Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Here's how to activate call forwarding:
Tap Phone >  > settings, or tap Settings > network+‎, depending on your software version.
Switch Call forwarding to On.
Type in the phone number in the Forward calls to box, and tap save.
To check if call forwarding is being used, tap the top of the screen. This icon should show up.
Note: You may need to contact your network service provider to get this service.
Besides forwarding calls to another phone number, you can also forward these calls to your voice mail and listen to them later.
Tap Phone >  > settings, or tap Settings > network+‎, depending on your software version.
On first use, type in your default voice mail number in the Voicemail number box.
If necessary, switch Use default voicemail number to On.
Switch Call forwarding to On, and type in your voice mail number in the Forward calls to box.
Note: You may need to contact your service provider to get this service & to get the default voice mail number.
Hope this helps.

My boss travels a lot and I need to forward calls to his cell (Iphone 5).  If I conference the calls I cannot disconnect and therefore have to mute my phone.  There has got to be some way I can just transfer the call to his phone.  Any suggestions???

  • Nokia 1520 shortcomings and lack of proper support

I have been given a Nokia 1520 as a gift (after i had suggested i liked it). I have owned it for 3 weeks roughly and it's been a total saddening experience. Amongst the countless issues i am meeting are:
    - The infamous oversensitive display issue. Can't type any sms or email straigth without having multiple characters repeated over and over. This also means that while i try to scroll the screen i happen to open unwanted apps or unwanted links in the browser or in newsreaders. Also, trying to select a tile to resize/unpin it, it most often results in opening it countless times before i actually manage to unpin.
    - Lack of a keyboard allowing me to input Traditional Chinese with Pinyin (It was requested in 2011, ie 3 years ago).
    - Timed stroke writing for chinese characters means that if you are too slow (as most westerners writing chinese are) you can't even write characters (maximum timing is 0,8 secs).
    - Lack of any form of quick input like swiping or so. Multiple issues also at downloading languages for the keyboard. A nightmare.
    - The OS won't allow users to select single words or place the cursor in a specific position inside a word. This can be done in some places but not everywhere.
    - Bing Translator honestly sucks and there is a huge shortage of dictionaries and language related resources in the market (nothing comparable to Pleco or Hanping
    - Lack of a decent notification bar and a LED telling people they got mail or messages or calls when the phone is muted. This caused me to lose two important jobs.
    - Very poor/shaky reception for the phone and Internet. Where my Galaxy Note 2 works full broadband, the Nokia connection goes up and down or is none at all.
    - I took the device to Nokia Support Centre in Taipei and the person in charge was a kid who not only didn't know anything about the, now well known, issues of the device but he also got very arrogant, talking carelessly and with a very bad attitude and claiming "people shouldn't buy phones without being able to use them" and "if you tried it before why you complain now?". Tested the phone for 2 seconds and he decided it had no issues, so apparently no chances to have the phone sent for a repair/substitution.
Is this the path Nokia and Microsoft are taking with Windows Phone?
I am so disappointed that i am considering reselling the thing and going back from where i came from, IE Android.
It's a shame Nokia hasn't learned how to treat users yet. I am particularly disappointed at the defective device and at the attitude of the part time, lazy, sleepy teenagers they use in Taipei to cover the service making customers run (or worse since some of those guys really push your patience far above the limits, maybe they don't like foreigners or they are scared at speaking English, whatever it is, it's very uneasy and unpleasant). I have never seen such a bad service for a such a malfunctioning device in my life. I have owned maybe 20 or more devices to date (including old Windows Phones) and never had so many negative experiences piled up all together at the same time
I just wish i had been given a device with some other OS rather than a device with a Beta version of an OS supported by part time staff.

