  • Nokia E71 - PC Suite connectivity problem

Hi, I am using E71 since 1 year and use to connect to my LAPTOP on PC Suite. Since One month i am facing problem that the phone is not getting connected to my LAPTOP. Drivers are installed , PC suite upgraded to 7.4.x, checked at Nokia care center, No success.  When I click on PC Suite, it looks for connectivity and gives an error as check for connector drivers. I got my LAPTOP also verified by service centre and confirmed LAPTOP is good with any other device except with this.    Meanwhile If I connect the same E71 with same cable to another LAPTOP which is installed with PC Suite is connecting well and even at Nokia support center it worked with their PC.   I could not find a solution. on how to resolve this. Pl. help me.
I have enclosed screen shorts for reference.  My LAPTOP has 4 USB ports and device is detected and drivers are installed on all the 4 ports.  But it is not detected from PC SUITE.
BUT IF I CONNECT THE PHONE IN MASS STORAGE DEVICE, IT IS WORKING FINE.
Enclosed file is .docx file,   pl. remove .txt in the extension and read.

Problem just solved. I installed Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 operating system and now it works perfectly, so the problem was just that the performance edition operating system caused the drivers not installing properly. But now I have another kind of a problem. I am using the N96 as a modem for Internet. I can only get a speed of approx 45kb/s, while I have got almost 110kb/s with another computer using the same cable. Is it caused because of the USBv1.1 slow USB version? But shouldn't it still be able to do better than 45kb/s, while it transfers files with OK speeds? When I use the Bluetoothv1 USB Dongle, it works with about the same speed but only when using the performance edition, not when using the home original OS. When using home edition OS it works about 5kb/s, but it could have been just temporary. But my main question is, still, that how could I get the speed faster? I have installed the windows KBxxxxxxx patch, but still it works pretty slow, just about half of the speed it is supposed to work.

  • Nokia 5800 - PC Suite Problem

My 5800 is experiencing sync problems with the PC suite.
I set the suite to overwrite all data on my phone it cleared all the existing data off but will not write any to the phone now
This is the error messageI am getting.
Anyone else had this problem? and how do I solve this?
     PC Sync information.
PC Sync has encountered a problem and has terminated the synchronisation.
    Possible Solution
Please check your Synchronisation settings and ensure your phone is in the Idle state, then restart the Synchronisation.

    Hi nitrofan,
If your phone supports create new sync settings in sync settings, create new sync settings for sync, and make sure that while synching your device with PC Suite, no other application is running on the phone, restart your phone and pc and then check if still this issue is happening, if so, do backup of all your data(phone) and make sure that you have the backup, then try to do restore factory settings on your phone.  This restore factory settings can be done as a last step if you dont have any other option to do so, because, restoring your factory settings on your phone will erase all the data on your phone so beware before doing this

When I connect my Nokia 5800 to PC with USB cable and try to send/recieve any data to/from it, the connection fails after 5-10s. All software form Nokia is affected. The latest PC Suite , Ovi Suite, drivers etc. are installed. With Bluetooth connection everithing is more or less OK but from time to time the phone asks for confirmarion to allow access from PC (despite the connection is already established). Looks like the problem with Connectivity Cable Driver (7.0.2.1) ...

    hi guys, hi nokia
kind of same problem here. I installed the PC Suite from the web. When I want to save my data (contacts, sms, settings) via Content Copier it stops after the contacts and I get a message "connection lost".
On the other hand if I use it as a mass storage I can transfer as long as I want.
    SW-Version is: V 11.0.008
    Special-Version:11.0.008.243.02
I wanted to upgrade the firmware but not before saving everything ... but that's not working.
Also software like the Communication Center do not update the data. I'm missing calender entrys, contacts cannot be manage, etc. The software tells me connection is established but well not 100%.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Nokia 6700 USB cable connectivity problem -fixed-

