Nokia 2310 - Insert SIM

Well, after searching this site, I see that others have had a similar problem to this, but my story of how my mobile phone came to show "Insert SIM" only is slightly different. Earlier this afternoon the phone was working fine as I was able to send a text message to a friend. I set the phone down on the kitchen counter and walked away. Periodically, when I would wander back into the kitchen, I would check the time on the phone and see if I had received any messages. It was still working fine. About 2-3 hours goes by and then I pick up the phone to send a text message and am only seeing the error message, Insert SIM. The phone wasn't touched, dropped or mishandled, but no matter how many times I try turning on and off, taking out the battery and removing the SIM card, the phone no longer seems to work. It has been a very humid, rainy day and the windows in the kitchen had been open partially to allow some fresh air in, but the phone was nowhere near the windows. Do I need to get a new handset or does anyone know how to fix this problem?? I've looked in the manual, but no such luck for troubleshooting such an issue.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Nokia 8800 "Insert SIM Card"

As soon as I started using my Nokia 8800 it continuosly came up with "Insert SIM card" even though the SIM is inserted. I tried three different SIM cards and received the same message with each although each SIM works fine with another model.
I took the phone to the nearest Nokia Repair Centre and they told me the phone was fine and it was the SIM that was faulty. I told them I had already tried three different SIM cards and the fault was present on all of them, they asked me to try with a new SIM, I eventually agreed, two hours later it was happening again.
I've heard that almost all Nokia 8800 users experience this fault now and again but with my phone it's happening continuosly.
Does anyone have any idea what causes this???

Nokia 6630 "Insert SIM Card"

I have a Nokia 6630.
It is always on offline mode and it never activates other profiles.
It only accepts one SIM card.
It never accepts any other SIM cards, literally!!
i have tried formatting it (holding call, *, 3) but still no results and still on offline mode.
i believe that it is set and locked to accept only this one sim card and not any other else.
the main problem is, it is not mine and it is my sister's.
and i strongly believe that she made it to a computer shop to have it locked so that she will be the only to use it and no one else.
i have also tried *#7370# but it asks for a lock code which i do not know.
how can i restore all original settings or format it so that it will accept all kinds of SIM cards?

Nokia C7 Insert Sim Card Problem

Hi,
I got my c7 and there are two points I need to discuss
1) after 2 days I have faced insert sim card problem , Please let me know if this can be fixed , how it can be fix or should I contact Nokia SC
has anybody faced this problem before or it it just a clinch in Nokia C7 and needs a software update.

1) Spekar phone is bit/very Dull
2) normal spekar is bit "ok"
I would prefer Nokia 2626 as it has Very good Sound normal and spekar phone.
Free advice : you might want to give second thought.!!!
my porblem STILL persists. Heat problem I dont know but it does when
1) Charging
2) Speaking for more then 10-15 min.( NOT Expected from New phone)
and it heats up and heats up ................you can not keep it near your ear for long.

Nokia 8800 says insert sim

Occasionally, my husband's 8800 will say insert sim - the only way to get rid of it is to reboot the phone. I've tried wiping the contacts on the sim card but this doesn't seem to make any difference
Does this happen to anyone else and does anyone have a fix for this or know how to fix this?

"Insert Sim" Message on 2310

Please help - my phone all of a sudden keeps saying "insert Sim". Is it a problem with the handset or the Sim? I have tried taking it apart i.e. removing battery and SIM and putting it together again but it still says the same thing. It started last night (my baby had got a hold of my phone) and I got it working again, but this morning it won't work at all - please help....

Try your sim card to another phone, or try another sim to that phone just to eliminte the problem. Sim card are easily ruin by static discharge.

Nokia 2310 suddenly displaying numbers only instea...

I was a happy user of a Nokia 2310 for 12 months. It was set to show the caller's name on the screen rather the number, for callers yet registered in the directory.
But suddenly it doesn't do that anymore: only the numbers, I have to look each time to whom the number applies to know who is trying to call me !
Has anybody an idea of what to do in such a case? The only thing I did just before the problem occured is copying all the telephone directory on the Sim card.
When I saw there was a problem, the first thing I did then is erasing the directory from the Sim card then. But nothing changes. I made a factory reset as well without success.
If anybody knows the solution to that, I would be very grateful.

