Nokia 301 Limited Contact Memory

Hey every one.
i need some guidence please help.
i visited a site to know the contacts memory of Nokia 301, it show 2000 contacts,

but i could only save 1000 and my phone is showing memory status FULL. how i can access other 1000 ?
(Trasfered contacts form my previuos mobile Nokia C2-01)

It is unclear to me also, if combining more numbers into each contact will free up space on the phone.

Or you could talk to the store and ask if they are willing to exchange the phone for something more suitable - since you bought it under the impression that it had room for the 2000 contacts advertised by Nokia initially.
It is not possible to add more space for contacts.
I hope you get it sorted out, one way or the other.

It's between 500 and 1000 on the phone and whatever your sim holds (probably 250).
Although you have plenty of memory not all of it can be used for contacts.
Smartphones are better for storing 1000's of contacts.

Nokia 301: Supports amounts of contacts

Hi All,
I just bought a Nokia 301 last weekend but I was really dispointed that the phone can't reach it's specification regarding "supports amounts of contact". I tried to transfer my contacts from old phone (E52) to new phone (301) but the transfer stocked at No. 1000 contacts. I tried to call Nokia Taiwan because the max amount of contact should be 2000. Nokia Taiwan explained that "2000" is caculated by the amounts of "phone number" instead of contacts. It is really strange that why it shows memory space of contacts is 100% used when there are 1000 contacts. Why not "999" or "1001" if it is caculated by amounts of phone number.

Sounds like a mistake on Nokia's part while publishing the specs. Else your question isn't practical. If 1000 contacts say it as 100%, its not possible that each one of them contains 2 numbers
Do you have some phone memory free? Just asking in case the contacts are saved on the main phone memory.

Nokia C7 - Changing Contact types???

When you add a new contact it automatically shows it as a mobile number. Is there a way to change this to call it "Home" as some of my contacts have a home number and mobile number but at the moment my C7 will only call them both mobiles and there seems to be no option to change this.
I would be very grateful for any help with this.

I figured out what's the problem There is nothing wrong in your C7 at all ! The thing is : your nokia is saving contacts in your SIM card , which restricts all details what so ever ! In order to be able to save other details , you will have to save your contacts in your phone memory ! More space , more details , almost a unlimited number of contacts unlike in SIM card !
I advice you to save all your contacts in your phone memory and delete all your contacts from your SIM , keep it empty ( if you want ) , and occasionly backup your contacts in order to be on the safe side !
To do that :
1/ We want to make sure you are seeing contacts in the SIM card only :
* Open the contacts list .
* Go to "Options" --> "Settings" .
* Select "Contacts to display" and make sure ONLY "Sim memory" is checked, then press OK and then BACK .
2/ We want to copy all contacts from the SIM card to the memory card :
* Go to "Options" --> "Mark / Unmakr" --> "Mark all" .
* Go to "Options" --> "Copy" , and then select "Phone memory" as it appears .
3/ Now that the contacts have been saved in the phone memory , no need to keep them in the SIM card , so let's delete them from the SIM card [ /!\ SKIP STEP 3 IF YOU DONT WANT TO DELETE THE CONTACTS FROM THE SIM CARD , however I advice you to do so ] :
* Go to "Options" --> "Mark / Unmakr" --> "Mark all" .
* Go to "Options" --> "Delete" , and then select YES .
4/ Now we must select the phone memory as default for contacts :
* Go to "Options" --> "Settings" .
* Select "Contacts to display" and make sure ONLY "Phone memory" is checked, then press OK and then BACK . [ Usually after this step , the phone will automatically do the following step , but here it is just to make sure : ]
* Select "Default saving memory" and make sure ONLY "Phone memory" is checked, then press OK and then BACK .
And that's it you can from now on , save in one contact more than one number ( unlike in SIM ) , you can add as much detail as you like ( unline in SIM ) , you can add a picture to each contact ( unlike in SIM ) , and you have almost a unlimited number of contacts to save ( unlike in SIM ) !
If you have previously saved two numbers for one contacts seperatly ( which would be the case because you have been saving contacts in SIM card ) , you can merge them under one contact by going to "Options" --> "Merge contacts" and selecting what numbers you wanna merge under one contact only .
Please keep me uptodate about this issue and if you solved it or not

Nokia 301 MMS retrieval error

I'm having trouble receiving MMS messages on my Nokia 301; it seems that when people try to send pictures, the error message comes back "message too large." I assume that thiscould be corrected by "auto-adjusting" the pics as they come in, but I'm having trouble finding the option for it in the phone (does it exist?). Searching online has implied it would be a service issue with ATT's limits, but I can receive pictures of the same size just fine on other phones, so there must be a setting on the 301 I have to change. Please help!

The senders are using smartphones, particularly the iPhone 5 and the Nexus 5. I understand that the phone itself may ot be physically capable of handling the large file size, but I know other basic phones are capable of "resizing" the image to allow the less capable device of handling the picture. I was curious if the 301 has this capability somewhere, as I'm been unable to find it.

Nokia 301 Photo Limit

Hi all,
I transfered photos (about 1500 of them) into my nokia 301, but the phone can only show 1000 pictures. Is this the phone's limit? or there is some other way to transfer photos onto the phone?

