Nokia 5800 express music monitor "screen" problem

hi all,
i've a nokia 5800 device and i've faced a very serious problem:
when i lock the phone and unlock it the monitor or screen dont appear as previous normally, instead of that shaked colored lines appear, so i can't see who is calling. But the touch is working normally so i can play music or answer calls but without knowing who is calling.
if i switch the phone off then switch it on i see the the screen normally, and when it locked then unlocked the same problem appears again.
i've tried to solve the problem by formatting the device but it is no use
the same problem faced my frien
i don't know what to do, please give me a hand......

I've been having a very similar problem with my nokia 5800 expressmusic.
it started off like yours but then the screen went fully black.
the green, white and red buttons at the bottom work so does the small touch button at the top right.. those lights always come on when i unlock the phone so they're fine.
I know that my phone is still working because i was randomly touching the screen when the phone was unlocked (even though i cannot see anything on it) and i ended up calling somebody. my only problem is that i cannot see the screen at all!!
i've tired turning my phone off, taking out sim and memory cards, putting different sims in and charging it.
nothing works!!
is there anything i can do?
can anybody help me with this?
or is my phone just past its 'use by' date?

It means that you can't update your phone with NSU at the moment.
What country are you from and is the phone originally intended for that country/region?
Is your phone operator branded/customized? If so, who is the operator?
Often with operator branded phones, it takes longer for updates to become available because the operator has to approve it.
And, unfortunately, sometimes the operators do not authorize/approve any updates (it costs them money to do so, I presume).

This will work only if Nokia has released an update for this specific phone and it is an unbranded or unlocked phone. If bought through a cell carrier, Nokia will not touch it and the only solution is to wait until the cell carrier releases the update.

Question regarding nokia 5800 express music

Currently I have Nokia e61, with this phone I can connect my plantronic bluetooth stereo headset. I know my phone doesnt support ad2p but as i listen to audiobooks it doesnt matter. While listening i can write mails, use internet, chat on msn and so on without closing any program, they all run in the background. This phone never stutter or becomes slow.
How does all that work with this phone? I know that a common problem is when you use a bluetooth connection and the phone becomes very slow. I am thinking of buying this one because of the nice musicplayer, internet browser and of course the large memory capability.

jimmy, why are you making up random answers to people's questions yet again? Is misleading people a hobby of yours or are you just plain useless?
It is not possible to copy and paste text from anywhere within the browser. It's a well known and annoying limitation of the S60 browser. Text can be pasted into it from other applications but you cannot copy a paragraph of text from a web page.
@ waspworld: Hopefully a more knowledgable user that doesn't guess their answers can help you with your bluetooth query. I don't use a headset like that myself but I can't remember seeing any major issues posted about it.

I bough 5800 yesterday and i noticed that there is only 3 languages available English,Arabic and something else... Now i need english,german and russian...Is it possible to download language pack somewhere? Or if i change the product code (using software) will it void my warranty? Yes, changing the code will invalidate your warranty - and for that reason they don't let us talk about it here.
Phones are shipped with a set of languages relevant to the countries where they are intended for sale, Nokia does not provide a way for the end user to change this, but a Nokia service point may be able to add language packs to the phone at a cost.

Chinese Language for Nokia 5800 Express Music

I have recently updated my nokia software version from V21.0.025 to V31.0.101 using the nokia software updater. However i notice that my Chinese, Malay & Indonesia languages have all dissapeared.
Can anybody help me please.

Looks like you bought a phone that was meant for another region and the language pack containing Chinese was installed afterwards by the retailer. The retailer should have told you this. When you updated the firmware, the phone reverted back to its original language set. Worst of all, the warranty may not be valid in your country.
Anyway, language packs can only be installed by Nokia Care Points and you will lose it again the next time you update your firmware.

Is there a reliable and trusted download that will enable me to play DivX's on my phone?

