Nokia 1202 (earpiece at the back?)

hi,
i've read a review and some comments online that this Nokia 1202 have problems on the earpiece? it's been said that the earpiece is situated BEHIND the set and not infront right above the LCD where there's a hole for earpiece which was claimed to be just a empty hole.
i would like to know how true it is...
i saw the review in youtube; here's the link... Nokia 1202 review ... wondering how true is his review before me purchasing this handset...
thank you and would appreciate a reply...

that's why i'm shocked to see that too and i just cant get a sample phone to test it and proof how true is the review.
since here's the nokia center support discussion board, i'm guessing you can give me a more accurate answer. is the handset's earpiece behind instead of in front?
thank you!

  • Nokia 2600 classic - how do I get the back cover o...

I have just bought my first mobile phone ever, so am a complete novice; I have tried to follow the instructions to press the release button and take off the back cover to fit the battery, but I cannot get the cover to open.
The main question is, am I trying to open the phone at the right end - i.e. if the phone is face down, the end nearest to the loudspeaker?
I am loathe to use an implement on the phone in case I damage the case.
Any advice would be very welcome - I feel so stupid!
    Thank you.

nothing to be ashamed of, we all have problems with certain phones sometimes.
the back cover of the 2600 is quite big and covers the whole back side plus sides of the phone that's why it's difficult sometimes to remove.
the release button is located at the top of the device , with the phone facing down press on that button, remeber that the body of the button is actually part of the body and not of the cover and so performs as a latch.
while pressing hard enough on that button you can fell that the button goes in enough distance to clear the whole thickness of the back cover plastic. Now wedge your finger nail between the cover and the body anywhere at the top of the device, that should give you enough lift to release the upper part of the cover.
pull up and slightly backward to release the lower part of the cover.
for a diagramtic representation , please take alook at your user manual, available here:

  • Nokia having problem in designing the back cover f...

did anybody noticed the difference of 5800xm between taking picture with the back cover and without the back cover?
i can only tell that, the picture taken with back cover is juz too **bleep**, while the picture taken without back cover is clear, vivid & nice...
before discovering this, i have heard of many people complaining about the picture quality of 5800xm. they were wandering whether the Carl Zeiss Optics on it is true or fake... and now, i know it's not the problem of the lens, but because of the back cover. it makes the LED flash to expanse to the bottom left corner of the camera, and thus making the picture with flash on looks like it's taken in the midst of the fog.
i hope Nokia would see this, and do something about it. at least design a better kind of back cover that can fix this problem for us to change. thxz...

what do u mean by "u tried and it worked"? was it mean that my experiment was true, and that the problem i mentioned happened to ur 5800xm as well?
it's ok if nokia didn't provide us the xenon flash on an Xpress Music series, Dual LED does take great image too. but at least design another good back cover for our beloved 5800xm. the Carl Zeiss Optics Lens is really good on it, and it takes good picture without the back cover...

    Instructions for opening case:
    1. Place handset in left hand (screen down)
    2. Place left thumb just under groove that comes from camera
    3. Place right thumb at the bottom of case so that the top of the thumb can press the button but bottom of thumb will push very bottom of case down.
    4. with both thumbs working together push down and up with right thumb and up with left thumb.
Case SHOULD click open, if the button has moved up inside the back case the plastic springs have bent or broken and the unit needs to go into a CNSP.

Hi, I just tried doing what you suggest but am not quite sure what groove you mean in respect of the groove that comes from the camera. From the side this phone looks like it is three layers and I am not sure which bit/s are supposed to slide anyway now. My button is now half pushed underneath the back of the 'back' but is still sort of moving up and down if pressed on, but I just cannot budge the back or what I think is the back in any way whatsoever. My thumb is short and I cannot push the button down and push the back with the same thumb! Unfortunately taking the phone to a shop is not an option and I need the phone for business for Monday. I am scared of breaking it by using force. Someone has mentioned a knack and a way of getting it off but has not said how apart from yourself.Message Edited by binarycape on 03-Mar-2007

  • Nokia N97 cover defect: Scratched the back camera ...

