Nokia 5310 - key lock problem

I really like this phone but the only problem Im having is when Ive locked the keys (Menu + * key) Im sometimes finding it very slow to unlock as the screen seems to freeze. I have to repeatedly press the central menu key hard until the screen sparks back to life, then i can unlock the keypad again. Im sure this cant be right. Anyone else noticed this?
My firmware is 5.82

I am having the same problem. I want to eliminate the my 5310 Nokia from automatically locking the keys every 45 seconds, it really sucks having to press the unlock. I can't find the solution in the owners manual, so I am trying to
find the answer to remove the key lock. I cannot use a phone if all it does is puts on a keylock automatically.
Can you help me if you find the answer to remove the automatic keylock? I want to eliminte this.

Nokia 5310 is locked

Hi,
All the factory setting of my Nokia 5310 have been restored. Since then when I switch ON my phone I'm asked to create a new security code, that I do and confirm, but the phone remains locked. The keyboard is not activated, but I can receive a call.To OFF my phone I need to remove the battery because no key is activated. Whenever I ON my phone I'm asked to create a new security code. Can someone have any idea that will help me fix this phone? I've bought it 8 months ago.

I've tried this default code 12345 but it is not working. Yhe problem is that, when I switch on the phone, a I'm requested to create a new code that should have between 5 to 10 digits. What ever code you enter it will be accepted) but when you confirm the code it shows you that the phone is locked, the key board is not activated,but you can receive a call. I don't know if somebody faced this issue in the past or have the solution.

Nokia 5310 - Display freeze problem

Hi,
I got a new Nokia 5310 last week and its doing great and i like it a lot, except for the following problem..
Problem description:
I find the phone display freezed and become grey and stopped responding to any keys..
this happened first time (on day two) with low battery and then started observing it frequently now (once in two days), when the phone is left with screen saver..,
at this state, when a call is made to phone, caller can hear the phone is ringing, but the phone is still dead..,
the only way to correct this is, remove the battery and reboot the phone.,
Query:
before going to nokia care centre, will this be a firmware bug (based on reported problems) or hardware bug(specific to my handset)??

N97 mini key lock problem

Hi there NSeries experts!
I couldn´t find a topic related to my question,
so here´s my post:
I´ve got a little problem with my N97 mini
(type "RM-555" software-version: "11.0.102"):
The key lock button at the side of the phone
does not work properly in my eyes.
Sometimes - yes, it does not show up every
time you use it, only in about 50 % of usage -
when you use the button it works "back and
forth". That means, if you wanna lock the phone
it gets locked and then directly unlocked again,
although the button has only been used once.
Same thing sometimes the other way round:
The phone is locked, the button is used, the
phone unlocks and directely locks itself again.
It is not the worst bug I can imagine but after
a while it is quite annoying.
Does anyone have an idea what this is all
about? Do you think it is more likely some
hardware defect or rather more a software
bug?

Then if you want to try everthing before going to nokia, first try reset *#7370# , backup your data first. Still no success? Reflash with same firmware version via NSU. (back up your data in both cases)

N70 Auto key-lock problem

I have got an auto key-lock on my phone, however I stupidly changed it and now I cant remember it. I can still receive in coming calls but cant get to any of my phone's main features. I hope you can help. Kind Regards, Gemma.

Anyway, I'd recommend you take it to your nearest Nokia Service Centre
Take some proof of purchase if you can.

Forgot Nokia 5310 Key unlock code

i have forgotten the code which unlocks my nokia 5310 keypad
i really need some help because i can't do anything without it.
Also if it helps i of course have all the items that came with it usb, instructions,etc
if i left anything out please ask, because i really need to get it unlocked (preferably at home rather than taking it somewhere)

I'm afraid there's nothing you can do as an end-user. If there was, the security code would be of little use...
Your only options are:
1) remember the security code, or
2) Take the phone to a Nokia Care Point, where they can reset the security code.
Note that the NCP will want to see documents proving that you are the owner of the phone and that is isn't one you "borrowed" or "found" somewhere. An invoice showing the phone's IMEI and your name, and photo ID are what's required usually.

Key lock problem!!!

