Nokia 5228 - Pin Code Error

I had my Nokia 5228 for years now. It is still in good condition. Yesterday, I lost it then got it back. I thought I should be more careful so I added Pin code lock to my phone. I tested it out when i switched my phone off. The pin code is "1234" btw. Upon switching on, the phone asked for pin code. The first time it failed so i thought it might be a mistake so I tried it 2 more times and all it kept saying was "Code Error!" then there kme the PUK code. It is "12345678" It was working but when i tried to change passcode, it still said "Code Error!" I'm down to my last 7 tries. Hard resetting didn't work anyways. Please help!

are you sure that the code your phone is asking is the security code? if it really security code and default code 12345 is not working, you need to bring your phone to the nearest nokia carepoint so re-flash will be done on your phone and the default code will be back to 12345 again.

Hi Dhdhdharani,
2 hours is too much. 10 minutes as suggested by Scoobyman will suffice. Removing the SIM card and the microSD card is not really necessary but OP can give it a try still.

Nokia 2320 "code error"

I was trying to set up a password on my phone and when i restarted it the menu popped up saying enter PUK code and so i enterd that and then it said "enter new PIN code" so i put that in and then it said"verify new PIN code" so i put that same PIN number in and it said code error and went back to the first screen. I have tried redoing this but it always ends the same way. help!

The morning I was to leave for mil training, my new K9 "neutralized" the alarm on my old Nokia (I had knocked if off onto the floor during the night. The beeping/flashing thing on the floor must have appeared to her as a threat to me.) I stopped at a wally-world and got a 2320 and popped my SIM into it... got a PUK error. Several phone calls on my buddy's phone to AT&T resulted in "you must bring it in to one of our company stores". ( I had to scarf up a civilian vehicle and drive to BFE to find a store) Neither of the ATT employees ever heard of a PUK code. Finally, after almost an hour (I wasn't leaving until my phone worked!) the one gal put my SIM in her Blackberry and popped in my 10 digit phone number. Success!
So, the short answer to your question is PUK = your 10 digit phone number.

NOKIA N73 CODE ERROR

Hi,
Before I updated my phone to the latest sw: v3.0704.1.0.1, I had engaged the security setting (lock if SIM changed) to prevent SIM swap incase it is stolen.
Now my Lock code can nolonger unlock the settings neither is the default: 12345. Instead the phone will ask for new password and verification but will give this error message: CODE ERROR.
Can anybody help. I can nolonger use this phone with any other SIM

Have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling the software? Not sure why it would have gone wrong but worth a go. Have you installed anything since?

If you mean the security code (which protects your phone) rather than the PIN (which protects your SIM) then the default on all Nokia phones is 12345.

Usual default security code for Nokia phone is 12345.
But after you changed it and if it did not work, i am afraid nothing can be done but to visit the nearest Nokia care services.

You would need to visit Nokia Care facility with proof of purchase for it to be reset to factory default value of 12345.

Thanks for your post and welcome to the Nokia forum.
In order to fix this issue, I would advise you to visit your local nokia care point. Your phone will be reseted to the default code "12345".
To retrieve your lost themes (preinstalled), I would suggest you to reinstall your software via Nokia suite.

Nokia 7373 - Security Code Forgotten

Hi,
I can't perform a master reset on my phone or delete contacts from the phone as I seem to have forgotten my security code (although I do still know my PIN so can access and use the phone). So far I have tried the following codes:
0000
1111
12345
and the one that was generated by my IMEI number from another website
...but each time I get a "Code Error" message. I phoned Orange and they told me that you can't change the Security Code yourself and that it must be 1111 or 12345 but obviously these don't work and Orange are wrong. Any help would be much appreciated as I want to give the phone to my sister as I've recently had an upgrade.

The default security code is 12345. If that does not work then someone has changed it.
The ONLY way to reset this code is at a nokia care point. They may charge for the service and you may lose all data from the phones memory.
They will also need to see proof of purchase/ownership before they will do it.

NOKIA 3120(classic) UPDATE ERROR

ERROR RECEIVED WHILE UPDATING NOKIA 3120 CLASSIC.

Update details:-
while i was updated 3120 classic, after the firmware was downloaded, and during the installation process, the lights went off and my mobile got DEAD.
after that i reconnected the mobile and the screen of the mobile is blank and the above error is being received!!!

Today I also ran into this problem. I wanted to upgrade from v7.16 to v10.00 because my mobile has some annoying freezes but till now I didn't have a USB cable.
In the middle of the update process my mobile just died and didn't responded only the keyboard started to shine when I tried to switch it on. But I just kept trying to re-run the updater which detected the interrupted update process and offered to continue. It advised me to remove the battery, pull out the USB cable and the charger than reconnect them again and switch on the mobile. I did it as I advised to about 3 times but didn't succeeded, but kept trying and after a while even the mobile keyboard didn't shine at all. Although it seemed completely dead I left it alone with the updater program running and a few minutes later the screen started with a simlpe white background and later on a short text in red characters appeared: "Test mode". Another minutes later it asked for PIN code and worked fine.
So keep trying patiently and maybe you can revive your phone just as I did.

What is the circumstance of the error? Have you changed something related in the PC or perhaps done a system restore to a previous date? Has anything happened to the phone like a software update?
It appears for whatever reason that your PC and/or phone is not being recognised as a CWM device. If the phone is at fault, formatting the memory card usually helps. I'm not sure what could be causing the issue if it is PC-related, but perhaps try this (it is actually the solution for a different issue, but it might work):
If you are using Windows XP 32/64:
Uninstall the Nokia Music application. Once removed from the PC, delete or rename the MDataStore.db3 file in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase. Then reinstall the Nokia Music client again and attempt to download the music content.
If your are using Windows Vista 32/64:
Uninstall the Nokia Music application. Once removed from the PC, delete or rename the MDataStore.db3 file in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase. Then reinstall the Nokia Music client again and attempt to download the music content.

6280 PIN Code Mixup!

Hi,
Something wrong with the pin codes i set on my 6280.
I have put a pin code on the phone, It's 0000 (I think i'm allowed to post that) But when i change it to something else for example, 1234, 321 etc It just goes 'Code Error'.
It seems the only PIN Code that this phone can recognize is 0000, Then when i change to something else i have to type it in wrong all the time because it forgets it and it comes to the PUK Code bit, I am fine with that as my network gave it me.
But what is annoyying is that if my mobile gets stolen, The PIN Code is obvious because it's 0000 and they can get into my data.
Is this happening to people? Please tell me, Then i will consider taking it to my nearest Nokia Service Centre.
My Firmware version is 05.92.

Is that code (0000) the default code on the phone or did you change it to this?
The reason i ask is that the standard code or the factory default code on any nokia is 12345. Have you tried this and then tried changing the code?

Nokia Belle upgrade on Nokia X7 - Security Code er...

I have just upgraded to Belle software but now there is an annoying thing were I keep getting asked for a security code (which I hadn't used previously) on boot up, if you put the default code in it fails(12345,00000), but if you cancel you can still operate the phone normally.
Very odd...Anyone have any fixes for this?
