Nokia 1200 losing contact details

Help please! Have just bought a Nokia 1200. The product booklet is v small and not v useful, so no help there.
My problem is that I keep losing people from my contacts list. I usually delete txts that I've read, so maybe that's where the problem lies. I do though try to do the deleting through the Menu, Messages, Delet messages route, but it still happens - people disappear for no reason.
Any answers, please?

My wife is having the same problems as a reciever. She works in a school as a teaching assistant and her teacher sends messages that are mixed with previous texts from ages ago.
Can anyone shed some light on this problem or is it only her and this poster?

  • Nokia 5130 loss of contact detail

I bought a nokia 5130. Under settings -> security, I set the security level to 'phone'. I then added my contacts. I also added each contact's birthday as additional contact detail. After switching off the phone and switching it on again, I still had my contacts but every contact's birthday was gone. After some time a discovered that by setting the security level to 'none', adding the birthdays again, switching off the phone and on again, the contacts were still there and every thing was allright. This felt like a bug in the firmware. So I would like other people to confirm this. My wife also bought the phone and had exactly the same problem. The phones are running the latest firmware.

i have a similar problem in 6.94 firmware..i bought a new 5130 blue this is my second 5130..i updated the firmware to 6.94 and copy to phonebook to my telephone memory and it restarts automatically like resetting in music player..and all the attached ringtones were lost..then i put them in sim card memory turn off the phone manually and nothing changed..attaches ringtones were there..what is that? a bug of 6.94 or something else?

  • Add contact detail to a message Nokia N97 Mini

Hi, I bought a Nokia N97 Mini in January, and I still can't resolve this problem: I don't know how to add a contact detail to the body of any text message. I have had several Nokia phones, for years, and I remember that if you wanted to send a text message, lets say to a friend and this friend asked you for someone else's phone number in order to send it you just start a new message> insert content> contact detail, then you just chose the contact you'd like to send the phone number of and that's it. Now, I can't figure out how to do it with my new phone. Sorry if I sound silly, it's just that I don't know where else to look for. Thnx!

    Hi,
I beleive you are using MS Outlook.
    Try the following workaround.
    Manual sync
Open Nokia Ovi Suite--> Sync--> Sync option--> Uncheck the sync automatically everytime you connect the device.
    Then Sync--> Sync now--> Contact,
Repair the "pst" and the "ost" Outlook files as in the following location.
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANPST.EXE
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANOST.EXE
Right click the above mentioned exe file and 'Run' it.
    NOTE
It's adviced to take a back- up of the user's Outlook folders to avoid any loss of information.
Check with Microsoft support pages for more information.

  • Nokia 6300 Can't change contact details

I have synchronised my phone with my PC. Now I am unable to change any of the contact details in my address book. If I enter a new contact and try to change it, it is possible. Any idea what I can do? Thanks

I have experienced the same thing about a year ago on a 6233 but with an older PC Suite. What version of PC Suite are you using ?

  • Can somebody tell me the contact details of the BT...

I have been waiting over 3 weeks for a date for a new installation for a brad new house after being told the phone line and broadband was working on day 1.....amazing as i dont even have a telephone wire from the telephone pole to the house!
I have spoke to at least 10 people, all of which take zero responsibility for the issue and just keep passing me to another department...
The last call i just received saying that "Terry Ann" will call me back tomorrow after 11am to "discuss what work needs doing".....great ill just wait for that phone call then. Every time i receive a phone call it just makes me more and more angry as we are no further to getting a resolution than i was on the 5th November when iwas told the issue was resolved.
Apparently for over a week BT were trying to rectify a fault on my line (even though a line didnt exist) and this fault could not be closed down on the system until it was resolved....and clearly it was never going to be!!
So i think, we are now getting somewhere near the point of getting a new installlation date, from the provisions team, but obviously i have to wait until after 11am tomorrow...
Certainly no signs of being moved up the queue because of the appalling service i have received!
I would love to take my business elsewhere but unfortunately Openreach run the new lines for everyone else that provides a telephone SERVICE....haha service makes me laugh!!!
I have never experience the level of incompetence as i have over the course of the last few weeks and when i asked one person i was speaking to whether THEY thought that the service i had received was acceptable....their response was "i can comment on that sir".
To be honest i dont want anyone else to say sorry, i dread to think how many times the ten people have said sorry.
Its just not good enough and apparently team supervisors are there to manage the staff and not to escalate customer complaints to...... but should a client request a call back from a supervisor you have to wait 2 hours for that....
So you wait 2 hours to get a call back just repeating what the member of staff had previously told you....a load of sorrys and waffle telling you that they arnt in the department you need.
I actually just wanted the contact details of someone senior that can hear my complaint as im not getting anywhere closer to having a phone line and internet after more than 2 weeks...
The only way BT can still be in business is that there truely is no other option in obtaining a phone line...
Please somebody tell me how i can get the contact details of the top guys at BT....i need something done about this!! It is not good for my blood pressure!
I cant have BT responsible for my son losing a father because he has gone insane whilst trying to get a phone line and internet....

