Nokia 1680 connectivity with PC through serial cab...

I need to download some snaps to my pc from my nokia 1680 handset. I have arranged a serial cable for it. Please guide whether I need some specific software or any other configuration on handset in this regard.
Thanks,
shahzad hanif

We bought 4 of these (1680 classic) precisely because it can take pictures. It was a very tempting feature to add to a basic phone. Use us as your average Joes or a large chunk of your target market that are not tech savvy but purchase items for the very purpose that its ADVERTISEMENT said it can do. If the feature was SOLELY intended for MMS transmission then there should have been at least a WARNING and not just a statement that it can be sent via MMS. The reason why there was confusion was, although we are not techies but having inspected the unit in and out and finding a PORT for a connection led us to believe that the content of the phone's memory can be downloaded somewhere to an external storage. Why build a car with a DOOR or a PORT for a baggage compartment that ONLY opens to receive cargo but does not let it out?!  Don't build in a baggage compartment at all?! Just let the car be a tool to transport people. So instead of imperiously replying "there is no official support for this" or "you're on your own" and leaving unsuspecting consumers out to dry, why not offer to assist in any way the PORT was built in to do. If it was for the "use of Nokia personnel ONLY"  then offer to have outlets download the content for consumers or something.  I know this may entail a huge adjustment on the company's part but it's a small price in paying attention to the wave of similar plights posted on this site. The rewards will far outweigh it in the future as lessons are learned. It's not that consumers are being demanding, but it's none of their fault that this feature had an unforeseen loophole. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for new and exciting features. However, thoughtful regard must also be given in creating them. With the noble intention to add form and functionality, let it not be a disservice in the end.

  • N80 NOT CONNECTING WITH PC THROUGH CABLE

HELLO I GOT MY N80 2 DAYS AGO BUT I CAN SEEM TO GET A CONNECTION WITH IT AND THE PC(WINDOWS) USING THE CONNECTIVITY CABLE SUPPLIED! IVE TRIED LOT OF THINGS BUT IT JUST WONT WORK IT SAYS THE DEVICE HAS MALFUNCTIONED OR SOMETHING, PLZ HELP!!!!

I received my N80 yesterday, and tried to connect it using the latest version of Nokia PC Suite.
I got the same error as you - "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognise it".
My previos Nokia 6630 never had any problems connecting over the USB cable and works like a dream.
I've tried different USB ports, reinstalling the software, etc, etc - nothing so far. Infrared works fine, but it's a poor connection alternative.
There's a definite problem with the N80 and USB connections.
If Nokia are saying try a different PC it is a pointless response - I don't have any issues with the numerous other USB devices I use, and this is the PC I use for everything.
I love Nokia phones, but unfortunately maybe I'll look at what other vendors are offering (fix it please Nokia).Message Edited by yedals on 06-Jul-2006

  • Why T430 connect with monitor through VGA can only have 60 fps refreash rate?

    I have a T430 and T420.
When I connect the T420 with monitor through VGA, the refreash rate of the monitor can be 75 fps in 1600*900. But When I connect the T430 with the same monitor through VGA, the refresh rate can only be 60 fps, no 75 fps option in the list, Anybody has idea why it works like this?
    Thanks very much.

Actually, on second thought, does the external monitor show up as "Generic PnP monitor" in Device Manager? Or does it show up as the correct model number?

  • Can't connect with modem through e2500 router

I have an old Speedstream 5100 modem hooked to my e2500 router. Everything works well except if for some reason my modem disconnects from ISP I can not log into it through the route to reconnect it. I must plug a direct cable into modem from computer run connect script then plug modem back into router all is fine again.
Any ideas why connecting to modem through router is blocked?