Ok, got my 6700 today. Everything worked like a charm, until I tried to connect it to my PC using the supplied USB cable. I downloaded and installed the latest Nokia PC suite which supports this phone (7.1.30.9) and connected the phone. Vista was unable to install a driver, and the phone was listed in the device manager as 'unknown usb device'. The phone display reported 'no response from host' after plugging in the usb cable.
I searched online for a solution, and tried the following:
    - repaired the install of the Nokia connectivity cable driver: no success.
    - deinstalled the nokia pc suite, ran the pc suite cleaner, rebooted and reinstalled the pc suite: no success.
    - threw away the unknown usb device in the device manager and plugged the cable back in so that Vista would try to install the driver again: no success.
    - tried other USB slots (not behind HUB): no success.
At this point I was so frustrated that I decided to take out the supplied 1gb micro sd card and transfer some data to it using a card reader. When I looked in the root of the sd card, I noticed that there was an executable called pc-suite.exe there, among some other files. I decided to delete those files to see if they were causing the problems, I deleted the following files:
    - autorun.inf
    - launcher.exe
    - pc-suite.exe
    - qf
Replaced the micro sd card in the phone, plugged in the usb cable and voila: connection! Everything worked like a charm.
During my online search I noticed I wasn't the only one experiencing connectivity problems with the 6700. Maybe this fix will help other people as well, that's why I decided to post it here. ;-)
    Peter

Thanks Peter, nice job - same problem, your solution is working. Shame on Nokia - i have so many problems with E52, and now with 6700 - why ? Is it so difficult to make a reliable software ? So disappointed ... maybe Apple is the solution - but after 10 years with Nokia why change with Apple ?

  • Nokia 5800 freezes, needs restart - problem starte...

    Hi there,
I think I have a fairly unique problem, but I hope someone here can help me.
I have a Nokia 5800 which is fantastic, apart from the very annoying problem that the phone will freeze and ultimately crash about 50% of the time when I flick the key lock after it has spent a bit of time on, but not being used (in stand by). I will press a button (e.g. to bring up the dialler, or even just the menu screen) and the phone will obviously register the command (tactile response, and button will highlight), but not respond. If I leave it, it *might* eventually load, but any further inputs are met with the same overly sluggish response. It basically becomes unusable, and I have to switch it on and off again. If I have tried to press too much, ultimately even the on/off button won't respond, so I have to remove the battery. Once the phone is started up again, it's fine - until the same thing happens again about an hour later. As I'm sure you can understand, this makes the phone totally unreliable, and therefore not much good at its core function of being a phone!
This started happening the evening after my number was ported from O2 to Orange. I thought it was the phone itself, so I put the factory settings back on, then updated the firmware, and still I suffered the same problem. I took the handset back to the shop I bought it from, and got it exchanged for a brand spanking new handset today. I got it home and....same problem. V20 firmware was pre-installed on the new handset.
I am now thinking that this problem could be related to the number port - the week and a half before I did this, I had no problems with the phone whatsoever. I just wondered if anyone had any further insight on this, and if it's even possible for a number port to stop a handset working correctly?? Any suggestions or ideas are extremely welcome, this is driving me mad!
    Many thanks.

Hmm. From what you've described, it doesn't seem to be related to the number port/SIM card.
If you press and hold the middle button (menu key), what applications do you see running?
The symptoms you described is quite new to me and I haven't had that happen on my 5800.
My next thought would be something new that's been installed. On both the original and replaced phone, were there applications, video files, or something that you installed after you got the phone? Include applications from either from Download! or external sites.
Does your phone come with pre-installed software from your network, i.e. a network variant? There are variants in the phone software customised to the network's specifications. In general, I find that a lot of major complaints about software issues tend to come from phones which have been customised by networks.
Unless someone else can come up with an idea, you could try the steps below (some of which you tried already, but can always try again):
    1. Reboot your phone: Switch the phone off. Take out the battery. Wait a few minutes. Put it back in and switch the phone on.
    2. Restore original phone settings: It will be under phone settings or type *#7780# in your phone's standby mode. No data will be lost, but you will reset all your phone's settings back to the default.
    3. Hard reset: AKA the 3 finger reset. [not applicable for version 11. It's for 20.0.012 and presumably higher], you do a hard reset with the phone off and pressing the following buttons at the same time -- green "call" key, red "end call" key and camera button.
NOTE: Step 3 will remove all personal content and data added after the original default state. So you might want to do a backup using Nokia PC Suite's Backup application and/or backup to your memory card before you do any of those steps.
Otherwise, you may want to go back to your dealer (if it's still an option) or take your phone to be assessed at your Nokia Service Centre.
"Try not. Do or do not, there is no try."
If you found someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to the post!

  • Nokia 5800 Wi-fi connectivity - No Gateway reply P...

Me & my friend bought 5800. While connecting WIFI i am receiving No Gateway repy where as my friend able to connect. I had checked all possible options with my friends mobile. Kindly help regarding Wifi as what i am doing wrong.

