Nokia 5530 text to speech feature help

Its mentioned in the specifications for 5530 that it has a text to speech feature. Can anybody tell me how to use it..???

Thank you for emailing Nokia Care.
It is true that the technical specifications does list the Text to speech as one of the applications installed on the Nokia 5530XM. You may refer to your user guide under the term 'Message reader' as well. Please open your applications folder and browse for your Text to speech folder.
Settings are required prior to using the feature as in the language, voice and the voice settings. Upon completing these settings, you can simply pick up a message from your inbox, select Options and Read.
Should you not have the software in your phone, please download it from the following link. If the Nokia 5530XM is not listed, you can select any of the other XM phones but series 60 like the 5800XM

so downloaded software and voice package but still no joy-nothing in the extended user guide on the Nokia web site
the key appears to be the 'text to speech' icon in the applications folder which I don't have on my 5530 phone ( very helpful chap at CFW cant find it either)

Actually, there is a small workaround.
It isn't the same as an audiobook, but it does the job.
Go to Settings>General>Accessubility>Voiceover>
I would suggest settkng the speed to slower cnsiderng you
are gong to read books.
Anyway turn voice oier on.
You'll have to double tap everything since Voiceover sais everything you tap once.
Anyway, once you're n the book, just tap the text and boom.
I use ths on websites where there are a kit of text,
You see, this feature is for those who are vision impaired or blind.

Nokia E72 Text to Speech Speakerphone Volume

Does anyone know how to increase the volume on the speakerphone with regard to the text to speech engine on the Nokia E72. It is too low and I cannot hear any notifications or messages being read to me.

use the volume key at side of phone its not very loud in any case
you can select options when its playing and look in settings there also but at that its still not high

Text To Speech feature request

I'm listening music through original iphone4 headset. When I recieve a call I used to get iPhone from my pocket to see who's calling me. So it would be nice if iPhone could say me who is calling. Something like "Incoming call from Jonh Smith" and then ringtone. Only when headset is used.

Nokia 5530 Shuts down itself - Need help

Hi
Did anyone experience this? My 5530 would shuts down itself anytime during a call.
Could be either during a received call or dialed out call.
Could be right after the call is connected, or few mins after the call is connected
I have been using it for half a year without any problem. It just started to go nuts this week.

Ok, what I would do is to update if possible : http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/device-software-update/can-i-update, or/and soft reset and format the memorycard.
(remember to back up anything you want, - But I would try not to backup more than contacts, messages and music and pics - as you might can take the problem with you. Likely - it's not a software issue as you said it been behaving fine for half a year.
Have you installed any apps lately right before the issues started?
If you cannot figure it out - I would take it to a Nokia care point as it might be a hardware fault.

Nokia 5530 Homepage, with missing features

When I turn my phone to the home screen theme/shortcuts, it fails to show the music player, radio and calendar. I have tried ticking and unticking all the boxes, but it only ever shows my shortcuts, and the search.
Is this a know problem on this phone? I have just installed the latest firmware also, but this was happening before.

I recently brought this phone and after loading many downloaded applications and themes to my via USB Cable, I found out later that I was missing the shortcuts to my home screen on my phone. I had only had this phone for 1 day at this time and was really fustrated as to whether this was because of the way I used it or whether it was due to the lack of manufacturing and notice by Nokia.
Searching the internet for numerous hours, I was brought to a reasonable conclusion of this very annoying problem. I was looking at different people who had encountered this very same problem and found out it is to do with one removing the USB from the computer in an inpropper manner. ie. Not disconnecting the USB properly via "Safely Remove Hardware"
?RESOLUTION?
I am glad to tell you that I have found a brilliant resolution to this problem with its pros and cons, sadly. The good thing about this is that your phone will be working after the process but you will lose all your settings, data on the phone and any other methods of saved files. Bearing in mind that this process here could well fix your phone as it did to mine and can esure that you will be happy with the results. This resolution is known has a HARD RESET OF A HANDSET. Sounds special don't it? Well it is...
So basically, on the home screen, you have lost use of the shortcuts, telephone and contacts button on the either side of the bottom screen handset, right?
Ok, heres how to do it...
> Firstly, You must open up the clock by either opening up the menu, opening aplications and then opening up the clock.
> Secondly, While on the application, clock, you must press the call (green button) on the bottom left of the handset. This will amazingly bring up a dialer display (telephone).
> Thirdly, you must enter "*#7370#" (without the quotes) After typing that a popup screen will appear asking you to enter a password. Nokia Lumina 1020 New update feature help

Hi There,
My Lumina 1020 updated to windows 8.1 yesterday and i've realised that when my phone is locked and is just a black screen showing the time that it no longer shows a little notification when i have a text, a email or missed call.
I have looked at the settings and it says show notifcations banners but this doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to get this back on as i have to physically unlock the phone and look to see if i have any.

First make sure that all your system apps are up to date, you can use a free app like Lumia System Updater or similar to check that.
Then check your settings under Settings > Lock Screen > Choose apps to show quick status and also Settings > Glance > Glance Screen info > lock screen notifications
And finally, it's Lumia, not LumiNa.

Hi all, I'm currently using a volume license registered version of Captivate 4. Would like to utilize text-to-speech feature, but whenever I try to enable, a download window pops up, I click it, and it directs me to a "buy captivate 5" webpage. Can anyone provide me with a working URL to download the text-to-speech files for Captivate 4? Also would like instructions on how to proceed after download. Thanks!

