Nokia 5800 contacts search problem after phone swi...
Recently bought a new 5800. Used Phone Switch to retrieve contacts from older Nokia, seemed to work ok.
The problem is that ALL NEW contacts added to 5800 memory appear BELOW the contacts list (not sorted) AND cannot be found via contact search. This is very annoying. How can this be fixed?

It sometimes does this.
Unlock the phone, go into the messaging and come back out again.
The "new message" notification should stop now.

Nokia 2730, having trouble searching for contacts, it will only let me search by their first name, anything else is irrelivant.
ie; if I have a contact called 'Bob Smith' and I search for 'Smith' it will not show up.
I think I need this function as I am constantly sending group for organising sporting teams.

In case of S40 phones.. under Contacts settings-->Name display..If 'Last Name First' is selected..then the search is on LAST NAME..but yes, with a corresponding setting it will either search on First Name or Last Name at one time and not have the search functionality of an S60..
@wigwam - Can you explain your problem a bit more ? What comes up when you type 'M' ?..and is it a One Off issue or happens with search for any other contact (e.g. you have a contact called Jimmy and when you type 'J' it doesn't bring his name up)?

Now when I search for a contact in the search list, it uses the regular keypad (as used during message typing) Instead of the alphabetic keys..

Okay - So, I teach photography and have my students print contact sheets from iPhoto version 08. I have one student (out of forty) having the following problem (I have removed preferences, reinstalled iPhoto, used the iPhoto updater for 7.1.5, reloading the printer driver and upgrading the system software to 10.6.8 {I teach in a high school, so no funds for newer software})
The problem is isolated to one student - the others on the same machine do NOT have the same problem. When this student selects more than 5 images, the resulting output looks as if he has taken a screen shot - the palettes on the left of the frame show and the titles he has inserted (using Batch Change) are moved on to the pictures.
At this point, I am going to let him screenshot his submissions, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

I have Nokia 5800 XM with its version updated to V 21.0.025. I had purchased this phone in Jan 2009 and had no major issues till yesterday.
Today when I unlocked the phone I suddenly saw a scrambled greyish display with flickring lines.
I locked & unlocked the phone again, I got back the normal screen. I repeated locking & unlocking to check whether problem still persist or not, unfortunately the scrambled display showed up every alternate time I locked & unlocked the phone.
I thought, restarting the phone will get rid of this problem, but restart didn't solve the problem.
Then I thought of resetting the phone to its factory setting. I restored the phone to its original settings through *#7370# code but it was a futile effort.
I checked about this issue on the web and found that lot of other people are also facing the same issue.

Now after a lot of reading on the web, I feel the display problem is a hardware issue and will get solved by Nokia Care people only.
I am really disappointed with Nokia for such a poor build quality of this phone.
I trusted Nokia for its superior build quality and durability and opted for this phone but it doesn't lived to its expectations.

try to make a full backup of your phone's data and try to do a full factory reset... it might help, otherwise head to the nearest Nokia Care Point

can any one help me.....Take back-up of your data.. and Go for Firmware Update / Re-install..If that does not help..do a Soft Reset by dialing *#7370# followed by 12345 (Default code) when prompted. If you have set your own code..use that instead. Be warned that Soft Reset will erase all data from the Phone memory and Restore will be necessary.. You will also have to re-install some of the applications..

Nokia 5800 Contact Creation Date
Hey Guys and Girls,
I had a bit of a look around but cannot find any answers so hopefully someone on here will be able to help.
I going through a bit of spring cleaning on my Nokia 5800 and want to see the date a contact in my phonebook was created.
Can this be done either on the phone or through the Nokia suite?

MattAFAIK this is not possible, there is no dte embedded in contacts, and many of my contacts are over 10 yrs old and have been on several phones ! If I ever 'clear out' my contacts I just remove people I never call or simply can't remember ! But I really don't think the feature you require exisys, no doubt some technical expert will prove me wrong, hopefully

Nokia N97 Contact sync Problems 83930001

I have problems after hard resetting my nokia N97, it won't sync my contacts anymore. I have the latest ovisuite 3.0.0.290 and Nokia N97 software 22.0.110. It constantly gives the error 8393001.
I even tried to reinstal my Nokia N97 software but then during the instal I get a 12042 Error. So I'm in sort of a loop.
I hope some one has the solution.I guess the installation of Ovi Suite is corrupted, please follow the steps provided below to assist you in this regard
Step 1
- Go to Progam and Features/Add Remove in Control Panel
- Click Ovi Suite
- Click Repair.
Once repair is completed then please restart computer and check.
If Step 1 didnt work, then try the below step
Step2
-Go to Progam and Features/Add Remove in Control Panel
- Click Ovi Suite
- Click Uninstall
Also uninstall the following f
- Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver
- PC connectivity Solution
Then right click my computer, click manage.
- Device Manager-Ports- If you find anything by name Nokia please unistall ( Dont remove anything else)
Then reinstall windows Installer from the link provided below
For Windows Vista and Windows 7

Nokia 5800 XM connection problems
Hello. I updated the nokia pc suite today to version 7.1 and it stopped working with my nokia 5800 Xpressmusic. My phone works still as a mass memory and with the other USB modes EXCEPT pc suite, and I would very much like to have that working too.
When I connect it to my pc with the mass-memory mode on, and go to pc suite with my computer, it shows the phone as connected, until I start one of the applications in pc suite (any of them from the main window) it just tells me in the lower right corner that my 5800 is disconnected, and it's gone.