Hi Musica,
I got a 4GB sd card and the images were saved inside that SD card. the sd card was brand new, so I created a folder called "Images" and loaded all my photos into it.
First, I saved the photo as if it was a normal memory device like the thumb-drive (out of the phone). and when I put it back into the phone, it showed something like "maximum allowable limit, only 1000 photos will be shown".
then, I reformatted my sd card, and put it back to my phone and connect the phone to PC via nokia PC suite, and I "dropped" all my photos into the PC Suite and hence into my phone. the same message i got "maximum allowable limit, only 1000 photos will be shown".
the photos are from my previous phone.

new phone nokia 6102i (warranty replacement)
how connected: ca-42 data cable
the problem:
backed up the old phone fine but when i tried to restore the stuff to new phone only 21 of contacts restored to new phone.
notes:
i re-started the new phone (pc suite told me to)
the logfile for the backup said it backed up the contacts
the logfile for the restore said contacts were not restored
weird stuff: some of the contacts were restored despite what the restore logfile said

are you sure you have all your contacts in old phone in phone memory (not in SIM?)
How many contacts you have alltogether ?

In which month nokia 301 will be released ? Does it have office to read pdf files and Powerpoint + MS Word files ?

The Nokia 301 is released already here in Germany. However, it might take time until it is availble all over the globe, because Nokia does not release a device everywhere at the same time. You would need muc, much more factories at the start, you know.
When it comes to Adobe PDF, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsft Word. No nothing built-in. There are apps on the Nokia Store which add this, however, those are quite limited if you do not convert the files on a computer before. I suggest to go for another Nokia, instead of Series 40, consider a Symbian/S60 device, for example a Nokia C5-00 or Nokia 700.

Transfer app for nokia 301

Hi!
I purchased a nokia 301 device. I would like to transfer my contacts from my old phone, a nokia 700. I would like to install the Transfer app but I do not have a data connection, there is no wifi in this device and of course neither nokia suit nor nokia pc suit recognize nokia 301. So is there a way i could install this app on my phone, so i can transfer my contacts?

eliakwu, scoobyman is right, because Symbian and Series 40 devices offer Bluetooth SyncML (OMA DS). Nokia Transfer is about Windows Phone, Android and iPhone devices because those only offer Bluetooth PBAP.
Another way would be a SyncML service on the Internet, like GMail, because then you can transfer your contacts and with some SyncML services even your calendar items. However, you stated you do not like Internet.

Yes, Nokia Suite does not work, which is confirmed.
PC Suite works after installing the latest Connectivity Driver. Furthermore, do not select the ‘sync and connect’ USB mode because this is PTP. Instead, select the modem mode (USB CDC WMC and ACM). Then, the PC Suite works for several other users on this board. Of course the Map Loader and the Software Updater do not work. Although I am not sure whether the PC Sync feature is enabled. As I do not own a Nokia 310 myself, can anyone else confirm that?

Nokia Suite Support for Nokia 301

Does anyone know what the official Nokia position is regarding Nokia Suite supporting the Noklia 301? I'd like to be able to sync music, install any future firmware upgrades etc etc without needing to use a mobile data connection. If Nolkia aren;t going to upgrade Nokia Suite to support the 301 is there going to be an alternative?

To all members of this board that purchased Nokia 301 Dual SIM here's what you should know.
1. Nokia Suite http://www.nokia.com/nokiasuite is practically useless
You cannot backup your messages and contacts . (see attached screenshot stuck at 50%)
You cannot sync your calendar and contacts to OUTLOOK
You cannot choose what SIM you'll send after you compose SMS at Nokia Suite
You cannot backup your ALL your contacts. There is a feature that you can export to CSV but it's not complete. The numbers that are saved in your phone will not be exported via CSV.
Buttomline. Just use the backup feature of your phone. And save it on your SD card. I'm now looking a buyer of this phone. Perhaps I'll just buy a cheap android phone that I can sync calendars and contacts.

For connecting your phone to PC, you can use Nokia Connectivity cable driver.

I have given my nokia 301 in nokia care hisar,haryana for the charging problem then they said me to take the mobile in 10 days but now 1 month has gone and i do not receive my mobile which is under warranty

When was the last time you contacted the care center and asked for your phone's repair status? What did they tell you? Note that the repair duration may vary depending the complexity of the issue and availability of spare parts needed.

First do a backup.
1) Select Menu > Settings > Sync & backup and from following options.
Create backup - Create a backup of selected data to the memory card.
2) Then do a factory reset: Select Menu > Settings > Rest. factory sett
3) Go back to Menu > Settings > Sync & backup - choose Restore backup.
For full flashing of your device, you may visit a Nokia Care Centre near you.

Nokia 301 Dual SIM flash file or flash theme

Hi nokia,
from bangladesh. Few days ago i bought nokia 301 dual sim phone. Software version was 2.33 after update it now 9.04. My problem below:
1.It is unable to support flash file or flash theme. The home screen is blank when apply. Flash file is not open. It looks "file not support". But my privious phone(c2-01) it was supported. Please help me to suppopt flash theme or file.
2. Youtube video loading only 60% then looks "no response".

Sounds like your file system gets corrupted each time you update WhatsApp. Did you update WhatsApp manually already? If that shows the same behaviour, I would send in that phone because the cause could be hardware related (broken flash memory).

Nokia 301 Freezing

Updated new Firmware, Nokia 301 is freezing with FB open sometimes! had to remove battery to turn it off..wouldnt turn of with Off Key any advice thanks. Using 16GB Memory card in it.

Thank you for the quick response, billbobaggins. Have you tried removing the Facebook application from your phone? If you haven't, try to uninstall and reinstall it on your phone. If this will not make any changes, you can perform a soft reset on the phone by going to Menu > Settings > Rest. fact. sett. > Settings Only. You will be asked to put your security code when doing the reset. If you already changed it, just put your personal code. However, if it's not been changed, you can use the default code which is 12345. Let us know whether this troubleshooting procedure helps you out with your concern.