I accidently pressed the key lock button and now my ipod is locked. I have NOOOO idea what my pass was and now I can't open my ipod. Please HELP!!

Restore it in iTunes and it will clear the lock. Then Resync.

5800 key lock problem during phone calls - firmwar...

See previous post that is marked as solved, but is not solved in my case.
I am using Mail for Exchange, my company forces the phone to lock after 10 minutes of idle time.
When I get a phonecall when the phone is locked, there is no way that you can have access tto normal phonecall functions as <Mute> and <Speaker> during a phonecall. And you can not unlock without breaking the call..
Yes when you receive a call ther is a green <answer> and a blue <unlock> slider. Howvever when swipng the <unlock> you can only choose between <answer> and <reject> and there is [Option] that gives you access to <answer> or <reject> aswell.
In other words no access to phone functions, No way you can activate the speaker on the phone when you were called while the phone was locked. This is quite useless and in my opinion a design flaw.

whats stupid that your company has locked the phone in some way?
back up your data and reformatt the phone if you wish this should remove the lock (where ever they got it from we would like to know)
this will take your phone back to out of box condition
try these code below
. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for all operations listed here is 12345
2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone
3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working.If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. )

Nokia 5800,key pad problem

The key pad is set to lock after 1 min, sometimes it doesn`t . it happened 3 times and only if I restart the phone, it gets to normal. Is my phone defective. Should I return it?

What firmware version is on your 5800? If note the latest, try upgrading to see if it fixes the issue.
If not, then contact a Nokia repair center or the retailer/operator from where you bought it.

kumar007in, you have to push that button for a second (rather long) while your are within a call, not before the call. Did that help?

Nokia 5310 headphone jack problem

When i insert any headphones to the phone its not recognised. The headphone icon on top does not appear but the screen lights. What might be the problem?

Thanks for your post and sorry to hear of your issue.
Make sure the headphone jack is clean and there is no dirt or fluff in the jack. If you can get a small pin give the inside of the jack a clean to make sure nothing is in there. Then try to reinsert your headphones and see if this works.
If the problem persists and you have made sure the jack is clean and nothing in there then check to see if you have the latest software version installed. You can do this by using Nokia suite to check for updates. If no update exists then try to reinstall your current firmware. You can find a link to Nokia suite and guides on the below link:

KEY LOCKING problem after updating to belle in e6

after updating to belle, it is difficult to unlock/lock using the trigger... Suppose if the phone is locked, when the trigger i locking pulled, it unlocks for a second and gets locked again.

Reinstall the Firmware and check. I am not ssure about the compatibility, but if you re-install using the NSU may give better results.
Pl. post the results after you do this..

It's not possible to add the language pack yourself.
What you need to do is take your phone to a nokia care point and they will be able to add the pack for you. They will also be able to explain to you why the language was lost.

Nokia 5310 Temperamental Navigation Key

I have had a Nokia 5310 Music Xpress phone for about a month and overall I love it and think its a great phone! Not only can I listen to all the music I want on it but also read any pdf ebook I want thanks to some great Java utilitys. (Apologies for the mini review but I really am enamored with this mobile :-)
But recently its developed an annoying problem. When I intially start using the phone the navigation key (the one in the middle) want function when I press it down or right! I usually have to be pressing buttons for a few minutes or so before these directions start to work.
I'm therefore assuming its not a hardware fault but anyone know what could be the matter and more importantly how I can fixs it?

its ok mate, i understand the fear when your phone doesn't work properly or suddenly stops working eep . anyways, since there is no other surefire way to clear the slate the phone works with as yours is a Series40 phone, the only thing you can do now is to take your phone to a local Nokia Care Centre. maybe the contacts are misaligned with the keys (sorry, attempting a technical explanatoin here ), i had the same problem with an old samsung mp3 player. the centre key was a joystick and after too much usage, it becomes so mashed and misaligned that can't select up/down and right accurately and correctly most of the time.
however, there is also the possibility that it still may be something to do with the firmware. often Series60 phones have firmware updates that improve the reliability of the soft-key selections, so it could be something along the lines of that too. but only definite way to check is to take your phone to your Nokia Care Centre. sorry to hear that its stilll not working properly
