Nokia 2610 Hardlocked

I have a Nokia 2610, which is on Telstra prepaid. I am trying to unlock it so I can change operator, but it seems to be hardlocked as no unlock codes work for it. Not even the unlock code specific to my IMEI works, and that's after calling Telstra and getting the code from them.
What I have done is bought a CA-45 usb data cable, and I can detect my Nokia 2610 through the cable, but I have no software to unlock it with. I have installed Oxygen Phone Manager II, Oxycube and Nokia PC Suite, but none have an option to remove operator locks.
Considering it's an old phone, and there's no Telstra stores nearby, it would cost me more to get it unlocked compared to doing it myself. I have the cable, just not the software to do it with.
I have spent more than enough on phone credit, so I should be entitled to unlock it myself.

first of all before i go on, i must state that also living in Australia and experiencing the wrath of Telstra myself, they suck. never go with them again, unless you live in a remote area and need the coverage from them. talk of unlocking processes is strictly forbidden on these boards, and bear in mind that if you do undertake such activities, you may very well void your warranty. but we cannot provide you any assistance with unlocking your phone, other than what you have already tried. seems strange that the code Telstra provided you with does not work on your phone, it really should. all i can suggest is that because it's such a low-end model, and what cost you $99 or $79 (i'm guessing), to purchase a newer phone with another operator. or purchase an unlocked model. the cost of buying the CA-45 cable could probably have been saved by going to unlock the phone at one of those unofficial shops that always seem to advertise phone unlocking and parts replacement. i know you have spent more than the unlock limit to get the phone unlocked, and i understand your frustration. but what i've stated is probably the only options you have.
please throw some kudos our way, it would mean a lot to us

    Hello all brothers
i have nokia 2610 and data cable CA 46.
please how to install new ringtones and wallpaper to 2610.
which program and software can be need?
    i want to get.
please explain me how to do.
    thanks alot all brothers.

    Hi, winkaung
One of my solutions was to UNINSTALL ANY other software which was NOT working. I've leisurely tried for months to find the right combination of software and cable.
LogoManager Pro Suite then worked easily for me. I have two after-market cables for Nokia 2610. The one marked CA-45 connected so easily for me. (Another has no marking on it and it hasn't worked with anything. Strangely, the software that came with it mentioned LogoManager products and all their software seems to work fine with my CA-45 cable. I discovered by trial and errors.) Their guide does mention using a CA-45 cable.

  • Nokia 2610-How do I know if the battery is fully c...

Just got a Nokia 2610 phone.
Plugged the charger in, and it's charging, but how do I know if it's fully charged?
The battery symbol is still empty, but there are lines going up/down the screen (like a battery/or reception symbol)
Is there any indication that the phone is fully charged with the 2610? Or how long should I charge it for..etc.
Anyone info, or insight would be great, Thanks!

  • Nokia 2610 Connection Problem

Hello and thank you in advance,
Earlier today I got a Nokia 2610 along with a new AT&T cell phone plan. I just went to the AT&T MediaMall to get my old ring tone 'Must Have Done Something Right' by Relient K back. I input my number, etc and it sent my phone a message and the middle phone button said 'Retrieve'. I clicked Retrieve and I got an error saying "Packet data connection not available". How can I fix this so I can download the ring tone? Also, if I use the MediaMall to send it again since I don't know how to find the old message with it, will it charge me again, or does it only charge once the song is received?

Could someone please help me? I really don't want a ring tone I didn't receive to end up on my bill.

  • Nokia 2610

My nokia 2610's menu button will not work, while all others do. I have cleaned it, turned it on and off, etc. I have determined it has nothing to do with the plastic buttons, but the actual keypad underneath. It will at times work for days or weeks at a time, but this week it will only work for a few minutes, and then i will go hours and days w/o having access to the menu. I use this phone primarily for texting, so this presents a problem. I'm in AIT in the army, so I have no way to go to a provider and get it looked at, or even buy a new phone for at least a month. This is really the only way I can talk to my family until christmas....please help.