When a callers number is shown instead of the name you had for the caller it usually means that you have the same number on two or more contacts. This can be either in phone memory or sim memory. Go through your phone book and check if this is true.
Another option you might like to try is to set the selected memory for the phonebook (contacts) to either SIM only or Phone only and not SIM and Phone. The fastes option is Phone memory.
My suggestions is to back your contacts up by copying them to the SIM card but you keep the selected memory for the phone book set to Phone only.
On my phone I select this by going :
Menu -> Contacts -> Settings -> Memory in use -> Phone

You don't say where you are, but assuming you are travelling from elsewhere in Europe it will work - so long has he has international roaming activated on his account with O2.

6120 restart after insert SIM card

hello every body,
I have a problem with my 6120 classic, that when I insert SIM card the phone is restart. the phone can work only in offline mode with the SIM inserted or work without the SIM.
I tried to press green button with * with 3 to restart it but I have the same issue.

Does it just have this problem with your sim or all sims?
If it's just your sim ask your network to issue you a new sim card.
If it happens with any sim that you put in your phone then take it to a nokia care point for help.

E51 error- "Insert sim card"

I have an e51 and have a ASDA mobiel sim card. Even when it is, sometimes, it has this white background with a bit at the bottom that says "insert sim card" but there is already a sim card in there.
I tried for ages, but nothing works, wiped all of the installed programs etc, still nothing. The problem doesn't exist when I put the sim card in another phone.
I then switched the sim card to a 3 card and the same thing still happens
Although now, the problem has become worse as the Device refuses to boot. I hold down the power key for ages and the backlight lights up as well as the notification light, but the device doesn't boot.
Can anyone help?

Well, i advise you to do hard reset for your phone as it may be your last thing to do before visiting Nokia Care Center . It might works.
And about contacting Nokia Care Center, each country has one or many of them for technical support, so check your own in the Nokia website related to your country

Insert sim/sim registration failure.

Halo there!
I'm Geophrey,I have a nokia E63 that keeps giving me the ''insert sim card'' alert.The phone may be in a good working condition,but when I take it out of my pockets to check any missed call/messages or even to make any,the 'insert sim!' alert meets my eyes!
I had been watching it:so it begins by asking for PIN even six consecutive times,before going to the offline mode.
Couls somebody help me please??

E71 hangs at random "Insert SIM card" screen

Since updating to 410.21.010, my E71 occasionally shows a "Insert SIM card" message. This is rather odd, as it's not feasible to do so (the battery blocks the slot), and the SIM hasn't had any trouble before. Worse still, when this occurs the phone becomes entirely useless - not only can I not access running apps (and the model doesn't require a SIM for that), I can't even turn it off!
Upon removal of the battery to forcibly restart the phone, it starts just fine, SIM and all - so the card isn't poorly seated or anything like that. Any help would be appreciated!

First make sure sim is seated properly as you said yourself
second Try another sim card, if it works fine with that then you need to replace your sim card, Contact your operator.
and if it fails to operate properly with any other sim card too, then you need to do a Soft Reset:
(BACKUP YOUR DATA MANUALLY, Take out memory card) Dial this code *#7370# Enter your Lock code, Default is 12345.
And if that fails too then you need visit Nokia Care Point in your area.

I have a Nokia 2310 on Vodafone and when I receive text messages from people that are in my contacts the name does not show in the inbox

Sorry you are having problems with your Nokia 2310. It sounds like you may have the numbers saved twice, perhaps on the both the SIM and phone. This means that when you are receiving your messages the phone is confused as to which contact they are from and instead displays the contact number.

E65 - Insert SIM card

My E65 had been working perfectly today, but I loooked at it and it had an 'Insert SIM card' error message. I turned it off, took out the SIM, put it back in, put the battery back in and turned it on. Its now in Offline mode, and every time I try to change its profile, I get the same Insert SIM card message.
I've tried turning it on without the memory card, I've put paper in with the SIM in case the connection was loose, and still the same message.
Any suggestions?

You have already check the connection between sim vard and pins. The next thing you have to do is to find out if the problem is with the sim card or phone. So try your sim card with another phone, try another sim card with your phone.
If the problem is with the sim card then get a replacement from your network. If the problem is with the phone then it bis probably the card reader and you will need to send it back to the Nokia Care Point.

Insert SIM Problem

When I insert any active sim card in my iphone 4, it shows Insert Sim.

Having five phones does not entitle you to special treatment, you get the same level of service as everyone else.
The level of service you have received is pretty much the industry standard and in line with the terms of the warranty (I assume you've actually read it). Very few companies would replace a product thats nearly a year old without first trying to repair it.
If you feel the service is unacceptable contact nokia care in your country as this is the support forum, not the complaints hotline.
