Nokia 206 contacts search & arrangement problem

I have bought a Nokia206 last week & I am facing a problem with contacts. When I inserted the sim card, it showed all the contacts alphabetically arranged & we can search any of the contacts among all..
But after few minutes the contacts were all shuffled & were not present alphabetically. Moreover, I can't search any of the contacts. Whenever I restart my phone, the contacts are rearranged automatically for few minutes, but later on the same problem arises.
I reported this problem to Nokia Care in my city(Jalandhar) & they installed a New Software in my Nokia206, but the problem is still there in the phone. All the contacts are present without any order & I can't search any of the contacts from them.
I request you to tell me a permanent solution regarding this problem as soon as possible.

Last week a new SW version appeared for a short time on the Nokia Server...Then Nokia withdrew it with no explanation.

One of the first question that was asked when this new SW appeared was.."Has the search function been improved?"
The answer was.."no change!"
One might hope that when the new SW is release it will address this weakness.
I have to admit that I do not know whether the obvious shotcomings in the "search facities" is a resultof Symbian s 60.3 short coming or Nokia SW design..or a combination of the two.
Nokia produced this application but in my opinion it only helps a bit and is not a full solution.

Nokia 5800 contacts search problem after phone swi...

Recently bought a new 5800. Used Phone Switch to retrieve contacts from older Nokia, seemed to work ok.
The problem is that ALL NEW contacts added to 5800 memory appear BELOW the contacts list (not sorted) AND cannot be found via contact search. This is very annoying. How can this be fixed?

It sometimes does this.
Unlock the phone, go into the messaging and come back out again.
The "new message" notification should stop now.

E52 Contact search entry problem arising after lat...

Press the Contact button once, the Contact list screen shows up. At the bottom of the screen is the search bar. When I press any of the alpha-numeric keys, the alphabet (or number depending on how many times I press the same key) appears momentarily but disappears within less than a second. So now I CANNOT do a search. I have to scroll up or down!
I've since tried multiple things: re-boot phone several times, take out sim card + mem card and then do software reset, re-install the firmware under Ovi Suite's Software Update menu option. None help so far.
Can someone help please?

Answers to your questions are no to all. But I don't see why such legitimate usages (off phone overnight, batt out > 25min) should/can mess contact search. This simply should not happen in any phone, even the cheapest entry level phone.
Is 2 contacts too many to have ? As I mentioned, it did't work even with just 2 entries (all entered in English) in my experiment.
It's a firmware issue that the E52 firmware development team messed up and their validation team missed. Not the issue of how I use my phone or how many contacts I've got.

Nokia 2730 Contact search problem

Nokia 2730, having trouble searching for contacts, it will only let me search by their first name, anything else is irrelivant.
ie; if I have a contact called 'Bob Smith' and I search for 'Smith' it will not show up.
I think I need this function as I am constantly sending group for organising sporting teams.
I believe I have the lastest software in the phone, brand new out of the box I used Nokia Ovi Suite to try and update it, it said there were no updates available.

In case of S40 phones.. under Contacts settings-->Name display..If 'Last Name First' is selected..then the search is on LAST NAME..but yes, with a corresponding setting it will either search on First Name or Last Name at one time and not have the search functionality of an S60..
@wigwam - Can you explain your problem a bit more ? What comes up when you type 'M' ?..and is it a One Off issue or happens with search for any other contact (e.g. you have a contact called Jimmy and when you type 'J' it doesn't bring his name up)?

Nokia 701 Contact Search Problem

I recently formatted my Nokia 701 using code *#0000#
Now when I search for a contact in the search list, it uses the regular keypad (as used during message typing) Instead of the alphabetic keys..

To turn the keypad into qwerty keypad, follow these steps:
Go to Settings>Phone>Language>Writing Language>tap on the language that has a check mark on it (example: English)>Input style for portrait>Qwerty

Nokia N97 Contacts search FAILURE

Am I the only one who
is totally disappointed by Nokia? Isn’t this mobile meant for making calls in
the first place? Whenever I enter to contacts and when I want to search for a
contact between my at least 400 contacts, it is useless to use the fast scroll
or kinetic scroll. The search is useless as well as it offers a totally weird keyboard,
it is not even QWERTY or numerical. If only nokia would make the keyboard QWERTY
or like the numerical on regular phones. When you want to write a sms with numerical
keyboard it is fine, but no numerical keyboard or QWERTY in contacts is a SHAME
and DISGRACE. The phone is useless this way.

Nokia E50 contacts list synchronisation problem

Hello.
I have a problem. My contacts list in my cell phone keep two or more one type records per contact (for example when man have two mobile phones and ones stored in contacts list with same label 'mobile'). When I do synchronise my phone with PC so only 1st record stores per each contact with two or more identical labels. When I try to see contacts list by Nokia Phone Browser I see each contacts with first 'mobile' label too. Second, third, etc not shown. How I can to do full synchronise in this case?

Nokia 2630 contact search is case sensitive... is ...

I have a Nokia 2630 since last summer and I find it really annoying that I need to manually toggle between upper-case (for the first character) and lower-case (for the rest of the word) when typing a search in the contacts. Do you know if there is a way of avoiding this? I know that it would work if all my contacts were written in upper-case but that is not the case (and don't want to change that) moreover when the standard entry for a new contact automatically toggles the first letter in capital and the rest in lower-case....

