Nokia 3109 - no brightness settings !

It is not possible to adjust the brightness of this phone, especially during night it is very unpleasant how the tft display actually shines.
I would appreciate any help in this matter, the phone itself is able to lower the brightness when going to standby mode, but there is no way how to lower it manually for normal usage.
Perhaps some firmware update or something similar would help, please let me also know if it is to be planned.
I got Nokia 3109 from my company as work mobile, otherwise it is a very good one.

No they won't release any logs, i don't think any Series 40 handset has the option to change the brightness so you're not on your own there!

Windows 8.1 Update Causes Lost Brightness Settings / Screen is Dim

I updated from Windows 8 to 8.1 and the next day my screen went dim and I could not adjust it neither with the keyboard +/-, nor with the onscreen graphics dashboard, nor within the power settings.
How do you fix it?

Sometimes Windows updates will break your graphics driver. That is because Intel and NVidia do not update their graphics drivers on the same schedule that Microsoft
updates Windows, and sometimes the updates are incompatible and cause the graphics driver to do wonky things. In my case that came in the form of lost brightness settings.
I searched these forums for a fix and I could not find one, so now that I know the answer, I am sharing it here.
How do you fix it? You have to reinstall the graphics driver. This is how I did it.
I found the graphics driver install file that was already on my computer and I ran it. It reinstalled the driver in about 5 seconds and my screen brightness functionality was restored.
Where is my graphics driver install file? On my computer it is here:
D:driversVGAIntelx649.17.10.2932\Setup.exe
Yours is probably in a different but similar location depending on how it was installed and what brand it is, etc. I have a Lenovo

My iPhone 4 has recently started to flicker. I've changed the brightness settings and for a short period of time it was back to normal, but now it is much worse! What am I to do?

Three days ago I was trying to take a picture, but I couldn't see what I was taking because of the flickering white lines that covered the screen. But when I looked at the image after taking it, it was perfectly fine. So I knew it wasn't the camera playing up. The next day my phone wouldn't allow me to view images without the lines appearing. The following day I changed my brightness settings, and it went back to normal. But now it is much worse. No matter what I try to do the flickering lines are all over the screen! I don't know what to do. I would appreciate any help, thank you!

I'm not a fan of DFU mode because I've never seen it recommended by Apple.
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Isync and the nokia 3109 classic

does anybody know a work around, or, when support is to be expected?

you can either buy a very functional plug-in from nova media (http://www.novamedia.de/epages/e_produkte_mac_isyncplugins.html) or you can download for free a fully functional iSync plugin from http://www.james-lloyd.com/scripts/nokia-series-40-isync-plugin/.
I also have a 3109 and both solutions work flawlessly.

Text Problem with a Nokia 3109 Classic

Work have recently updated my phone to a Nokia 3109 Classic.
The problem I have which i am finding very annoying is when I send a text message from this phone it stays at the composed message and does not return back to the main messaging screen.
Is there any update that will fix this??

That's how Nokias are.....I agree, it's bizarre. I suppose they think you might want to send the same message to somebody else! But often I forget whether I've sent it at all.

My itouch bright settings is not working

My itouch is dark and the bright settings is not working.

Have you tried the standard fixes:
- Rest:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes on your computer
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod

Galaxy Stellar Email Brightness Settings

The pre-installed email product on my Samsung Galaxy Stellar is experiencing the following problem after OS System Updates:
All other programs on the phone utilize the brightness settings from the Display settings, but the email product is dim (pre-sleep) regardless of what I do. If an email is selected and opened, it is still dim. When I transition to other apps, home, etc. the screen returns to the pre-set brightness.
Any actual customers have any experience with this? Professional Verizon posters welcomed as well.

I don't want you to continue to be unhappy like your name, let's figure out what's going on. I see two of my co-workers have reported this issue on customers' devices, but it is still being investigated. Can you please clear the cache on your email application by going to Settings, Apps, Manage Apps, All, Email. Clear cache & reboot your phone. Let me know if this screen is still dim.

Windows 7 and Brightness Settings

Hey,
I am having problems with my brightness settings while running bootcamp Windows 7. Every time i change the settings via the keyboard brightness settings, within seconds the setting will automatically revert back to full brightness. The same is true when i adjust it in bootcamp control panel menu.
I have updated my video driver to the newest and still nothing. Can anyone offer some help? Thanks

I have Windows 7 running on my MacBook Pro and from my experience, Windows 7 is set up to automatically turn on the keyboard backlight whenever the lighting changes, so every time a shadow moves over the webcam or the light changes just a little bit, Windows will activate the keyboard backlight. Combine this with the fact that Bootcamp's drivers can't effectively communicate with Windows to shut off this feature and you get a very annoying keyboard.
If you can, try to work in a well-lit area so that Windows never has the urge to turn on the keyboard backlight. If you're stuck in a low light condition, and you have no way to keep a (somewhat) bright light aimed at the webcam, you may be stuck with the annoying backlight until Bootcamp gets a better driver to override the Windows backlight driver.