    Hi 7777777
I know the plugs look the same but I think you need an HF-8 to be compatible with your 2610 unfortunately:http://www.blueunplugged.com/p.aspx?p=114934#moreinfo

  • Nokia 2610 REALLY BAD THING

I've got nokia 2610 with v06.70 When I dropped it to ground, I picked it up and there was a little car icon there. And now, when I try to call, the person who I'm calling to hears me. But I can't hear the other person! He hears me, but I can't hear him! PLEASEEEE HELP!

Sounds like your phone might think it's connected to a car kit through the headphone jack. Check the settings. If it is off, try to alternate to on and then off again to see if it goes away.
Try also to turn off your phone, pull out battery and leave it out for 1 min. Put it back again and turn it on.
It might also be that your phone has suffered from such damage that it will be stuck on that function, however this might be caused by dust too, but from happening right after it was dropped on the ground it might be that some circuits are damaged. In that case only a Nokia care point can help you, but this won't be covered by warranty - and it's likely that a repair on this phone would cost the same as getting a new phone in the same league.
However you could try to connect a pari of headphones and take them out again to see if you can trick it back to normal.
Cleaning the jack with compressed air could also be an option, but I've seen a few notes from users who believe that this can make it worse as there could be a chance in blowing the dust further inside the phone.
As a last option, you could try to revert to factory deafult to see if that helps.

  • Nokia 5230 Hardlocked sim

    Hi all
I am new here and its the first time I am writing a post so if I am at the wrong section please forgive me.
I have recently purchased a nokia 5230 nuron from eBay and at the site it said that the phone was unlocked but it wasn't. It was giving me the massage of an invalid sim card so I emailed the guy and he gave me some unlock codes to do it. I have tried them and nothing happend so I google a few stuff and found out that I hardlocked the phone and now it might be unusable. Is there any help that you can provide me with or the phone is useless now?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

As Scooby said early, the Nokia Care Point can reset the counter giving you 3 more attempts to enter your code. What they won't do is to unlock it for you or give you te unlock code. You will still need to get the unlock code from the network it is locked to. Since your phone is from Spain, chances are it is locked to a Spanish network. Proof of ownership is going to be difficult as you are not the original owner and do not have the original receipt. You could ask the seller for the receipt or better still the unlock codes but chances are if they had access to either, the phone would already be unlocked.
My advice would be to return it to seller for a refund because the item is not as described.

  • Nokia 2610 Screen Blacks Out

could someone please let me know how to stop my 2610 screen "going black" after about 25 seconds. It seems to be a sort of power / screen saver mode.

I have the same problem and have set the both power saver and sleep mode off, but still the screen blacks out.
    Any real solution ?
    Thanks
I think thats the power save mode which is a builtin feature of this phone, i have a nokia 2626 but it doesnt seem to have this. maybe if a firmware update can take care of this issue
the conenctivity of 2610 is fine but 2626 isnt connecting either by Nokia pc suite or Mobimb 3.2

  • How to reformat Nokia 2610?

Nokia has a FAQ that applies to the 2610 saying that a reformat process will remove all personal information from the phone, but then it does not say how to do the reformat!  The User Guide does not say how either.  A general search on the web indicates that Green Dial key + * + 3 + Power will do the job, holding the three keys until "Formatting" appears on the screen.  But this phone does not seem to respond to that.  It is a T-Mobile To Go (prepaid) phone, if that matters.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It is not possible to reformat a basic phone like the 2610.  The only options are the reset to defaults in the settings menu or by asking a nokia care point to fully reset it (by flashing it's firmware).

  • Nokia 2610 screen control

    Hello,
I try to turn off "power saver" or "sleep mode", but the screen always go black and its not possible to see anything at daylight.
How I can manage the screen to have visible information (clock) on the screen when the phone is in sleep mode?
    Thanks.

Just bought 2610 today and this baffled me. However, I think it has something to do with the screen saver setting. Turn it on, and specify analogue clock etc. You may have to toggle with power save / sleep modes to finally crack it.
p.s. Nokia: half of this stuff isn't in the instructions book.