Text to Speech Dictionary Editing

Hey everybody. I'm confused and could stand some help from my fellow Captivators. I'm trying to edit the user dictionary in the text to speech feature of Captivate 4. I saw the blog post at http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2009/03/customizing_text_to_speech_pro.html. I find that the path specified in the post for the dictionary does not exist on my machine, but there are two parallel paths, one for Kate and one for Paul at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 4\VT\Kate\M16\data-common\userdict and C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 4\VT\Paul\M16\data-common\userdict. In playing with this, it appears to me that Paul uses Kate's userdict_eng.csv. But he has his own dictionary in the above path. If I edit the dictionary in Paul's path, then re-launch Captivate, none of the pronunciation changes take place. But if I edit Kate's dictionary, then re-launch Captivate, the new pronunciation is spoken by both Kate and Paul. ????
Am I seeing the right thing here? If so, it would appear that I should always edit Kate's dictionary and ignore Paul's??? Or am I completely off the mark?

Is is possible that after you edited Kate's dictionary you performed another action that caused both to be read in? You might try this by further editing Paul's and seeing if the changes take effect or if it only happens after you also edit Kate's.

Text to Speech does not appear to be working in the new version of Pages

I have tried several ways to get the text to speech feature to work with the new version of Pages, but haven't yet had success. I use that feature in editing my articles alot, so I guess I'll stick with Pages 09 for now.

Slow down text to speech voice

I am using text to speech on Captivate 4. Essentially, I love the text-to-speech feature; however, sometimes the voice is just too fast. I do not want to add pointless punctuation because I use the same text for the Closed Captioning. Does anyone know how to slow down the voice (Paul) so people actually can follow what he is saying.

Adobe implemented VTML in Captivate 4, which is a mark up language for Text to Speech.
It looks something like this (The color added for emphasis):
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet \pause, consectetur \speed=30 adipisicing elit \speed=50 \pause, sed do eiusmod tempor \speed=30 incididunt \pitch=20 ut
The \pause, creates a half second pause and and a \pause. creates a full second pause
The \speed= changes the speed for all the text that comes after the tag in that segment. In this case I took it down to 30 and then brought it back up to 50 before the pause and then down again at the end.
Thte \pitch= changes the pitch of the speech. I made it very deep at the end.
Here's a more in depth explanation of some of these tage, taken from the Adobe Captivate blog:
The following commands allow the quality of the output voice to be controlled by modifying its rhythm, intonation, volume and timbre. The output speech is modified from the word following the command, up until the end of the prompt.
Speed Control: Allows the speaking rate to be modified, expressed in an abstract scale 0-100.
\speed=<num>
Example:
\speed=60 (Scale 0-100)
\speed=60 This text is read at a faster speed.
Pitch Control: allows the fundamental frequency (tone or pitch) to be modified, expressed in an abstract scale 0-100
\pitch=<num>
Example:
\pitch=60 (Scale 0-100)
\pitch=60 This text is read at a 60Hz frequency rating.
Volume Control: allows the volume (loudness) to be modified, expressed in an abstract scale 0-100 or in decibels (dB).
\volume=<num>
Example:
\volume=60 (Scale 0-100)
\volume=60 This text will be read at a 60 decibel rating.
Timbre Control: allows the voice timbre to be modified by a shift in frequency, expressed in an abstract scale 0-100.
\timbre =<num>
Example:
\timbre=60 (Scale 0-100)
\timbre=60 This text is read at a timbre value of 60.

HELP ON NOKIA 5530 xpress music

hi, i am new user, and just buyed 2-3 days back a new nokia 5530 xpress music, and i am not happy with it, the main problems are
1) earphone problems - the earphones are not good i mean i got the white color earphone still the sound in it is so bad that no bass in it, simple voice with low sound, also buyed a new earphone but same problem. i hate that
2) music player- well the music is very low as compared to samsung corby pro. this is xpress music but has not much sound where else samsung corby pro has more and better sound than us wat the hell.
3) battery problem- well the battery life as told music can be played upto 27 hrs, and talktime 4 hrs, and standby time, huh ( ALL FAKE). i yesterday rechraged my xpress music fully at around 4 pm, and i dint listen to any music, was just msging my friends and talk to someone for around 30 mins and then was just msging and msging and i stoped at around 12 am night, i saw my battery and its almost down i was shocked and suprise that battery only worked for around 8-9 hrs wat the hell grrrrrrrrrr. at 1 am the battery was at 1 point i mean i am so disappointed i felt like kicking the phone out my balcony. and ya when i recharge my battery it recharges in almost 20-25 mins that too full charge i mean i dont understand y is it happening like that

1. I use in ear earphones and the music is great
2. Music quality on the 5800 is better than the corby pro whose distortion levels are quite high. If we are talking of volume, that is another matter. volume is not equivalent to quality. I am not sure if you are just not using good enough earphones or what, but the presets on mine has a difference on the songs. I can hear the difference. I also listen to songs at volume level 3. So I really think its your earphone which has a problem.
3. These battery life quotations are maximum. Same goes for almost any brand. Music lifetime quotations are impossible to reach in real life. I could tell you how to get 27hours music on your phone but I can assure you, you wont do it.
