Nokia 5800: Can I use EU version in US?
Noob question maybe, but I use Tmobile and their 3G will NOT be compatible with either the US or EU version of the 5800. That's OK b/c I really only care about music AND style (I like the EU colors). So, all things considered, ex 3G, will the EU version of the 5800 work OK in the US? Freqs seem the same. Do I need to be concerned with the AC charger? Will I need an adapter? Any other thoughts? Will EDGE work as expected?

in us you only have two choices for gms provider, att and tmobile. you can use your phone without any issues on both. edge is as expected, no major issues take away the slowness. when i used n85 on timo over edge it was the fastest combination ever, faster than n82 and n95-3. i am hoping that n86 or n97 will be just as fast on edge when they finally come out. hope this answered your question.

What other issues are you having? Things like the Crop tool can feel strange at first, but I promise you you'll never want to use Classic mode once you get used to it. -

Updated to 10.6.8 and now safari, system preferences, address book say "can't use this version"
Got a new harddrive in my 2010 macbook pro and rebooted it with time machine back up from a older mac running 10.5.8. I loaded snow leopard 10.6 from disc then updated to 10.6.8 on new computer after restore from back up. Now the Safari icon, system preferences and address book won't open and a box opens saying you can't use this version of the application system preferences with this version of mac os X You have sytem preferences 5.2. or safari says you have safari 5.0.6 etc. How do i update the apps so i can make them actually open. I can get them open in a round about way but not from the icons on my sidebar.
If you have an os on the hdd, why not do a clean install of the os (erase the drive and reinstall osx snow leopard) For snow leopard you insert the osx disk, restart the machine while holding down the c key

You can't install Lion over Leopard. To install Lion, a requirement is Snow Leopard. So you can either upgrade to Snow Leopard first or you can make a bootable Lion install disc and use that to wipe your hard drive and install a fresh copy of Lion.
So to make a disk would require you to purchase Snow Leopard and upgrade to 10.6.8 so you can use the App Store, unless you have access to another computer to download it from with your Apple ID. Remember it is about a 3.4GB download.

I downloaded the OS X version 10.9 and my Iphoto version 9.2.3 will not open. I get a message that I can't use this version of the application I photo with this version of OS X. How do I upgrade to a i photo that will run on 10.9. Do I purchase a new program or can I do just an download?
Check the "Purchases" page in the Mac App Store and see if there is a more recent version there already waiting for you.

I have just bought a 2011 iMac (2.5 ghz, 4gb) and logic express 9, and when i installed logic and tried to run it i had a message saying 'you can't use this version of the application logic express with this version of Mac OS X. How do i sort this out!? It is very frustrating as the main reason i have bought a mac is to use logic! Any help would be great as i am a complete novice when it comes to Macs!

I had the same problem as you. I used Software Update to update Logic Express to the latest version, and then it ran without any problems. -

After updating make sure you repair permissions and restart your computer.

I just ran my updates for my MacBook Pro and now my iphoto won't open. I get a pop up that say's You can't use this version of the applicaton IPhoto with this version of os x. You have iphoto 9.2.3.

Note 1: every day more users are reporting problems with iPhoto 8.1.2 so I've included it in the non compatible category.
Note 2: If your previous version of iPhoto was iPhoto 7 (08) or earlier you'll need to download and run the iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1 application on the library before opening it with iPhoto 9.5.1.

Can't use older versions of Skype anymore?
Alright, so I hate when things update, and usually I just put up with it for new innovative features. I was very content with Skype 5, and the upgrade to 6.0 was frustrating, but I dealt with it. Never at any point during my use of 6 did I prefer it to 5, even as time went on.
Finally, we get to today. I was forced to download Skype 7, and it is the most horrible, buggy, frustrating thing ever. I can barely do anything without it randomly freezing, or spiking in memory usage. I'm using the right version for my computer, my computer is very up to date on hardware, and I've had no software problems with ANY other program to this magnatude. And that's BESIDE the fact that Skype 7 just looks DISGUSTING. The organization of my recent messages and contacts is downright attrocious and I can barely keep my recent replies in check.
The worst part is that I can't downgrade to a better version. After STRUGGLING to find an older version, it just tells me that Skype can't connect. Are you serious? I'm being FORCED to use this useless piece of junk? I've used a LOT of Skype (at least 5 hours a day daily since I got it.) And I think this is the last straw for me. I don't know what to do, I can't use this version, it's terrible.
The question I'm posing in this thread, is how do I use an older version of Skype. If the answer is "I don't." Then I'm uninstalling and never coming back.