  • Nokia 2610, Turning off/blocking online access on ...

    Hello,
I am sick of topping up my sons 2610 PAYG after he has been on the T-zones areas, is it possible to block his access to these facilities?
While I'm here, can I limit his calls/messages to the names I've added as contacts?  Or to set the phone to make calls and text only.
Sorry new to nokia, I was hoping the user guide/instructions would cover it, no such luck.
    Max

Just had a quick look at the 2610 manual. It is a very basic phone and doesn't seem to have any call barring functions. You could however check with your network to see if there are any network barring functions available to you.
Personally I would take it back and give him one of these phones.

  • Nokia 2610 increase duration of screen light

Is there a way to make phone light shine longer after I press the key? Phone software automatically turns it off after only a few seconds.

The light goes dimmer because of the Light-Sensor. After the phone boots-up it starts reading the information from the sensor and regulates the intensity of the lightning. Go to Tools -> Settings -> General -> Personalisation -> Display and set the 'Light sensor' slider to the rightmost position in order to brighten up the display.

  • Question-Nokia 2610 SIMM card will fit in........?...

My GF has a pay as you go-Mobile 2610 I bought her. I'd like to find another phone that's T-Mobile and might be able to adjust the sound better so she can hear. She refuses to use an ear bud so that's not an option.
I changed out my Moto V300 for a V195s without a camera (Workplace rules, no cameras) and as a bonus it turns up loud enough she can hear. But with pay as you go she's running down MY minutes and I need it for work calling me in.
I've been unemployed mostly for over a year but if I knew a better phone the SIMM card would fit in I could buy one off Ebay.
Phone stores and T-Mobile are useless. Their motivation is to sell you a new contract or a expensive brand new phone, not replace the ancient model with a used one.
Anyone know what the SIMM from this model will fit in that's also a T-Mobile phone or compatible with the network?
I'm sue there are tons of much nicer, great phones out there but they involve T-Mobile and they want to sign you to another contract or sell you a full retail price phone which I can't afford.  TIA

Sim cards are universal for all phones of whatever brands or models. The only things you have to consider is whether the phone you're buying is locked or not to a particular network.

  • Nokia 2610 message display

When someone sends me a text message, the 'message received' display doesn't stay on the screen so, if I didn't hear the message arriving, I might not realise it was there if I don;t acrtually go to my message screen. How can I ensure a message alert stays on the screen until I open it?
    Thanks!

did anyone ever get to the bottom of this? We just bought one of these phones for my dad... when you 'test' the standard message tone, it plays back at normal volume (i.e. just move away from it, then go back to it in the selection menu), but when you send a message to the phone - it plays the message tone at a much quieter volume. We've got ring volume up to full...
    any help much appreciated...
    Thanks

  • Nokia 2610 local mode????

my mans phone says local mode on front display screen and we cant get it to go away. we cant even turn the phone off without taking out the battery.  my question is what is local mode and how do i turn it off? or is this just simply impossible and we need to get a new phone? I openly admit tha phone is not been treated with the best of care.  He has dropped it off a 15 ft deck on to pavment but it still worked, and he has also gone swiming with it in his pocket, and it again still worked.  but now out of the blue with no damage being added to the phone it started to display the "local Mode" and we cant do anything with it. Is there anyway to solve this problem?

    Well folks,
I bought 7373 only 3 days ago & have experienced a similar problem. My problem occurs when there is no charge in the phone i.e battery is completely dead. When I connect the charger, the phone automatically turns itself to LOCAL MODE. And then, the only way to make the phone operational is by removing & placing the battery again. I got so frustrated that I decided to do something about it by myself.
And I just came to the solution for this by chance :
Instead of trying to charge the phone in the swivel closed condition, try charging the phone in the swivel open condition. That is, whenever your phone is completely dead & the screen is blank, first turn open the swivel & then put the charger jack in the phone. After you see the battery sign that the phone is getting charged, you can close down the swivel.
Hope this helps. It is working fine for me.
    Thanks