  • Nokia C7 - Changing Contact types???

When you add a new contact it automatically shows it as a mobile number.  Is there a way to change this to call it "Home" as some of my contacts have a home number and mobile number but at the moment my C7 will only call them both mobiles and there seems to be no option to change this.
I would be very grateful for any help with this.

    Hello again !
I figured out what's the problem There is nothing wrong in your C7 at all ! The thing is : your nokia is saving contacts in your SIM card , which restricts all details what so ever ! In order to be able to save other details , you will have to save your contacts in your phone memory ! More space , more details , almost a unlimited number of contacts unlike in SIM card !
I advice you to save all your contacts in your phone memory and delete all your contacts from your SIM , keep it empty ( if you want ) , and occasionly backup your contacts in order to be on the safe side !
    To do that :
1/ We want to make sure you are seeing contacts in the SIM card only :
    * Open the contacts list .
    * Go to "Options" --> "Settings" .
    * Select "Contacts to display" and make sure ONLY "Sim memory" is checked, then press OK and then BACK .
2/ We want to copy all contacts from the SIM card to the memory card :
    * Go to "Options" --> "Mark / Unmakr" --> "Mark all" .
    * Go to "Options" --> "Copy" , and then select "Phone memory" as it appears .
3/ Now that the contacts have been saved in the phone memory , no need to keep them in the SIM card , so let's delete them from the SIM card [ /!\ SKIP STEP 3 IF YOU DONT WANT TO DELETE THE CONTACTS FROM THE SIM CARD , however I advice you to do so ] :
    * Go to "Options" --> "Mark / Unmakr" --> "Mark all" .
    * Go to "Options" --> "Delete" , and then select YES .
4/ Now we must select the phone memory as default for contacts :
    * Go to "Options" --> "Settings" .
    * Select "Contacts to display" and make sure ONLY "Phone memory" is checked, then press OK and then BACK . [ Usually after this step , the phone will automatically do the following step , but here it is just to make sure : ]
    * Select "Default saving memory" and make sure ONLY "Phone memory" is checked, then press OK and then BACK .
And that's it you can from now on , save in one contact more than one number ( unlike in SIM ) , you can add as much detail as you like ( unline in SIM ) , you can add a picture to each contact ( unlike in SIM ) , and you have almost a unlimited number of contacts to save ( unlike in SIM ) !
If you have previously saved two numbers for one contacts seperatly ( which would be the case because you have been saving contacts in SIM card ) , you can merge them under one contact by going to "Options" --> "Merge contacts" and selecting what numbers you wanna merge under one contact only .
Please keep me uptodate about this issue and if you solved it or not
Please if there is anything at all you did not understand , let me know
    Have a nice day !

  • Cannot access contact details

my iphone 4, I can open my contacts and select the contact, but cannot open the contact details to dail their number or send a text, can someone help

Yep, I have the same issues with my TTG 700 and my N70. What software version are you running on the TomTom? I'm currently using v5.201 & this doesn't support any N series phone, so I had to choose the 6680 from the list.
TomTom have released a recent software update, v5.420 which is meant to be compatible with more models but I am sure I have read that this version supports the N90 but not the N70 as of yet.
    TomTom v5.420 update
Actually I am still running v5.201 as I use the PocketWorld GPS speed camera database and I have read that upgrading to v5.420 can cause issues.
I can make and receive calls using the TTG with the N70 and I can also access the internet if using the traffic update functions for example, that's about it.

  • Restore contact details

    Dear Friends
I am a user of Nokia Express Music 5310, unknowigly selected the option Settings->Rest.Factory sett.->Restore all, now my all contact details are gone permanently. Unfortunately I didn't take any backups till date. Kindly let me know is there any possibility to restore my old settings? Because my contact details are very important to my official activities.
    Please help.....

