Noisy speakers

When I wake up my mac opening the clumshell, I hear a short scratchy noise from the speakers, as when you turn on an old radio.
I just can't believe it is normal...

it happens to my macbook too. I actually rang up apple support regards to the problem, they believe is the wireless signal affecting the speaker during the connection.
eg. sometimes when you use your cellphone in your car, your it might create some funny noise through the radio. i think it is similar to that...
thats no way to fix it and they said it is not a hardware fault.
btw i found maybe lower the speaker volume might help a little bit.

  • Onboard 5.1 sound noisy - K8T Neo FIS2R

    Hi guys, i'm new here.
Well, i got a K8T Neo FIS2R and the 5.1 sound is noisy. I've tried many different drivers, replaced my 5.1 speakers for new ones and it doesn't work properly at all. I've been using a  2.1 system and it works just fine. Has anyone seen this problem? any advice?
    Thanks in advance

LOL OK you can save us time by replying to that end the next time. Thanks.
I know it may seem trivial but I can't count how many times a suggestion was assumed to have been tried and it turned out to be the fix in the end. So if we seem grouchy about getting a reply remember that we aren't the only one's that waste time chasing stuff when no one let's us know what they have tested.
OK back to your problem. There are no magic buttons to push. If you have tried other speakers and drivers then it is likely something on the MB that is causing the problem. It could be a power line somewhere close to a chip or connection, it could be a bad ground. If you have a Sound card handy you could also check it to see if the problem goes away. Otherwise you may have to RMA it.

    thanks.!!!!

I just read a test about a MSI GX600, they says that it has about a 144 minutes autonomy, I don't think that the wifi module is using so much power so, you're probably right, there is a problem somewhere.
On my MSI GX 700, I have a greater autonomy on Vista than on XP, but if you just bought the computer, I suppose you use Vista.
Does you fan is working at maximum speed all the time or something like this ? (it's very noisy when it's at max speed)
You can check with Riva Turner and CPU-Z if the GPU and CPU are well clocked down when on internet or stuff like this (not in games).

  • External speakers buzz when charger is connected

My Cambridge Sound works speakers have a continual buzz, but only when my computer is plugged into its power source.
    Any solutions?

I have the same problem with speaker buzz in my mini. I changed from Cambridge Soundworks speakers to KRK Rokit 5, but the buzz persists. I took my mini to an Apple store, but was told there was no problem. I doubt that one could hear the buzz in the noisy store.

  • Extremely noisy output from Xmod wirel

Let me start by saying that I think the Xmod wireless is a great product. I have bought other products which claim to wirelessly transmit audio over short ranges, and all of them have a lot of interference. The Xmod wireless is not like that at all, the sound comes in crystal clear on the other end. I also love the fact that I can change tracks / volume etc using the remote on either the transmitter or receiver.
One thing that I like to do however is play my music in two locations at once, so if I move from one room to another the music keeps playing.
Currently, I have the transmitter hooked up to my computer via USB, and then I have the line out on the transmitter running to the line in on my computer. This allows me to listen to audio on on my computer speakers and also at the wireless receiver location.
The problem is that the line out from the Xmod wireless transmitter is extremely noisy, so if there's a quiet part on the song or in between songs, I hear tons of what'd I'd call electrical background noise.
I've tried eliminate things by plugging the line out of the transmitter directly into my speakers which did not help, I also tried skipping USB and plugging the transmitter into an electrical outlet and using the line out from my sound card, and that didn't help either.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to eliminate the background noise? If anyone else has the Xmod wireless, can they please tell me if this is a problem they also have? Curious if it may just be a problem with my specific unit.
The strange thing is that the wireless receiver does not suffer from this problem, only the line out from the Xmod wireless transmitter.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

    - Nope, I contacted support who could only provide me with canned emails about trying to unplug the unit and plug it back in or other tier type suggestions.
They finally authorized a replacement unit, but the replacement unit suffered from the same problem. I can only assume that the problem exists in all units.

