Nokia 5610 Screen

Screen has disappeard from phone and I need to set it up to USB for backing up. Does anyone know the menu sequence I can use with out seeing the screen?

Normally if you plug a Nokia to the computer with USB, a window comes up where you an choose which kind of connection you want to use. And the one on top usually is Nokia PC Suite, so this should work.
Try it out and let us know what happened!

Nokia 5610 screen - total malfunction !

I just dont know how this came about. It did fall from my computer table a couple of times but that has happened to all the other phones i've owned so far. Now my nokia 5610's screen switches between rainbow-colored , negative colored , and the normal color randomly! I've restarted the phone a zillion times and its pure luck if the normal colors pop out - even if that happens, it may go back to negative or rainbow-colored any second! I've never experienced such problems with any other gadget. And the thing that surprises me is the fact that i bought the nokia 5610 hardly a month ago from a verified dealer first hand!
Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated !

I think it is a common problem with the N5610 - as it exactly the same that happened with mine. The screen flickered when top slided.
I sent it to the Nokia Care Centre and they had to replace the LCD - since they said that the LCD connectors worn out. So for the new one they had to extend the LCD connector so it would not likely happen again in the future.

Nokia 5610 with dead(?) screen

Hey guys I seem to have a problem!
I was uploading some mp3 to my newly bought Nokia 5610,
I got it 3 weeks ago. I installed the latest software etc etc. Now here we go: I was uploading the mp3's and at some point I had to go to college, and I thought it be alright if I just left my phone on the desk so it could upload the songs while I was gone, and it'd be done by the time I would get back.
Then I thought that maby the battery would be empty soon if it was uploading all the time, so I got my charger, and I plugged it in the mobile... and then suddenly the screen went black. I was like... euh? O.o what was that.
So I start looking at what could be wrong (no i didnt open the device exept of taking out the SIM card and battery and back in again so my warrenty is still intact) Its pretty weird, the screen is black, but when I put it 'on' it vibrates 1 time as normal, I see black letters "Nokia" apear on a dark grey screen. And then nothing happends. The only thing noticable is that the screen goes from total black to dark grey for 2 seconds, it does this 3 times and then it stays black. And then I can push 'on' again and the exact same happends again.
So I thought, maby the battery went dead? I put in the charger again, and this time it kept on going from black to grey untill I unplug the charger. Also when I connect the USB to my computer, the pc finds the 'new device' and then immediatly it disconnects again. This happends everytime the 'cycle' starts again (going black to grey 3 times and then black). So it seems like it is going On, and then after the screen goes black for the last time it is turned Off again.
Its the only thing I see, nothing apears on the screen exept "nokia' (in a weird place aswell, at the middle-bottom instead of the middle where it normally apears).
I'm bashed... I bought this mobile 3 weeks ago, never dropped it or anything. Nothing seems to be damaged either, from the outside at least.
It was all fine untill this morning. Now im not sure wether it was because of uploading the mp3's, or because I plugged in the charger, or combination of either.
Again its about the Nokia 5610 Xpress Music, Has anyone encountered this problem or has suggestions? Else I'm afraid I will just have to get it back to a repair center in Amsterdam (after I told al my friends my new number and said that they could delete my old 1 :/)

Well mate, the only experience i have with this phone (I have the same as yours) is that you should bring it back to a nokia care centre (for locations see posts above) and tell them what the problem is, then they should update/flash the software. In the worst case they will send it to external repairs, which will cost a few weeks (2-4). That is what is happening to my mobile as I'm typing...
Just ask them if they cant do it right in the store, they should be able to. Try to avoid that it is send to external repair as that will cost alot of time. It will help you to understand if you read the a/discussions/board/message?board.id=phones&message.id=34235

New successor for the nokia 5610?

i want to know if nokia has any plans of doing a succesor for the nokia 5610 xpressmusic
i know the nokia X3. but it doesn't have the same feature as the 5610 like music slider and a dual led flash
if theyre doing it
i wish it will have a
touch screen or just touch pad
new s40 series
still the music slider is still there and it will have a flashing music player lights while playing.
more louder a little bit cause this 5610 is much louder than 5800, nokia 5130(who says it is louder), nokia X3(which has 2 stereo type speakers but still no match for the 5610)

Nokia 5610 XPress Music

Hello,
i have a severe problem with my phone(Nokia 5610 XPress Music). What happened was, just before a month ago,i have an accident and in it, one of the buttons(the button on front face of the phone,color-black,function - with its help, the screen slides left to right or vice versa) of my mobile has broken down and got up from the phone.
Now the place of the button is empty and i can't even brought up my cell phone in public place.
In this situation, with a heavy heart wanted to know, if parts(specialy that button) of that model are available in my country(Bangladesh)/wanted to know the possible time margin of when i can have that available.
Please help me, I am in great pain.

Nokia 5610 key sequence to turn on Bluetooth

Hi!
The screen on my Nokia 5610 stopped working. Or I can see that it's working since the light on the screen changes on startup. Though it's still black. Does anybody know how to fix the screen?
Anyway I want contacts back that I thought I saved on my SIM card but I didn't. So can you help me out with the key sequence to turn on bluetooth?
I think it's something like left top button (shortcuts),down x4... Or something like this.

Nokia 5610 and it's myraid of problems.

I've had the Nokia 5610 for several months now, and I wish I could say it's been smooth sailing but it was not. This is my third order of the Nokia 5610 Xpress Music. Why I can't exchange it for another phone? T-Mobile's policy. If I could, Oh I would.
The problems lie in the phone's extremely lagginess. Each and everyone of my Nokia 5610's have had problems with freezing. The instant messenging software has been rendered completely useless as it goes to a blank screen now. My current Nokia 5610's Menu button is malfunctioning. It's a hardware issue...Because I can press it fine while it's "closed" but while slid "open" it ceases to react.
Can you please help? I'm extremely frustrated with this phone. Not only have no new firmware been available since it's release in 2008. If anyone of you know how to fix this..please tell me. I have no other option afterall. T-Mobile doesn't let me exchange it.

NOKIA 5610- 10 PROBLEMS!

Hello everybody this is my first post. I have a Nokia 5610 I bought 1 month ago and I want to describe the main dis advantages I can see in this phone.. Please comment if you own one with your opinions on what to do. help, or anything to add...
1. No SECURITY , you cant make the phone ask you for security code when you turn the phone.. This is a major flaw considering ALL my previous cell phones had this.. So if they steal your phone or someone wants to use it there is no barriers.. Really bad.
2. No InCall timer. This is amazing from nokia how can they release a phone that does not have the option of showing how long you've been talking??? This is really bad, you can choose "call resume" function which shows you the time at the end of the call but its not the same.
3. NO FLASH as LIGHT! what is this?? I mean how come it has such a great light to be used as flash and you cant use it as flashlight?? how many times you are in a dark situation? I was used to take out my phone and spare some light. (keys, dark stairs, ect.. even shooting video at night.) Well.. not possible.
4.MICRO USB .. Why??? why didint you just stay with miniUSB?? Why micro?? who uses micro? nobody.. so if you lost that cable its really hard to get and you cant charge it (phone )through a computer so its useless.. This slot is useful just to connect the computer to a PC.. Attention ; The charger is a different slot.
5. No 3.5mm jack.. so you cant connect your normal headphones you have to connect the nokia ones or use an adapter..
6.No Auto lock keypad.. You have to manually lock the keypad every time .
7.No battery warning signal.. There is no absolute sing of the battery telling you its going to finish.. No red line , no sound (MO), no screen message.. (SE) , no nothing.. you just go to sleep and wake up the phone has been with no battery since you who knows... you put it in your pocket go out.. check it a 2 am .. absolutely dead.. with no warning..
8. No MAPS,..
9. No searching songs or artist title through the numbers keyboard .. so stupid.. you have a thousand songs and you have to scroll allll the way down .. wouldn't it be quicker to just press the 1st letter??
10.Cant send SMS from the phonebook menu.. Im sorry but this is really retarded, you see the options of a contact on the phonebook list and theres 10 options but no "send sms" option.
So prepare to go to SMS menu and then not even scroll but ADD new recipient.. i mean **bleep**??
The rest is pretty decent.. nice sound , quality of images, interface, speed...
But nokia please!! cant you release a software update at least??

My Reply: This feature is available at the Settings menu which you can change the setting of security.. there's 2 option there, if i'm not mistaken..It requires u to insert the securit code.. and for changes of sim card, it do requires the security phone unlock code.. maybe u might mislook the function there.. check it out..

My Reply: Correct me if i'm wrong, do u mean "Call Duration Timer?" If yes, then as the same judgement as above, you might mislook the function which you may edit settings on the "Call Setting"..

My Reply: Ohh yea.. this could be a fair bid to nokia and consumer then.. there's a reason which why nokia doesn't provide the flash light, although 5610 user knew tht its' flash are bright enuff to shine a darkness.. AS consumer, we have the right to choose which is the phone which suits our lifestyle.. hence, for all future buyer on mobile, make a survey on needs and not trend.. coz it will ends up in unsatisfaction like me though..

Nokia packages its' theme and concept or personality for each phone.. This Nokia 5610 is meant for music lover.. which there's fast key for any music turn on/of.. and its speaker.. As for consumer, we hv to knows wut we want and wut is the budget of any purchase.. Nokia comes out with quite of models which can cope with the consumer needs as of:-GPS; N95 8Gb, Navigator or etc..

My Reply: Correct me if i'm wrong, do u mean tht through contacts, u would like to send a SMS..? If is, then u might miss a step tht makes u think tht u can't send any SMS though contacts.. I'll list down a few step below;-
1. Go to Contacts or press the "down" key
2. Choose any of your Pals name / number
3. Press on the name selected
4. You'll see your pal's name and number at the full screen
5. Press again the menu/ option
6. You'll see the list of option, "Send Message"
*** For an ex user of Nokia 5610, My main concern is their conponent as off the left/right slide radio on/off button .. In software, there's no issue for me.. nmw, advise as a user, purchase the right phone which caters your personality and needs.. It will gives u the positive bout Nokia technology..

