Nokia 2710 plugged in Mac. Help with settings,plea...

Nokia 2710 plugged in Mac. help with settings, please?
When I plug Nokia 2710 in USB in Mac computer OSX 10.6.4, I see 3 options:
1. PC suite
2.Print &media
3. Data storage
My questions are  about option 1. PC suite.
When I select it, I can see in Network Preferences
2 icons for Nokia phone:
Nokia 2710c
and
Nokia 2711
and on the Network Preferences pane there are options to configure them with options to set telephone number, account name and password.
(My Nokia 2710 is connected and works with  mobile phone network Virgin in Australia)
How exactly to set these configurations and how to use them?
And which one to configure  - Nokia 2710c or Nokia  2711?
Thank you in advance  for any practical advise!

Although your 2710 Navigator is a S40 device, here are two resources for you:

http://klauskjeldsen.dk/setup-internet-connection-via-bluetooth-using-nokia-6300-on-mac-os-x/
Probably would try 2710c first and watch out for any capitalisation in VirginInternet
Something at the back of my memory suggests that you may need to create a new location in Network Preferences but I maybe wrong here.

  • New to Mac, Help with Time Machine! Partition External HDD or not?

Hey Guys I'm a new mac user
I need help with  time machine
I wanted to know how time machine works and what all does it back up?
I have 2 hard drives one is of 1TB and one is of 320gb
In the 1TB hard drive i store all my music videos and work stuff it is windows formatted
The 320gb hard drive is mac formatted and I was thinking of making a partition on it one with 250gb for time machine and the remaining 70 gb for mac softwares and files. The ssd of my mac has a capacity of 256gb. I have read for time machine you need at least 2x the space of your ssd on your external hard drive but i don't understand if my ssd is only 256 and can store files worth 256gb why do i need double the space? Secondly if I choose to use the complete 320 gb for time machine will that be okay or even if i choose to partition it to 250gb for time machine will that be fine too? Or will I need to format my 1TB hard disk out of which currently only 300 gb is empty and partition that to 500 gb for time machine?
I'm really confused every tells me to use time machine but do I need it? And what does it exactly do?
Your input will be really appreciate thanks

The reason that you want a partition (or drive) of 2-3 times the size of your boot drive for Time Machine is so that you can keep backups further back than just the current boot drive state - for that you'd need to make a clone of the drive rather than using Time Machine (see -> http://pondini.org/TM/Clones.html).
For more information for backups in general, see -> Most commonly used backup methods.
Note that you can't use Time Machine to backup a Windows partition.
    Good luck,

  • I-mate K-JAM and Nokia E61 Help with settings

    Hi,
I used to be able to conect to my works exchange server with my i-mate. I can not seem to get it right with the Nokia. Could view my e-mails and sync my calender with the i-mate.
Settings in the sync function of the i-mate:
    Server configuration
    Server address - [email protected]
This server requires an encrypted (SLL) conection
    User name
    Password
    Domain
This would then uatomatically sync my calender and e-mail
Can one do the same with an Nokia E61?

I have a K-Jam and love the heck out of it!! I've had several HTC products and found that this has been the best yet. No problems. I highly recommend it.
As for getting it setup with my iBook, that's been a bit of a pain. I can't seem to figure out how to dial to GPRS. Did you accomplish this with your 910? If so, how????? I've got the iBook and K-Jam paired, and it sees it as a bluetooth modem, but I can't figure out how to setup my t-mobile. Any comments would be great!
    Thanks,

  • New to MAC  -help with previous systems folder -this should be an easy one!

My PowerBook G4 (running Leopard) recently crashed due to some corrupt files, per the Genius Bar. I got it up and running with the Leopard upgrade disc as they recommended. Everything went well and on the HD it created a "Previous Systems" folder and everything is in there... (old applications, documents, etc. ... Now what do I do?
Do I just run the applications (iWork, MS Office, Adobe products, etc.) from that "Previous Systems" folder or should I drag and drop them to the new applications folder, or is it better to delete and reinstall all the programs again? And if I have already opened some of the applications from the Previous Systems" folder will this prevent me from moving them.
I just want to clean up my laptop and keep it simple... What is the safe and easy thing to do?
Thanks for all the help... this site is what influenced me to switch from PC to MAC !

  • Can someone help with settings on WRT54G on a bridged modem?

I have a motorola 2210 modem, and I know that in order for you to bridge it, you have to go to 192.168.1.254 and change the PPP settings. Now, can someone who ahs done this walk me throught the modem and router setup in order of what they did. I just tried it, and I ended having to reset my router and my modem because i massively screwed up and lost my internet connection. I tried linksys and I didnt get much, and I tried att and they wouldnt help because of the router. I just need the exact steps to do this.

For Converting the Modem into the Bridge Mode...Check this link.

  • Easy Set UP...help with settings.

Hello.... If you can help me set up EASY SETUP correctly you'll be my hero!
Hi, I'm using FCE and 3 different types of footage and cannot get the settings right;   exported files are tiny, have big letter boxes, etc
Here are the files and types:
    #1:
    Dimentions:  1920 x 1080
    Apple Intermediate Codec, Linear PCM
    ColorProfile    HD (1-1-1)
    Bit rate:   86,137
    #2   (kodak zi6)
    Dimentions  1280 x 720
    Codecs   H.264,ACC
    Bit rate, 9,489
    #3
    .MPEG-4
    640 x 480
    Codecs   MPEG-4, AAC
    Bit rate:   6,242
Now...how do I get this thing going to make it work?   (I understand I have different qualities of video..but it's for YOUTUBE so it doesn't have to be cinema ready.   Just good.
Also...do I need to create a new project?  I've done a decent amount of editing and hate the thought of re-doing all of the searching through the files to find the right parts, etc.
    Thanks very much in advance.
    Brad in Denver

    Dunno. Never opened FCE.
Upon ingest, you convert your H.264 and MPEG4 to ProResLT. Set your sequence to ProResLT. The NTSC-sized stuff will be a problem.
Your AIC is not a good idea at all unless you know what to do with it and why you have it. In that case, you want everything converted to AIC and use an AIC sequence.

  • Adding two Airport Express to New Ariport Extreme - need help with settings

First, I have a brand new Airport Extreme (square N one) that is up and working just fine. The SSID is "Unstable Network". Under the Wireless tab...The Wireless mode is currently: "Create a Wireless Network". The "Allow this network to be Extended" box is not checked. Radio Mode is "Automatic". Radio Channel Selection is set to "Automatic". What do these need to be changed to?
2nd: I have an older Aiport Express that I used to use for itunes and a receiver. I want to add this to my Airport Extreme Network to extend the wireless network to the basement and stream itunes to my remote receiver. I can see this Airport Express using Airport Utility. The SSID of this Airport Express is "Unstable Network Extender". Under the wireless tab....Wireless mode is set to "Join a Wireless Network" The network it is assigned to is my Airport Extreme SSID "Unstable Network". It shows up as IP address 10.0.1.6. What should these setting be to both extend the network and allow itunes to stream?
3rd: I have a second Airport Express that I would like to plug in at a remote end of my house on the second floor to extend my network even further. It is currently hardwired and I can see it in Airport Utility. The SSID is "Unstable Network Extender 2". The setting are the same as the other Airport Express. It shows up as IP address 10.0.1.13. What should they be to extend the network.
Thank you in advance to anyone that can clearly spell out what my setting should be. I am non-technical for the most part, but was technical enough to set up my Airport Extreme but can't figure out how to extend everything.

Since you will have a mix (802.11g/802.11n) AirPorts, and that you want to "daisy" chain the two AirPort Express Base Stations (AX) to extend the wireless network, you will need to configure the three of them for a static Wireless Distribution System (WDS).
Here are the basic steps to do so:
(Note: To facilitate the WDS set up, place the base stations within near proximity of each other during the set up phase, and then relocate them to their desired locations when complete. In this case, I suggest that you temporarily connect both AXs to the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) by Ethernet. Also, jot down the AirPort IDs (MAC addresses) for each of the base stations to be used in the WDS. The AirPort ID and is printed on the label on the bottom/side of the base station.) Finally, I strongly suggest that you perform a "hard" reset on the AEBSn and "factory default" resets on the AXs to get them back to their original "out-of-the-box" configurations before you start.)
    For reference in this setup:
o AEBSn = main base station
    o AX#1 = relay base station
    o AX#2 = remote base station
Main Base Station Setup - AEBSn
o On the Mac click the AirPort status menu in the menu bar and choose the wireless network created by AEBSn.
o Open AirPort Utility (located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Macintosh computer, or in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows).
o Select the AEBSn, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu.
o Click Wireless in the toolbar, and then, choose “Participate in a WDS network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu. (Note: You may have to hold down the <Option> key before making this selection to get the WDS option.)
o Click WDS, and then, choose “WDS main” from the WDS Mode pop-up menu.
o Select the “Allow wireless clients” checkbox if you want client computer to connect to this base station.
o Click the Add "+" button and enter the AirPort ID of the relay base station - AX#1.
o Click Update to send the new settings to the base stations in the WDS.
Relay Base Station Setup - AX#1
o In the AirPort Utility select AX#1, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu.
o Click AirPort in the toolbar and click Wireless. Choose “Participate in a WDS network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and choose the same channel as the AEBSn from the Channel pop-up menu.
o Click WDS and choose “WDS relay” from the WDS Mode pop-up menu.
o Enter the AirPort ID of the AEBSn in the Main AirPort ID field.
o Click the Add "+" button and enter the AirPort ID of AX#2.
o Click Update to transfer the new WDS settings to the relay and remote base stations.
Remote Base Station Setup - AX#2
o In the AirPort Utility select AX#2, and then, choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu.
o Click AirPort in the toolbar and click Wireless. Choose “Participate in a WDS network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and choose the same channel as the AEBSn from the Channel pop-up menu.
o Click WDS and choose “WDS remote” from the pop-up menu.
o Enter the AirPort ID of the AEBSn in the WDS Main field.
o Click Update to transfer the settings to the base station.

  • Help with settings on Mem Dividers K8N Diamond Plus

I am Trying to figure out what the exact setting differences would be on the memory dividers for this board. I have good memory that will run about as high as 275bus (ddr550 speeds maybe a bit more @ 2.5-3-3-8) TCCD based @ 2.65vdimm and my CPU can do 3ghz on water with HTT @300 x10.
The mem divider settings are as follows.
    1/2
    2/3
    5/6
    5/4
    1/1
I understand the 1/1 as that is simple. But (sorry for the noob questions here) what is the formulation or mhz or % settings for the others. I would like to be able to calculate them please. Any help would be great here Thanks ahead of time
Also on my list of learning is the HTT/LDT. Ive seen the settings in what looks to be 200,400,600,800,1000. There are 3 different places. is their a specific one I need to change to get my LDT/HTT down in the 1000 and under range. Do I have to change all 3? also the 16 up and 16down what do they do prospectively as well for this and is it a setting I should worry about? I'm new to some overclocking read about all the guides here and abroad posted on line. But for some reason not many go into the details of what settings are what. I used to be on a K8N Neo2 Platinum and not the same settings there as on this board. So its like a new learning curve.
Again Thanks for all and any help you can give to a new guy here at the MSI forums and somewhat new to overclocking.

PS the rig is I am using is in my Sig.

edit: The amd calc shows memory freq instead of dividers. The 166 divider would be the same as 5/6 in the bios, the 133 divider would be the same as 2/3 etc... basically the bios shows it as fractions of the htt or fsb speed. As an example with the fsb at 200mhz and the memory set to 5/6 would yield a ram speed of 166mhz. Using the 5/4 divider would run the ram at a higher speed than the fsb..I hope this makes some sense to you :D

  • Need help with settings for Xbox360

Real quick, I need to know how to set the router for 2 xbox360's with open nat...I have looked all over and have done the MTU and UPnP tricks but want to do port triggering but am not sure how to set applications or static IP...if needed.  Thanks for all the help.

A known issue with Linksys routers is the NAT Type 3 or anything related to dropping of Internet connectivity during play time.  Network Address Translation (NAT) is the ability of a router or firewall to translate a public IP address to a private IP address and vice versa.  It adds security to the network by keeping the private IP addresses hidden from the outside world.

  • Newbie to Mac - help with root account?

I recently bought a used Macbook Pro from someone which is running the latest OS 10.6.2. This is my first Mac (I'm a former Windows guy), and didn't think to check if they set a root password. There was not a password on the admin account. When I type su, it prompts for a password, but I don't know what it is. I'm unable to get in contact with the person I purchased the machine from, and they didn't give me the original CDs.
    1) How do I tell is root IS enabled or not?
    2) If it is, is there a way to disable/remove it as Admin?
I've tried following the directions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1528 but I don't see the edit button it is referring to in the instructions. Any assistance is appreciated. Here's the instructions I was trying to follow.
How to disable the root user
Mac OS X v10.6 and later
    1. From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
    2. From the View menu choose Accounts.
    3. Click on the lock and authenticate with an administrator account.
    4. Click Login Options....
    5. Click the "Edit..." button at the bottom right
    6. Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
    7. Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
    8. Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
    9. Choose Disable Root User from the Edit menu.

    Hi
You're in the wrong forum. You should be here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=263
+"How do I tell if root is enabled or not?"+
On the Client OS root is not enabled by default and it does not have a password set either. For the sudo or su command to work you will need to define a password for root.
What is it about the instructions you don't understand?
Select System Preferences from the Apple Menu, click on Accounts, click on Login Options, click Join, click the Open Directory button. The Directory Utility program should now launch. Click the lock in the bottom left hand corner and authenticate using the name and password of the admin account you already have. If there is no password set for that account just click OK. In the Menu Bar for that utility/application you should see an Edit Menu. It will be between the File and Window Menus. Click on the Menu and 3rd from bottom what do you see?
You could also enable root by using passwd from the command line:
    passwd root
The rest should be fairly obvious from there?
    Tony