My Speedstream only has one Ethernet connection so I didn't realize that it looked like a router to the local network. I changed the mode to bridge on the Speedstream and setup PPoE on e2500 and reconnected to ISP on e2500 setup screen. That may solve the problem of reconnecting since now it is managed on the e2500.
One thing I now see is since I left the modem IP set to 192.168.0.X I can't get to it at all through the e2500. Is that because my DHCP in e2500 is setup with 192.168.1.X IP range so modem isn't addressed in my network? If I hook directly to Speedstream and change IP to 192.168.1.X will it become visible on local network?
You cannot access the modem anymore while you have an active PPPoE connection. For PPPoE the E2500 won't need an IP address from the modem thus it doesn't do DHCP on the WAN port and thus it never sees it. When you try to access 192.168.0.* addresses the E2500 will route it through the PPP tunnel to the ISP.
If you hook your computer directly to the SpeedStream it should automatically pick up a DHCP address (assuming the computer is still running on DHCP and not with a static IP and the SpeedStream does not automatically disable the DHCP server in bridge mode). If you have set up a static IP on the computer you have to change the IP address to a 192.168.0.* address.

  • LCD becomes fuzzy after connects with T61p through VGA port

    Hello,
I have a Dell E207WFP LCD which is previously connected to a Dell desktop through VGA. Today I connect it to my T61p through VGA using the same cable. I am able to setup the resolution as native resolution which is 1680*1050 @ 60Hz. However, I found that the screen is obviously fuzzy than connect to the desktop. The font is not sharp. I tried to adjust the cleartype font in Win7 and the bright and contrast in the LCD but nothing helps. I connect it back to the desktop and it works fine... Both computers run Win7. Could you please let me know what could be the possible reason? Thank you very much!
My T61p uses FX 570m video card.

This is hard to judge without a picture. It could just be a low-quality VGA port which is not a defect but an attribute or a nature of many laptop VGA ports.
Remember that the VGA is an analog-type video connector and some sort of blurriness is to be expected, especially at higher resolutions, this is because the GPU processes the image digitally as well as the LCD, but the VGA is analog so the image has to go through 2 conversions.
In conclusion: VGA is great for use in projectors and other devices with resolution no higher than 1280x1024. Above this resolution, defects are likely to appear.
For higher resolutions I'd suggest purchasing the Advanced Mini Dock which features the digital DVI port.

  • Nokia 6030 connected with CA-45 Nokia PC Suite nee...

    Hello every one,
I have connected my nokia 6030 with my laptop using CA-45 cable after installing Nokia PC suite 6.81 in my laptop.
But I found that there is no driver available for CA-45 cable. The only way so far I know to connect the Nokia 6030 with a PC is CA-45. Can I get driver or Nokia PC suite suitable for me.
Please give me reply if you have any.
    Thanking you.

    Salut rakeshsahua,
    Just go to:
    http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/nokia-pc-suites/compatibility-and...#
Choose your phone model and then download. You don't need to worry about drivers, when you make the connection between the PC and the phone (which you are prompted to do the first time you run PC Suite) and it installs the drivers that it needs automatically.

  • Sharing MacBook Pro's Airport internet connection with PS3 through Ethernet

    Can this happen?
Tried several times and the connection seems to fail every time.
    Any ideas?

In OSX I haven't got my iPod touch to do diddly squat, but it does work in Bootcamp XP, although in an odd way. If no activity in about 10 seconds the next time you enter a web address or something into the iPod Touch it seems to take awhile to re-enable the connection, but other than that it works rather dependably.
    My setup:
Macbook Pro 2.4 Ghz used with Sprint EX720 Expresscard used in Bootcamp with Windows XP. Now I bought my God Daughter a touch iPod the same day I bought mine and it appeared that hers worked in OSX. I will get with her hopefully this evening to confirm this. If it is true I may try exchanging mine, since both were bought only a few days ago.
I spend more of my leisure time in XP anyway, just wish it wouldn't - oh wait, here's another thing; if my Powerbook is sharing the wireless connection from my Macbook Pro, which is in Windows, there is absolutely no pausing and the iPod Touch works like a charm. So evidently it is the iPod which is breaking the connection when no other device is using it; I notice it searches for new connections every 10 seconds (if you watch that little spinning ball icon which appears every ten in Settings/WiFi networks in the iPod display. Maybe someone has some clues as to what's going on there. Is there a way to set up a ping or something OR stop it from searching for new connections to keep the MBP connection active?
