Nokia 5310 - only number buttons work

i have had a nokia 5310 since october, and in november i dropped it in water, but dried it out, and up until now it has been working fine. went to use it yesterday, and it wouldnt unlock, as the 'menu' button wasnt working. i turned my phone off, and turned it back on fine, and i was able to use it for about 5 mins before it stopped working again. I left the battery out overnight, turned it on this morning, and all the buttons worked fine, however after about an hour the top buttons stopped working again. This afternoon, again, it all seemed to be fine, but the the top set of buttons have stopped working, meaning i cannot do anything with my phone.
would you say this problem is related to the water damage, and if so how would they know?  if i had to pay for the repair, how much would it cost to get it fixed (roughly!)?
its really weird because its not a continous breakage as sometimes the buttons work, so im unsure what is wrong with my phone
thanks so much for any help/advice!

it would be water damaged inside the phone is corroding slowley you could send it to a nokia care centre but you could possibly get it back saying damaged beyond economic repair meaning it would cost more to repair then get a new one, this may depend on the kind of warranty you have in your country,
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Nokia 5310...Nothing works basically

I had received a Nokia 5310 about 2 weeks ago, and I'm noticing a plethora of problems that are making it hard to enjoy this phone.
I have tried contacting T-Mobile, and they actually told me to go to Nokia for help... So I'm being led in circles.
My 5310 cannot connect to anything. While I get a decent signal, it will not connect to any instant messenger service first off.
Secondly, it will not let me read any email when I connect to the email applications. I've tried AOL, Yahoo, and Gmail, and none of the three work at all.
I have tried resetting to factory settings, and it does nothing basically.
I have also been having problems with mms messages. I apparently received one, and now every time my phone tries to receive the message, it goes white, and shuts off. I was able to find a dead spot and wait for the sent message to fail and delete it, but that's just a big annoyance, and I've had to tell everyone to stop sending me anything but small sms messages.
Anyone else have these problems? I'm at a loss and my box was destroyed so returning it is out of the question.

Hey! I was having the same problem with mms messaging, but my phone only stayed-on if it was on a call.
Ex: I was getting an email [mms] message, but instead of receiving the message my phone would turn white and die. (Like yours did.)
So, I called my cell phone with a regular land-line phone which made the phone stay "alive" until the email was received [actually, until I got the "failed" message".] I think maybe the email was too much for the memory on my phone? I'm not sure.
But anyway, If you go onto www.mytmobile.com you can change the settings of your phone to not receive emails.
It's under "COMMUNICATION TOOLS" under "EMAIL" Then set-up your "EMAIL FILTERS" to "DO NOT RECIEVE EMAILS TO PHONE"
Sometimes when you sign-in to Tmobile it will have a grey box on the right-hand side that says "RESOURCES". You can find a "CHANGE EMAIL FILTERS" link there, too.
    Good luck!

I was looking at the few photos I have in "media" when my handheld froze on one of the photos. None of my buttons work, I can only turn it on or off. Any ideas on how to bring my fainted palm back to life? Thanks.

  • Nokia E52 - Default number not working on Firmware...

    Hi,
Just bought Nokia E52. When I select  default number among some number for a contact, it still asks me to choose number while calling or sending a message. Sometime it asks, and sometime it does not.
When will we get a fix for this ?
    Regards,
    Tamour

This is a classic problem on these new FP2 phones. I had the same problem with my N96.
You'll need to have a memory card inserted for this and you'll have to re-populate your contact groups afterwards, but the solution is to go into your contacts and then:
    Options > Mark/Unmark > Mark all
Options > Copy business card > To other memory > memory card
This exports a bunch of VCF files to the memory card.
Next, delete all the contacts from your address book
    Options > Mark/Unmark > Mark all
    Press 'C' and confirm.
Now re-import the contacts from the memory card:
Options > Copy business card > From other memory > memory card
This will re-import all your contacts and it will now be possible to assign defaults.

  • Nokia 5310 Media Functionality Not Working

None of the functionality under the "Media" section is working. That is the camera, video, radio, voice recording etc
These are the 2 things that happen:
    1) The menu doesn't get activated OR
    2) The phone restarts
I have taken it to the Nokia Care centers and they said there was some loose connection. Kept it for a month. It worked for a day and now back to square one.
Does anyone know what else to do?
    Please help

why they (nokia centre) didnt service your phone?
are they already try something or you just ask question?
if its under warranty i think that should be fixed by them.
    any other suggestion guys?

  • Nokia 5310 - Headphones not working, only speaker ...

    Hi all,
Am I missing something blatantly obvious??  I've just unwrapped my new 5310, plugged in a standard set of headphones (not the nokia ones) - but no sound comes out of them, just through the phone speaker
Should it work with any headphones, or am I tied to using Nokia ones?  Headphones are OK and work everywhere else.
Also, when I plug in the headphones it displays: "Enhancement not supported"
    Help please!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Nokia 5310 has a standard 3.5mm stereo jack. So, theoretically it is possible to plug in any headphone having a compatible header. In your case, I guess the connector on the headphone is a bit longer, and because of that, it might be missing the contacts inside the jack. Pull out the connector sligthly, or press it in a bit, and see if it helps. Also, try a different set of earphones too, to confirm that your jack is working fine.