This would appear to be a genuine issue with the 1520. Do not have one so could not comment
    - Yes indeed i can grant you it's genuine. Haven't sent an email in the last 2 weeks. Just too frustrating.
I know there is several Chinese language settings but as I am not Chinese could not comment beyond this is not something Nokia could do anything about as it is a core OS issue and not a hardware/firmware one.
    - Well, it's easy to see if you have doubts. Enter: Settings-Keyboard and go search for any form of input that says "Traditional Chinese with Pinyin (PinYIn is the romanization of chinese characters. You type say "Wo" and the chinese character for "I" pops up amongst other choices. This has been existing from day 1 in any decent keyboard. It has been requested at MS suggestion board 3 years ago. Is still to be implemented. I find it hard to think how they can sell these phones here (especially considering the relations between China and Taiwan and the fact they use simplified/traditional respectively). It's not only a mad marketing move, it's also politically sensitive. No one normal does that here, believe me.
There's several swiping keyboard shortcuts such as typing special characters or numerals (tap hold the 123 key and swipe to the desired character)
    - Sure, then do one thing. Download any swiping keyboard on an Android device and then compare the speed at which you type and amend words. The WP keyboard is primitive. The fact you can't resize it combined with the screen oversensitiveness make it useless. Other Nokias are much much better, but you can't beat a real swipe keyboard, especially if you type as a profession. How can someone use such a keyboard on a device in 2014 is beyond me and and anyone else who has used an Android but even a Blackberry in old times. It's simply inefficient compared to anything else out there. Then we can argue on what we like or not but surely not on its lack of productivity compared to else (whatever else)
As long as the app does not use it's own code anywhere you want to enter text tap and hold to have the cursor appear and swipe to the location wanted.
    - Then do a test. Take an email sent by someone else. Then go to the portion of text he sent you in the REPLY mail you are writing and try to select one of the SENDER's words. You'll see it's impossible. Then move down and try to select a single word of your reply. You'll see it can be done. Different menus pop up based on where you are or which app you are.
Same is TEXT PREDICTION. It works in some places, doesn't in others, even when you'd need it
Never used it, as far as I heard especially since tha latest (recent) update this got a lot better)
You don't. Try to be a foreigner permanently based abroad and the usefulness of these tools (Dictionaries, translators, etc.) will appear immediately, especially when you have to handle or even study characters based on ideograms. Now, Android (Which i insist in saying i don't like due to their philosophy), offers not only a good mobile translating app (including a function where you take a picture then just scroll your finger on the words you want to be translated and translation pops up in a moment) but if you don't like it you can also find a wide choice of tools (Pleco and Hanping being among them and their developers having no intention to expand on WP for now and some not even in the future). In this perspective, what for you is useless or secondary, for people like me (and other expats who do business and work abroad) is a killer application. Google got it. Microsoft and Nokia, it seems, don't.
Never understood the obsession with a notification bar when your apps and services all give up constant updates and notifications on their tiles. I would not want a blinking light on my phone ever. If you are unable to check your phone even once an hour that is really not the phone or OS problem. Don't try and pin your own negligence on the phone that just makes you look silly.
Let's try to be constructive. This OS must not be built based on what you as Blog Admin like or don't like. It has to be built to cater for a wide range of users. Now, you don't like that led because apparently your tiles make you happy. I, don't spend all my day watching tiles. I work too so the phone goes in standby and since it's permanently muted (no ring, no vibration), LED is key to understand when i get emails or sms' or other notifications. I am not asking a multicolour LED as in Samsung devices (which allow you to assign a colour and vibration combination to different accounts so you understand based on colour and vibration what is important and what is not; but at least a basic primitve LED telling people "Hey you got mail or SMS". If it's not a LED, a screen notification waking up the phone from standby would to as well. As far as i know it's not present. It was present in many Android devices as both standard or third party app since the very first basic versions.
So you use a Note2 and 1520 at the same time? this may well have nothing to do with the phone and it won't be the first time it turns out a WiFi router is actually at fault.
So what do you do? Go to Starbucks and tell everyone to stop using the free Wi-Fi because your Nokia 1520 needs a dedicated connection and i threaten to suit Starbucks for not letting the King have the whole bandwidth for itself?
Galaxy works fine. Nokia doesn't, especially when broadband gets weaker (Taipei has Wi-Fi also on Metro wagons and any restaurant or other outlet you may think of). Core point is everyone is there reading their content on their mobiles. I am there trafficking with settings and **bleep**. Ended up using my Galaxy which works fine.
Those are not Nokia owned nor operated stores, go complain to them
Let me explain you a basic of marketing so you understand when it's not the case to defend a brand beyond reasonable limits even when you administer their blog.
If i, as a customer, enter a BLUE SHOP carrying a big, huge, NOKIA brand with all people wearing Nokia shirts i (and the other 23 million users who almost stopped to buy Nokia in Taiwan) assume whoever is running it, is running it on behalf of Nokia (Officially or unoficially doesn't matter as they get the license to sell from Nokia in any case). So, if your licensee works good, people are happy and buy more; if the staff shows signs of laziness, arrogance, treating adults without respect, showing ignorance on device's issues (They didn't even know about the global issue of oversensitiveness or about keyboards...the phone was an alien in their hands), people RUN. And i did RUN.
If you combine the bad support with the fact that the device is actually malfunctioning and lacks a lot of basic functions that in 2014 are given for granted, i beg to think that the only users left once they try the phone for one or two weeks will be some Fans of the brand and a few people who need it to watch movies and take pictures but you don't need a phablet for that. When you sell a bad device and have an as bad support that instead of solving the issue denies it you are turning the market in a self-help environment where users get angered (And you can see how many there are about Lumias and 1520 starting to get on top of the list). So, as much as you and I may stay argue in your blog, i think that if this issue is not solved this OS doesn't have much future.
Finally, a phablet is a sophisticated device where screen size, hardware and software package combine to offer a certain experience that ranges from entertainment to work IN A GLOBAL CONTEXT (Not in your garden, in your living room or when you show off the device to friends to let them see all those useless tiles which you can't even interact with as they open when you want to resize them etc. due to the bad screen). It means the device must be ready and functional in your country or in mine or wherever you live. In this case, Galaxy and their cheap plastic trash got it right with the Note family. Others like HTC and Nokia are lagging behind and 1520 in this respect is not helping people who want to jump from Android to Windows Phone to make that jump.
Test the device simulating the job a professional user doess (typing mails all the time, text messages, interacting with web content, copy/paste, translating and sharing data, sending data to other apps in a snap), then multiply that for 7 days a week and then experience the frustration accumulating day after day. In my case, this is further amplified by the fact that i come from a device that has spoilt me allowing me to do things in a snap.
This phone, as is, is no game!

