Nokia 5800 3.0 Update Orange UK?

Got my 5800 today from Orange in the UK yet theres no update available, when I know theres a newer version. I'm currently on 21.0.025. Does anyone know how to get the latest update on Orange, or when its coming?

No, that's not true either.. I swear this forum has FUD undertones.
My unbranded white N97 received its v11 firmware AFTER many UK network variations were released.. indicating Nokia dragged their feet..
Closer to the point on this thread, some unbranded 5800s STILL do not have v30 let alone v31including mine (technically my gf's.. it didn't support line-2 so I couldn't use it) again indicating Nokia are dragging their feet..
Why would complaining to orange help in the slightest.. if uk unbranded 5800s had v31, I guess it might.. but seeing as Nokia haven't made the new firmwares available for their unbranded phones it is more likely to be Nokia dragging their feet..
I would complain to Nokia first.. one the unbranded versions are out and about (which they aren't) then try your network but at the moment I don't see how it can be the networks fault.. really.

Nokia 5800 disconnected when update start

please help me..i have a problem on my nokia 5800..my problem is my phone always disconnect when the update start..i did all reset even the hard reset..but its no use..i cant go to nokia care because it as so far away from our location..plz help me to fix it..

Nokia 5800 will not update to 60.0.003

My nokia 5800 xpress music is running on 52.0.007 but I want to update to 60.0.003.
When I type in *#0000# on my phone , I will enter device updates. I entered options and check for a new update, it said it does not have a update. But on the device update main page, it said that the latest update is not updated.Can some mysterious guy help me???

If you would like to post the seven digit product code on label under battery starting with "0" can at least tell you whether or not v60.0.003 released for your device.

"Special edition" phones such as your 5800 "Ramadan edition" tend not to get updates as often as generic phones.
All you can do is petition Nokia in your country to release an update. Click on the "Contact us" link in the navigation bar at the top of any forum page and follow directions.

Nokia 5800 won't update to firmware v40.0.005

Hello,
I have tried to update my 5800 using nokia software updater several times( I am currently on v21.0.025), but no luck. The software says that there is no new update available, which is incorrect. I know of people who have updated their phones to v40.0.005 without incident.
I purchased the phone in late December '09 and have been trying to update it since the middle of January 2010. I am at a total loss as to why the noka software updater won't detect the newly available software. Nokia them selves said that the update is available in my country(Ireland).I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software update.

That is correct their is no update yet for your particular model phone .
Phone code and number decide if the update is available .
Stick your product code in here for tthe exact situation today and keep checking every few days .

Nokia 5800 won't update apps or download apps

I just got this phone yesterday and i want to do the 3 app updates (adobe flashlite 3.1, mail exchange 2.9 and nokia messaging 10.0) that it has on the list in the application folder.
but when i press start update it tries to do them but then says 3 updates failed
also i cant get the ovi store on my phone or download anything
what should i do to fix it?

Well since its brand new I expect nothing would be the problem is we put the phone through formatting and firmware reinstallation. Some guy at factory must have been half asleep.
On your phone, just dial *#7370# and lock code (by default its 12345). After which, connect to PC to Ovi Suite and update software, then perform the format again. This should ensure that the system is as squeaky clean as possible.
This isnt necessarily the solution, but its sort of the "nuke it" final straw option which in this case I doubt if its a problem on a brand new mostly still empy phone.

Nokia 5800 v50 firmware update gone wrong

Hey guys,
I installed v50 firmware over the air. I had to uninstall some programs because the update complained of lack of space, so I uninstalled Ovi client and related software and some location aware thing that I don't remember the name.
Then flashed the firmware... all went well, phone turned on.
While on the home screen after some seconds I got a message saying that something failed to install (it didn't say what). I still was able to use my phone however, now the camera software doesn't work.
Any tips ? Do I need to do a hard-reset on the phone and install firmware again ? And how can I do a hard-reset ?

Yes, since there is a space problem a hard reset would be a good option before reinstalling. Remember that it deletes everything so make sure you have a backup.
A hard reset (x6, 5800 and 5230 only) is done by the following (warning, this deletes all data on your phone):
1.) Turn off the phone and remove battery for 5min
2.) Reinsert battery
3.) Press and hold the green, red and camera buttons. DO NOT LET GO.
4.) While holding the three buttons, press the power key to boot the phone up.
5.) Keep on pressing until you see the country selection screen.
A correctly done hard reset would show you that everything on the phone (contacts, messages, calendar entries, etc) would be deleted. So it is advisable to back them up. Upon restoration, do not restore settings or files if possible.

