Nokia 5630 XpressMusic - network WLAN

Hi, Need some help!
I have configured WLAN on my Nokia 5630 and I have som questions regarding WLAN.
1. When I use the mobile for surfing the Internet, is the indication in the top left corner the network I'm currently using for my internet connection?
2. Even when I'm at home and is connected to my WLAN, the 3g network is used when I surf the net. If I remove my simcard WLAN is used.
a) Can i disable the 3g network for Internet surfing? How?
b) Can I make changes to the configuration so that WLAN is given priority before the 3g network? How?

I do not have this phone, but it is a s60 device so it should be similar to my 5800 and n97 at some points. Usually you can go inside the browser and set the browser to ask for connection every time. (browser->options-> settings-> genral-> accesspoint-> always ask.
Within connectivity settings, there should be possible to set priority of the connections. - If you set your wlan as default connection, your phone will use thast if you are within range.

You have to tell some more about the settings. Is the SSID visible? Are you using a WPA-PSK key? Is the firmware of your AP up-to-date? Are you using MAC filtering? Try to reset the AP.

Nokia 5630 XpressMusic

I want to get a Nokia 5630 XpressMusic in china but heard that the specs in china are slightly different from other countries so that 3G and 2G and Ovi Maps wouldn't work if I go to another country such as Australia. Will it be a problem?
I Know that the phone is a global roaming phone, will that help?

The boxed pair of earphones won’t wow you with unsurpassed quality either. sound gets displeasingly sharp if you turn the volume up or switch on the equalizer. It’s good that sound quality gets substantially better the minute you plug in a pair of decent headphones, so you may come to want to make good use of the 3.5 mm jack indeed.
your other alternative phone with good music thats loud is the nokia 5800 which runs on s60
there is no application available to my knowledge to make the volume louder.

I have purchased 5630 recently, i am trying to install .sis S60 3rd applications on it but it gives me "certification error" for all. O have installed "MobiFactor.PowerMp3.v1.17b.S60v3.S60v5.SymbianOS9.x.By.L-éoSymbian" nut i have faced the same problem.

Ok, all. I am going to answer my own post.
From what I can tell, the applications will not install becasue they are not signed properly. You can get around this but if you are unsure of the application or its source, do not do this.
Home>>Tools>>Settings>>Applications>>APP. Manager .
Change the "Software Installation" from Signed to All
When you actually install the software, it will prompt you about 100 times that you are installing a non-signed program and are you sure. Again, if you are unsure of the application, do not do this.

Is Nokia 5630 xpressmusic compatible with Nokia BH...

5630 is'n in the offical compatibility list, but 5130 is, for example.
5630 supports Bluetooth 2 (A2DP-support).

GPS not working on Nokia 5630 express music

Dear,
I am unable to use GPS on my Nokia 5630 xpressmusic. It gives me error "enable satellite based positioning method first". This option is not available in Nokia 5630. Kindly assist.

You really need to utilise a Bluetooth GPS receiver as network GPS is not accurate enough for usage with Ovi Maps.

Nokia 5630 problems?

Well, I have been thinking about getting a Nokia 5630 (Xpressmusic) but I have heard that there has been plenty of troubles with this model, and was wondering if there are any 5630-owners out there who knows if these problems have been fixed?
For example I've heard that the phone shuts down while listening to music (no matter if it's mp3-files or radio, and the radio does seem to be kind of bad, from what I've gathered) which is obviously not something that should be in a mobile phone that actually is advertised as a music phone...
I was also wondering aboutthe quality of the pictures with the 5630:s built-in camera,are thy decent enough for taking photographs indoors especially? (Would be very nice if someone has taken some photographs indoors that one could see the quality of them, I have already seen some on the Internet, but there would be nice with some more)

All i can say is.. this phone is really creepy.. it suddenly hangs, turns off, has this "standby theme error" tingy going on, also the dreaded memory full error and my phone memory and memory card has so much free space!!!!! then another creepything is the theme suddenly changes sometimes, my 5630 is the silver color on the sides color (not the red or teal or whatever) the theme changes to a sky blue theme that doesn't exist in the phone, sometimes i can't open applications while in this "sky blue wierd theme" I bought this phone at around last week of October 2009.. then around mid November 2009 it started to do al those problems.... i sent it to Nokia Care in our lcal city.. then i got it back by the end of November. Then it stared acting up again, so i sent it to Nokia Care complaining with the same problems. They told me they have to send it to their Nokia Care Head Office for a swap board.. so i waited almost a month. I got it back by first week of January 2010, the phone worked great for 1 month, no errors, no hangs. I noticed they updated the firmware to 013.009 version that wasn't officially released yet (i think.BUT... when February 2010 came.. it started to do all the same errors again.. and worse.. when i tried my camera it hanged and auto-restarts.... i sent it to nokia care again and they reformated it then after i got my hands on it and turned it on as i walked away from nokia care.. it hanged and restarted again.. so there i go back to Nokia Care again.. they sent it to their Head Office again then got it back after a week i think.. and sill it has the same stuff.. i didn't bother to send it to Nokia Care again coz i think Nokia hasn't found a solution for the problems this unit has... Well.. That's my story.. i'm just txting and calling on the hpone.. not using the Camera, FM Radio, Removed Memory Card, No Music, etc.. just txting and calling.. and it still hangs sometimes and all those errors.. i'm lucky it seldom does the sky blue theme stuff anymore... NOKIA.. This is a scary phone (-__-)\ I hope they come up with a stable firmware for this phone...

