Nokia 206 internet issue

I'm having problems with the internet on my phone i just opened today. I seem to be connected to the internet, because i can use the xpress browser to load web pages (although it does seem really really slow), but whenever i try to do anything else (update the phone, facebook app, go to the store) it tells me i'm not connected to the internet.
The internet works find on a different phone in the same area with the same sim, I'm not sure whatthe problem is.
Nokia 206 dual sim,
Any help appreciated.

I kind of got the internet working using a few steps from this thread
http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Asha-and-other-Nokia-Series-30/Asha-302-browser-connects-apps-don-t/...
but it's just ridiculously slow to the point where it's pointless using the internet. am i missing something here?

  • Nokia 206 connectivity issue

    Hello.
I recently purchased a Nokia 206, and it's been working without a hitch so far. I have my connectivity options set to "deactivate when roaming" (it's not in English so I'm not sure if that's exactly what it says in English), and the internet/data option would only come up when checking my e-mail or sending/receiving MMS. However, today I opened facebook on my phone, and after I disconnected facebook, the network icon wouldn't disappear from the top of the screen (the upper case E with the square around it). I'm assuming this means I'm connected to the internet, so I tried to turn it off, but the only option available was the "mobile data" option, which I had to disconnect. Now, whenever I want to send or receive MMS, or check my inbox, I have to turn it back on. This is very annoying and different from what it was before, which was fine and dandy.
What can I do to fix this? I don't even have the "packet data/transfer" option where I could just switch it to "always on" or "only when necessary" (which, even when the first option was activated, it wouldn't be connected to the internet, and would only show the upper case E without the square around it).
    Thanks.

Think I fixed it. Facebook notifications were set to activated.

  • Nokia 206 always connected to the internet

    Hallo,
my Nokia 206 connects automatically to the internet and downloads a few kilobytes soon after turning on the phone. It remains connected then although I don't use the internet connection at all. Why is this happening? I am paying a fixed price per kB for internet connection and don't want to pay for each start of the phone. However, I don't want to turn mobile data off since I do use the e-mail and MMS functionality.
    Best,
    Jakub
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hallo once again and thank you very much! The restore settings tip actually solved the problem!
It's funny because I've tried restoring the phone once before already with no luck, but I likely messed with Viber afterwards again that time. The phone now appears to connect just when I need it (checking mail & MMS) and I hope it keeps this behaviour for its entire lifetime.
Thanks again to everyone for their responses!

  • Nokia 206 UPDATE AND CONNECTION ISSUE.. CERTIFIC...

This is my first asha and it is giving me problems.  cant connect to the nokia account or the update site.  says "CERTIFICATE NOT VALID ACCORDING TO PHONES DATE"  WHAT IS THIS......??VERY FURSTRATING... IF SOME BODY CAN GUIDE ME TO A SOLUTION, MUCH APPRECIATED..... THANKS A TON...

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
If the error Certificate not valid appeared, you need to check these two information:
    1. Check that the current date, time and time zone in your Nokia 206 are correct.
    2. Check that your device has also a latest software installed. Make sure you have an active and stable internet connection when you do this. To verify if there's an available phone's update, go to Settings, select Phone and then Device updates. You may then select Download phone software.
If you're done with that, try to connect to your Nokia account and see if it's still the same.

  • Nokia 206 does not turn on after update

    Hi
    Just got a Nokia 206
Updated the software. Itupdated and restarted fine
Then I checked for updates again, and it updated a second time
Everything went fine, and the phone restarted. It said "Update Successful" or something like that
I remember that the SW version was from May 2013 (first update was MArch 2013 I believe)
I tried to update a 3rd time and it said that there were not more update availabale
    I was happy !
I checked that internet worked, sent an email, everything worked fine
Then I turned off the mobile to try another SIM card, but when tunring it on, the screen goes black, then "NOKIA" is displayed on the screen for few sec, then the phone turns off
    I tried to :
    _ different SIM cards
    _ using 1, 2 or 0 SIM cards
_ holding power button up to 10 - 15 sec (hopping it will do some reset)
_ tried to find a hard reset button, but did not find...
So basically, the phone is not turning on. Only "NOKIA" is written for few sec, then phone turns off again
The phone is un-usable as such
Please Nokia, what should I do to fix that ?
    Regards
    Bastien

when I plug the power supply, the charging icone shows up
When I try to start the phone then, the screen gets all white for less than a second, then black for 1 to 2 seconds, then all white for less than a sec again, then turns off
When I press again, it goes back to the charging icon (the white and orange battery charging)
Also, I forgot to mention that sometimes, it does not do the short vibration it used to do when trying to turn on

Have you tried both sim cards on single mode? This purpose is to isolate what is causing the issue.

    Rustik,
Hi, I'm also in Chad and also have a brand new Nokia N96, and getting the same error "Packet data connection not available" when I'm trying to connect to internet.td.zain.com GPRS access point.
This is not a problem with the SIM Card or service activation, because I went to customer service today and they checked my phone subscription and everything was okay, and then I tried by SIM Card on a Nokia N95 8GB and internet worked fine.
I put another SIM card on my phone, still same error, deleted all access points, recreating again and again, still doesn't work, technician and local operator Zain could not get it working neither.
Is this some kind of bug in Nokia N96 firmware? I'm using the latest one from December 2008.

  • 10.3.9 Internet issues

    Hi All
i have been trawling through the fourms and still cannot find a solution to my iMac internet issues. I have done a complete format and reinstall of Mac OS X 10.3.9 (to be fair i downloaded update on another computer and instelled via USB stick) everything works great can import into firewire from camcorder etc. Airport card can see the wireless connection but when i enter the password it states there is a problem and connot connect. I have tried everying (to what i can understand anyway) and teh main reason for a clean install was to get rid of any possible conflicts that may have been there.
everything else can use the internet including my MacBook (intel) fine. Some one did suggest once that DNS settings were not correct which to be honest i did not userstand how to alter them, plus if eberying else was ok why just this iMac playing up.
Please can you assist just want to this to connect so my son can upload his filming to pleople for his re school assignments.
    thank you in advance
    Peter

    Oops!
Could you specify what iMac you have, the specs of the system & computer,
as that may help research or find workable ideas for you to try. This would
help in troubleshooting, or in discovering Support articles to link you to in
    the course of a discussion.
I just re-read your post and had thought it was for a later
mac + OS X that would not run in PowerPC vintage!
(The mention of MacBook threw me off, as did a recent newer
OS X upgrade that may run -- in that newer hardware 10.9.3)
    So you've upgraded a PowerPC iMacG4 to Leopard 10.3.9
and the internet doesn't work? The wireless router may be
using a different security protcol than the old Airport Card
can support; you may have to test the unit via Ethernet to
be sure the computer itself is fully updated. It may go to
Apple servers to look for Software Updates.
The settings for the wireless security may be incorrect,
since later WPA2, won't apply to vintage AirPort card.
With a later OS X such as Tiger 10.4(.11) the odds do
improve for connectivity to the internet.
The DNS settings should not be an issue if you can use the
internet with a recent version computer and later OS X.
Not sure how to help, except to try as a test, to run without
the security you'd really want with the wi-fi (WPA2, etc)
turned on, to see if the old iMac can then use it.
Another issue would be the lack of correct frequency; a
newer Wi-Fi system may not be set to be backward
compatible to 802.11a/b, newer ones use 802.11/b/g/n/+
You may check to see if the router has a setting to allow
use of lower or older spec connection.

  • Nokia 206 Medial player not working properly.

    Dear all members,
I have recenlty purchased a nokia 206 dual sim mobile.  Some features in the phone are very good, but video player has some problems.   If i play mp4 converted file 320*240 15fps file, it shows "this file could not play well in your phone".  I tried to reduce the 320*240 10fps, but the same msg again coming.  Also the streaming video and audio at the middle of the file not matching.  The audio is going faster than video streaming.  Is it medial player problem or phone problem?.  Also with youtube videos online also if lenghty files played same thing happed.  Please help me about this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

@_m3gz4_ no, I cannot recommend any other video player, because the media player in a Nokia Series 40 is highly optimized because it is written in the native programming language of that platform. Therefore, I would like to go one step backwards: Did you try MPEG-4 Simple-Profile encoded media as well? Did you consider to go for another mobile phone with a faster processor (CPU) and/or a dedicated graphics processor (GPU)? If you go for a used Nokia 700 for example, you would be surprised by the difference.