  • SUBMIT button works only when clicked twice... Online interactive form

    Hi,
I have created a interactive form with SubmitToSAP button. In this I will enter a contract number and will click SUBMIT button.
For the first time it is fetching the contract details properly.
In the same form, i am changing  the previously entered value with another contract number and clicking SUBMIT.
Now the details for the previously entered contract number is only displayed. Again if i try for the same value ( which i used for the second time )  and press submit, it is workin correctly.
So, the problem is, except for the very first time SUBMIT button action, the button works fine only when clicked twice..
please help me in solving this issue..
    Regards,
    Surya.

    Hi,
In addition to my previous post, I am also using RESET FORM button from Library.
First I am entering the contract number (say 400000000) in the form and clicking submit button. The contract details are fetched and displayed in the form.
Now i am Resetting the form using Reset Button, and giving new contract number (say 400000020).  When  I pressed Submit button , the details of the first entered contract number (400000000)  is coming.
Then again I am giving 400000020 or any other number, it is fetching the details correctly for that number...
Can anyone help me in this issue..
    Thanks,
    Surya.

  • Getting Nokia 5310 to work with iTunes 7 for Mac O...

    Hey everyone,
Just thought I'd post this to help out. I had a lot of trouble getting the 5310 music library to recognize the track & album names from the mp3's I sent over to the phone.
To get the 5310 to recognize your iTunes tracks, you need to follow a few steps:
    1. The files need to be in the right format. The 5310 doesn't recognize mp4 files from the Apple Music Store. How to get around this? Back up your purchases to a CD. Then reimport the CD as mp3's. Then you have a duplicate copy of your album, except in mp3 (MPEG-1) format.
    2. The ID3 tags in the mp3's need to be adjusted. When you use iTunes to import tracks from the CD, it uses ID3 v2 tags for artist name, album name, etc. That's no good, because the 5310 only recognizes ID3 v1. You need to download an ID3 editor to change this, such as ID3 Editor for OS X. It'll let you change things in batches, i.e., for an entire album all at once, so this is not as onerous as it sounds. www.pa-software.com
    3. Get the Nokia Multimedia Transfer utility for Mac. europe.nokia.com/A4423135
    4. Allow the nokia util to make iTunes folder transfers (it'll ask).
    5. Make playlists, and then dump them into the transfer folder you would have created at step 4 above.
    6. Connect your phone by USB using the "PC Suite" setting and off you go.
I had everything pretty much figured out quickly except step 2 -- when the 5310 recognized no artist or album names except Radiohead In Rainbows, that was the clue that iTunes / Apple Music Store must be coding their files differently....

Moments after making the original post, my new ipod mysteriously started to sync and play video podcasts, and I don't know what I did to get it working!
Is there an FAQ or primer on downloading and watching video on iPod? It's clear that I don't understand the machine and how it works with iTunes...
    Thanks

when i export my file to an interactif pdf, only a few buttons work what is wrong?

The receiver connects via USB. I can open powercinema and navigate through the menu but it is when i select tv it gets all messed up. The volume buttons are what change the channel, the pictures button is mute, power button, the number keys and close button work fine and that is jus about all the buttons that work. The option to use the remote as the mouse works fine also but that is a bit slow and jerky.
    Any ideas?

  • Only the top row of buttons works on the aluminun wireless keyboard

After returning my first wireless keyboard for not pairing with my iMac (which has all the right tech specs) I exchanged it for a new one. Initially, I was able to type letters and numbers only and many of the keys were not doing the task they were supposed to--the F12 keys ejected CDs and the eject button did nothing. I went to the Apple icon and downloaded all of the new updates that showed up, restarted my computer and then suddenly, the eject button worked! But, when I tried to type letters and numbers, nothing happened. My computer recognizes it and the top row of buttons works just fine.

the same has happend to me, it's a new wireless keyboard, and from the moment i paired them only the to row (f1,f2....eject) buttons are working.

  • Nokia x3 help! menu button works for lock but not ...

i have a new nokia x3, around 2 months old, after restarting the phone one time, the main button (the menu button) works for locking/unlocking and even makes the keytone sound when you press it, but i cant open up the menu, its really annoying because without the menu i cannot access the phone!
i can still make calls/text messages, but i really want to fix this.
    thanks in advance

just to clarify, the menu button works such as when i slide the phone closed, the 'lock' option appears, and the button works then, but when i unlock, i goes back to the usual 'menu' option which just doesnt work.
i can use text/calls from the shortcut buttons such as left/down/right and some buttons work on in certain places, such as when the 'send' option appears for sending a text.
i have tried to soft reset  using the code, before, and i have tried restarting it.
none of them worked, does anyone have a solution, also does anyone know the hard reset code?
    thanks in advance.
