Nokia 206 OS and iSync

The S40 platform is devided into several editions, with several service packs etc. Nokia 206 OS is according to the product page "S40 SPR10.4".
You should give the OS specification in a more uniform way, because there is no way to know if this OS is ver. 5 (former Symbian 1) as it seems to be after some searching. But which subcategory?
I need to know, because I am going to make iSync work with it, this way: http://macamour.com/blog/2011/04/23/7-easy-steps-to-make-any-nokia-series-40-sync-with-isync-in/
"Search for series40 and find a phone with the same edition as yours."
The problem is that I should know which previously released Nokia phone is the closest match to the 206.

Nokia does not have any support for Mac.
Nokia has very good support for Mac users, in general:

If they don't have an iSync plugin for your phone, try this Google search:

  • Nokia Mural (6750) and isync

I've been looking and can't find: Is it possible to sync Ical with my Nokia 6750? I know I"ll have to get a compatible usb cable, but before I buy that, can it be done? Thanks.
    Judy

After pairing your Nokia via BlueTooth... start iSync... go to Devices > Add Device while iSync is the active (front most app). You probably already know this...
One anomaly that I have noticed (even with my last Motorola cell phone and iSync) is that sometimes phone numbers, events, etc. will not be deleted when synced again (maybe just me).
If this happens... or if iSync says that your memory is full and that it can not add all of your events... then (after deselecting some of your calendar boxes in iCal, or creating a smaller group phone list in Address Book) I have found that (while iSync is front most app) if you go to the menu bar and select Devices > Reset All Devices... iSync will _erase/reformat_ your Nokia and then only add the newly selected items. And you can continue to trial/error this until you reduce the number of phone numbers and calendar events to fit on the memory card in your Nokia.
    Hope this helps.

  • Nokia 3120 Classic and iSync

    Dear all,
I have a Nokia 3120 Classic and a fresh new MacBook Pro 2010.
I need to syncronize the contacts between the mobile phone and OsX. I tried with iSync, but the program said the mobile phone is not compatible. How can I solve this problem? Nokia does not have any support for Mac.
    Thank you, kind regards.

This is my first asha and it is giving me problems.  cant connect to the nokia account or the update site.  says "CERTIFICATE NOT VALID ACCORDING TO PHONES DATE"  WHAT IS THIS......??VERY FURSTRATING... IF SOME BODY CAN GUIDE ME TO A SOLUTION, MUCH APPRECIATED..... THANKS A TON...

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
If the error Certificate not valid appeared, you need to check these two information:
    1. Check that the current date, time and time zone in your Nokia 206 are correct.
    2. Check that your device has also a latest software installed. Make sure you have an active and stable internet connection when you do this. To verify if there's an available phone's update, go to Settings, select Phone and then Device updates. You may then select Download phone software.
If you're done with that, try to connect to your Nokia account and see if it's still the same.

  • Nokia 6220 Classic and iSync?

I'm trying to get iSync (v.2.0) to recognize my Nokia 6220 Classic phone. But it won't. I've tried downloading the Nokia iSync plug-in from their website, but each time I try to intsall the package, it says
"You cannot install the phoen plug-in on this vlume. Plaese upgrade to the latest evrsion of iSync using Software Update".
However, running Software Update doesn't find a proprietary update. Nor can I find one...?
    Thank you for any advice.

Move your iSync application back into the main Applications folder. You should never move Apple application from the default locations.

I have syncchronized before succesfully but now I can't. I'm trying to synchronize but information gets only to 93% and stops sending, On the phone a message appears "transfer data impossible.Check connection data" . On the computer "Error produced trying to obtain data from phone. Possibly sync cancelled on the phone". How can I fix this?

    Hi ershovks,
Do have backup of your phone data & PC registries then
Uninstall Nokia PC Suite, Nokia Connectivity cable driver, PC Connectivity solution, Nokia flashing cable driver(if any on your PC), Run PC Suite cleaner. Install latest Nokia PC Suite from nokia.com/pcsuite, reboot your pc. Once pc started, connect your phone with USB in different ports of your PC and check

  • Nokia and iSync

Why do some Nokias work well with iSync and others do not?
In response to a recent post of mine, one respondent said his N91 worked great and another person said his E70 did not work well at all?
    Can anyone explain this discrepancy?