  • Apogee One: Very Noisy

    Hello,
There is a large amount of static/hum/hiss that I have isolated to the Apogee One.  It is not in the signal path after the mixer, as I can plug instruments into the mixer and the problem is not present.  The culprit is either the audio cable from the Apogee One to the mixer, the Apogee One itself, the USB cable from the iMac to the Apogee One, or the iMac.  Here is a video so you can hear for yourself:
    http://s125.photobucket.com/albums/p77/pianoman1976/Me/?action=view&current=P100 0415.mp4
Is the Apogee One known to be noisy like this?
    Is the iMac the culprit?
I presume the first thing I should do is buy another audio cable and check it, yet this cable I'm using is new.
    Thank you.

Ok, I tried something different.  I read the manual for the ONE.  Under troubleshooting it says:
Symptom - When connecting speakers to ONE, there is hum and/or
    buzz at the output.
Solution - In most cases, a steady hum or buzz at the output is
caused by grounding issues between ONE and the connected
equipment. Because bus-powered USB interfaces are grounded
through the USB and audio connections, and not through a
3-prong grounded AC connection, the situation may arise where
the grounding configuration of the connected equipment must be
modified. This may be done by connecting a ground lift adaptor to
the equipment’s AC connector to disconnect (or “lift”) the AC ground
    prong.
Some experimmentation may be required to find the grounding
configuration that results in the lowest noise. It may be useful
to disconnect all equipment except ONE, the Mac and a pair of
headphones, and then connect additional equipment one piece at a
    time.
So it looks like the solution is buying a ground lift adapter.

  • I use Garageband 09 to record voice overs via podcasting, female narrator noisy, but keep getting an intermittent clicking sound. It's not the metronome. I have a good quality external USB mic plugged in. Any ideas?

I use GarageBand 09 to record voice overs via the Podcasting then Female Narrator Noisy utility. I have a good quality external mic plugged in. I keep getting an intermittent clicking sound on the audio track. It's not the metronome as that is turned off. I have to edit out the clicking after recording. I can see the spikes on the waveline. Any ideas how I can prevent this happening?

Hi again and thanks so much for replying.
The 'mic jack' on the old mic is both wide and large, measuring about an inch and a quarter from the base (where it comes out of the black encasing) to the edge of the tip (sort of cone shaped). As I can't plug this in directly to any port in the back of the Mac, I thought it might be possible to to buy some sort of adapter so that I could plug in the jack at one end, with a USB connector at the other end to go straight into the Mac. But I see from your comment that you are suggesting a smaller jack itself (i.e., large size jack to small size jack and then plug in to the small round port, instead of jack to USB port)?
At the Mac shop I bought a USB adapter to connect up a second monitor (screen). I've just dug out the package and it's called a mini display port to VGA adapter. But back to the mic issue, I don't want to use the old mic really, I'm just trying to eliminate whether or not my usual mic, or its USB cable, is at fault and causing the clicking.
I looked on Amazon for a suitable adapter but there was mention of these little gadgets having a sound card. As the Mac obviously has its own internal sound card, I couldn't see the point of another (exernal) one, unless it was actually required to convert the sound from input to output (playback) or something. One review said sound quality was lost but the person had a problem with his speakers, not a ticking sound while playing back recordings - which is obviously my problem.
I do have a headset that I used to use for Skype. It has a pink and a green jack. I could plug one into the "headphones symbol' port and try recording again with Garageband. At least the jack is the right size. Again, this is just for the purpose of eliminating whether my good mic on a stand with the anti-popping sheild is at fault.
While my Mac does have both inbuilt speakers (I don't need external ones) and an inbuilt microphone, the latter is not of a high enough quality for voice overs, hence buying an external mic etc. But whatever is causing the clicking or ticking is obviously affecting the quality of my recordings. As you can imagine, it is very time-consuming to edit out the ticking spikes and if the noise appears during speech, you can't edit it out at all.
Please keep the suggestions coming. I am determined to get to the bottom of this for my sake and everyone else who is suffering from the same problem!

  • My apple ipad 3 is giving noice from speakers while playing something

my ipad speaker,s are giving noisy sound like its speakers being burst inside..n it always give me a extra soung while playing music, even playing ringtone gives eruption sounds.though  my warranty still intact till june 2013.can anyone suggest me for this sort of problem, what should i do?