  • OS version, 8.10.14157.200, no longer works with bluetooth in my car - Nokia 1520

I installed OS version, 8.10.14157.200 on my Nokia 1520 and now the Bluetooth connection to my car is choppy and can't hear the other party on the call, nor can they hear me. It will allow me to connect to the car but doesn't work at all. I did select the
advanced connection option but results were the same.
    Any suggestions?

I just fixed it on mine somehow.
    What I did:
    - Took RDC out of full screen mode
    - Dragged the RDC window over to the MBP monitor from my secondary monitor
    - Quit RDC hoping it would remember it's on the MBP monitor.
    - Started RDC back up and it opened on both monitors.
No idea what in there worked, but it's working now.
    Good luck.

  • Can't receive forwarded calls on phone

    Help needed, Thanks!
Just a moment ago I bought an online skype number intending
to have incoming calls forwarded to my cell phone. (in us)
However, every time although my cellphone is ON, the skype
number test calls I make always tell me "You are reaching..
please leave a message"... as if my phone isn't Turned on. Whhhhhy?
    ALSO
When I test call my skype contact from my the other skype account,
(to test the 'forward skype call to mobile phone'function) it always
    show "connecting....connecting... connecting.................."
I read "setting up forward calls" very carefully, the number is set
correctly and the waiting time is only a few seconds, no reason could
    "connecting" takes that long.
What is exactly wrong with this???
    Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo MUCH!

This is how do not disturb works when you have an option selected to allow the second call within a short time to come through. Do you see a crescent moon at the top of your screen? If so you have Do Not Disturb turned on in settings.