The phone to sync every time I ask it too.
Of course! 99% of the time this should always be the case, and in my experience with Sony Ericsson phones is always the case. It's impossible to guarantee perfect syncing 100% of the time. Like any computer file, data corruption is a (rare) possibility. However, in over 5 years of iSync-ing Sony Ericsson phones, I've only had a few minor issues which I sorted out in a few minutes.
I don't want the hassle of having to pair and unpair and pair again the
handset to the computer to get them to work together.
You should never have to do this. Pairing once is enough. I've personally owned 8 Sony Ericsson handsets and had access to and used dozens more, and only ever had to pair them once on each computer I've used them with.
I expect the calendar interface of the handset to accurately represent what
is represented in iCal. And for it to be easy to enter data in to the handset's
    calendar interface.
Due to the different screen sizes between a phone and a Mac, you'll never get a totally accurate representation of what's in iCal. It just isn't possible on such a small screen. Also, most mobile phones show multiple calendars from iSync on a single calendar in the phone.
However, I find the Calendar in Sony Ericsson phones to be excellent. I've never had any issues, and entering data is as quick and easy as I would expect. Just a few button presses and typing to set-up events.
I want ALL data fields of Address Book to transfer over to the handset.
Name, Company Name, multiple phone numbers, email, postal address, notes.
All the current Sony Ericsson models will sync the following:
    Address Book data:
    First & Last Name
    Mobile Number
    Home Number
    Work Number
    Fax Number
    Other Number
    Home Address
    Work Address
    Home Email Address
    Work Email Address
    Other Email Address
    Website Address
    Birthday
    Address Book Notes
    iCal data:
    Event title/subject
    Event location
    Event start time/duration
    Event date
    Event note/description
    Event alarm
    All day events
    Repeating events
    To-Do title
    To-Do priority
    To-Do completed
    To-Do due date
    To-Do alarm/reminder
    To-Do note
If this is what I expect of iSync which handset should I get?
I would recommend any of the current (non-Symbian) Sony Ericsson models.
From the Apple supported models, the K800i has the best spec (higher-res screen and camera).
Then there are an additional 19 models supported by iSync Phone Plugins from here.
The K800 and K810 have 240x320 resolution screens.
The Contact and Calendar functions are pretty standard across the whole Sony Ericsson range, and all will sync all the data listed above. Some of the lower end models don't differentiate between Home, Work & Other Email Addresses (although it syncs all of them, it just doesn't say which is which!).
Another thing to be aware of is that the fields in the Contact data do have character limits. For instance, Name is limited to 62 characters. Street, City, State, Zip Code. etc are 25 characters each. Web Address is 120 characters.
Personally, I've been using both a K800i and K510i for the past year, and have just got a W610i as my day-to-day phone. Although the W610i is technically lower specification than the K800i, I actually prefer it because its smaller, thinner and not so chunky!
It's also very easy to set-up Sony Ericsson phones as a modem for internet access for your Mac. They play (DRM-free) iTunes tracks no problem, you can use them as a Bluetooth Remote Control for your Mac (see Salling Clicker), and SMS and manage Calls direct from the Mac Address Book on them.

  • Nokia 6620 and iSync

For the past year, I have been syncing my iMac with my Nokia 6620.  Tonight, I get an error message.  The iSync log gives the following:
8:22:02 PM Connecting to Nokia 6620
8:22:02 PM Device “Nokia 6620” connected
8:22:02 PM Receiving changes from “Nokia 6620”.
8:22:03 PM “Nokia 6620” Receiving changes complete
    8:22:03 PM “Nokia 6620” Processing changes…
8:22:18 PM “Nokia 6620” Engine processing complete
8:22:18 PM Applying changes to “Nokia 6620”
8:22:20 PM Error [Nokia 6620] An unexpected error occurred.
8:22:20 PM Error Device “Nokia 6620” synchronization failed.
It appears there is something wrong with the Nokia 6620.  I have reset the phone several times but, I still get the same error message.
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
What you perceive as a problem is actually a feature - a consequence of shifting synchronization of all servers, applications and devices to the SyncService framework. Now, iTunes is configured to interact with the truth database maintained by SyncServices to synchronize iPods, .Mac Sync handles a similar interaction to synchronize with .Mac, and iSync is relegated to handling mobile handsets and Palm handheld organizers and smartphones.
In the same manner, applications like iCal and the Address Book interact with the SyncServices framework, as do many third-party applications like MySync, the Missing Sync for Palm OS, DayLite, and others.
If your mobile handset is not connected via Bluetooth or USB, or iSync is not running when you initiate a synchronization event using the HotSync icon, or the button on your cable or cradle, then your device will not be synchronized until it is 'attached' and iSync is launched. This update occurs because the SyncServices engine is aware that the device exists and was not available during the prior event. As soon as becomes available, the update takes place.
If you want your mobile handset to be simultaneously synchronized when you synchronize your Palm device, then you must do two things:
    • 'attach' it via Bluetooth or USB, and
    • launch iSync prior to initiating the HotSync