Now retreiving the detailsof ur contacts is a very bleek or imust say finding a tiger in iceland.......... now only thing that i know is
your contacts are stored in a FOLDER called 'other' if you have mass memmory or M-S D card or a back up of them look for the folder called OTHER and in that the contacts
copy this to the FOLDER called other on the phone this is where the contacts are read from 'OR'
u can just also see the .nbu files there - so you have to buy the Nokki programme to get your contacts but frankly speaking if these can get back what u lost

  • Viewing contact details takes along time. N82

    Hi!
I've been having this problem with my Nokia n82 for a while now. Whenever I try to see a contact's number by selecting it and clicking it, it takes about 20 seconds before I get to the Contact details. The phone doesn't freeze though (I still see the cursor in the search field blinking and I can switch to another process).
Once I opened one contact details, opening any contct details is quick. Only once I exited and killed the process will it take a long time to open a contact details again. Is that normal?
    Thanks!
    Fred

    Hi Jarda,
Thanks for your post and welcome.
Google uses a different naming scheme for phone numbers which does not translate to Windows Phone automatically. While some of the basic phone entries in Google Contact will translate to Microsoft account numbers other won't by default.
If you have access to software like Microsoft Excel or Libreoffice Calc you can fix this using the attached CSV file. This file has an account which is set up to use the default Microsoft Account naming for phone numbers. You can export your contacts to a CSV file in Google Contacts (More>export) then rename the phone descriptions as indicated in the attached CSV file and import these back into your google account using the Import Contacts... option. When done your phone numbers will be available on your Lumia after the next sync.
Press the 'Accept As Solution' icon if I have solved your problem, click on the Star Icon below if my advice has helped you!

  • Can I hide my contact details in a group chat

When I am in a group chat my friends friends can see my details how do I stop this? Is there a privacy settig for this?

Depends which Nokia and what contact export options it has. Did you check the Nokia manual or support site?
    Basically the process is either:
    a) Sync the Nokia using software provided by Nokia to the contact manager on your computer
    Or
    b) Export the contacts from the Nokia as vCards and then import that vCard into the contact manager on your computer
    Then
    c) Sync the contacts from the contact manager on your computer to your iPhone via iTunes or iCloud
As you haven't mentioned which Nokia or what computer you have, it's impossible to be any more specific.

  • Send Contact Details

I know that if I open a contact and click share then I can send a contacts details via an email attachement BUT
I want to be able to write a text message to someone and half way through add someone elses contact number to the text so as to send it to someone else. Ie "he tom here is robs number 077777777"
On my old nokia there was a menu option "add contact number".
Can I do this on my iphone or is it actually a case of opening it in address book, copy the number then paste it later into the text message?
    Thanks
    Chris

The iPhone only supports sending contacts by e-mail or MMS. I've just released a little app that sends contacts via SMS - the contact name and number are just sent as text and you can edit the text of the SMS before sending it.
    Do have a look - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sms-contact-sender/id379039120?mt=8

  • Invalid contact details when SMS-ing

    Hi
I have a Nokia N8. When I send a text message it comes to some problems. When I enter the desired contact from the phonebook and click send it says to me "Inavlid contact details: (and a contact name).
But when I directly enter the number no problems appears.
Then, the message does not come in the form of chat when I have corresponded with one contact. I have to get out the message that I got that to be able to responded to that message. So sent and received mess. are not in the same chat. ( except those when I directly put the number in).
I hope there is a solution to this problem and sorry for a long post.
    Thanks

I'm having a Nokia E7-00, and m also facing the same problem...... plz suggest a way out.......... it's real messy.....

  • Syncing iPhone to empty mac - apps and data and contact details

Will syncing my iPhone to a new empty mac wipe all my apps and their data and my contact book details?
My laptop died so I brought a new MacBook. I want to sync my iPhone with the new MacBook but i'm scared of losing my app data (e.g. game saves) and contact details on the iPhone.
I know that the music on the iPhone will be wiped but will my apps (and the data saved within them) and my contact details be uploaded to my mac or wiped from the iPhone?
    Thanks

Syncing to a different computer will remove and replace all iTunes-managed media content - that includes music, videos, and apps. As a result, you will lose your app data that's currently on the iPhone. No real way around that, unfortunately.
For contacts/calendars, you need to create one 'dummy' contact in Address Book on the new Mac, and one 'dummy' calendar appoint. That will result in you getting prompted to Merge or Replace the data when you first sync - choose Merge and your contacts/calendars will be transferred from the iPhone to the Mac. If you try to sync with a completely empty Mac, that will erase the contacts/calendars from the iPhone, too.
