Nokia 5530 Message Counter?

Does the Nokia 5530 have a message counter, which gives you the ability to see how many messages have been sent and recieved from the mobile in total?

No, but if you sync messages and contacts on Ovi suite on a regular basis all messages are stored there and can be viewed as conversations.

Nokia 5530 messaging update issue

not sure if it was mentioned before bu ive experienced a new issue (new to me). i updated my firmware to v20 and then got an update of nokia messaging (to version 10.1). after the update was applied, when i reply to any text message i have to wait about 20 seconds to start typing a message. it's HUGE delay! it was ok before the update, i'm not sure if it's firmware's fault or messaging 10.1 update's fault. any ideas?

Thanks for your post and welcome to the Nokia forums!
Please hard reset again and update your phone's software to get rid of the errors.
Make sure you make a back up first with Nokia Suite before you hard reset the device. You can do this by going to Tools > Back up. Don't tick the Settings box when doing so as this will backup the errors.
Once the phone has rebooted, connect it to Nokia Suite again and click on the green arrow to update the software. If no update is available you will be able to reinstall the current one, this option is displayed in blue.

Nokia 5530 Messaging Problem Pls help !!!!11

i cannot recieve messages unless i take out my battery and start up the phone again. when i start up my phone again im not notificated about recieving a message unless i go into massages and then there is a red star, and the time the message is recived comes up. eventhough i didnt recieve the message untill i restarted my phone

You may try changing the Destination folder for message storing to Phone Memory for some time and see if the problem continues. If the problem is resolved this way then you need to delete those messages from the Memory Card too.. You can have it stored n PC if you really need them..

i have tried evrything from my nokia 5530. i have switched it off and turned it on i have sufficeint credit and i have even updated my software but even after that i am not able to send text msgs however i am able to recieve them. please help!!!

Hi all!
I bought my (first) Nokia smartphone in January this year: Nokia 5530.
Since then, no updates was released for my device.
Nokia forget 5530 as like 5800. Now only C / E series, N8, N9, and low-price like 52xx.
Recently new update was released for C6, 5230 and 5233 devices with Ovi Maps 3.06, Browser 7.3 Anna-like, Emoticons input, general improves and more.
Now, my Nokia 5530 is very poor and forgeted:
Don't have widgets, don't support IM for Nokia (i tested it and loved), Nokia Browser is terrible, and others resource is very obsolete.
I saw the C6, the images/videos viewer is very much better, you can categorize with folders, favorite photos, and music player now support lyrics.
Days ago I installed a C6 port to 5530 (I transformed my 5530 in C6), and now my device has widgets, IM for Nokia and all i mentioned in here, but in very lag, the "Memory is full, close some apps and try again" message appears all time, much bored. Then I back yesterday to original firmware 32.0.0.7. I also have put in ALL MUSICS (300+) image covers and lyrics to use in cfw, but now in original don't have this, and I much sad.
What I want?
Want that Nokia don't forget users, because my first smartphone made my a Nokia lover, and I liking this. But i don't have money to buy a new smartphone (i want N8) because here in Brazil (where I live) is much expensive price.
Well, please Nokia, release a nice update for us Nokia 5530 users, even if not with widgets support, but with IM for Nokia, new browser/Ovi maps, lyrics support in Music Player, More organized images/videos viewer and more stabilities and improvements in cinetic scroll, etc.
I love Nokia and want to continue loving.

The 5530 is an older device than the C6. The 5800 wasnt exactly forgotten, but its normal for nokia phones to lose updates once the unit is about a year and a half to two years old. The 5530 is almost two years old already (it will turn two this august), so its not unusual that it wont receive updates anymore.
Its not exactly Nokia's fault that you bought an outdated phone.

Nokia 5530 Xpress Music firmware update not findin...

Apparently theres a V20 update for the nokia 5530 Xpress Music phone, but when i look for updates for it. it says latest firmware is V11. So how do i get this new firmware version, because ive been getting alot of problems with version 11?

A problem with Nokia 5530 wirmware updating! Help!

I have meat the problem with Nokia 5530 firmware updating: updating allways finish with the message "Downloading of the variant package failed.Most probably there is non-commercial software in your device."
Is there any solution for that problem?

Its posible that it can be caused by a bad, slow or instable internet connection.

Nokia 5530 Receives Pictures That Are Too Small

I have a Nokia 5530 and when I get a picture message it comes out really small. This is really frustrating as I sometimes like to save the pictures on my computer. My previous phone was a Nokia 5300 and the pictures I received on this phone were a lot bigger. Is there anything I can do allow my phone to receive bigger pictures?

I just signed up as I'm having the same problem with my N79.
There very little out there for this problem.
First make sure that in your message options the 'Image Size' is set to 'Large'
I've done that on my N79 but there is another reason that i'm getting such small msg's;
From the research I've done it seems it's down to the mobile operator (In my case o2).
When you recieve a picture message the message centre looks at your handset and looks at the information it has on its database.
As o2 doesn't list my N79 as a supported handset its msgcentre doesn't have information on what the maximum supported resolution is.
As it can't resolve what size msg the phone can receive it sends it on as the smallest possible, good for wide-range handset compatibility but bad for my picture msg size which come down at a weeny 5kb!

