Nokia 5230 ovi Maps 3.04 installer Internet connec...

Hi All,
I have read through the forums and I am still unable to to get rid of the annoying message every 20 seconds and loses the route " online connection required to enter shop?" / This occurs after I have set a route and acquired positioning.
1. I have set positioning methods to " integrated GPS"
2. I have disabled the poitioning server
3. In the maps settings screen I have set "go online at startup " to NO
I am using Ovi maps loader maps_installer_3.04_10wk17_b07_s60_5.0.Nocs.sis.
I have downloaded the latest Nokia firmware for the phone.
Any ideas on how to get rid of the annoying message ??

the problem is with the voices with street names, if you use a "normal", the volume will be a higher.
It is a known issue on betalabs

I have just bought a new C5 because of its maps and navigation features and am having the horrendous problems trying to download additional maps. The only one it comes with is for central/northern europe. I have tried using OVI suite downloaded onto my PC (Vista). That doesn't work. (Could it be that this automatically loads software for the S60 handset?).
On first using OVI Suite you do have to accept any prompts to accept synchronisation software onto device.
Irrespective of whether you can't get OVI Suite or Nokia Maploader to work you can always download Europe.zip using links in this post by ovikovi here and then decompress:
    /t5/Maps-Navigation-and-GPS/newest-Nokia-Ovi-Maps-0-1-25-114-manual-download/m-p/778870/highlight/tr...
That said it is a lot easier to overwrite E:\Cities\diskcache folders  0 - 9 and a - f using Windows PC as a bit more convoluted if using Mac although requires use of "Terminal" to merge folders.

I recently updated the my Nokia N8 software to PR1.1

. Even I had the same thought at first, so I already checked it before I sharted the topic and I even checked now just to be sure.
Yes, I CAN browse the internet, both with the Default browser AND with Opera Mobile.
Also, after I browse the net, I can confirm the data usage in the logs for each session.
But, when I use Ovi Maps, the session for "Vodafone live!" does exist in the log but the usage is 0kB (U/D).

Any particular reason for not upgrading OVI Maps to v3.06_10wk46 on your N8 as OVI Suite has been delivering this version for quite a while?
Here at my side, that update just doesn't show up in Ovi Suite.
I only see "Real Golf 2011" in the Install Device Application section of Ovi Suite.
Just to make sure, is this what you mean?

But I do not know if will be enough to stop the decline in market share of Nokia," said analyst Michael Schroeder of the FIM. (Fyk / Faw)

  • First time using "Nokia N8 Ovi Map"

    hello,
im first time using my n8 ovi map, and i wonder why it took hours for checking for my position,
after 2-3 hours of waiting, it still searching for my position. instead of keep waiting, i switch to walking mode, and set a destination, now it shows "waiting for GPS". i have been waiting for more than 1 hour, sadly it still showing "waiting for GPS". Anyone experiences this problem before? please provide me some solutions. thanks.

    @NokiN8Silver
    Welcome to the forum!
You might try as a temporary measure going to Menu > Settings > Application settings > Positioning > Positioning methods - only enable Integrated GPS then go outside away from tall buildings and it should lock on to satellites within 20 -30 minutes; once position established subsequent satellite lock on will be much more rapid.

  • Nokia 5800 ovi map in isreal ?

i wonder if free ovi maps will be
    Available
    in isreal ?

Well, first off, there is no OVI maps v10, just Ovi Maps 3.03 is the latest. When you have that, with the blue "world map" homescreen, then navigation is free.

  • Nokia N96 Ovi Maps 3.0 LMUpdateServelet?

I recently updated my maps to Ovi maps. I didn't have any purchased maps so I got driving trial.
When my trial were close the Ovi Maps complains that licence manager needs an update. Download? Of cource. From download site will  pop-up file <LMUpdateServelet> (.aspx?) Useless file which phone does not recognize. Search function does not work and I can not check my licences.
    Anyone having same problem?

Yes, this happened to me some time ago. In my case it turned out to be that another application (Quickoffice) had overwritten the licence manager with an older version that Maps doesn't like.
    See here:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=topfaq&thread.id=152
You can either follow my long-winded solution, or download the correct licence manager from Psychomania's link and reinstall it to the phone.