    Hello everyone,
Last weekend, as I opened the back camera lens cover, I saw one straight line scratch
I was cursing myself, even though I keep my phone in a pouch. But today as I was scrolling through HOFO, I came accross a thread where people we complaining about similiar issues.
I think this is a defective design problem on N97s, if there are some dust particles under the screen then they will scratch the screen when you slide the cover to open or close it.
Will nokia take resposiblility to fix these screens, I am really **bleep** off. I have been a Nokia fan from last 7 years.
This is what we get after spending $650 USD to buy a hyped flagship device.
Could anyone tell me who to complain and how get it fixed.

well aftear reading the hofo i just smacked a screen protector in the lens, i got it from the "home button" of some iphone's screen protectors I had. as soon as I slided the cover close/open the lens (or the screen protector) got scratched so Im 100% sure that the sliding cover will scratch the lens. Not that fast, since the screen protector adds some bulk on the surface. So if you are going to do this make sure that the screen protector doesnt invade the flash zone or you will get some flashes over the picture and also make sure that it doesnt get under the lens frame I think the cover has a slider under the frame.
So finally I feel better, and the picture quality doesnt change anything even when using the flash!

  • Nokia 6280 the back falls off very easily

    Hi
The back on my Nokia 6280 comes off very easily. Sometimes I come to take it out my pocket and it has come off - surely this isn't the norm - is it?

No - that is not normal. That the phone to a repair shop that is authorized to work on Nokia Phones and ask them to fix it for you.

  • Nokia N95 8 Gigs "The Phone that got forgotten"

    Dear Nokia Support,
After I have bought this phone, I was not as please with the price and over all service that I have received from Nokia. I didn't care that it was expensive, but the service... Lets me begin where I have bought this phone for over 24,500 baht (Central World Power Buy, Bangkok, Thailand) [new copper color, N95 8 gigs]. I've bought the phone for the look, services, GPS system, but I am sorry to say that I didn't get any of that.
Lets start from the back; the GPS system. It takes so long to get the sat. lock, not even counting the time to calculated route, I was confirm with the Nokia Customer care that it will be resolve when I upgrade the firmware to 20 something. Unfortunately, when I have upgraded my phone, the phone act very weird and GPS function take even longer than it was before; even with the aids of GPRS where it should have taken only a few mins if not less. It would taken over 5. (this function become obsolete for me, as it is not helping me in anyway)
Secondly, as it was claim on the website of Nokia that Nokia have the best Care service. It was not for me, at first it was ok, as I was in the shop to get my phone firmware update, i got premium services and being taken care off right way. The reason that I was in the shop the first time was because I was using the Windows Vista at home, Nokia Care software was not support it (talk about up to date??) The second time however was different (MBK, Bangkok, Thailand) I didn't show my phone like the first time, I simply told them that my phone need fixing. My N95 screen went blank all of the sudden, I could make call normally but I could not see anything on the screen. One of the customer rep. told me that it would take 3 hours to fix the phone. So I was very please that I was being taken care off. Before I am going further, I would like to add that I have only use this phone for little over 3 months, I have never drop the phone or expose to any wet condition, and I have always keep the phone in the leather pouch that I bought for it. Now, back to the story. One of other rep, came over and told me that she could not find me on the system and I would need my recipt to get my phone service... (wait.. I bought this phone to 3 months, yet already have service here once.. and I still need a recipt??? I was very **bleep** at that point as the way they are saying that I would not get my phone services for I have not have my recipt... eventually she went to the back and finally saw me on the system. At that point she gave me a different answer than the rep. that he was handle me before, she said this phone need to be send to the center and it will take over 2 weeks for it to be fix. After argue for a while, she said that she will need to ask the tech. and she got back to me and say that she will have the tech. try to do something to the phone (I guess replacing some hardware) for 3 hours and she will either get back to me or I have to come back in 3 hours. After 3 hours has passed, I came back to the Nokia Care Shop and ask for the status of my phone, and found that they were waiting to talk to me about the phone. She said the phone have some water stain inside, and it will not be handle by Nokia as it is void the service agreement (well, my phone have not been anywhere near water or drop anywhere, the only reason this happend is only maybe from the my sweat.) and it is going to cost me over 2,200 baht to fix the phone as water mark void the service agreement.... well my phone was void because of normal use.. and it has only been 3 month. I guess Nokia is not for me, as I can't even sweat when using the phone. and I am not talking about a lot of sweat either, because my office is always in the air conditional Building. It was not as bad if she have called me faster to lets me know this other than letting me hang around for 3 hours and ask for the status. Now I have to wait 2 weeks. This is what I got from the best of service care in thailand. Furthermore, I know I could have just walk to the other end of the mall and get my phone for maybe half the price and possibly in less than an hour. Maybe I was stupid....
That was it, maybe it was my mistakes to even pick this phone from the begining, it wasn't cheap, changing it to a dollar is over 700 dollars phone. I was left with no choice, the phone is in parts in their hand. In order to fix my phone I will have to pay for the repair... or else I would just lost that 24,500 baht that I have just invested on the phone for merely 3 monthes. I will mark that Nokia is not for me and I will never buy anymore of Nokia Product. Expensive yet not user friendly. As soon as I got my phone back from the service, I am just going to sell it.
    Soravis,
    very disatified customer of Nokia