  • JTAPI answer forwarded call

    Hi
I've written a small app that registers as a CTI PORT and accepts calls, confers with a hunt group and then transfers once the call has been picked up by the hunt. (essentially creating hold music for the customer until someone in the hunt answers the call).
I'd like to get 10 of these running simultaniously however cti ports can't belong to a hunt group - so my next thought was to add a forward ctifailure/forward busy/forward no answer to chain the cti ports together, but my problem is this:
I can't get my application to answer a forwarded call - I can see the callchangedevents for it, but where I'd have answered the call for a normal call I get null when I do a getConnections(), obviously this means I can't transfer the call.
is there a better (or easier) way to do this? or can anyone provide me with some insight as to why answering a forwarded call might not be working for me?
    thanks in advance
    this is running on CUCM6

Isn't that how things work on a CCM? The continuing to beep (I'm not a 100% sure you can reconfigure that) seems to be a standard for Cisco (and various SIP phones for that matter), whereas other PBXes take the device on hook after a few beeps.
There's also Call.drop() though I've never used it.
Even on the Alcatel systems I work with.. when I drop a call via CTI, the device plays the busy/reorder tone (as you know in Switzerland they're both the same ;) for a few seconds, and then goes on hook (and that behavior is a standard feature for this PBX).

  • Forwarded call to cell phone is not displayed with...

I have a subscription allowing me to let calls to my skype online-number be forwarded to my cell phone. Now, if someone calls my skype number and is forwarded to my cell phone, my cell phone only shows "unknown". This is also the case, if the person calling me and being forwarded has activated his phone to show its number. So it has to be a setting inside the skype-program. How can I change this setting to let the number calling me being displayed on my cell phone?
Thank you, I appreciate your help very much.

It is possible that the telephone network is not passing the Caller ID information along.  This is the case in certain countries, even if the caller has enabled Caller ID and you have set a number in your Skype account to be used as Caller ID.  Have you done that yet?  Log into your account here on the Skype web site using the "Account" link at the top of this page to see your Skype account's Caller ID settings.
If you have Caller ID set up on your Skype account, sometimes you will see your own Caller ID number when calls are forwarded from Skype.  Other times, it may be "unknown" or a series of digits.  Unfortunately, Skype does not have control over all of this, since Skype works with partners in many countries to provide services using the telephone network (making calls to or receiving calls from telephones, forwarding calls from Skype to a telephone number, Caller ID, etc.).

  • Nokia 1520 Usability

    Hi,
I have been using Nokia 1520, Nokia Lumina Black Edition Windows Phone 8 for about 2 month, I find the phone really lack of basic functionality. Compare to Android and iOS.
Does anyone know where Bluetooth Shared File Store on Windows Phone 8?
I've been scratching my head about this one, no file manager so where does the Bluetooth shared files(pdf) store ?, Tried the Office Hub Icon (It is not in the document folder).
I have also notice that you only have one chance (and I must said one chance) to open with an appropriate app.
If you missed that chance, you can't find it (even it is already downloaded).
    For example:
After the file finish downloaded onto Nokia 1520, you'll see a message tap to view done ... on top of the screen, you need to choose the appropriate app to open it.
    Problems:
    1. When a file finish transfer my phone go into powersaving mode (or lock screen), I then tap on the message while I am on the Lock screen (That it I have lost the opportunity to find my file) - (Once Chance).
    2. You can send multiple file, but you can only tap once on the message (One Chance)
My annoying work around is to re-send the file (That mean there is another copy somewhere that use up my phone storage).
Another mind bloggling thing about Bluetooth Connection, I've seen question in the forum about bluetooth connection.
After the phone is paired with PC (You click on connect, it would connect for a few second and then disconnect, I was always under the impression that it mean the bluetooth is not working when it was disconnected after a few second).
From what I have understand so far is, Bluetooth connection only stay connect during file share and then disconnect.
I think if this is by design, then Nokia should documented some where that it is not mean to stay connected.
    Can't Open PDF Link
When visit site that does not return file type of pdf (you have no way of open/download the document) as it is become unsupported document type event if you surf the Store.
Can't Easily Share file between program.
Let said if I have a pdf document on the phone, I want to open up in different PDF Reader Program. I have to put into the Document Folder for Office Hub to recognize then I can select which Program to Open With (No setting for Default Program - you have to select every single time).
Each Program that you open with seem to get a copy of this same file.
Viewing Multiple Account in 1 Mail Program
(This really need to have it own topic, since it have so many gotcha).
    1. Linked Mail (Not obvious, someone in this forum was able to point me to this functionality) to allow viewing multiple mail account from 1 program (but this have it own limitation - you can't distinct which account the email is coming from unless you open the email and find there is a small text with the account name).
    2. When you are creating a Draft email and you switch to another app, how do you switch back to your draft. You have to Tap and Hold on the Back Key (<-) then find the draft email that you are currently composing.
    3. How do you find the sent folder for the mail account?
You have to Tap on ... Then select folders ( Not as simple as Android or iOS, just swipe/tap a button to show all the folder).
    Viewing Video File
    1. There is no option to lock the key, alot of time I accidentally tapped to the next section of the movies.
    2. No easy access to the volumn control on screen when play back the movie.
    PDF Viewer.
I am still waiting for a Good PDF Reader (With basic functionality, Highlight, Adding Bookmark).
I have try Acrobat Reader (But look like no one interested in improving it, the program is not optimized for Nokia 1520, therefore text is not very clear, I have raise the issue but no response).
I have sent the feed back to Microsoft regarding the default PDF Reader (Can't add bookmark, No Highlight), but no response. I guess, I am only a small fish in the pond.
    ePub Viewer.
I am not sure is it me or what, most of the ePub Reader is Line Justified which leave a big gap between the text and it really annoy me, but no setting to turn this off.
    Regards Dat.