WLAN Authenticated Proxy, Nokia 5630

I am using Nokia 5630 which has wireless feature.
I have defined a wireless access point. In advanced settings of this wap, we can define a proxyort which let us use internet on on an access point which is behind a proxy server.
BUT , we can not define a proxy username and password at all. In many places especially in university, accessing to internet needs a proxy username and password.In other words, there is an authenticated proxy instead of open proxy server.
Please add this feature to advanced settings so that we would be able to define a proxy username and password in it.

I would suggest to backup all your important data like contacts, messages etc and goto Nokia Care for software reinstall or update.

Nokia 5800 Social Network and Internet/Email conce...

Having owned the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic for a couple of months or so, I must say that I really like the phone and it has great functionality.
My main concerns/issues however are outlined below:
1. Facebook for Nokia app is slow, does not show all of the functions that m.facebook.com shows and isn't a homescreen widget (e.g. push notifications)
2. Communities app is even slower and again does not have the functionality of m.facebook.com and doesn't show notifications at all!
3. The Nokia Messaging app insists on connecting to 3G all the time, rather than a wifi connection when available. I've also experienced intermittent issues when trying to connect (sometimes it stays offline and even selecting 'Go online' doesn't wake the program up).
4. Default web browser keeps crashing and doesn't support larger websites (I experience intermittent crashes as well as memory issues). I do not receive such issues in Opera Mobile. I also dislike the defaulting to full screen mode all the time. If you turn full screen off, as soon as you navigate to a different page it goes back to full screen again, therefore increasing the activity on the phone and it takes longer to load the page before you can scroll or click another link.
I think I've covered all of my main concerns but in essence this device really needs better app support and social networking integration.
I would be grateful if I could be given an update on if/when we can expect to receive such support.
If anyone else agrees, please indicate below along with any additional feature requests relating to this topic.

Same issues here, facebook is almost unuably slow (it's quicker to boot up the laptop!)
Messeging will not use wifi and i have a limited data plan so can't use it for attachments.
Web browser randomly exits for no reaseon and the lack of width adjustment is infuriating
Now ovi store's won't let me download!

Latest version of OVI Maps available here:http://maps.nokia.com/services-and-apps/ovi-maps/free-downloads#/nokia-5800-xpressmusic/
You need to download regional maps to your device with OVI Suite, microSD needed in 5800 and OVI Maps run once with memory card in place.
You don't need a network connection for OVI Maps application to work but the Assisted GPS feature does require network connection for rapid positional acquisition, found in "Location" application.

Please can someone advise me if it is possible to connect my Nokia 5130 Xpressmusic to any standard wifi network? Is extra software needed? What is the procedure to connect? Your thoughts wpould be appreciated.

Nokia 5630 Messages not sent, remain in inbox

Hi,
Please help me with my problem. It's been two days and my Nokia 5630 won't send any messages. I can receive messages. i can also call and receive calls. I have checked the messaging center settings and my network provider says that there is no problem with my settings. Then how do I solve this problem? I've seen posts, mostly people have just asked to change the messaging center. It hasn't worked for me. Please help.

use a PC to update it so you will have a good backup.
Manual device OS upgrade instructions:
1. First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.

4. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
5. This step is not needed unless there is an issue on next steps. Use BBSAK from BBSAK.org and wipe the device (after doing a complete backup) then after you get the error 507 (no OS installed) then proceed to step 6
6. remove internet connection to PC and reboot PC.
7. Plug in BlackBerry and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file was in.

Bluetooth problem in 5630 XpressMusic

Hai,
I've been unable to activate bluetooth on my 5630 XpressMusic mobile. whenever I try activating it I get a message "Unable to perform bluetooth operation" on the display. I'm unable to ascertain whether its due to a hardware problem or do I've to make some changes to any settings move where...Kindly help me out.

It might be a software issue.
try hard reset your phone, turn off your phone then try this
press and hold Green key (call) + Star (*) key + num 3 key, while pressing those keys turn on your phone. Release those three keys when phone shows "Nokia" logo.
P.S. Hard reset will erase all data and Pre installed apps on your phone memory. Please backup your important data.
DON'T BACKUP SETTINGS, SETTINGS MAY CONTAIN ERRORS.

Nokia 5130 XpressMusic WAP problem

I recently purchased a Nokia 5130 XpressMusic which was locked to the UK network "Tesco Mobile". I paid Tesco to unlock my phone so I could use my O2 SIM in it. They unlocked it and my O2 SIM works fine (calls, texts) but the mobile internet and MMS doesn't work.
I contacted O2 to send me the settings. They emailed instructions as to what I should do and I followed them, however, the phone still will not connect to the internet.
O2 said I should do the following (to set up WAP):

I also used the service ConfirgureMyPhone, where they text you the required settings. This did not work either. O2 used to send you the settings but it is down at the moment so you have to do it manually.
Can anyone help? I can't understand why it's not working! I have entered the settings exactly as the instructions said but no joy...

I have called both O2 and Tesco Mobile for assistance but neither could come up with a solution. I had the O2 settings sent to my mobile, but they still do not work. This suggests to me that it is a problem with the phone's firmware? As the phone was originally locked to Tesco (and then unlocked) i'm thinking maybe that the Tesco firmware is stopping me from using any other internet/mms settings on the phone.. Anyone have any thoughts on this theory?
O2 said it sounded like the Tesco firmware causing trouble. Tesco said that it wasn't the firmware causing the trouble. They said they had never head of Tesco firmware interfering when a user was trying to use other settings.
I'm still totally stuck! I am going to try ringing Tesco (who I originally bought the mobile from) and see if they'll replace the handset with a factory unlocked one (which doesn't have branded firmware on it) as this handset (unlocked, but still has Tesco branding) is causing me huge stress!!
