Nokia 3710 fold won't access Telstra messagebank v...

Nokia 3710 fold won't recognise Telstra 101 Voicemail - thinks it's an invalid number and thus attempts an emergency call - however #101# works by having voicemail call you back - not sure if this costs extra though. Telstra know nothing of this problem. Never happened with any other phones I have owned. Any help - same experience??

I want to buy a new moble and have narrowed my choice down to three.
1. Nokia 6303i
2. Nokia 3710 Fold
3. Nokia 2710 Fold
I'm a very light user of mobles and like the design of all three phones, but would prefer a flip up phone. I need the phone to be Pay As You Go and on the Orange network.
My budget is approx the £100 mark, but I would spend a little extra for the 3710 (if it's PAYG and on the Orange network.).
Can anyone give me any opinions on the three phones and which one would be best for my needs?

Nokia 3710 No international network access

Hello,
I have a Nokia 3710 that has Quad Band, GSM, UMTS.
I am travelling at the moment in Eastern Europe and my network coverage is not working. What are the settings I have to modify for my phone to pick up a coverage. I have tried manually searching and found networks but every time I select one it gives me the message no network coverage.
It is weird as I had the 6131 phone while travelling in the US and Canada and that phone had no problem picking up a network in those countries. I still have the same operator as I did while travelling in the US so I doubt is an operator probelm. My operator is Orange.

Connecting to other networks is controlled by the SIM, not the phone. Note that the phone can 'see' the other networks. So I suspect it was an issue with Orange, e.g. no partners in those countries, SIM not authorized for roaming in those countries, etc.

Nokia 3710 fold: List of "last Used contacts" does...

I have a Nokia 3710.
When I send an SMS I want to pick a contact from the "last used contacts" (Senast använda in swedish).
This list is not updated since some time.
I have search through most menues and can not find a setting to change it (if there is one?).
Any suggestions what to do?

Yes, I'm having the same issue and cannot find a resolution anywhere. In fact with mine, it's not so much that it's not updating, but moreso that it says that No Numbers or Email Addresses Found" - so I've got none showing at all.
Don't want to do a Restore Factory Configuration in case I lose all of my information since buying the phone (only about 3 weeks old by the way)..... Hope there is an answer soon as it's most annoying.

3710 fold and Apple Mac OS)_

For anyone out there who wants to synchronize contacts and calendar between a Nokia 3710 fold and Mac OS X Address Book and iCal, SynchMate (http://mac.eltima.com/) is free for these tasks and works fine. (Apple's iSync doesn't support this phone at present.)
Unfortunately none of the Nokia software for Mac OS X (e.g. Multimedia Transfer) supports the 3710 fold at present.

None of the Nokia Software for Windows works properly at the minute either:

Just to confirm the additional problems relating to the software on the Nokia 3710 fold (4.30 firmware).
As part of the diagnostic process, I tried connecting the 3710 to an XP machine (having previously backed it up, software upgraded and re-installed on a Vista machine).
The 3710 'connects' on an XP machine, but it cannot sync Messages, Contacts or Photos (in OVI) - strangely it does sync Music - also it cannot 'back-up' in OVI - the OVI software recognises the 3701 as connected, but cannot transfer or back-up data.
It is the same problem using Nokia PC Suite - the 3710 shows as connected, but cannot be backed up, and the phone contents cannot be displayed - even though the software recognises the phone as 'connected'.
I tried connecting my old 6131 to the XP machine and PC Suite recognised it immediately, the phone performed a syncronisation without prompting and I was able to view Contacts, Messages (including my Message Folders), Photos and Music (Ringtones) - the 6131 could also be Backed-Up with PC suite on the XP machine.
OK, so thats another problem to add to the list - the 3710 (S40 Firmware 4.3) software is badly written and doesn't function in many areas, and I've now found that it doesn't work with a Windows XP Machine - even though it should.

Messages in sent folder cannot be accessed

Hello
on one of our machines messages in the sent folder cannot be accessed, we get a message which says the message is unavailable since it has not been downloaded from the server - or something like that!
It's just started happening and is very annoying. It now seems to be affecting all the sent emails from that account. The account is POP so the sent messages should be sotred on the machine, not on the server in any case, no?
Can anyone shed some light??

Once you send an e-mail it gets time stamped, from what I know this timestamp can't be modified. I too have received e-mails with the wrong timestamp. In some mail clients such as Yahoo Mail and Gmail what will happen is that you will get a new message notification but the email won't be at the top of the inbox but rather somewhere down the list. This happens as e-mails are sorted by their timestamps when they arrive to your inbox.

I need help on changing permission on "Everyone" group on "Users" folder to "No Access" using a Terminal command line.
What i'm trying to do is assign "Everyone" group to "No Access" on "User" folder to restrict other users from going to users home folder on the computer.
Right now, when a user login he/she has the ability to view files that are not located in the documents folder

Network is configured for OD/AD, home folder is located on Dell Server

You are running Oracle Linux and want to use a network volume provided by Windows 2008 to install Oracle Database.
Your problem is that you cannot set appropriate privileges on the mounted volume to perform the installation.
Is this correct?
If yes, then as far as I know, Windows file sharing is not support, even if you fix the permission issues. Your problem is the file system, which won't be Linux ext3. NFS might be supported, but I think it is not the best idea. Have you looked into iSCSI? It will allow you to mount remote disks using SCSI protocol. You could do pretty much everything with such a mounted disk that you can do with a locally attached drive, including initializing, but instead of using the local bus, it will use the TCP/IP network.

Nobody can tell you anything without knowing exact site and server specs, but I would suspect that naming the folder "html" wasn't the brightest of ideas, since that's usually a default (invisible) folder name existing somewhere on the server and the user not having privileges to overwrite it.