I never experienced any crashes/restarts with v4.81 but decided to try this anyway. (Gone from v4.81 to v9.40)
I haven't done much yet but here are some of the obvious improvements.
+ Navigation/phone response quicker
+ Camera much better, quicker, overbright gone so you can take close ups with the flash on. (no strange clicking noises as mentioned by some people who used v8.XX)
+ Standard Nokia movies now play smoothly with no juddering. Maybe it can now play MP4s with more than 12fps?
+ Not sure what this feature is called (Organic desktop?) but the default wallpaper now animates/changes. The bars/shades move. Looks nice.
Has there always been 22 ring tones?

I do not agree with your observations about the screen distortions.
This has never happened even with v4.81 on my phone.
I do not agree with your sound/music observation, it sounds clear and crisp compared to v4.81.
Why do you want to increase the dB gains on the specific frequency ranges?
By doing that you are messing up the sound quality yourself.
I disagree with your stereo widening observation, with it off the sound is better.
By enabling this feature you are causing some right channels to be crossed over to the left speaker and vice versa.
This only makes matters worse for head phones.
Stereo widening + your messing about with the dB (equaliser) you completely ruin the sound.
And I have experienced 0 popping.
Haven't tried the camera yet.
Those are my observations.

Nokia 5610 Xpress Music - Problem with Application...

Hi all..
I have a problem in my Nokia 5610 Xpress Music.
I can't access Applications! When I enter an application, a message says:"supportive file. nothing to display". However, I can enter some of the 'Applications' from the 'Go to' button in the stand by screen. My 'Calculator' has disappeared from my Organizer.
If anyone helps to solve this problem, it would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Most of us here are just nokia users like you or anybody else who asks a problem here and seeks a solution.We are not professionals,and only try to help others.
Now, in this present case: For an instance,The calculator has disappeared. It is a part of firmware which cannot be edited.If it was a symbian phone then there was a possibility of developing a patch.But, with s40's the only option you have is to go for an firmware upgrade,if you can do it by yourself then well enough.Otherwise you need to visit the care center where you can get your firmware updated or get a stable firmware which has a calculator.

Nokia 5610 help!!!

i have a nokia 5610 and i have two question:
1) above the screen, there are two things, one of them is the camera , what is the other thing and what does it do?
2) behind the slider, ( the on that goes to music player and radio ) , there is a light that keeps flashing, there is no missed call or anything that would cause it to flash. It doesn't flash all the time, from time to time it starts to work. why does it flash?
3) is there anyway that i can make the flash of the camera to work as a flash light?

three questions perhaps?
1. It's the light sensor. - it optimizes the screen ligth due to the light around you.
2. I am pretty sure this is the breathing light. How ever I am not sure how to turn it off - as my little brother had it a short time - a long time ago I googled it, and it seems like you can follow these steps: just go to setting>lights>lights effects on/off

Nokia 5610 v8.30 Problems!!!!

I bought my Nokia 5610 late last year and haven't updated since. I recently updated my phone from the 1st version which was the version 4.20 or 4.81 (I couldn't remember what the version was) to the new version 8.30.
After I upgraded the phone it was fine for a few days until the screen started going blank for a moment and the screen was upside down. After that it got worst as the phone just went blank and i couldn't turn it on. After a few days my phone turned on but the screen doesn't show anything, it was just blank. I could tell it was only the screen that was the problem because i got a text message.
please, someone help me?
oh and i bought my 5610 from Malaysia and recently just moved to melbourne and upgraded the software in Melbourne.

oh and another thing is that when i connect my phone to my computer using my USB cable it says that my phone is connected but in a non compatible mode

5610 Screen Problem...

I bought my Nokia 5610 on may the 5th. It was working fine enough 'till one day, while I was listening to music, it restarted and then showed the screen like this:

I have never dropped or hit my phone with anything, so it seemed quite odd to me. I went to the support center and then, out of nothing, started to work again when the dude grabbed the phone. He said that he had no idea what had happened, and gave me my phone back.
Now, I was checking my contacts, and guess what? The awful pink screen came back again! I don't know why, but it's back... I searched through the forum to find if someone had a similar problem, but nothing close. Can anyone help me?

sounds lik a connection in screen is either loose or damaged you will need to get screen fixed or replaced common issues with slider phones is the cable gets worn down or frayed thats connected to screen

can Quick Office or Office suite work on Nokia 5610?

I am not able to connect GPRS in applications like Yahoo Go,Opera Mini etc,i had working GPRS connection,i am able to connect through web menu but when i m trying to open above applications GPRS connection fails to connect.I contacted Nokia care center,they updated my phones software but problem not resolved,as u replied to me previously for same problem that Menu > Settings > Configurations > Activate default in all applications > Yes. I had already done that but problem still persists.The actual message that appears on screen is when opening application Download: "Verify from phones settings that an access point is properly defined". When opening Yahoo Go actual message appears on phone screen is:"Yahoo go requires working internet connection please check: -If flight mode is disabled -If security settings allow online access,select ok if a message on your phone asks to allow network access. -If you are having trouble with internet access in general,please check your phones manual for setup and troubleshooting details or contact your network operator for help".So plz help me regarding this problem.