My contact search function on E71 is ok, just that I can't call out 2 entries in contacts.

As these 2 names's second character is "J" it is also "#" and the first character are also with numbers. That is why the home screen showed

2) 8#
And it gave me the phone numbers which was the 1st and 8th stored on my SIM card contact.
I used to be able to call them without such problem. Only experience this today.
Does anyone know how to turn off SIM contact reading?

DBFirstly, open up each contact in turn and select Options>Play voice tag - this will tell you how the phone interprets the name. As you are using abbreviations, the voice recognition system may be interpreting the text strangely.
It is also possible that the problemis caused by the shortness of the name. Often, it is better to have a full name (eg: Marcus de Bruyn) instead of a shorter form (eg: Marc) because when you say a name with more syllables you give the recognition system more data to work with in comparing with your contacts. -
Searching problem after 10.5.6 Update
Hello everyone, we are having a problem with searching shares mounted on clients from a server.
Prior to 10.5.6 we could search an entire share as well as folders in the share. After 10.5.6 we can't search the share and we can only search folders in the share.
The server is currently running 10.4.11.
I guess what I'm wondering is... are there people with server 10.5 that are also seeing this problem or would upgrading the server fix this search issue?

on the other machines that didn't update to 10.5.6. They are able to search all shares. My 10.5.6 machine can only search localhost and Jukebox ...I ran mdutil on the 10.5.6 machine, here are the results:
$ mdutil -s /Volumes/*
Indexing disabled.
/Volumes/Jukebox:
Server search enabled.

Same problem here, upgraded to 10.5.6 and cannot search our apple server running tiger. Windows shares on 2003 server works fine. Will an upgrade of our Apple server to Leopard solve this issue? Is there an easy way to "uninstall" 10.5.6 without reinstalling the computer

I recently installed the 10.5.6 OS upgrade and I've encountered a problem. I can no longer search my network attached servers - there is no search activity of any kind when I type in search terms. My local search works fine...I just can't search anything on my network ... windows servers. Is there a compatibilty issue between OS X 10.5.6 and Extreme Z-IP? Any helpful tips

One of our users was able to search through our network shares(extreemeZ-ip) just fine yesterday morning, mid morning he updated to 10.5.6 and is no longer able to use finder to perform searches on those shares

After upgrading our workstations from Mac OS 10.5.5 to 10.5.6, we no longer receive Finder search results from our file server that runs Mac OS X Server v.10.4.11.

Nokia 5800 v40 updating problem!

So, I used NSU to my update my Nokia 5800 device, the code is on the list and both Ovi suite and NSU detect the new firmware, NSU downloads the update, then when it says " installing update" ( 15 minutes left ) it asks me to revome the USB connection, restart my device and connect it again, I did that, didn't work, removed the memory card and did it agian, didnt work. it showed the same message, so I used Ovi Suite, it did just the same thing, I thought my USB port has a problem, so I put the USB cable in another port ( I think that solved the ' conneciton has been lost with your device problem' but not for long, till I ran into another problem, " Iternal module error" I searchded for it, and this is what I found /t5/Software-Updates/quot-Internal-module-error-quot-in-NSU-fix-offered-here/td-p/88351;jsessionid=5... I did what's mentioned there, it said "loadlibrary ("regsvr32 C:\WINNT\system32\msxml4.dll") failed - the specified module couldn't be found , any suggestions? Thanks.lol, sorry, "replying" for myself here, the code is "regsvr32 C:\WINNT\system32\msxml4.dll" I use windows xp not NT, so I changed it to "regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\msxml4.dll" which worked for me, now that my USB connection and Iternal Module problems are solved, I will try installing the new update using Ovi suite again, I will let you know what happens, bare with me

My Nokia 5800 XM was imported from DUBAI to India. IT's been around 6 months and my memory card is getting corrupted every now and then. the Firmware is Up to date done by Nokia care here but they dont have any idea why the music files and images are getting corrupted every now and then even after numerous formats . why does the Nokia have no international warranty and such poor products ?? Can someone help me out.
User suggestions that they can try are replace memory card .
Or Hard reset to factory defaults after formatting memory card .
Anything else would be up to the seller of the goods or Nokia .
You would need to take your complaints up with Nokia .