Desktop Folder Redirection slow access

Ok, I've scoured the network for weeks now trying to resolve this.
Using Windows 7 fully patched, and file servers are 2012 R2
We have folder redirection in place for Documents and Desktop.
The folders are redirected to one of their mapped drives. When accessing the mapped drive, the drive hangs whilst the green progress bar occurs when trying to display the desktop folder. Once accessed, this can be ok for further accesses but
then may recur again later. It is only the desktop folder. Documents is fine. I've tried customising the folder for item type, removed the icon cache, indexed the server, recreated local profiles, moved information off and deleted the folder
on server to allow to recreate etc etc. The issues as I say is intermittent but extremely frustrating.
The group policies originally redirected to a mapped drive when the home directory was set up in AD. However, we've moved away from that, and now the group policies use unc for the redirected folders. All permissions on the server are set up
correctly according to the MS kbs. Some people don't appear to have the issue.
The desktop in favorites in Windows Explorer appears to respond fine even when the mapped drive doesn't. Occasionally the mapped drive is fine, and in this case the Desktop in Favorites isn't.
I've checked the registry, all values in Shell Folders and User Shell Folders are set up correctly.
I've reached the end of what could be wrong, and have no idea what is causing this issue. Any help greatly appreciated.

Please take a try to uncheck the "Automatically detect settings"
under
Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings -> Automatic Configurations.
Check if this could help here.
Besides, disable TCP autotuning with the following command and check again:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

HELP - My new Nokia Lumia 620 won't boot up, even ...

I'm worried my Nokia Lumia 620 is a lemon, and the Care Centre will just keep taking it in for repair. The reliability so far has been disappointing, especially as I was giving Nokia a try after a 10 year break, and also trying out Windows Mobile / Phone after a 6 year break. I want to recommend it - I'm continually being asked by friends and colleagues what I think of my new phone.   Nokia will be smart to just replace it.
The details: my Nokia Lumia 620 won't boot up today (again). It hung on boot this morning with the Nokia Logo. That was over 2 hours ago. It had this problem during February, and I returned it twice for repair to the local Nokia Care Centre. I guess I'll take it in again later today, but it just feels like a lemon handset so far.
Timeline:
Handset purchased in local Nokia Store on Jan 29 2013 ( 7 weeks ago)
Handset gave "Exclamation-Mark-Screen-of-Death" on Feb 19 2013 (3 weeks old handset)
Local Nokia Store sent me to local Nokia Care Centre, handed in overnight "for repair"
Phone returned on Feb-20-2013 after software refresh.
Worked fine for 1 week.   Problem returned Feb 26 2013. (4 week old handset)
Nokia Care Centre "replaced motherboard" on Feb 27 2013.
Has worked fine for 3 weeks.   Now Lumia 620 won't boot this morning - no Exclamation Mark, instead it's the Nokia Logo on boot.
The handset is 7 weeks old.
Hard reset (side-button-combination) hasn't worked either.
Any advice on getting this working, repaired or replaced?

Update on the repair - it didn't work. I returned the phone to the Yau Ma Tei Nokia Care Centre on March 20th, and was given what was termed a 'replacement' phone. I was pretty happy. All was well. But two days later when I tried to make a phone call using my headphones, I noticed that only the left audio channel was working through the earphones. I tried a second pair of earphones and the same problem. The audio was only working through the left channel. On a new phone. How strange.
So was it really new? My suspicion is that the repair centre has used old returned parts (parts they perhaps term as refurbished) - so in fact my replacement phone is my old phone assembled with old and refurbished parts. Was it in fact a refurbished phone assembled from refurbished parts? Frustrating when they tell me it's a replacement phone.
That was back in late March. I posted a couple of tweets and Nokia responded. They even phoned me to try and help. However no offer of a new phone. All they suggested was that I revisit the Nokia Service Centre. For a 4th time.
That was about 6 weeks ago, and I simply haven't made the time to go to the Service Centre again. It's hard to find the time when my last 3 visits have been so unsuccessful.
Sometimes you just get a lemon. It happened to me once before with a different manufacturer when I was on a contract and had to live with a phone for 2 years that kept cutting out during calls. Same problem - the manufacturer attempted to repair it, but it just never worked properly. That was 10 years ago. Now it's happening with my new Nokia. Luckily I'm not on contract this time. I've read good reviews for the Lumia 620, and overall it's a pretty decent handset in every other way.
But the issues this particular handset has been plagued with has overshadowed any positive feelings I have been having. I'll probably be cutting my losses and changing handsets in the summer.

How to set up KM folder with Anonymous access.

I would like to setup a KM folder with anonymous access where any document on that folder can be viewed by anonymous users by clicking on a link specific to that document. For example: http://server/irj/go/km/docs/documents/TechDocs/file_name.html
Please note that this document will not be rendered through an iView, so setting up an anonymous role will not work in this case.
Can anyone tell if this will be doable and the steps to do it?

You have to differentiate between anonymous access to the iView behind /irj/go/km/docs (PCD auth scheme) and the permissions on KM folders (KM permissions). If you want to restrict the access, on the folders which should not be accessible for anonymous access, remove the group "Everyone" from the permissions (via details / settings / permissions). Hi, have had nokia 6600 fold for couple of years - love it ! no probs, but have just found a strange symbol on screen which ive never seen before ? Its a yellow message envelope which spins and then becomes what loooks like a paper clip ? Cannot figure out what it is..messages 'in' shows nothing ?

My first thought is to not just apply permissions to the folder but be sure to apply them to all objects inside them. It would be interesting to see if you can rename this file, then rename it back to its original name; this would test permissions nondestructively.