And add up A) Oversensitive screen that doesn't allow you to type properly B) Lack of Traditional Chinese with Pinyin insertion (been asked first in 2011) C) Lack of consistency in when it allows you to select one single word or position the cursor accurately VS selecting whole words (It's OS selected not like Android that allows you to do what you want) D) Terrible support both online and in person (In Taipei i had a terrible experience) E) Free gift vouchers that you can't use because either your email or your current location DO NOT MATCH the gift card. In short it sucks 360°

  • View Photos in Nokia 1520

    Hi,
I am using Nokia 1520, while taking photos and viewing it, it is said that it will show only a 5MP photo in the phone (easy for sharing). My question here is how to view the original 20 MP High Quality pictures? Even i tried connecting to PC and searched for it but not able to find any.
    Appreciate your help
    Vinoth

    Hi JVinoth,
    Welcome to the forum!
Did you use the default camera app to take the 5MP images? If yes, you can use the Nokia Camera app to take and view photos with higher resolution. Just launch the Nokia Camera app, tap More (...) > Settings.  You can change the Capture mode from JPEG (5MP) to JPEG (5MP)+(19MP for 4:3 Aspect ratio, or 16MP for 16:9). This means that though the Lumia 1520 has a 20MP camera sensor, the maximum resolution that it can take is 19MP.
Once you take photos using Nokia Camera, you can try viewing the high resolution images using a PC.
    Let us know the outcome.

  • Stylus for Nokia 1520

    Folks:
I am looking at purchasing my first smartphone, and I am currently looking at the Nokia 1520. However, I wanted to inquire if a stylus can be used with the device, or if anyone has used a stylus with the device. If so, what applications are out there for
note taking or other features? I am only in the initial stage of research, since this will be my first smartphone purchase and first smartphone usage.
    Thank you.

A stylus would be a great addition to the Nokia Lumia 1520 to take advantage of its awesomely massive screen. Just make sure it's a capacitive stylus. Everyone will ask you if you feel silly taking a call on it and holding it up to your face. :)
As for app suggestions for note taking, I personally use OneNote, whether locally for digital record keeping, or on SkyDrive to sync across all of my devices(Also now available on Android and iOS).
    Check it out! http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/onenote/
I believe EverNote is another popular notes app.
    Thanks and good luck!

  • Nokia 1520 (US AT&T) in UK?

I have an AT&T Nokia 1520 that I want to use in the UK while I'm there for a couple of weeks. Is this possible? A few people at AT&T stores have told me that this is as simple as inserting a UK carrier SIM card (I was looking at Three, they seem to have decent rates) but all of the conflicting information out there has lead me here to ask...Does the 1520 need to be unlocked for this to work? Mine is not, at least not as far as I know. What's my best bet here? Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

The people in the AT&T stores don't know so they just say anything that comes to mind, as usual, and they should know better. I would go back and tell them how bad their information is.
Your phone is locked, locked to an AT&T sim card. It will not work with another sim until it is unlocked.