Tsup guys, I`m having this new release of nokia s60 5th edition (Nokia 5800 Express Music) but since I bought it last month I`ve started discover some features are not working as I always used to see them to my previous handset (Nokia n73-1). At my previous nokia n73 when I`m on playing music that I`ve store in my handset and then the I receive the sms message its only makes a light beep sound even if I`m on profile that setted another alter tune for sms but in this nokia 5800 when sms comes in the middle of track playback its pause for a time from plyaing the song then start ring the current profile`s sms alter tune then keep on playing the track. On the side of adding sms recipients, if your forwading an sms to more than one person then you`ve started adding recipients by either searching or scrolling you might face some of the contacts doesn`t appear in your list after adding some others even if you do it by search contacts for typing the first alphabets of the recipients you are searching. So in order to get them you`ve to select OK then select the ADD RECIPIENTS again then you will find the contacts that were not seen before. Lastly, on the message writing. When I use the HANDWRITING style, I can write my things well but still up to know I`ve not yet find the area where I can erase the words that I`ve wrotes. Instead I`m supposed to change the keyboard type so as I can get the erease key. Can anybody help me to locate where can I find the erease key when I`m in mode of HANDWRITING style that uses a given special touch-screen pencil. I`m using it which means I`II keep discover many more things that seems these nokia have lack in this model & if there is anybody else found something please don`t hesitate to contribute here too. Problem with Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

Hello. I have a Nokia 5800 Xpress Music for about a year now and been taking great care of it. I don't know why but a while ago it started freezing at times when i would try to turn on the camera..had to multiple times restart the phone and remove the battery in order to make it work (In the open applications menu it would show the camera running but you wouldn't be able to use it). Then i noticed that the two touch buttons it has in the main screen (dialing and phonebook shortcuts) wont work either, no matter how many times i press them nothing happens. Same goes for the Green and Red button on the left and the right side of the phone (Accept/Decline buttons), they won't work either when i'm on the main screen (wallpaper), they do work in the main menu though. I tried resetting my phone to manufacturer settings but nothing happened. What is wrong with my phone? Can anybody help me with it very please?

When you say restored "factory settings" I don't know whether you mean that you backed up essential data then keyed in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by yourself); I would remove any memory card first and see if any difference before restoring device.

5800 express music certificated error

i can't install software to my 5800 express music.the problem is it pop up that certificated expired.....i don't know what happen....

try this back up all data 1st
With the phone switched on, press the power button key once.
Scroll down to and select "Remove E: Memory Card".
Select Yes to remove the memory card.
Press OK and remove memory card from phone.
Press the Dialler on the main screen.
Type *#7370#
Enter security code. Default is 12345 unless it has been changed.
The phone will reset, wait for this to complete and power back on.
Select your country and type in the correct time and date.
Wait for the phone to complete its configurations, you may receive "My Nokia" or tutorial messages.
Power off phone.
Insert the memory card.
Power on the phone.
Wait for the phone to install any pre-loaded content from the memory card
Phone is ready to install applications, without "Expired Certificate" error message

i have a nokia 5800 xpress music mobile phone.
recently, i've been facing an error while trying to change my ringtone from the profiles
when i tap on the screen on the ringing tone tab in general profile (or any other profile), an pop-up tells me the following "not enough memory to display all ringing tones, only read-only memory tones will be displayed"
then, when i tap again , the ringing tones menu open but for sure not listing all of my music files !!
i thought it's a firmware problem, i updated my 5800 to the latest v30 firmware, but the problem still persists.
please, feed me back

take out your memory card and consider the first two options. make sure you have a back up and read carefully
1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345
2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)
3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working.If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. ) For Nokia N97 (unofficial version but works) is SHIFT /SPACE BAR / BACKSPACE while holding the power button. Again do not let go until you see the handshake screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.

N_gage in nokia 5800 xpress music

why nokia 5800 xpress music dont has n-gage but nokia n97 has it and they are nearly to each other and they are from the last phones

After gathering information from various sources I have finally managed to compile a decent guide to install NGage on the Nokia 5800XM using the files which have been circulating the web for the past week.
If you have any questions please PM me on the forum or reply to the topic and I will try my best to help.
Installing NGage
Step 1
Download the NGage Install Package which I have compiled below:

Step 2
For this to correctly work, you will need to have your phone hacked, this should be no problem providing you have a little confidence and common sense. I can confirm that using HelloOX does work as it is the method I used and I can use NGage fine. If you're phone is already hacked with HelloOX and you're having trouble, ensure that all patches (open4all etc. are applied and set to auto using ROMPatcher.
Step 3
Copy the file "NGage 2.0 Installer.sis" to your phone and install it. You will need to sign the file using SignSIS GUI or a similar application, you should already have a certificate if you have hacked your phone as you need to sign HelloOX to hack successfully. The install process will take quite some time and you will be prompted to press "Yes" to various warnings. I can confirm that no harm has come to my phone from this process, however, proceed at your own risk. I take no responsibility.
Step 4
Once NGage has been installed, you will be able to find it under "Applications" on your phone. The icon will be an orange "N" and it will say "Games" underneath. To play NGage games they must be copied to "E\N-Gage" with "E\" being your memory card.
Controlling NGage
Since NGage is designed for phones with a keypad, and the Nokia 5800 is almost completely touchscreen, the controls must be customized. I have so far come up with two solutions, they are as follows.
Control Method #1
This is the most stable and easy to configure control scheme, I can confirm this works OK.
Step 1.
Sign and install "Virtual Keyboard.sis" which can be found in the "Control Method #1" folder of the Install Package.
Step 2.
Run the virtual keyboard application from your "Applications" menu and then start the NGage application. You can use the Virtual Keyboard to control your games.
Control Method #2
This control scheme is still a work in progress but, with some fiddling and a varying degree of luck, you may be able to get it to work. Some people have confirmed it working with different settings. I feel that this setup, if working correctly, would be the best way to control NGage on a Nokia 5800. I would like to request feedback from anyone who has this method working!
Step 1
Sign and install "Virtual Keyboard.sis" and then "Virtual Key.sis", both of which can be found in the "Control Method #2" folder of the Install Package.
Step 2
Start up "Virtual Keyboard" so that you have it running on screen and then proceed to start up "Virtual Key".
Step 3
In the Virtual Key application, choose "Options" then "Load Mode" and choose "Custom Mode 1".
Step 4
Press "Options" then "Add". Highlight "Original Key" and then press the Right arrow on the Virtual Keyboard application you loaded earlier. Then highlight "Mapped Key" and hold down the "Volume -" key then press the "Volume +" key. If all has worked correctly the mapped key should change to "Vol+". Then do the same for the following
Vol+ .................. Left
Vol- ................... Right
No ..................... Up
Yes ................... Down
Camera .............. K
Then press "Options" and save your "Custom Mode 1".
Step 5
Set the Virtual Key application to run in the background and completely exit the Virtual Keyboard application.
Step 6
Start up the NGage application and try to play a game. Hopefully the Up/Down volume keys will control Left/Right when holding the phone horizontally, and the other keys should do what you mapped them to above. You may have to use the volume keys in the same way you had to set them (Hold down Vol- and press Vol+ etc. So now hopefully you can play NGage. Let me know of any other control schemes you guys come up with!
The installer and key mappers are freeware, but you need to purchase the games legally at www.n-gage.com.

Nokia 5310 Express Music - Screensaver, Powersave ...

Hi.
My nokia 5310 Express Music (my software version is V09.42), has suddenly changed.
My screensaver, powersave and sleep mode stopped working. I have everything ON in the settings.
After some time the screen turns black, but I can still see the wallpaper.
And, if I don't use it for a while the keypad stop working too. If I turn it off and then turn on again it starts working. (I use to believe that it was a hardware problem, but the thing is, when the keypad doesn't work, the volume button,and the PLAY does not work too.
I think both of the problems are related, (the screensaver, powersave, sleep mode, keypad) because they appeared at the same time.
I've tried to update the software using the USB cable, I've tried to restore to the factory settings, I've tried taking out the battery, everything and still not working.
I don't know what to do anymore. Can any of you guys help me?

I know that is my fault but i getted some viruses on my nokia 5800 xpress music! I do not know the type of the viruses but all i know is that is eating my memory! Even if i erased all things, i still have at sis aplications to much memori in phone so i have 0 kb memory in C at phone! Can you help me? I tryed to put again the software but i only get a new version on it or the same version and the viruses remain there! Help me please because I started to miss my phone...

Do this:
A hard reset (x6, 5800 and 5230 only) is done by the following (warning, this deletes all data on your phone):
1.) Turn off the phone and remove battery for 5min
2.) Reinsert battery
3.) Press and hold the green, red and camera buttons. DO NOT LET GO.
4.) While holding the three buttons, press the power key to boot the phone up.
5.) Keep on pressing until you see the country selection screen.
A correctly done hard reset would show you that everything on the phone (contacts, messages, calendar entries, etc) would be deleted. So it is advisable to back them up. Upon restoration, do not restore settings or files if possible.
Also, format your memory card. Just make a copy of your songs and pictures on your PC.
