i have all
my dri'ves and HD connected to. It use one PCI slot (slot ).
When i play any sound/music with the X-fi card and there is
"additional bus activity" (normally from HD) then the sound "scratch".
Done so far: (with no result)
    - Change the card's PCI slot
    - Update the latest creative driver
    - Update the mainboard bios
    - Change the ASPI settings
    - Increase the X-fi latency for the PCI card
    - Made sure the X-fi dont share IRQ with any other card
    - Tested the X-fi card in another computer...and there it works BRILLIANTLY
    (nforce 3..no scsi just ide)
System info: Epox Ep -9PDA+ Ultra Nforce 4
AMD X2 dual core 4400+ CPU
    024 MB A-data DDR 500 RAM
Maxtor Atlas V Ultra60 SCSI HD
    Geforce 7800 GTX
I've read that there are other SCSI users who expirence the same problem
as me on several net forums.
I've also asked Adaptec who have made my controller for a "driver" update,
but they say that the problem is the sound card so its therefore up to
    creative to solve it.
I talked with a Creative representati've in Denmark who promised to forward
my problem, but nothing has happened yet?
Hope someone can solve this little "bugger",
    Best wishes

    Hello
I have a Adaptec 39320A-R SCSI Controller with some SCSI dri'ves.
I had ZERO problems with my previous AUDIGY 2 ZS. No noises or cracks or popping , at no time.
Now i have the crackles and pops / noises , when i listen to music and there is some harddri've activity.
I just can avoid it, by switching to audio creation mode, and enable "bit matched playback" in the options there, so it seems, it just is a "simple" software issue, that could be solved.
As soon as i switch to game mode or entertainment mode (regardless of all optimizations are turned on or off) , i get the annoying noises.
I hope there will be a good software update soon.

  • Ipad2: How to listen to Music in the background (Multi-Tasking)?

    Hi all,
Can someone please help me - I can't seem to keep my Music playing in the background on my ipad 2 when I then open Safari.
All Music automatically stops playing, it's like background Multi-tasking doesn't work for listening to music and using safari at the same time. Is this the same for everyone using iOS 5.0.1 on ipad2?
Any advice would help. This is driving me nuts!
    Thanks,
    Tanja

I can't offer much. I'm typing this in Safari on my iPad2 while listening to music from the Music app.
Try restarting or resetting your iPad as explained in iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting, http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
BTW, most Apple support documents lately give a "file not found when" using a link, but load correctly when  you reload the url.

  • Best noise-canceling microphone

I am looking for a good headset/microphone with noise canceling for use with my laptop and skype uses. I want to be able to record podcast on the move. By the way if and when iPods can record audio this would be hot so is there a adapter if I got a USB and want to go to 1/8 jack? Yeah yeah I want the world, but I need to start recording now and cannot wait until XtremeMac mic comes out. all I have now is a nano. I have looked at the Logitech Premium but is there something else?

Believe it or not, mics can push $5,000 (apiece!)!
the SM57 is a great all around mic (I have a half dozen, or so), but really capturing nuances comes at a cost and generally people look toward Condenser mics (like that Shure Beta 87 on that page (which sadly completely busts your budget all by itself B-(>
there are less expensive condensers, though, but you generally get what you pay for in mics.
as for the keyboard, i love my 49e ... going on 4 years now that I've had it, too, couldn't be more satisfied (and it was more expensive when I bought mine as well!)
    good luck!

  • Listening to music with Jawbone 2

Does anyone know if this is ever going to work? I've seen the posts to switch over to bluetooth from visual voicemail to get it to work but that hasn't solved it for me. I don't listen to my music a whole lot so it hasn't been a problem for me but I'm thinking of joining the gym so I want to be able to listen to books but not bring wired headset with me.

No one here knows if Apple plans on adding an AD2P bluetooth profile for listening to music with a bluetooth headset and if in the works, when.
You can use this link to provide Apple your feedback.

  • Noise cancelling, wired headphones for 6300

I listen to the radio a lot which does not work with Bluetooth headsets. Can someone recommend a set of wired noise canceling headphones for a 6300 - ideally with the "push to answer" feature?
    Thanks,

I know Amazon UK have good reviews but i just want some suggestions on what make or brand is good.
For all i know the features i like are foldable, active, over-ear headphones. not too big not too fat and not too fancy.

  • When I listen to music on Apple TV 2 my pictures from iPhoto come in, but always the same album (which I nevr asked for), always in random order and always in a different format. How can I control what is going on and choose the album myself.

When I listen to music on Apple TV 2 my pictures from iPhoto come in aafter about ten minutes, but always the same album (which I never asked for), always in random order and always in a different format. How can I choose a different album myself and control the order and format?

Thank you Winston for a helpful response and for reminding me of something which I found nearly a year ago and then lost (in my mind) because I did not use it. I am grateful for a correct answer but it still only achieves part of what I wanted.
I can now choose my photos, decide how long they stay on screen and choose one of a variety of presentations. Two things I still can't do.
One is to get it to play the photos in the chronological order in which I have carefully set them in an album; it still tends to be random and repetitive. The other is that I cannot get any of them them to saty on screen for more than about 20 seconds. I guess this is all due to the way Apple TV is constructed.
    But still thanks, nevertheless.

It doesn't matter what it is in your backup that's causing the problem because you can not selectively restore things from your backup. It's all or nothing.