  • Nokia 206 does not turn on after update

    Hi
    Just got a Nokia 206
Updated the software. Itupdated and restarted fine
Then I checked for updates again, and it updated a second time
Everything went fine, and the phone restarted. It said "Update Successful" or something like that
I remember that the SW version was from May 2013 (first update was MArch 2013 I believe)
I tried to update a 3rd time and it said that there were not more update availabale
    I was happy !
I checked that internet worked, sent an email, everything worked fine
Then I turned off the mobile to try another SIM card, but when tunring it on, the screen goes black, then "NOKIA" is displayed on the screen for few sec, then the phone turns off
    I tried to :
    _ different SIM cards
    _ using 1, 2 or 0 SIM cards
_ holding power button up to 10 - 15 sec (hopping it will do some reset)
_ tried to find a hard reset button, but did not find...
So basically, the phone is not turning on. Only "NOKIA" is written for few sec, then phone turns off again
The phone is un-usable as such
Please Nokia, what should I do to fix that ?
    Regards
    Bastien

when I plug the power supply, the charging icone shows up
When I try to start the phone then, the screen gets all white for less than a second, then black for 1 to 2 seconds, then all white for less than a sec again, then turns off
When I press again, it goes back to the charging icon (the white and orange battery charging)
Also, I forgot to mention that sometimes, it does not do the short vibration it used to do when trying to turn on

  • Switching to AT&T Cingular - best phone for use with Mac and iSync

    Dear Friends,
I am finally about to be free from Sprint's poor customer service. I will be switching to AT&T / Cingular. (Not quite ready to buy an iPhone, but don't want to be locked into a 2 year contract with another provider).
I want to use Apple's iSync. I have reviewed the list of compatible devices and scanned the forums for related topics.
    I'm still left wondering:
What is the best phone to get with AT&T for use with iSync?
I would like to sync contacts both ways. If possible, syncing cal events and to-dos would be nice, but not as important as contacts.
I prefer small flip phones. I don't plan to buy the Media pack service that includes text, web, etc. Instead, I will use the phone for calls and occassional text messages.
Sound quality and the ease of use are the most important features for me. I prefer raised keys to the flat keypads, but could give on this if need be.
Finally, using the phone as a modem with my laptop would be nice, but is not essential.
Thanks so much for any help you can offer.
    David

I am facing the exact same question regarding, e.g., the Nokia 6126. There are several references:
    1. Go to the Nova Media web site and look at their new product, Fone Link. Or their iSynch Plugins
    2. One of the forum threads references, http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060915154526806
    3. Another link I found http://soapbox.co.nz/past/2007/4/9/nokia-6126-and-isync-revisited/
But what I don't yet understand is whether or not any of these suggestions/solutions are affected by the carrier. My understanding is that the 6126 is the North America Version of the 6131. But I talked to ATT/Cingular support yesterday and they make some modifications to the phone software. They don't know if the ATT 6126 will synch with a Mac. Of course they know the answer if synching with a PC (!!)

  • Nokia 206 Medial player not working properly.

    Dear all members,
I have recenlty purchased a nokia 206 dual sim mobile.  Some features in the phone are very good, but video player has some problems.   If i play mp4 converted file 320*240 15fps file, it shows "this file could not play well in your phone".  I tried to reduce the 320*240 10fps, but the same msg again coming.  Also the streaming video and audio at the middle of the file not matching.  The audio is going faster than video streaming.  Is it medial player problem or phone problem?.  Also with youtube videos online also if lenghty files played same thing happed.  Please help me about this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

@_m3gz4_ no, I cannot recommend any other video player, because the media player in a Nokia Series 40 is highly optimized because it is written in the native programming language of that platform. Therefore, I would like to go one step backwards: Did you try MPEG-4 Simple-Profile encoded media as well? Did you consider to go for another mobile phone with a faster processor (CPU) and/or a dedicated graphics processor (GPU)? If you go for a used Nokia 700 for example, you would be surprised by the difference.

  • Nokia 206 always connected to the internet

    Hallo,
my Nokia 206 connects automatically to the internet and downloads a few kilobytes soon after turning on the phone. It remains connected then although I don't use the internet connection at all. Why is this happening? I am paying a fixed price per kB for internet connection and don't want to pay for each start of the phone. However, I don't want to turn mobile data off since I do use the e-mail and MMS functionality.
    Best,
    Jakub
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hallo once again and thank you very much! The restore settings tip actually solved the problem!
It's funny because I've tried restoring the phone once before already with no luck, but I likely messed with Viber afterwards again that time. The phone now appears to connect just when I need it (checking mail & MMS) and I hope it keeps this behaviour for its entire lifetime.
Thanks again to everyone for their responses!
    Jakub

  • Nokia 206 - Send message to nokia - charged £1

Got new Nokia 206, inserted sim powered up got a message saying need to send message to Nokia and may be charged (no idea what is in the message), checked PAYG balance and I have been charged £1 for the privelige = not happy.
Is this a subsidy to nokia? in order to use the phone we need you to send a premium rate SMS?
Can anyone elaborate what this message was (not saved in sent messages) and why Nokia are sending to premium rate number?

Well its just an activation message which helps Nokia in activating the warranty of your phone and other services such as Nokia Life.
But that's optional, it also tells you that premium sms rates will apply. So its your mistake if you didn't read it properly and continued.
Make sure you don't do that the next time. Skip it if it asks your permission to send an sms. Anyways, it won't bother you anymore