No Gateway Reply for the 5800.
After spending days trying to sort this problem i think I have cracked it. 1. follow the instructions someone posted to enter the phone ip address, should be different to computers ip. then enter subnet same as pc then the gateway ip same as pc. the only real difference with my solution is that you have to enter the dns addresses as well, same as pc .
I am using XP open network connection, select the wireless network, on the left select view statusof this connection, tab will open, select support , then click details and youdns server numbers are displayed.  Enter these in phone setting in.
I am using linksys WRT54GS, I dont have this problem with a netgear router at my friends, that connects streight away, without internal config of phone.
    Hope it helps
was on phone to nokia for 2 hours being passed from one depart. to another. didnt get anywhere.
Below is  the post origionaly posted by dodgydave123
    Hello Guys!
After browsing the net for some time Ive found a fix for the "No Gateway reply" message when trying to access the internet!
Its also fix's the BBC iPlayer! (Atleast it did on my phone!)
I dont know if its already been posted?
    Ok so here goes!
ENSURE YOUR WIRELESS CONNECTION IS SET TO PRIORITY:1 on your n96
1st) On your phone go to..
menu tools settings connection Wireless Lan Options Advanced Settings
    Disable "Automatic Configuration"
    & Disable "Power Saving"
2nd) On your phone go to..
menu tools settings connection destinations Internet
On your wireless network Name (PRIORITY:1 obviously i dont know what that may be)
options edit advanced settings IPv4 settings options Change
all the detais can be copied from your computer. To find them on your computer go to Start Run
Type "cmd" in the run box
when you get the command screen type "ipconfig/all" here you will get all the settings.
The settings the phone needs is
1.Phone IP Address (enter your computer IP address, changing the last two digits to a number about five or six higher than than the original IP, for eg if my IP was 123.654.768.34 id put the ip in my phone as 123.654.768.39 to stop IP conflict)
2.Subnet Mask (copy the same code from the computer to your phone, DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING)
    3. Default Gateway (copy the same code from the computer to your phone, DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING)
    4. DNS Address (Usually called "DNS Servers" on your computer! copy the same code from the computer to your phone, DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING)
ENSURE ALL NUMBERS ARE IN THE CORRECT PLACES BEFORE AND AFTER THE "."
Then exit all, Turn off your phone and turn it back on again! And all should be up and running!!
Hope this helps! I know how much time i spent looking for the fix!

  • N97 - Ovi Suite Connection Problem - Windows 7

    Hi all.
I have N97, firmware version 20.0.019 (t mobile - **bleep** with the old firmware updates.... )
I am running windoze 7 with all updates etc.
I have the latest version of nokia Ovi Suite and the latest version of Nokia PC Suite.
I am reluctantly trying to get used to using ovi suite instead of PC ever since Nokia's update page seemed to suggest I should be using OVi suite with this phone.
Anyway bluetooth connection is working fine. I can do all syncs with everything on bluetooth.
USB connection is not, when the phone is connected, and I select PC Suite on the phone, the phone and PC then get stuck in a sort of loop where the PC is "installing drivers" and the phone keeps asking me to select PC Suite mode.  Occasionally I get an error message saying I am stuck in file transfer mode.
I have also tried this after going into settings and setting USB connection mode to PC SUITE only, with Don't Ask selected.
This is profoundly frustrating and also renders the ability to update phone software totally useless because you cannot update via bluetooth, only USB connection.
I am getting mighty peeved off with Nokia's ability to get firmware, and software products right.  Come on guys, hire some decent developers, and/or start responding to feedback from customers like me.  (I'd happily beta test any software, I've done it before for an online game......!!!!)
I am considering selling my N97 online, and just buying an unlocked HTC HD2 after over a decade of using Nokia phones.
    help!
    R