  • Nokia 206 - Send message to nokia - charged £1

Got new Nokia 206, inserted sim powered up got a message saying need to send message to Nokia and may be charged (no idea what is in the message), checked PAYG balance and I have been charged £1 for the privelige = not happy.
Is this a subsidy to nokia? in order to use the phone we need you to send a premium rate SMS?
Can anyone elaborate what this message was (not saved in sent messages) and why Nokia are sending to premium rate number?

Well its just an activation message which helps Nokia in activating the warranty of your phone and other services such as Nokia Life.
But that's optional, it also tells you that premium sms rates will apply. So its your mistake if you didn't read it properly and continued.
Make sure you don't do that the next time. Skip it if it asks your permission to send an sms. Anyways, it won't bother you anymore

  • Security code - Nokia 206 Dual SIM

    Hello,
I'm having trouble with my Nokia 206 Dual SIM mobile.
My kid changed the security code, and now she can't remember what it is.  I've searched the manual, support sections and forums, but most of the solutions I can find suggest taking the phone to a Nokia Care Centre.  Unfortunately, I have no idea where to find one of these near Brisbane.
Another suggested option is to send it by post to Nokia Care Direct, but this seems ridiculously unnecessary for what should be a simple passcode reset, not to mention expensive.
I've already taken it to a Telstra store, a Virgin store and a mobile repair store, but all were left scratching their heads.
In the case of a forgotten iPhone passcode it's easy enough to restore the device, so I'm sure that I must just be missing something glaringly obvious.  I don't mind losing my data, but I can't even figure out how to perform a factory reset.
Any help to regain control of my phone will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Raj

    Hi Dveterant_1,
Welcome to the Microsoft Mobile Community.
Are you trying to reset the phone, but you can't as it's asking for a security code? Or are you unable to access your Asha 206 as it's asking for a security code? In case you've missed @singhnsk's post, the only way to have it fix is to reinstall (flash) its software in Care Points. See: FAQ - I have forgotten the security code for my Asha.
Note: After flashing, all the personal data (contacts, calendar data, etc.) in the phone may be deleted. BTW, the link is intended for the United Arab Emirates. You can visit your local support page for future reference. See below link:

    Hope this helps.

  • Nokia 206 OS and iSync

The S40 platform is devided into several editions, with several service packs etc. Nokia 206 OS is according to the product page "S40 SPR10.4".
You should give the OS specification in a more uniform way, because there is no way to know if this OS is ver. 5 (former Symbian 1) as it seems to be after some searching. But which subcategory?
I need to know, because I am going to make iSync work with it, this way: http://macamour.com/blog/2011/04/23/7-easy-steps-to-make-any-nokia-series-40-sync-with-isync-in/
"Search for series40 and find a phone with the same edition as yours."
The problem is that I should know which previously released Nokia phone is the closest match to the 206.

Nokia does not have any support for Mac.
Nokia has very good support for Mac users, in general:
    http://www.nokia.com/mac
If they don't have an iSync plugin for your phone, try this Google search:

  • Nokia 206 conversation problems(threaded)

    Guys
Got Nokia 206 and using it for more than 2 months. With the help from the net, I was able to connect the phone to Nokia PC suite via Bluetooth. Still could not transfer the contacts from my Sony Ericsson cedar and did it the hard way using bluetooth. I am facing one more problem now, in the message conversation, it is grouping messages by the mobile number. If a contact has two numbers, then I have two threads of messages for the contact based on the number. Further, the service messages (bank messages, Tatasky etc) are not grouped and shown as individual messages. My cedar used to group all these messages in a single thread  for all service messages and single thread is maintained for a contact irrespective of the Nos. in a contact. Any suggestions?.. Thx in advance
    Regards

update: i did go back to the shop and i got a new one who really works.
