Nokia 5070 from menorca

hi!
i recently bought a nokia 5070 from menorca and cannot get it off movistar! all the instructions are in spanish!! i tried to call the help line but they did not speak english...i can search for a different network but it wont let me use it, i am confused! is the phone locked? any ideas guys'n'gals??

If the phone is locked to the Spanish network, then only they can provide the unlocking code (otherwise known as a restriction code) to unlock the phone.
All Nokia phones sold in the European Union and European Economic Area are covered by a pan-European 24-month warranty which will be rendered void if you try any unofficial route to unlocking the phone, so I urge you for your own sake to get in touch with the operator (if you write of contact via their web site, there should be somebody who understands English who can reply).

  • IRD connectivity, Nokia 5070

    I have an issue whith the infrared connectivity of my Nokia 5070.
    My computer detects the device properly and I can even transfer files TO the phone using the Windows XP infrared application.
    Yet when I try to download files FROM the device, the nokia's software is not able to detect any phone.
    Nokia PC Suite v. 6.89.9.3: when attempting to connect via IRD, after a while of "process" an error message is displayed, asking the user to check if the IRD in the PC and device are active, or set the speed to minimum.
    Nokia PC Suite v. 7.0.9.2: when attempting to connect via IRD, no process occurs. A screen titled "Connection setup complete" is immediately shown. "you have now the following connections available" is read above a field where the connected devices should be showing, but this field is empty.
    Can anyone help me with this?

    Hi xdivarius. I have similar HW: Palm IIIxe (old!!!) and a Nokia 5070b. An external USB-IrDa adapter on my PC with a SF-620 chip/driver. As you probably know, there are some USB devices that really work over serial connections. The USB CA-42 Nokia cable, to connect 5070 via usb, is an example. So first of all, check your Com ports speed and to be free from other applications/devices. In fact, you should exit from Palm´s HotSync. Update your IR device driver. Update your PC Suite version. I´m using spanish version of PC Suite v 6.85.14.1 (the last one) and it´s working fine. Even more, I installed a modem driver for 5070 from:
    http://ds.my-mam.com/ModemSetup/ModemSetup_USB_V95​.exe. This is a Mobile Action site. So I have Nokia 5070b connection with data backup, file manager, messges manager, picture manager, etc. I can connect to Internet via 5070 (very expensive for me...) I hope you can solve your issue. Basically (also), all mobiles can call (I guess this is the reason why mobile is invented), play (I can say that all of mobiles nowadays has build-in games), and send sms more than 200 a day!!! Whoah, all this time I thought that sms and call limitation is based on your sim card credit… but anyway, maybe you are referring to phone internal memory, so, the 5070 have 4MB of user memory… I guess that can accommodate 200 sms a day… but then again, since this model has no extra memory (e.g. memory card), you will be required to delete some sms on a daily basis also to accommodate incoming messages…
    …about “good board” that can write fast… hmmm… are sure you are not going to enter into some competitions for fast texters in Portugal?… anyway, I guess the main consideration if you want to be the fastest texter is the ergonomic design of the keyboard that suits you personally… I mean, you have to consider the keyboard arrangements (which is standard in any mobile as of now – except for Siemens SX1), the space between the keys, and ofcourse, your fingertips… your fingertips must be proportional to your mobile keyboard… and so on…
    …anyway, if 5112 board is good for you, then use it instead of 5070… or por pabor, give 5070 a try and let us know… hmm… now I’m interested…

    Not exactly. There are two versions of E5, each of them being tri-band as far as3G is concerned. The North American one is 850/1900/2100, while the other one, for the rest of the world, is 900/1900/2100.

    As a rule you are not permitted to downgrade software. However you can try your nearest Nokia care centre and try to give them sufficiently strong reason. They MAY agree to downgrade. Decision is solely dependent on them.
    And yes, please dont fall prey to the tricks available on internet.

    Today I recived my new Nokia 5070 but on the screen it has a brown dot on the screen. Is that a pixel that still needs working to get the normal colors? For my experience the dead pixel is a black pixel.Please Help!

    If you change screen colour and that dot still remains in the same colour is suggested to contact your retailer in order to change phone, or if you prefer deliver phone in nokia care center for a technical assistance.

    I am unable to delete, or move, them to a folder.

    It easy to remove all those Nokia bookmarks links and folders. Just remove the bookmarks db file...
    Use Y-Tasks (process & threads) to kill "FavoritesSrv.exe"
    You need self sign Y-Tasks.
    Then go to... C:\Private\100012a5 and delete...
    DBS_101FD685_BrowserBookmarks.db
    That's for FP 1 & FP 2 devices for FP 3 devices you need to copy the DBS_101FD685_BrowserBookmarks.db that I included a download link to, copy that to the C:\Private\100012a5, overwriting the original file!
    Then restart your device...
    After you do that the only folders that you will have by default are...
    Web Feeds
    Auto.Bookmarks
    They are left because they are related to the browsers settings...

    In order to fix this issue, I advise you to follow the steps below: 
    1) Uninstall the current version of Nokia Suite that you have. 
    2) Clean the registry with a registry cleaner. 
    3) On your PC, go to Start > Run and type %temp% and click on "Run". Delete all Nokia folders from the folder that opens. 
    4) Download the newest Beta version of Nokia Suite from this link: 
    http://betalabs.nokia.com/trials/nokia-suite-beta
    You will need to sign in to your Nokia account - the same credentials used to log into this forum.

    The site that you are refering to still needs to be updated to contain the 5070 in it's dropdown.

    I cannot get into my Nokia account from my settings. Have had problems with downloading apps with an error code and thought it could be resolved by setting up a Nokia account and possibly linking it to Facebook.

    Im with O2 and have an E65.
    My phone restarts (as did my previous N70 and 6680) when it's in a weak 3G signal area. They have all been fine in strong signal or no 3G signal areas.
    Fortunately for me I'm not really bothered about 3G so I switched it off and not had a restart since.
    It's about time nokia and O2 got together and looked into this issue.