Amazing that so many have responded to this post, and not one has come close to the right answer... I've had the same problem for a while, and at first I thought it was just my old XP notebook - which had more than one problem - or the general poor performance we've come to expect from the N97. I couldn't even sync on Ovi. But with my new Windows 7 notebook in hand, I was all excited to finally update the firmware on my phone - which had been stuck on v12 for a while. Imagine my surprise when I still had the same problems with my brand-new notebook. I started browsing around for more help than this thread, and found that Nokia has released a software update program seperate from Ovi Suite. Just google "Nokia Software Updater for Windows 7" or whatever version of windows you have, download & install. You might need to kill three "Nokia..." processes in the Task Manager to let it run, because it seems Ovi suite has these processes starting up with Windows. (Amazing when they program applications to do that without your permission!) Why on earth would Ovi Suite need to run three processes on my machine anyway, if I haven't even started up the program after reboot? But still, this program wouldn't connect to my N97 via USB. I clicked on the icon in the system tray showing the drivers installing after I plugged it in, and found the culprit: The installation of the driver for "MTP USB Device" failed. Googled that, and found that there are a lot of people having problems with that, from cameras to cellphones to mp3 players. Tried a few suggestions I found, and ended up having to uninstall all my (brand new?) USB controllers (under "Device Manager") and deactivate Windows Media Player from "Windows Features", reboot, then re-activate Windows Media Player - something to do with MTP Devices getting their drivers from Windows Media Player. Not sure if it was one or both of these fixes, but then Nokia Software Updater connected to my N97 with no problem. Installed the software update, and now all is good again. Incidentally, after the software update was complete, a whole bunch of different drivers were installed when I connected the USB... the main one changed from "Nokia ... Parent ..." something to "Nokia... Flashing..." something - and Ovi Suite connects fine now as well! Good luck to everyone who had this problem - it's been fun.

  • Nokia 5800 - Can't connect to the internet with wi...

I can't connect anymore to the internet with my nokia 5800, not with wi-fi or with 3G and i was able to do it before. When i try to open a page and then i select the connection type it gives me a message "Connection not available" and then another message shows "web: operation failed". I have never changed the configurations to any of the connection settings, so if it was working before why is it not working now? Someone can help me?

    Hi,
Don't know if this will help you, but I think I had a similar problem. Maybe this can help you.
Here's what my problem was, and how I solved it:
    Problems:
    * YouTube stopped asking what kind of connection I wanted, and always connected through 3g, which was OK when I was home, but not good when I was abroad and had access to Wifi.
    * After being abroad using Wifi to connect to Skype, GMail (Google's Java client) and Opera mini I was no longer asked at home if I wanted to connect via 3g rather than Wifi.
This was a problem as I don't have Wifi at my home, and I did not want to connect to my personal email etc through a public Wifi. I prefered using 3g at home as I'm paying a fixed rate to my mobile operator in any case, and don't pay per data amount downloaded.
    Solution:
Removing and reinstalling above programs (YouTube, Skype, GMail and Opera Mini) did not help. Neither did resetting the phone - option 1 in the suggestions below that resets the phone to store settings, but that still keeps all personal data.)
I did not feel like whipping everything on my phone so instead what I managed to solve the problems as follows:
    Under Settings --> Connectivity -->Destinations -->Options --> Manage --> New destination:
    Create a new destination name.
I made one I called Wifi. Then choose an icon from the suggested icons.
Then go into Internet (under the suggested network destinations), and one by one click on all network destinations that are wifi connections and move them to the new Wifi destination that you've just created. This is done by moving the cursor to the wifi point and --> Options --> Organise --> Move to other dest. --> <Choose your newly created Wifi destination>
Once this is done you should have your 3g access points left under Internet, while all your wifi access points are under your Wifi destination.
Now under the Network destinations menu (where you can see all your access points listed e.g. Access point, Internet, Multimedia msg., WAP services, Wifi (the one just created) and Uncatergorised) choose Options again and -->Default connection --> Always ask.
It will now always ask you which connection to use; if you want 3g choose Internet, but if you want to use wifi choose Wifi (the destination just created).
To those who wonder: I always had the settings set to "Always ask". However, in the past because both Wifi and 3g access points where all under the Internet destination I could not choose between them, and after being abroad Wifi always had priority over 3g, and I could not change this priority despite trying to, so I came up with this little hack instead. This works for me. Hope other people find it helpful too!

  • Nokia 5800 not receiving texts problem!