Nokia 206 conversation problems(threaded)

Got Nokia 206 and using it for more than 2 months. With the help from the net, I was able to connect the phone to Nokia PC suite via Bluetooth. Still could not transfer the contacts from my Sony Ericsson cedar and did it the hard way using bluetooth. I am facing one more problem now, in the message conversation, it is grouping messages by the mobile number. If a contact has two numbers, then I have two threads of messages for the contact based on the number. Further, the service messages (bank messages, Tatasky etc) are not grouped and shown as individual messages. My cedar used to group all these messages in a single thread for all service messages and single thread is maintained for a contact irrespective of the Nos. in a contact. Any suggestions?.. Thx in advance

Nokia c7 "Smart Dial" or "Contact Search" on Dial ...

Anyone out there? Who can help.... Desperately need help on this.
You know on the dial screen you start hitting the numbers and your Nokia will find the best matching contacts... called the "Smart dial" or "Contacts Search"... My C7 doesn't have that feature.
I have looked at the manual and it says, click options>contact search>off/on ....
Well I don't have such an option in anywhere.
This is really annoying me, I love this feature and that is the only way I am going to manage my 500+ contacts.

I have that feature on my C7-00. Y-day I also updated my phone app to the latest version and the feature is still there. Pressing OPTIONS on the call screen lets me select the Contact Search ON/OFF.
Works very smooth...

E71 Contact search problem

My contact search function on E71 is ok, just that I can't call out 2 entries in contacts.
1) 1Jen
2) BJ
As these 2 names's second character is "J" it is also "#" and the first character are also with numbers. That is why the home screen showed
1) 1#
2) 8#
And it gave me the phone numbers which was the 1st and 8th stored on my SIM card contact.
I used to be able to call them without such problem. Only experience this today.
Does anyone know how to turn off SIM contact reading?

Firstly, open up each contact in turn and select Options>Play voice tag - this will tell you how the phone interprets the name. As you are using abbreviations, the voice recognition system may be interpreting the text strangely.
It is also possible that the problemis caused by the shortness of the name. Often, it is better to have a full name (eg: Marcus de Bruyn) instead of a shorter form (eg: Marc) because when you say a name with more syllables you give the recognition system more data to work with in comparing with your contacts.

Contact Search on nokia E7

Didn't realised it after a few days that my E7 doesnt have a contact search.
I tried the user guide, the onboard help and followed the instruction to the letter.
"In the home screen, open the keyboard, and start entering the contact's first or second
name. You can also search by company name."
I tried that and there is nothing. Tried searching all my menus, options and settings yet I cannot find the elusive contact search
Kindly guide me to the right way to activate the contact search on my E7

To do a contact search without having the contacts shortcut on your homescreen, press call and start typing the contacts name 3283 will produce all the DAVE contacts on your phone, as an alternative tap the icon in the bottom right corner and you are taken into a contacts list which you can scroll through or search. As another alternative use the 'favourite contacts' widget on homescreen and load your favourite contacts to it and swipe through them to find the person you want to call.
As a further alternative, usr the search widget on a homescreen and type in the name you want to find and search my content.
Appologies if this doesn't answer your question as these are the only methods for finding a contact on the E7 that I have discovered so far, hope this helps

Nokia 700 contact synchronization problem

Hello, I've added exchange mail to my phone. And suddenly saw that all my old contacts where replaced with new ones from Exchange. I turned them (new contacts) off from mail settings. Then tried to synchronize phone book, to get contacts from Nokia sync server. But I didn't get anything. So I think that contact were deleted from Nokia server... The question is, can I somehow restore my contacts? Maybe they are versioned on Nokia server? And I can get specific version of them? Please help me.

The Nokia Sync on the phone however continues to work, and it was possible to retrieve my backup this morning.

808 Pureview contact search not working

Hi, i am unable to get contact search to work even after enabling it on the call screen. adaptive search under settings has also been turned on. can someone help?

Try the soft reset and if that does not help, do a hard reset. But remember to back up your device with Nokia suite.
Hard Reset:
Once backed up, enter *#7370# and when prompted, enter 12345 as the default passcode.

Security code - Nokia 206 Dual SIM

Hello,
I'm having trouble with my Nokia 206 Dual SIM mobile.
My kid changed the security code, and now she can't remember what it is. I've searched the manual, support sections and forums, but most of the solutions I can find suggest taking the phone to a Nokia Care Centre. Unfortunately, I have no idea where to find one of these near Brisbane.
Another suggested option is to send it by post to Nokia Care Direct, but this seems ridiculously unnecessary for what should be a simple passcode reset, not to mention expensive.
I've already taken it to a Telstra store, a Virgin store and a mobile repair store, but all were left scratching their heads.
In the case of a forgotten iPhone passcode it's easy enough to restore the device, so I'm sure that I must just be missing something glaringly obvious. I don't mind losing my data, but I can't even figure out how to perform a factory reset.
Any help to regain control of my phone will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Microsoft Mobile Community.
Are you trying to reset the phone, but you can't as it's asking for a security code? Or are you unable to access your Asha 206 as it's asking for a security code? In case you've missed @singhnsk's post, the only way to have it fix is to reinstall (flash) its software in Care Points. See: FAQ - I have forgotten the security code for my Asha.
Note: After flashing, all the personal data (contacts, calendar data, etc.) in the phone may be deleted. BTW, the link is intended for the United Arab Emirates. You can visit your local support page for future reference. See below link:
