With regard to modem issue, can you tell us more what's the exact concern? Do you encounter any error message? Are you using Nokia Suite or Nokia PC Suite to do this?
When you send messages or connect to the internet, Nokia Suite uses the SIM card that is in the internal SIM card holder of the phone. This card goes by the name of SIM1, unless you have renamed it. To send a message or create an internet connection with the other SIM card, swap the SIM cards in your phone.
    Hope this helps.

  • Deleted CDMA USB Modem from Port Configurations... Can't get it back!

A while back, I was trying out a wireless USB CDMA modem. I didn't really like it and was mainly just using it for testing purposes, and after I was done with it I deleted the port configuration out of my Network Config, thinking A) I'd never need it again and B) It would repopulate or at least be able to be recreated if I wanted to use it again.
Well, this weekend I'm out of town in an area where I don't have an internet connection regularly and need the ability to connect without relying on WIFI. So I reactivated the USB modem and went on my way. As soon as I put the card in, though, nothing happens. Normally the card would automatically detect and even open up its own connection software in the title bar. This time, nothing. So I boot into Windows and test it out there: works fine. Detects, connects, loads webpages, everything. So it's not the card.
I go back into OS X and see if there's anyway to manually add it. I check in System Profiler, and sure enough, under USB the card is recognized. Not in modems, though, but I can't remember if it populated there before. Anyway, I go into Network Config, try to add a port, but the only things available are the typical Ethernet, Airport, Bluetooth, etc. No USB, no CDMA modem, nothing I need.
So what I'm thinking is, when I deleted the old CDMA modem setting in Network Port Configs, its pretty much permanently deleted it. My question is, is there any way for me to manually get it back? I really could use the benefit of this card at the moment.
    Thanks for any help,
    Bryan

I had not heard of that brand. Out here we get a lot of stuff from China and Korea.
After I wrote that last night, I had a closer look at my settings and the CDMA modem I have is shown in the Network Configurations panel -- yours is not, you say.
Sorry, if I was not clear about the point concerning Bluetooth. That panel provides a list of ALL modem drivers, so I was suggesting that you had a look in there, in case there might be a suitable modem driver you could use.
I had two of these modems (one was stolen) the first used that Null modem driver while the other used a Huawei driver that I had to work hard to make the local company find.
I just looked at the Franklin Support pages and as you say, they do not appear to have a driver listed for Macs, only the user guide.
As a late thought, and not wishing to sound funny at all: have you tried the other USB port? With one of the CDMA modems I had it would work perfectly in one port but in the other the computer never recognised it.

  • Nokia 6120 Classic USB Modem is not working proper...

    Hello everybody!
Something strange happened last week with my Nokia 6120 Classic (version: 03.83). I regularly use it as a USB modem and last week's Wednesday it stopped working. What the problem really is due to, is hard for me to say precisely.
Using Windows Vista (Business, x64, SP1) "Connect to" function, I have previously connected to using HSDPA, but after last week the following happens:
Starts with "Dialing" then goes to showing status "Verifying user name and password" for less than a second after which Vista informs that "Failed to connect to..." and the phone shows the 3G symbol with dashed arrows below.
    I've tried the following:
    - reinstalling PC Suite (the latest, greatest version)
    - reinstalling the modem drivers (between Nokia USB modem and 6120 USB modem) using the whole reboot thing
    - using another USB port, which doesn't work since Device Manager reports that the driver can't start properly
    - restarting, cold resetting the phone
    - switching to GSM only
    - testing with another computer running SP1
    - removing modem init commands for the Internet connection
Now, the strange thing with the second computer was that everything worked just fine with it. My computer on the other hand didn't work at all!
I've put the modem communication logs from the working computer here:
    http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ah8pw9pjrf55_12g38wqpdt
And the modem communication logs from my non-working computer here:
    http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=ah8pw9pjrf55_11hjcq39g4
What was interesting on my computer is the "NO CARRIER" line which makes no sense to me: why on earth is it starting to check for a carrier signal all of the sudden??
Any tips with this here dilemma would be greatly appreciated.

I tried using a Nokia E90 and connecting to the net using both PC Suite's "Connect to the Internet" and using Windows´ "Connect to" programs. With the E90, I had the same problems: fails at "Verifying user name and password" and the strange looking modem communications log.
What the heck is going on with my Windows installation here? I tried removing the drivers again, repairing PC suite and restarting the computer, but to no avail.

  • CDMA USB Modem Not Working After Mavericks Install

I use my LG VX9100 (Env2) as a CDMA USB internet modem, and it worked fine in Mountain Lion on a Mid 2012 Macbook Air and all other Macs I tried it with.  After upgrading to Mavericks, I am not allowed to initiate a connection because the I get a message of "No SIM" after it tries to initialize from the menubar.  The phone works fine and I have confirmed that all of the settings are the same.  The phone is on Verizon, so the phone has never had a SIM card.  This all worked prior to the Mavericks install, so it appears to be a bug.  Any suggestions of what to try?

Hi, no drivers were required in the past, basically just had to type in the phone number as the account name followed by @vzw3g.com and enter VZW as a password and it would connect right up using the built in cell data of the phone plan.   Only works with dumbphones as far as I know.
So, unless mavericks is subtracting features rather than adding them, the built in drivers should still be there.  I have tested it with 10.6 through 10.8 and settings are accesable via the "Network" PrefPane and it always recognized it from a fresh install of OSX.  The following article suggests that they have been built into OSX since OS 10.2:
    http://www.engadget.com/2005/01/18/how-to-use-your-cdma-cellphone-as-a-usb-modem /
That article was written in 2005 and said that some carriers would need a driver, but I know for sure that more were added since then as I have used built in drivers from 10.6 to 10.8.
Windows may need drivers, but mac has had most CDMA drivers built in for over 10 years now.  The VX9100 uses a generic vendor driver, but OSX had selections for most major cell phone manufacturers built in for any custom requirements.  There just doesn't seem to be a reason to get rid of the feature now.
Given the fact that it does show up in the menubar like it used to shows that the mac can tell that it is a modem and has the drivers there, but they aren't working properly.

  • USB modem in network worked, but accidentaly deleted, and now can't replace it.

I recently succesfully connected a Nokia 6120 cellphone to use as a 3G modem; the last time I used this was in 2009.
The USB connection and network place in my network settings "migrated" to its proper place when I upgraded to Lion this year, and when I tried the Nokia again it worked, connected through USB.
There was a second Nokia network choice on the list in my Network prefs, which I deleted, thinking that it was not necessary. After that deletion, the remaining Nokia setting would not connect the computer to the phone, and of course would provide internet access.
I tried duplicating the old setting, but now I can't select a USB option when configuring it.
All my research indicates that this is due to Lion no longer supporting USB modems. However, my Nokia worked just fine, and the old Network via USB setting was still present in Network preferences, and worked just fine until the deletion of one of the Nokia settings.
Does anyone know of a work-around or a patch that will add USB connectivity to Network preferences in Lion?
BTW... tried connecting through Bluetooth; I can pair the phone to the computer, but it will not make the modem connetion.
Would the bluetooth transfer rate be too slow, anyway?
    Thanks in advance
    Glenn

    Found the problem!
    Check this thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/4028119#4028119
There are, in fact, modem scripts available, and they go into the Library/Modem Scripts folder.
    By deleting the extra configuration, I deleted the old scripts. I downloaded and installed the 3G Nokia scripts from the website shown in the above thread, and my configurations re appeared in Network prefs;
I went one step further; I connected to the internet using the restored configuration, then selected and deleted (using the - at the bottom of the list) while the connection was working. It got rid of the second configuration but kept the valid one. Hopefully, It will still be available when I attempt to connect again.

    Hi,
Listed below is the step by step intructions to configure the Nokia device as a modem to a mac.
    Steps:
Connecting your Mac to the internet is convenient and easy with your a compatible Nokia S60 device. You'll need a Nokia S60 device that supports a 2G or 3G data connection (such as GPRS or HSDPA), a compatible Mac (with the latest OS X), a USB cable for your Nokia device or a Bluetooth-enabled Mac, and a network subscription with your mobile service provider.
To set up your device you'll need to know your operator's Access Point Name (APN) and have the packet data service enabled. For help with this please contact your operator.
In Settings select and open Connection >Select and open Packet data > Select and open Access point >Type in your operator's Access Point Name
Exit Settings. Your device is now ready to be used as a modem for your Mac!
Bluetooth Connection: Pairing between Mac and Device using bluetooth, follow the instruction from here: http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/device-as-a-modem/connect-to-your...
Note: Preferred mode is USB as it much faster than Bluetooth.
Connect the device and then go to System preferences- >Network- >Select Device (Nokia XXX)
Click on Advanced Tab > Modem tab
    - Vendor : Nokia
    -Model:GPRS (GSM/3G)
-Telephone Number: *99***1# (contact your operator to get this settings)
-APN: airtelgprs.com (contact your operator to get this settings)
    CID: 1
Once connected it will be highlighted in green.
    Hopefully this helps.
    Cheers
    Sandy

  • Using C7 as USB-modem under Windows 8.1 - connecti...

    Hello there,
my girl-friend used her C7-00 as a wifi-tethering device until recently when she got her new computer that came with  Windows 8.1.
Because 8.1 does not support WEP-Hotspot, I decided to hook up the phone using USB-cable and Nokia Suite.  The connection goes alright, and she can surf through her C7 for a while, but then after 2 minutes approximately Nokia Suite says the connection has been dropped. This happens every time.  Internet works perfectly on the phone.
Tried solutions: restarting phone, updating software, switching USB-modem mode, checking access-point configuration in Nokia Suite
Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to make this work ?  Otherwise we will have to buy a new smartphone :-(.

    Hi, sennerin.
Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions Forum!
Regarding your concern, Nokia Suite is not compatible with PC which runs Windows 8.1 OS. You can check the compatible Operating System of PC for Nokia Suite here: Nokia Suite. That is the reason why the connection is not that stable when using the phone as an internet modem.

    Please clarify "USB Modem."
Is this a dial-up connection modem?
Is this a wired cable or DSL modem that sits on the desk with a wire running to a USB port on your computer?
Is it a wireless USB adaptor that plugs directly into the USB port?
If a wired cable or DSL modem, a USB connection to a modem seldom plays well with Macs; usually very slow at best. Freestanding modems should have an ethernet port. Use it. Fast and reliable. If your ISP left you a modem with only a USB port, get them to exchange it for one with an ethernet port. Don't take no for an answer.

  • Use Nokia 3110 as a modem...

Hi, can I use my new Nokia 3110 as a modem for my Macbook?..........is that a bluetooth connection or via usb?

I checked the nokia specs, and it comes with bluetooth connectivity.
so hardware wise, you can use that bluetooth connection and use your nokia as a modem. just paired or add that phone to your macbook and select to act as modem.
double check with your phone service provider just to be sure.
    Good Luck.

  • Cannot send faxes w/ Apple USB modem, can you offer some help please?

    Hi,
I am using the Apple USB modem connected to my brand new MacBook and so far could not send any faxes. The modem is working because I was able to receive 1 fax (which I sent to myself from my Nokia 9300i).
The monitor tells me that: dialing... ok, connecting...ok, sending... and then it fails.
On the other side (my Nokia 9300i) the fax is starting to come in but shortly thereafter it stops.
I tried Apple Fax (embbedded in the OS) and also PageSender v.4 with the same results.
Anyone of you can offer any suggestion/help as to why this is happening?
    Thanks

I have always believed that the answer to this is yes, however, I have never had occasion to test it. In the past when we all used dialup it was either/or, because you couldn't fax with the same modem you were using to connect to an ISP at the same time. But since you are configuring internet through one network and faxing through another, it should work. Maybe someone actually doing it will wade in here.
Of course, there are a lot of efax services out there now that let you send and receive faxes through the internet.