    Hey Scott,
I went to apple store today for the same problem, warranty expired, the guy from genius bar sounded more like a salesman. Without even checking my iPad told me it may need to be replaced (same Generation) and that would be $300.00. ...or getting the iPad mini for the same price. That make me upset since my iPad has retina display, cell antenna and 64GB. Bought less than 2 years ago. I wonder if you paid the same for your replacement, or was less or more.
    Thank you for your reply

  • External speakers buzz when FW HD connected

I bought couple of external firewire Fantom drives to store my mp3 files but when connected to the PB they cause the speakers (external, powered) to emit a buzz that sounds like they pick up the HD spinning noise. It doesn't happen with iMac or any other hard drives I have (including older Fantom). Length of the cable, position in chain (if chained) or the placement don't seem to matter. Any insights?

  • Noisy Left side Fan

I'm one of the guys that can live with the "lines", but today I started with a noise like if the left side fan is touching something (trrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....) on my PB HD 1.67 . What's going on?? I really cant live with this!!
It started while gaming but now the noisy fan goes on as soon as I power the Book...GRRRR
    I'm I alone??
    Thanks
    15" PB 1.67 HD   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   1gb apple ram

It is a bit more noisyer than 1.5ghz models but heck it works very nice.
Usually when I play games obviously I have the speakers plugged in and or headset+mic on so the sound is not that anoying to me.
if it is loud enough to bother you even when the game / music is on then maybe you might want to get it fixed at Apple care / Apple genius bar.
Compared to my desktop linux/PC it is so quiet.
What might help is to get one of the laptop cooling pads that has it's own fans or just raise the Pbook a little so air can curcilate to passivly cool it down.
This will reduce the fan noise or fan usage.
Also set the power option to normal as you loose about 6 fps at max display settings of the game.
Also paly your games at lower display settings maybe 800x600 32bit with normal or med-high settings as this reduces the stress/load on the CPU / GPU and so reduces heat.
This will also make it more playable and faster.

  • Static from thunderbolt display speakers?

There is a lot of static from thunderbolt display speakers - this monitor is brand new, so can't be worn out... Anything to fix it?

I have a similiar problem in that my TB display makes a hissing whenever there is some type of connection between the MBP and the display.  It can be so noisy that I have to disconnect the $900 display.  Apple doesn't seem to care that it's customers have this problem as they've yet to provide a fix.  On one thread I saw they made someone pay $200 to fix the problem.

  • Buzzing out of speakers from iMac

Ive set up my iMac to output through a pair of studio speakers. I have a Saffire Pro 24 interface which has a 400 to 800 connection to the iMac, and then jack audio out to speakers. Im getting a lot of noise out of the speakers which disappears as soon as i disconnect the iMac from the interface. I also get extra buzzing sounds when i move the mouse or scroll etc. Is this standard?

Definitely NOT standard, and it's not your particular brand of interface... it's anything powered. Same thing happened with my Pro Tools Mbox, but the hash was still there when I disconnected the Mbox and uninstalled Pro Tools. My 27" iMac i7 does exactly the same thing. It's some sort of system noise out of the ANALOG headphone jack, and only when hooked up to external powered speakers or mixing board. I thought it might be be some sort of grounding issue, since it's only when it's hooked into some other POWERED piece of gear, but I've tried everything I can think of to isolate the source and I can't.
These system noises occur only when using the analog headphone jack, and only when hooked up to anything that uses AC power. They are not heard when using headphones directly plugged in the back of the iMac. The only way around the hash is to use the OPTICAL out of the headphone jack (which is clean as a whistle). The noises vary, depending on the activity on the monitor: scrolling anything, selecting an area, moving windows, web pages loading (especially noisy with a lot of Flash content), etc... all have distinct noises. They are the same in both channels and are not affected by the System volume control, even when the System volume is muted. One interesting thing I noticed - when the Sound panel of System Prefs is open, switching back and forth between Output and Input causes the noise to be significantly quieter on Input, then loud again on Output. In a studio environment, it's impossible to edit with these noise constantly in the background. The noises do not affect recording, only playback.
