Nokia 5800 and Virgin Mobile (Australia) data setu...

Has anyone here got their 5800xm working with Virgin Mobile Australia data plans?  I have been having much trouble getting the browsing to work on my phone and have spoken to Virgin a number of times.  Any help would be appreciated.  Perhaps there is a setting in the phone that I need to change etc that I don't know about?

The reason virgin won't give you the settings is because it's not a model they sell.
What you need to do is call them and tell them a different model. For example ask them for the settings for a nokia 2330 instead as they do sell that model and the settings will work on your 2220.
The settings may also work through the link below but i'm unable to test it.

    Hallo,
I bought an Nokia 5800 and in my car  i have a EGO Talk carkit.    Normaly my phones ( all Nokia) connects and I can still here and use the radio and cd player but now with the 5800 there is a perfect connection and  I can and use my phone but there is no radio or cd working.  Can annybody help me please??:womansad:

    Hi Bitshifter,
Not sure what's happening to your wifi connection on the phone but I do think I have a solution to your two questions about the liveleak website and the Live TV app.
Liveleak.com uses a flash player that is not compatible for the nokia phones, I checked it on my phone and it keep saying that I needed to upgrade my flash player. The nokia phones use flashlite which is not the same version as what most flash sites use and only can be viewed from a PC. The sites need to mobile content ready for you to view the content, youtube is mobile ready.
The Live Tv app is viewing DVB-H, which is if the country your in does not have it up running, then not possible to use the app. Also on a side note, to the app you need the SU-33W.
Hope this helps in answering some of the questions.

  • Nokia 5800 and Ovi Suite Contacts Sync Changes Pic...

    Hi,
I have a Nokia 5800 and just installed the latest Nokia Ovi Suite (2.0).
It is a good tool, but I have a problem with the synching my contacts.
Befor Ovi sync, I use to associate pictures from my gallery with contacts. When I dial the contacts the picture of the contact took up most of the screen (until the contact answers the call - then it makes the picture small and puts it in the speech bubble)
After I sync'ed with Ovi Suite, the contact picture now shows up as a small - very small - thumbnail image during the call on the phone.
Is there something that can be done to protect this from happening, or a setting that can be changed in Ovi to use a large picture instead of a thumbnail?
My 5800 has the latest firmware installed (available to me in my country) - which is 31.0.101.
Thanks for the help in advance.

one more bump and then I give up on Ovi suite. Once again

  • Nokia 5230 and Garmin Mobile XT

    Hi !
I have decided to install Garmin Mobile on my Nokia 5230. I have asked the official Garmin support for informations about Garmin Mobile and Symbiaa S60 v5. They answered that the last version of Garmin Mobile is v5.00.60 and in theory it should almost certain work with S60v5 operating system (the version v5.00.50 should too), but the product is discontinued so they are not 100% sure. They sent me a list where I can still buy Garmin Mobile but I am not sure to spend 100€ because I'm not totaly sure if this will work with Nokia 5230. There's lots of info about Garmin v5.00.40 and v5.00.50 working on Nokia 5800 but no info about Nokia 5230.
Is there any Nokia 5230 user on this forum with Garmin Mobile installed? If yes which version of Garmin Mobile do you have?
    Regards;

    Hi majidX
Using v5.00.50s60.9 on 5230 in landscape mode, presumably sensor settings no issues with other applications?
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

  • Nokia 5800 with Route66 Mobile 7 for S60 V2/3

    Hello,
I have Route 66 Mobile 7  S60 V2/3 installed at a new Nokia 5800.(it comes from my older Mobile N80i)
The software Route66 start up very well but can handle the touchscreen of the Nokia 5800.
Is there an possibilty  that the Nokia 5800 can work with mine Route 66 version.
Route66 said that you need S60 V5, but maybe somebody knows an other solution.
    Thx

     2. Radio Freeze - running my radio now for 10min. Still isnt freezing.
    3. My mp3's have tags. They're all correct. Maybe the program you're using for tagging is not compatible?
    4. This I dont understand. I thought you said Navigation? We're talking about Ovi Maps when you refer to navigation right?
    5. Hmm, cant say I noticed. Whenever I clear browser cache, memory size goes back to what it was before. Well, at least IMO this works fine for me.
    6. What's wrong with using that program to clean?
    8. Why bother putting factory application when there's free out there? Would only make the cost of making the phone bigger.
    9. I'll try to check this. I usually use Opera Mobile and Skyfire because they have flash support. I think if you have enough free RAM you might be able to play facebook games here.
    10. Hmm, ok I'll try to connect to Ovi store for longer than 30min to see if it crashes. have you updated Ovi store yet?
    11. Uh, how much free memory do you have on C anyway? I have like 37mb free, and it's pretty fine. Cache cant eat all of those in a week.
Anyway, I think your phone has bugs. it seems that the APAC firmware has bugs. I'm on Euro version.

  • Nokia 5800 and AVRCP issues.