    Check these:
    (1) Phone software version - v20 and up have better GPS handling than earlier versions, if you have earlier than that then update.
    (2) Maps application version - if you have v1.2, update to v2.0 (this version will be inbuilt if your phone can update to software version 30 anyway) - this version is much improved.
    (3) This model has its GPS receiver positioned beneath the keypad, rather unusually, so make sure you have the slide open when using GPS.

  • Nokia 2600 classic missing the ENHANCEMENTS option...

    HI,
The ENHANCEMENTS option is missing under my SETTINGS.
Is that why I can't hear any sound thru the phone earpiece or the earphones?
I've tried several times to reset the RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS AND RESTORE ALL under SETTINGS and the problem is still there.
There are no updated software on the nokia website yet.
    Can anybody help me out?
    Thanks,
    Stewart

The 2000-series phones are not usually included in Software Updater, because they are basic phones designed mainly for users who don't use PC Connectivity.
If you are hearing nothing through either the phone speaker of the headset, then it points to a fault rather than a setting, since connecting the headset should switch between the two sound outputs. You may have to get the phone checked by Nokia service.

  • Nokia musicplayer not refreshing the music library

I cant refresh music library in my 5233,refreshing just dont stop in music player and so no new tracks are added to it however all previous songs of music player are available in music player, new aaded tracks play well in file manager but they dont appear in music player as refreshing music player dont stop But when I refresh music player by removing MMC then it quickly refresh music library I don't want to do hard reset on my phone however I have done soft reset Please help me..

    Hi archithn,
Welcome to the Nokia discussions board!
Sorry to hear you have been having problems with the music player, but since you have done a soft reset, you should back up your device using Nokia suite and then hard reset the device. This ensures you can sync the back up file back to your freshly reset device without losing any important information.
This also syncs your music files, but usually they should be in your MMC card.
Let us know how you get on.
    Regards,
    haZey

  • Nokia do not delay the release for PR2.0 as PR1.1

Their have been already delay's at release for PR1.1 please Nokia do not delay the PR2.0 as we want to see quick home screen, split screen for typing with portrait qwerty, decent browser, improved battery life, camera improvements, Remove lags and to promote Quick operating experience.
If you like my post or think it was useful then please hit the star button. Thanks :-)

I would rather them delay it and add more updates to PR2.0 however I would prefer it if they would roll out smaller updates to PR2.0 instead of one big package spreads out the testing phase and gives them more feedback but what do I know. One thing I would really like is Flac support as well as other open source formats like ogg a top notch music player should play those especially since n8 sound is so nice. I would like to see a well spaced, well formatted querty keyboard not that weird put all letters to the left and some other stuff to the right thing. ONE TOUCH back button in browser simply put I would not just a new dress on the old browser that would be a disaster! OVI maps needs more locations it seems to be lacking many places at least here in the US as well as when you navigate I'd rather it act like it does in maps which never automatically change your view/position, as well as a list of directions should be easily accessible!! you can't get step by step directions how lame!. OVI Store needs to be overhauled its very slow and doesn't detect whether or not an application is launched outside of the program and you cannot review an app untill you open it threw OVI Store?? OVI Store has to do a lot of pointless multiple second loads, I've had it bug out _many_ times when trying to scroll threw a list. Please look at android market its very well layed out compared to OVI Store I'd like to see same functionality at least please! Nice looking and fast orientation/transitions I know this is possible on the N8 looking at nokia bubbles, also a side of nice kinetic scrolling and I'll be in heaven. Great work non the less on symbian 3 I think look forward to seeing updates :_)

    Hi
I have a new 6288 which I got today. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the back to put the battery it. The guide says it should slide my mine is very firmly attatched.
Should the whole back (shiny black and sliver bit) or just the shiny black bit slide off?

I heard someone used a chisel - Not a very good idea!
If it does still not come off even with Scoobyman's advice, Take to your operator store and they will be able to help you.