Go to Solution.I have the same problem. This morning my skype decided it was time to update itself. Even though (of course), it shouldn't even check for updates or ask me to update. Or at least these are my settings...
However, this has happened before. But before, when skype updated, I could just uninstall it and install the version that I want to (keeping an exe with the proper version always did the trick). The things is that when I tried to install my older version after uninstalling, skype installer says that servers are down. Meaning that skype has stopped working with these older versions. They are now forbidden to install (even if you find an installer somewhere and OldVersion and OldApps have stopped support for skype).
I am seriously considering forgetting about skype and using an alternative. Some people have mentioned the emoticons and the general layout of the new version that disgusts them. But I will also add that the way we used to send pictures over skype is now changed. And it's horrible! Sending a link with the shared photo is just waste of time. You'd need to open a browser, log in, open the photo and download it just so you can have it on your computer (wtf??). Adding to this is the decrease of its quality and resolution and the missing name of the picture.

After installing all of Logic Studio (i.e. install dvd, audio content 1-3, jam packs 1-3), my laptop concludes that everything is installed successfully, however, when going to open to Logic, error icon appears and says:
'you can't use this version of the application "logic pro" with this version of os x'Thank you! I found that just after I entered the question. I reinstalled everything two times, updated software, but was still having issues. But, I specifically updated the 9.1.8 (which was supposedly included in my standard software update). Guess I needed to give it some extra attention and affection.
P.S. - Why do I feel like the more I upgrade versions of OS X, the worse off I am getting or am? Isn't it supposed to be opposite...isn't it supposed to make things better...come on, mac...where you at? mt. lion or mavericks. I'm downloading Snow Leopard to make some programs run. (um, yeah). -

I just installed 10.6 and all seemed well until I tried to load Mail. I got this response
"You can't use this version of the application Mail with this version of Mac You have Mail 3.5".
I successfully reinstalled 10.6 and I also reloaded the apps that were contained in another folder on the CD. I get the same message every time I try to load the Mail program. I deleted the "mail plist" file and that did not work. So I recovered my old one from Time Machine. Still dead!

Why would you "reload" any apps? They should have been installed when you installed 10.6. Where exactly did you reload them from?
So I recovered my old one from Time Machine.
...which undoubtedly still contained the old copy of Mail from your last Leopard backup, and not the current version of Mail that should have been installed with 10.6.
What you need to do is reinstall the appropriate version of Mail from your Snow Leopard install disk. You can install one specific program from the install disk using [Pacifist|http://www.charlessoft.com> - though, check carefully to make sure it's been cleared for use with the Snow Leopard install disk!
Whether that will fix your problem or not, I don't know, as I don't know what exactly you've done. It sounds like you've done a lot of things you should not have done, mixing components of your older system into your newer system. It is entirely possible you will need to reinstall the entire system. -
How do you solve error "You can't use this version of the application Install Mac OS X.app with this version of Mac OS X" when trying to go back to leopard from lion?
Local Mac shop said to hold down "c" after inserting disk to get "disk utility" to come up in order to wipe hard drive. I can't seem to get it to do this.This W7 was purchased for using Fusion, as others did - per reviews from amazon. The technician today called their contact at VMWare - Fusion not officially for use with Lion - even though I read at the VMWare support site that others have made it work. Apparently my setup doesn't work.
Do you know how to do the proceedure for bringing up the disk utility when starting the disk?
BTW, some of the windows applications I want to continue using are Incredimail, Calendarscope, Stamps.com and a few others I have used over many years. What do you use for email and calendar?
Wow, sounds like another reason to not use MS Windows.
Regarding your Disk Utility question, please elablorate I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Disk Utilty is just that...a utility, it's something most users never have to use especially on a new computer. Let me know what you're trying to do there before I give you some instructions.
As for as your Windows apps I would recommend using Mail and iCal, both come as part of OS X and are very robust tools. Don't discount the software built right into OS X it's very robust and powerful not all like the bloatware most Windows boxes ship with. Stamps.com well I'd look for another alternative. It's clear they don't support OS X which makes me a little suspicious that they're so behind the times.
Also if you have not been exposed to these links before I'd strongly recommend bookmarking them and using them. They're extermely useful!

Unless you deleted Address Book 6, or restored from a backup made before you upgraded to Lion, Address Book 6 should be on your disk somewhere. Try to find it with spotlight or by browsing likely folders with Finder. Also check Trash. If you find other Address Books, using Quick View or Get Info in Finder should show the version number.
Have you ever moved Address Book out of the Applications folder, either before or after you upgraded to Lion?
If you can't figure out how this happened in the first place, I would be worried that other OS X utilities are similarly affected.