    Hi ,
First of all I just regret having 5800 in the first place, I really pity nokia , they have lost all the respect I ever had for them.
Starting with the problem I bought a Jabra BT3030 few days back to use it along with my nokia 5800, Nokia 5800 does support AVRCP profile ( atleast they have mentioned it on their website http://www.nokia.co.in/find-products/products/nokia-5800-xpressmusic/specifications ) , 5800 ( Rev : 20.0.012 ) just fails to understand the remote play / pause / forward and backward tracks commands. Which I found to be working perfectly with Nokia E51/E71 and to my horror even the old N73 connects seamlessly.
I have tried with two of 5800 handsets ( even both having the same colour :-) ) and no wonder they had the same problem , I am not sure of the firmware revision of the other handset , but it wont be greater than 20.0.012 for sure.
    I had mailed this to nokia support regarding the problem and following was their reply;
"This e-mail is with regard to functionality of headset Nokia 5800. We regret the inconvenience caused. We would like to inform you that Nokia does not recommend the usage of non Nokia enhancement with Nokia product as it might hamper the optimal performance of the phone."
What a pity I must say, the people replying dont even understand the meaning of bluetooth standard's which have been written for AVRCP.
Please advice if anyone elseis also facing the same problem and how should I tackle this.
    Thanks and regards,
    Mahendra

  • Nokia 5800 and iSync

    Hi,
I would like to know when it is released plug-in to recognize the Nokia 5800 with iSync
    Thanks !
    Daniele

There is no schedule. Apple hasn't added any new model support to iSync for over a year. They're leaving new phone support up to third-party iSync plugins.
Try contacting one of the third-party iSync Plugin developers on the page below, to see if and when support for your phone will be available:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2520
Or type "nokia 5800 isync" into Google for some existing options.

  • Nokia 5800 and Office File support?

    Hi there,
Does nokia 5800 'tube' phone supports creation/reading/editing of Office files like .doc or excel files or ppt files. also does it support reading of PDF files.
Nowhere in the phone's specifications it is mentioned.
Can i buy some external application which does that?
Please advise if someone has used it. I want to buy this phone but i struck between E71 or 5800.
    any suggestions?

There is a great external application whcih is the only one that actually works on the 5800 whcih you can use - it is called OfficeSuite. You can find it here http://www.mobisystems.com/product.html?pid=277&l=1&p=15&i=1 I have been waiting for it for while and I was very happy when they released it on Sale
You can download the trial and test it also.

  • Nokia 5800 and older Symbian applications

I've recently bought a 5800, and installed some freeware applications on it, allegedly compatible for this phone. After loading them, a "Soft-keypad" appears, which emulates the joystick + 2 main buttons of the older. There are other 4 buttons on the bottom, "A", "B", "C" and "D", which I've found emulating the "7", "9", "*" and "#".
Do you know of any other ways to emulate the remaining 8 digits "1", "2", etc.?
I believe that the aim of this soft-keypad was to ensure compatibility with the older non-touchpad softwares, but at the least possible cost, and so its development has not been actually completed... :-(
Thanks in advance for your replies...

  • Nokia 5800 and Louts Notes Support

What are the options for being able to have Louts Notes push service to a 5800XM or N97.
    Currently I am aware of
Lotus Notes Traveler - which does support the 5800XM
Sybases iAnywhere - which does not support the 5800XM
Nokia eMail - which does not support Lotus Notes or Sybase integration
If anyone knows if iAnywhere will support the 5800XM or if it will be wrapped in Nokia eMail I would appreciate feedback

  • Nokia 5800 and itunes

Hello! This is my first post, i'd really apreciate help! Just got my 5800 up and running. I've transferred music from itunes into the Nokia Music software, that was all fine. But everytime i try to transfer a track i get an error message and the song doesn't transfer and the whole thing shuts down. I thought about re-installing the software maybe?
If anyone can help then plese do! I want to get all of my music onto my phone!
    Thanks
    Rachey

DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. Apple has used in iTunes their own DRM technology called "Fairplay".
DRM is a way to encrypt the songs (music tracks) so that they can be only used on devices Apple controls or software Apple controls.
It is a way for doing copy protection (or protecting the rights of music labels).
If you have Apple DRM protected songs, then they will only play in iTunes, on an iPod or iPhone.
You can also "burn" a CD with iTunes, and then "rip" the songs back to your PC as unprotected MP3 files, for example.
Apple also sells nowadays DRM-free music, but I think the songs are more expensive and not all iTunes music is yet available without DRM.

  • Nokia "Bubbles" and SPB Mobile Shell

    Has anyone here tried this:
    http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-bubbles
I'm running the N8 with the full version of SPB Mobile Shell.  I would like to try the "bubbles" application out, but am wondering if having it along with SPB Mobile Shell would cause a conflict.
    Any suggestions?
I've pretty much got the phone to where I like things to be, and I don't have the time right now to fully re-do it all if someting goes wrong.  I assume I can install "bubbles" and if anything gets confused, just remove it, but I figured I'd ask first.

There's no icon for this app. Just lock up your phone and press the menu button.
I've tried Nokia Bubbles on my C7 and it caused problems so, i uninstalled it.