Nokia 5800 apps and updating firmware

Hi all
Quick question regarding installed apps and updating the firmware... I install all my apps onto the phone itself rather than the memory stick. Firstly i've been told that this isn't a good idea (i'm not not sure why) Can anyone think of any reasons? I do it as I've found some apps do not work when they are on the memory card for some reason.
Anyway, since they are all on my c: of the phone will updating the firmware delete them all? I'm not sure if a firmware update resets it back to factory settings or just updates it but leaves everything how it is?
Can anyone help? I would test it but my phone is already up to date!

The 5800 has UDP (User data preservation) so in theory your data and applications should be safe when you update. However it always better to be safe than sorry so do backup your phone.
If the phone memory was big enough, I would probably install all applications on it as it runs faster. However the reality is the phone memory is very small and you will run low on phone memory after just a few applications. So a balance is required where some applications which are perhaps used more often and those which will only work from the phone memory are intalled on it., The remainder will unfortunately have to go on the memory card.

Nokia 5800 can't update software from V21.0.025 to...

everytime i try to update the firmware of my phone, it always stops. in the nokia software updater screen, it always says the connection to your phone is lost. try to do the following to reconnect your phone and to continue the update, something like that..

Are u using USB or blurtooth for updating? I find USB much much more stable.

About Nokia 5800 XpressMusic latest update

V52 has released, but on Nokia site says latest firmware is V51. Then i've contacted Nokia through above "contact us" link. They said "they don't know about V52. Latest is V51. And they said V52 coming soon". So i just wanna know is it a official update? Why site not updated yet?

See milesh, as i said, my code isn't listed in tht short list provided by our friend here.. but stil i have v52 and i updated via FOTA.. My phone isn't hacked.. These web developers are sleepin.. Winters after all.. Lol.

Nokia 5800 XM - Software Updates

Since, Long I was trying to update my original version 21 to 52 latest but it was updating to only 31 maximum saying your hardware can update only to this version. But somehow it has updated to v52.0.
Another problems starts, it has updated few more softwares - all hidden i am not aware, I am not using them also, but the touch screen functionality during call receive or forward is not functioning - means graphic shows press here and there to accept or reject but touch screen dont work!!!!!!!!!! i have to use only red or green buttons to function... same in case of alarm gives option of stop or snooze but touch screen dont work....
So i had did hard reset then tried to call it is working perfect (sign is when u got a call accept reject buttons comes in square boxes as is the case previously), but immediately it is asking for some softwares small patches (called service provider you will get in appication manager) which will make those square buttons to rectangular button from left to right and visa-vie for accept or reject, at this moment the touch screen is not working...
Just uninstall service provided patch you will get everything OK... solution is there,
But how to stop this patch been installed (becos as soon as it contacted to OVI / net wifi or any means first things it installs is service provided - which make touch screen functionality) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry for long post but needs complete explanation. I already had done 4-5 Hard reset to understand the problem!!!!

Nokia 5800 xpressmusic firmware update

I am trying to update the firmware on my phone. I have tried to from the phone using *#0000# only to be told to add a server profile? I downloaded ovi suite to my pc and connected my phone via usb. Halfway through the update, ovi says that it cannot find my phone anymore and I need to disconnect the phone, turn it off and on again and re-connect it. Even after doing this numerous times ovi still can no longer detect my device.

Hi thanks for your advice but this message appears after the ovi suite has shut down the phone and it has re-started. I click on the phone - pc suite connection when prompted after re-start and then this warning appears saying it has lost connection and to unplug the phone, restart it and replug it back in. If I press ok at the bottom it just continues to show this warning again after about 10 seconds. I don't have the sw update app on my phone it must be running on a very old version

Device update notworking for Nokia 5800, please he...

I have Nokia 5800 with software version v30.0.011 type RM-356. I can see that the latest device update available is 31.0.101 but however when I try to udpate I just get a msg that v30.0.011 is the latest update. I live in India and my friend who has Nokia 5800 has already updated to 31.0.101. So this is not a location based problem but somthing else. I have already updated my pc suite everything else works fine. What could be the reason for this problem and how can I update to v31.0.101? thanks in advance!

I just got some info about my own question.
If anyone else need answer for the same.. here it is
I found that I have 0575586: 5800 India CV B v1 where 0575586 is the product code. Product code can be found beneath the battery. With the product code you can find what firmware upgrades are available for your phone.
