Nokia 5230 completely dead

Hello,
I was normally using my Nokia 5230, finding that I can not access the radio. So I have tried to switch Nokia off to start it again, but.....
My Nokia has black screen, call buttons and menu button are lighted, but I have tried different keystrokes, but nothing is happening. I found some keystroke - left call button, right call button, camera key - nothing is happening.
What should I do? I am afraid to remove the battery, as the phone is switched on..... Is there some manual reset button?
Please, could you help me? I am little bit nervous,
Jirka

You have run out of options unfortunately and you would need device switched off to carry out three key depressed power on "hard reset" that you mentioned; co-incicentally sometimes removing battery for 10 minutes and then replacing can clear issues.
Probably the only reason for not switching it off was if trying to establish connectivity with PC or OVI Suite for backup purposes, but unlikely to function if device compromised anyway.

Have a look at this valuable resource, but if no luck a trip to Nokia Care Point would be needed:/t5/Pool-of-Knowledge/Recovering-from-a-failed-firmware-update/m-p/398147#M112

  • Nokia Lumia 800 completely dead

A few days ago my Nokia Lumia completely died on me. The battery wasnt low or anything, it just switched off and refuses to come back on. There is no light or vibrations.
Ive left it on charge and the phone heats up but theres no life!
Ive tried all the key combinations and none works.
I cannot take the phone back as its pass the warranty/guarantee time, so would have to get it fixed...anyone know of a good cellphone repair place in the West Rand, Johannesburg, South Africa - that knows how to fix Lumia's...

  • Nokia Lumia 800 is completely dead

I received my phone on the day of release and its been workign since. It went off last night after I forgot to charge it and now its completely dead. I have tried all the usual tricks and tips, reset etc... nothing is working. Can anyone from Nokia please advise on a solution. Vodafone are being a nightmare to try and deal with.

There have been many posts on why you should not let he battery drain completely. If you get stuck on the NOKIA logo when booting there's something else going on though. You are sure that all that happened was a full battery drain?
Anyway, I'd suggest you reset, first try a soft and if required a hard reset.
    Soft reset:
Make sure the phone is off by pressing the power button for 10 seconds
Press and hold power+volume down at the same time
Wait for the phone to vibrate
    Release power
    Wait for another 10 seconds
    Release volume down
Phone might vibrate, wait 5 seconds
    power on
If this does not help you can do a hard reset by going through the same sequence but by pressing power+volume down+camera
This will do a full reset you you will need to set up the phone again when finished.
There's other options, but they can't be discussed here.

  • Lumia 720 completely dead

So, my quite new, undamaged Lumia 720 has gone completely dead.
I took some photos and soon after that shut it off for the night to conserve battery (which was at 47% at this point). The las photo doesn't show up at skydrive, so I shut the phone off when it was still syncing. Next morning I tried to start it up again, no response. Tried soft and hard reset combinations, nothing. Put it on charger for 6 hours, nothing. Tried soft and hard reset again without sim & sd, nothing.
There have been no reactions whatsoever, even when I tried to charge the phone up. No vibrations, no sounds, nothing on the screen.
Up until now it has worked quite well, apart from a few crashes that needed soft reset.
So, can I do anything to fix it, or do I have to take it back? I'm not really interested in using my old samsung again for weeks...

I got my new 720 in June 2013.  Absolutely love it but then in early November it died.  Had to send it off to NSW (No Nokia repair in Perth, WA).  Allphones were good at organising the repair logistics
Phone was fixed and sent back after 2 weeks.  Issue was something to do with camera flex.  Then it broke again early December, unable to turn on, I tried soft and hard resets still no go.  Now it s off again for 2nd warranty repair.
I asked for replacement as I need to travel overseas for Xmas, but not joy.  So my phone will be repaired again and will be there wating for me when I return from holidays.  Very painful, experience.

  • My nokia 5230 has killed 2 intenso 4gb microsd car...