MBP forgets screen brightness settings?

Since I have installed Leopard my MBP "forgets" where I had the screen brightness set once it's restarted. It defaults to just below half, even if I have it on full when I shut it down. Am I missing a setting?

The screen changes brightness so that when you are in a dark room it doesn't blind you. this works in conjunction with the keyboard lighting up so you can see it.
What you can do is that you can manually set the brigthness when you are in a darker room to brighter or dimmer, and the machine will remember that setting under those conditions, as I have found out. Not sure if it will let you have full brightness in a dark room unless you uncheck the setting that controls this in displays preferences as someone else pointed out.
Same applies to keyboard brightness settings. If you don't want the keyboard fully lit up, you can dim it manually in the dark, and it will remember that setting next time.
Once you get used to it and can control it, it is the way to go, IMO.

Howto save nvidia brightness settings?

Hey Folks,
i'm currently running Arch on my Mediacenter PC, with a GeForce4 Something connected to my TV via TV-Out (SVideo). Everything is working quite nicely, apart from the fact that the graphics appear kinda dark on the TV.
I can adjust the brightness settings without a problem with nvidia-settings, but after every X restart/reboot those are back to standard again. Running nvidia-settings once fixes this tho.
So, is there a way to save the brightness settings?

just added "nvidia-settings -l" to run automatically when X starts....

Nokia 3110 Classic - Some settings :/

I just upgraded my phone from Nokia 2100 to Nokia 3110 Classic (finally, yay.)
In my 2100 I had a couple of settings I used.
a) Setting to change the amount of time the phone lights up.
b) Setting to change how long the phone waits before going into standby mode.
Not sure if those are the same things, but my 3110c lights up for quite a while

You can no longer set the time it takes for the backlight to go off. The other setting you will find under the screen saver settings menu in your display settings menu.

K330 display brightness settings keep resetting

Hi,
After setting the brightness and contrast of the display in the NVIDIA control panel of my K330 -> Adjust desktop colour setting -> Use NVIDIA settings, the brightness will always revert to the original settings after I restart the CPU. How do I ensure that the settings do not keep reverting to the original settings?
I have already tried updating to the latest NVIDIA GeForce GT 420 driver but it doesnt help.

could you uninstall the current graphic driver, let windows install its own drivers and see if the setting will stay ?
if it stays, then go to http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/ca/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=728080 and reinstall the driver for your graphic card

Nokia E5 Calendar Sync Settings Help

I'd like to sync my calendar on Ovi.com with teh one on my Nokia E5. I followed all these instructions here:
1. On your computer, go to www.ovi.com
2. Sign in your account
3. Click on the calendar tab
4. Click on “manage device”
5. Click on remove device, and then click again on remove device
6. Click on add device
7. Choose Nokia E5 on the list, and then press Next
8. Enter your mobile number in international format (e.g. +441234568790)
9. Choose the correct time zone
10. Click on Next, and then done
B. Follow the setup instructions
1. Wait for the SMS message on your device from Nokia
2. Enter the pin that was provided to you from Ovi.com
3. Save the message in your device (go to Options and select Save)
C. Follow the synchronization instructions
1. On your device, go to Menu
2. Choose Ctrl. panel
3. Select Connectivity
4. Choose Sync
5. Select Options
6. Choose Synchronise
However, I cannot successfully syncronise. Trying it with the original sync profile resulted in this message on Ovi.com:
Your device is partially configured. Please complete the configuration by synchronizing the device or remove it to add another.'I tried to adapt the sync settings, but need help here. What do I need to fill in for:
Sync Profile Name
Server Version (1.2 currently)
server ID
Data Bearer
Network connection (currently my WiFi)
Host address
Port
User name (I use my Ovi.com one)
password (I use the according one)
My current profile results in the message 'invalid Host address'

I can get Mail for Exchange to sync the contacts and the calendar working for a normal gmail account...
...HOWEVER, I can't get it working for a Google Apps account using the same setup...what's the issue?

Nokia 6700 Classic sensor settings

Hi.
I have just recently bought the Nokia 6700, and was pretty impressed by the feature that allows you to view the clock, mute, reject calls etc by tapping the phone. However, I've been unable to get it to work. Any clues as to what could be wrong here? I've activated it through the phone settings, but still no joy.
