Nokia 5230 v 21.0.004 phone lock problem

hi, I've recently updated my nokia 5230 to v. 21.0.004 software/firmware. After I turn off and turn it on back again, It asks for phone lock code, I entered standard code 12345, its says code error, but still I can use my phone. The phone management setting for phone lock is off, I tried to change the phone lock code, but after I re-enter the new code, it says "you've entered the wrong code five times, you can unlock in five minutes" or something like that. Is anyone have the same problem with me or have a solution for it. Thanks

if you can still access full function of your phone, reset your phone to factory setting. It is also recommended to do factory reset before formating(soft rest/hard reset) phone or firmware update. And disable phone lock. Some users reported that same code(used earlier) is not recognise by the phone after soft reset and firmware update

E90 Phone Lock Problem

Hi,
I have just downloaded the "Mail for Exchange" on my E90.
Now the phone asks for an unlock code.
There was no option to stop this and I set a basic code.
Now every 15 mins the Phone locks itself.
The option in Tools-Settings-General-Security-Phone and SIM Card-Phone autolock period cannot be changed to none or any other time other than 15 Mins.
This is really annoying as I don't wan't to lock the phone for this short period of time.
The Phone (E90) is new and manufactured in December 2007 and has the latest version of software.
Does any body know how to turn this lock off.
Also when is there going to be a software upgrade available to allow for viewing of youtube videos via the web instead of using the emTube program. The New software for the N95 allows this and the web browser on the E90 should be better.

I also believe taking it in is your only option, you really don't want to attempt yourself to risk a permanent lock, I was once in a simular situation with another phone & cause irreversable damage.

Nokia 5230 wont update

Hi I have a nokia 5230, it keeps saying the phone software needs to be updated to version number 21.0.004, but every time I start the update it just says processing for about 30 seconds then stops and doesn't do any thing, can anyone help?

Try all available options to update viz.
Via software update app installed in phone
By pressing *#0000# in homescreen and pressing options>check for update.
Via pc.
Try at a different time because sometime server may be down.
If nothing works visit your nearest nokia care, they'll do it for you.

Nokia 5230 firmware upgrading to Belle went wrong

I was trying to upgrade firmware to Belle on my nokia 5230. After upgrading my phone won't turn on there was white screen and blinks. Phone still not turning on please help anyone!!!

Nokia 5230 Lock issue

I am using a Nokia 5230 with firmware version 20.0.005. Recently I have unsubscribed my data plan and deleted all the access points in the Connectivity settings. The issue started to happen whenever i locked the phone and after some time the Select connection message comes up. I am not able to unlock the screen when this message is shown and the only solution is to remove the battery and insert it to make the phone accessible. Recently I also changed the setting of MMS connectivity and S/W update to manual, but the problem still exists. Have any one faced this issue and please let me know if there is a solution. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum!
Although you would need to backup essential data first, you could always consider resetting device to "out of box" state by keying in *#7370# on dialler followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself).

I got updation for my E7 to symbian anna. when i am trying to activate phone lock, it asking password and i tried 12345. But the phone shows incorrect password. It is the first time i am trying to enable this option. pls share other lock codes.

You may have changed your lock code , if you can't remember it then you'll need take it to your local Nokia care point. Please bare in mind that you will need back up your files first as any activities performed by a care point will potentially delete all your data.

Nokia 5230..red video light wont go off so phone w...

i unlocked a nokia 5230 from vodafone and now the red video light stays flashing and wont connect with my sim card and the screen keeps jumping

can't see how unlocking a phone would cause this.. are you sure it's not something else, like a running app ??

Nokia 5230 - locking emails

Hello, I have just got the Nokia 5230. I have put my gmail account on it so that I recieve emails straight to my phone which is great. Does anybody know if I can assign a password that needs to be typed in before I look at my email each time. I would like to do this to avoid somebody gaining access to my email if the phone gets stolen.
Also does anybody know of any free software that can convert .avi video files to a format compatable with the 5230?

Same thing here, it does not happen all the time but randomly i get my inbox cleared and i dont know why.

About phone (internal) memory of nokia 5230

I purchased nokia 5230.In that there is 80MB phone memory as written on mobile booklet,but it shows less than 20MB without any installation.
So what I do?
Where is that around 50Mb memory is in used.
If anyone knows please tell me...........