  • Nokia 5230 - Uninstalling maps v3.04

Would someone be able to advise me on how to remove Maps v3.04?
I already had v3.03 and thought I would try the latest version. There are some features that I am not happy with (not realising it was a beta version!!)
I then tried to downgrade to v3.03. It goes through the installation and then my phone reports Unknown error -5
I tested again - it believes I have v3.03(246) already, and again error -5.
I check in maps and the version is v3.04
    I have obviously confused matters.
Do you know how to safely remove all versions so that I can start again with v3.03? I have read a few topics where people have been able to uninstall - but then still can't get v3.03 to install. I dont want to be in that situation :-O
    Many Thanks
    Jason

    Thanks Scoobyman
I will give that a try.
    My firmware version is v20.0.005.
Maybe the threads I read were relating to when v3.04 was a beta version. I should have checked, but wasn't looking at the dates.
The first things I noticed were:
    1. When clicking on the WALK option it went back to the application menu menu a few times. Not always but a few times
    2. the GPS search bar doesn't show on the map, it now only shows 0.0kb. Not a big issue - but I liked the search bar :-)
    3. the built in GPS system seems a litte slower to connect to satelites
    4. Everytime I click on an option it asks me to connect to the internet - it does this twice each time. I am assuming there is an option to stop this, but I havent found it. I am only on pay-as-you-go so no internet connection. It just gets annoying.
If I can resolve the internet message above then I could stay with v3.04, but now that I have tried to downgrade it, I dont know if I am on v3.04 or a hybrid of the two hahaha
If all else fails I should be able to do a backup and give it a hard reset.
    Thanks
    J

  • Installation 'General Error' Nokia 5230

I cannot install the latest Ovi Maps on my Nokia 5230 as each time the installation fails with 'General Error' as the message. On clicking the blue i-button it merely says the error has occurred and instructs to try to install again. I have tried repeatedly.

Factory settings reset - Type *#7780# and the phone's lock code (Nokia default lock code is 12345). This reset restores the phone's original settings.
Soft reset/reformat - Type *#7370# and the phone's lock code.
    Warning!Soft reset wipes your C drive/phone memory!
Hard reset - Switch the phone off. Press and hold three keys together, the green key, the * key and the number '3'. While you are holding these keys, switch the phone on. Don't release these three keys before you see the NOKIA logo.
Warning! Hard reset (as soft reset does) wipes the C (phone memory) drive.
Hard reset for 5800; Press and hold green + red + multimedia button and turn the phone on at the same time.
Hard reset for N97; Press shift + space + delete and turn the phone on at the same time. Don't let the three keys before you see the NOKIA logo.
Hard reset for other S60v5 phones; press green + red + camera key and turn the phone on at the same time.

  • C6 Ovi Maps/Navi works, connecting to Nokia Accoun...

    Greetings,
The location sharing feature seems really cool and I'd like to use it with my new Nokia C6. Ovi Maps and navigation works fine for me, however it will not login my Nokia Account. That whole menu is quite buggy actually. It does not "forget my account" either, but if I click it then restart my Nokia, I can re-add my login details... then it attempts to login, but nothing happens. I left my phone to try and login all night, in the morning it still said "Connecting to Nokia Accounts.." and if I cancel it, i will have to click "forget account" and reboot nokia again to make it reappear. Several attempts didn't work though.
I've updated to both latest Symbian version and Ovi Maps.
Is there another Nokia Approved App that would let me share my location? (as often and automatic as possible)
    Thanks in Advance

I re-installed the phone's firmware and this has fixed the bug!

  • [INFO TIPS] How to survive with Ovi Maps 3.0 insta...