I have a 8 months old nokia 5230, and it has just made 2 microsd cards useless.
The first one didn't work after 2 months, just stopped today, i took the battery out from my nokia, restarted it, still nothing, could this be the mobile's fault?
it also does turn off from time to time, goes a little bit slow, i don't have anything like some programs there just the original games and songs.

Hey, so they fixed the problem with the Bluetooth by having me do a complete reset of the phone. Be careful doing this because it can delete all your contacts/pictures/whatever is saved on your phone. I would suggest taking it to a tmobile store and having them show you how to backup the info first. When you're ready, you hold down the send, end and camera buttons, then hold down the power button until the power goes off. Then release the power button and wait for it to reload, you can release the other buttons after the logo disappears. This worked when a normal power down and even a battery pull didn't fix it for us. Hope this helps, just be careful with the reset. I lost a lot of phone numbers because I didn't realize what would happen.

  • N900 completely dead

It seems my N900 is completely dead.
The phone does not start up at all. It does not react at all, and even if I try to charge via the adapter or USB, nothing happens (no blinking lights, nothing).
I've tried to do the things as indicated in many forums to try to re-flash it but I can't even get to the initial step of it trying to startup (showing lights, logos etc.).
    Any ideas?

when i used to sell phones, there were some that just needed to be left on the charger for a while before they began to actually charge....dont ask me why, but they were only nokias.
how long did you just leave it sitting there on the charger.  i have seen it take as long as 8 minutes of absolute nothing before the charge started happening.
at this point, you have everything to gain and nothing to loose.  give it a try.

  • E71X completly dead after getting an update

My wife received a message from ATT last night saying they were doing a software update. She checked the message and sat the phone back down. This morning it was completely dead and would not charge.
I then swithched the battery from my phone to her phone to see if it was the battery. It started right up.
Then I put her battery in my phone and it started up also.
She did not drop or jiggle the phone.
    Any ideas on what happend?
Should I call Nokia and send it back?

Do you have a bootable clone from prior to the update? If so, roll back with that.
Are your apps that won't open PPC and do they need Rosetta? Do you need to activate Rosetta?
Have you considered reinstalling 10.6 from your install disc and then coming forward with the 10.6.8 Combo Updater, then doing software update and not including whatever it was you installed that caused this propblem?
By the way - what update was it that caused this problem?

  • Brand new 5800 completely dead!

Bought the 5800 for a friend's birthday prezzie.  Charged it up for 6 hours.  Tried it out, worked perfectly.  Then left it and when I went back to it, screen was blank but lights at front lit up.  Rang Customer Services at Nokia and was told I'd overcharged it and to take out battery and sim card which I did and then put them back in again.  Worked perfectly.  Put it back in its box and have just taken it out again and it is completely dead. No lights on - nothing.  I've taken the battery and sim out and put them back in again - but nothing.  What to do?  Plse help!

Have a look at the link below for hard reset instructions.

Nokia 5230 always say connection error when trying to make a call inside the house, even with full bar of signal & 3G. Anyone else have this issue or can help me out?

    @mokrypes
This seems to be working now. I tried today to download US maps and it completed and installed without any issues. Guess there was some problem with the map server.

As farby points out if you have updated Nokia Suite it might need to establish conection again but nothing fundamentally wrong with 5230 connectivity as per screenshots:

  • When I updated to ios 5.0.1 my battery was half way full and it was charging. It started to install it and now it is completely dead (with the lightning bolt) and when i try to turn it on, i have a white screen. HELP

I have a ipod touch 4g, i just updated to ios 5.0.1 today. At the time, my battery was half way full so i had it charging. It started to install, i'm not sure if it actually did or not, but it turned off and started loading like if it were a new ipod, or like when you install new software. then the screen went blank and it restarted. it says its completely dead now but if i click the home button it turns on but goes straight to a white screen.

    - If the screen remains white, let the battery fully. After charging for an hour, try a reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    And restore as necessary,
    - If it is off try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