Hey there, Guyz am using a Nokia 5530 XpressMusic I updated it to the recently released firmware update. The Update went through perfectly fine and after the update finished and The Nokia Software Updater gave the message that your phone has been successfully updated I removed it from charging and then removed the USB cable, but it wont turn on. I really have not a single clue what to do. Please tell me a way to restore it back to its previous state and dont tell me to Take it to a Nokia Care centre as I would be charged (probably) for a mistake that I have'nt committed at all went through well it is just that in the end the result was something that I was'nt expecting. Your Help would be much appreciated.

Nokia 5530 not turning on

hello i am new to the fourms
i have a nokia 5530 xpressmusic
untill now it had been working fine but now every time i try to turn it on the screen is black and it vibrates for a moment
i have tried the call button hangup button combination and that doesnt work
als please do not send me to put in the 7330 number combination or the * 3 call button combination because it is a touch screen and it doesn't light up
sometimes it vibrates a bit longer but it just doesnt work

Did you confirm that the batteryis having sufficient charge ? Connect the charger and leave it charging for an hour. Then try switching ON without disconnecting the charger.
If problem remains, have you considered trying a new battery ?

Might be buying nokia 5530

Hey,
I might be buying nokia 5530 tomorrow,since my old nokia N95 was broken.
I'm planning to buy the pay as you go, on nokia 5530 as its much cheaper and i;ve used orange since i was quite young, and when i had my first phone.
Previously i had a orange pay as you go on nokia n95, but it was quite slow and caused the phone to crash. Will this happen to the nokia 5530? I heard orange mess the phones up.
I'm not sure if i should buy nokia 5530, as it lacks of 3G. Can anyone explain what 3G is? Do i need it when surfing the internet? I mainly check my facebook really.

HELP! i cant make calls on my NOKIA 5530.

i bought my 5530 xpressmusic a couple of weeks ago. and it works just fine with me. until last week, the network operator logo at the top of homescreen disappeared as well as the date and my current profile setting. the only thing left at the top is the signal bar, time, and the battery bar.
my friends call me often and i seem to have no problem with taking incoming calls, so i just left my homescreen that way. last night, when i tried to call my mom's phone an error showed up and it says "Emergency Calls Only".
i must've accidently clicked something to make it that way, but i dont know what.
please please help me. i love love love my nokia 5530.
what should i do?

try removing battery for ten mins then try a soft reset the code is *#7370# security code 12345 back up any data you wish to keep such as contacts etc
before that may i ask have you removed the sim card or did the phone get a knock have you contacted your operator?

Nokia 5530 Turns off when making a call

I have a real problem, my Nokia 5530 turns off if I try to make a call or receive one, the only way it will work is if the headset is pluggeed in, I have tried everything, Restoring Factory settings, Hard reset etc...
Anyone else have this problem? Help...

I have exactly the same problem. I Went to a Nokia Care Point in Lisbon and they upgraded the firmware to the New one ( 11.0.054 ), but with no success.
I tried old SIM Cards, Newest SIM Cards, With / Without Memory Card, Factory Settings, nothing Worked. I Guess it´s probably hardware, maybe a faulty battery.
I ´ll have to send it to repairment..it´s really upsetting.

Nokia 5530 XM, phone software issues/headaches

Hello,
I got my 5530 XM around 2 months ago. It was my first Nokia (been a Sony Eric fan for over 5 years). Anyway i liked its touch interface and all.
But then i noticed the phone would restart (reddish/grayish horizontal lines leading to a white screen and then reboot) on average once/twice a day randomly.
I used the nokia update software to get the latest firmware, with that applied, the restarts frequency was decreased. But around 3 weeks ago, i noticed th phone would become unresponsive at times. Like i'd click on a menu item and i'd hear the small vibration of the force feedback, but nothing would launch, in such situations the phone won't respond to any touches, other than lock/unlock slide key and the turn on/off switch.
The only way to get out of that is to restart the phone. But this unresponsiveness is really annoying. I also did a re-install of the firmware from the nokia-software-updater 2 days ago, but the phone still gets stuck in unresponsive state. Sometimes you get unresponsiveness while you're receving a call. You can click all you want to accept the call but nothing would happen. sometimes i have to remove the phone cover and take out the battery and then put it back in and start the phone again to make things go back to normal.
Other than that, at times i'm unable to launch the camera. Its such an embarassment to be a nokia users, 2,3 times at party with friends i had to take some pictures with my NEW NOKIA 5530 and i noticed the camera wouldn't launch (From applications > Camera), there is the small circle on top of the camera icon (that appears for minimized applications), but clicking the icon does nothing.
Even restarting the phone doesnt help.
My phone is still within its 10/12 month warranty period. but i'm truly disappointed in nokia's software. Can someone please help me fix this problem? i've never faced any software issues with my other brand fones and i really love the touch feature of this phone and the interface but the UnTested Operaing System from Nokia is really becoming a headache for me.
Being a software engineer myself, it makes me wonder if there is any quality assurance going on in software departments at nokia. I remember watching a Nokia video on youtube showing how nice and long their hardware quality assurance tests were > which lead me to buying nokia 5530 as my next phone, but this software, it makes me dislike the phone more every passing day