Quick info tips. I wanna made this post earlier but I was on few days trip so didn't have a chance... but it's good coz I was tested GPS in real touristic environment.
I'm from Europe so I don't know how all links posted below will be works for people outside Europe.
My hardware: E63 with latest firmware + external GPS module LD-4W
Everything what we do here, we do with phone connected to the PC via USB cable in PC Suite mode and with fully battery charged.
If you have Maps 2.0, everything works well for you and you payed for any of licences - better stay with that version and don't touch Ovi Maps 3.0. Waste of time and nerves.
    1. Please make phone data backup in PC Suite. Please make data backup of your memory card.
    2. Check if you have firmware upgrade for your phone (click on some icon in PC Suite). But if you have cracked Symbian and you using cracked software better stay away from firmware upgrade. There's new cracking method for newest firmwares, ask Google. I don't use it, I'm clean. If you have new firmware - update the phone.
    3. Download MapLoader - http://europe.nokia.com/explore-services/maps/download-maps/map-loader Do fresh install or update old MapLoader
    4. Bluetooth MUST BE turn in phone. Why? Ask Nokia. -_- Just kidding but unfortunately it's not funny. Without Bluetooth Ovi Maps 3.0 installed in next step (6.) is crazy as hell. Application is completly unusable, skipping, switching... one big hell on the screen. I don't know how it looks like in phones with build in GPS module.
    5. Download Ovi Maps 3.0 - http://europe.nokia.com/explore-services/maps/download-maps and update with this installer old Maps 2.0 in the phone.
    6. Run Ovi Maps 3.0 and allow to download via Internet connection in your phone (wifi, gsm, 3g) some portion of initial data - 300 or 400kB - something like that, up to 1MB maximum then disconnect from Internet. It's needed to save some file (I don't remember name) and make structure of catalogues on memory card.
    7. Leave Ovi Maps 3.0 and run MapLoader. This application is one big pain in **bleep**. Sometimes doesn't see your phone, sometimes doesn't recognize correctly your memory card size (when you are finished downloading your map/s data that stupid soft can say to you "you don't have" or something like that)... horrible! If something goes wrong - try restart your PC and phone then connect again via USB cable - still in PC Suite mode.
    8. When luckily you have maps on your phone, try to pair your phone with your GPS module via Bluetooth or turn on build in module in other models (I think it works like that?).
    9. When you will be look out for licence for walk navigation... you cannot find it. You can see only your region name (in my case it was Europe) and you have an option to buy... licenses for drivers. ROTFL!  Licence for walk navigation is "hidden option". You must go here - http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/maps-support/how-to/how-to--use-map... - it's mini FAQ how to obtain it.
What I see, there's NO MORE free trial licenses in Maps v3.0 You must pay from day one. I buyed that licence for walk navigation for 10,12E (10 euro 12 euro cents) and it's not time restricted - looks like lifetime, ofc for the phone that you use (I think). Other licenses (for drivers) are time restricted (30 days and up as I remember).
Everything works fine for me. I was over 220km away from my hometown in awesome town Wrocław and Ovi Maps 3.0 helps me A LOT with navigation and searching for monuments in this town.

Ad. 1) "...Please make data backup of your memory card."
Because maybe you must be format memory card for proper maps installation (instead upgrade from Ovi Maps 3.0 installation level old installed maps from v2.0).

I  have read somewhere that there is a proceeding to calibrate the magnetic compass on the 5230,  and my questions are:
    1) The 5230 has a magnetic compass built in it?  Where  it is documented?
    2) It is used in navigation using Ovi Maps? How and when?
    3) How I  can calibrate it, making the 360 turn, as suggested elsewhere? On what screen/menu  is the function selected?

  • N900 OVI map not available to be download..?

Can I know where to download Nokia N900 OVI map..? Because I search allots of places but I still cannot get the map..Thks..

    Hi
The way i did it yesterday, to update and install new maps, was to use the Nokia Ovi Suite on my computer, If you dont have this you can download it from a link on the Nokia site,http://www.nokia.co.uk/support/download-software/ovi-suite
Then simply open Ovi Suite on your computer, connect your N900 via USB, click on Maps on Ovi Suite, select the maps you want and download them,
The system first removes any old maps, then downloads to the computer, then transfers to N900, all very simple, but does take some time depending on how many countries you want to download. you can also add additional maps at any time,
Or you can download from the Ovi site just using your N900
Hope this helps, let me know if you require more