According to http://www.developer.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/5230/ the phone has:
Maximum User Storage 70 MB
ROM Memory 256 MB
RAM Memory 128 MB
In addition, it supports a max 16GB MicroSD card for storage.
The "Maximum User Storage" is = "phone memory" = C-drive. If you install apps to phone memory /C-drive, then they reduce the amount available (you say you haven't installed anything).
Also, all contacts and messages are stored there by default. If there is no memory card, then all videos, photos, themes and music go there, too. Nokia Maps also stores data there, if there is no memory card installed, I suppose.
Without more details of your particular phone and what you have there, it is hard to say what the memory has been used for in your case.

Nokia 5800XM phone lock issues

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing these problems? I searched and could not find anything relating to this.
I use the “phone lock” feature which requires you to enter a pin number in before being able to use the phone whenever it is locked. This is different from the key lock feature which just requires you to unlock by using the scroll key only. When the phone is "phone locked" the only things you can do is answer a call and snooze/turn off the alarm. Everything else requires you to enter the pin to unlock. I use this feature for obvious security reasons.
I have found two problems with this:
- Firstly, the “activate loud speaker” when answering is unavailable until you unlock the phone which can take a while and not easy to do if you are driving.
- Secondly, sometimes the alarm window for snoozing/turning-off does not work. It just hangs and I have to power off the phone. The alarm window appears under the "phone lock" window and even the buttons on the phone cannot stop the alarm. This happens occasionally and notably more often if I use the snooze.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,

It must be a faulty card. Try formatting it and see if it works. If not then you should replace it.

Nokia 5230 display distorted!

After updating to the Nokia 5230 latest firmware version (V21.0.004), whenever the mobile receives a new SMS or call the display is showing up distorted (Snapshot included as attachment, take a look!). This is happening randomly may be every 4 out of 10 occasions. Not just when receiving the call or SMS but also when i activate the touchscreen by touchin it for performing any task. I have to either lock & unlock the touch pad to regain the display or wait till the mobile goes into standby after light time-out.
Is there any option for me to revert back to the recent old firmware version (V20.0.005)?
How to get rid of this? I already tried reinstalling the latest firmware again twice but to no avail. This is the first time such an issue surfaced in my mobile usage.

Hi, unfortunately it is not possible to roll back to earlier fw.
If you've tried to reinstall the fw, there isn't much more to do other than take it to a Nokia care point as this seems to be a fault only they can repair.
I've seen quite a few posts on this matter, and some of the users reporting such faults happened after changing their displays themselvs voiding their warranty, earlier (before updating). I'm not saying that is what you've done, but just to let you know.
The " funny" thing is that this thing seems to happen often while updating, so it could of course be software related.
If youre up to it, you could perform a soft reset to clear your phonememory and start out fresh, but it's unlikely that this will helps. If you choose to do so, you will have to back up whatever you need from your phone memory as this manouver wipes contacts, messages, apps installed on the phone memory etc.
If not, you will have to see a nokia care point, and you probably have to do it anyway!

Nokia 5230 - Wish List for Next Firmware Upgrade

I'm using Nokia 5230 with the latest firmware, V 12.0.089.
The following are my wish list for the next firmware upgrade:-
1. Messaging > Sent Items: Please include short cut icons to Forward, Create New and Delete as in Inbox.
2. Log > Recent calls: Unnecessary option for Call > Voice Call.
3. Settings > Personal > Themes > Call image > Theme image: A bug with certain 3rd party theme (e.g. JustBlack - 5th theme). During lock mode, screen is totally blank during calls & alarms.
4. Settings > Application mgr. > Installed apps.: Too much application will cause an error of "Application Manager Memory full" and auto exit when selecting "Option". During error, phone memory is around 25MB, Memory Card is around 2.5GB/4GB.
5. Ovi Map > Drive / Walk > Set Destination: Please do an icon based UI for History, Favourite, Search & From Map. The list is to small to click on to (when driving) :-)
6. Organize > Please include multiple selections. E.g. Mark/Unmark > Mark / Mark All. Easy to move multiple applications at once to any folder.
That's all for now i guess. By the way, Nokia rocks!!

How to add password to nokia 5230 mobile?

Menu-->Settings-->Phone-->Phone Management-->Security-->Phone and SIM Card-->and set the LOCK CODE...
Default lock code is 12345.
Note that if you forget the Code then you will have to get it reset to the default code ONLY at Nokia Care..and there will be charges incurred for the service. You also tend to lose all your data during this Reset..so keep regular back-ups..

Availability of updates depend on Product Code and Region.. also if the phone is Network locked. the update is possible only after an approval from the Operator...