Hi guys Bought the Nokia 5800 about 2 weeks ago and all has been fine with it until recently.....
Ive done no modifications of upgrades or played about with any of the settings..
But now for some reason im not receiving text messages when they are sent??
The only way I can get them is by either sending one, turning my phone off then back on or by going into message settings and selecting view sim messages then the message will pop up....
But I have to do this everytime which is quite annoying! I can do everything else fine....send messages, ring people receive calls etc.
Ive rang vodaphone and 5 times they have fobbed me off with different things to try and none have worked....Ive tried the hard reset and still nothing!
Is anybody else having this problem, or does anyone know a solution to fix it?
    Thanks

I haved the same problem and I think I solved it, and it works (right now and hopefully also in future).
    I have 5800XM with latest firmware upgrade - V30.0.011
THIS IS NOT NEEDED BUT USEFULL
Connect your phone (with phone battery loaded on full) to PC. Make backup of your phone data. Menu START, Nokia, Nokia Ovi, Content Copier
If you have V20 or V21... *#0000#  - select this combination as a phone number to check what version do you have. If you have V20 you can update firmware to V21 via NSU (Nokia Software Updater). All international language versions beside English are corrupt (last week I checked, maybe something changed) so better use English version because it's always latest, fresh etc. ALWAYS read what NSU talk to you on the screen.
If you have already V21, update to V30 you can do only from phone. You must have access to stable WIFI connection (because file to download is something like 5MB size) and phone battery loaded on full. I'm using Polish language so I don't know how it's named in English but... Press middle button twice, go to Preferences, go to Phone and find icon with arrow ("Phone management" or something like that) then phone icon with arrow straight down - this is responsible for firmware update.
THIS IS IMPORTANT IF YOU ARE AFTER FIRMWARE UPDATE (OR IF YOU HAVE BASIC FIRMARE VERSION)  AND DON'T GET NEW MESSAGE INDICATION AND/OR NEW SMS SOUND INDICATION
Press middle button twice, go to Preferences, go to Phone and find icon with arrow - "Phone management" or something like that, then pure phone icon - "Factory settings" or something like that. Some window arrive, click OK. This is not hardcore format, you don't loose anything.
After this operation you will have "clean screen" like straight from factory, so if you haved before little "tuned" screen and overall phone (added phonebook contacts from SIM card, selected wallpaper, different profile etc.)... you know what to do - tune it again. ;PP
I tested it. On different profiles (General, Outside - one hella loud profile on 5800 speakers, better don't use it rooms where silent is needed xD), with upcoming sms when screen was active, with upcoming sms when screen was locked - indication works with the sound!
Turning on/off phone registry logging (incoming/outgoing connections, sms etc.) got nothing to do with solving this problem.
Have hope it helps someone... This is for 5800 but what I see also other Nokia models have the same problem so maybe other users find this post usefull too.

  • Nokia 5800 [ Screen and phone problems]

I got a problem with my nokia 5800 screen,
sometimes when my brightness is bellow 80% 2-3 flikering lines apear wherever i am ( home screen, watching a video, browser, call someone etc.)
when brightness is at 80%  its normal always( maybe of the high brightness i may not see the lines)
however this is annoying and i want to know if i can do anything about it !
on top of that my phones shuts down suddenly on its own  randomly!
the phone is functioning well running app without any problem and watching videos !
    skype

The 5800 is getting on in years now so it's definitely a hardware issue your facing. Your best bet is to visit a Nokia Care Point and see if it's worth the cost of repair otherwise you'd be better off getting a new phone.

  • Nokia 5800 - does it connect to Mercedes SIM ACCES...

I know the S60 operating system includes SAP in its bluetooth profiles, but I would like to be sure the NOKIA 5800 connects to Mercedes in the SAP profile before I buy one.  Does anyone have experience of this?

The N5800 express music connects OK to MB SAP & MB Bluetooth telephone modules.
With the standard BT modue you can make (dial on the phone only) and receive calls but the phonebook will not appear in the car system. The BT module uses the phones aerial so uses battery fast.
The SAP module will download the contents of the SIM card phone book and will record missed calls etc. I have not found a way to make text messaging work, and I have also found that once in SAP mode I cannot access the SIM card memory even when the phone is disconnected from the car.
Connection with both modules usually happens automatically but I have had issues with the SAP hanging and asking for PIN codes. These usually work OK but sometimes I have to restart the phone to make it all work OK. Overall it's a fag and I'm going to look for a better phone OS.

  • Nokia 5800 with terrible slowness problem

I have a Nokia 5800. The device recently became very slow. The simple act of shutting down and restarting (detection range of a local network) take a period of several minutes long. Middle clicking on the menu appears, takes just a long time. What can I do to fix this.
It is important to note that the device is installed version 50.0.005

From what u tell it probably would help formatting it at some point. Note that this will delete everything on the card. Back up first.
Could you answer some of my above questions?
Meanwhile you could clear browser cache. Also an extreme amount of messages could slow down your phone if they're stored on the phonememory.
