Nokia 5800 Screen protector

Hello all,
Can anyone tell me good screen protector for Nokia 5800 to avoid finger print smudges? I have googled but all I found are the screens whcih have to be cut to 5800 screen size. I am looking for screen protectors designed for nokia 5800.
Help appriciated.
Thanks

I recommend those too but they need to be modified as the protector covers the proximity sensor.
Review taken from the Mobilefun site.
Not a bad product with the exception that you need to modify the screen protector itself in order for your phone to work correctly. Specifically, the 5800's proximity sensor does not like being covered by anything, even this thin protector. The resultant effect is that when applied, you will not be able to hold/mute calls etc when on a call as the sensor senses the protector and activates the key lock. Similarly, it means that you cannot see who's calling, as the proximity sensor kicks in as soon as the phone starts to ring. I'm not happy at having to modify what is otherwise an expensive protector but other than that, it works well.

when brightness is at 80%  its normal always( maybe of the high brightness i may not see the lines)
however this is annoying and i want to know if i can do anything about it !
on top of that my phones shuts down suddenly on its own  randomly!

The 5800 is getting on in years now so it's definitely a hardware issue your facing. Your best bet is to visit a Nokia Care Point and see if it's worth the cost of repair otherwise you'd be better off getting a new phone.

  • Nokia 5800 screen

    hi everyone,
i would to know if the nokia 5800 is a scratch free screen or not?

the 5800 isn't scratch proof I'm afraid. It made from plastic and can scratch relatively easily.
I've purchased some screen protectors (six for a fiver online at "jungle river") and they protect from scratches without detracting from the look of the screen.
If my post has helped you in anyway, please press the 'kudos' button.

  • Nokia 5800 screen messing up

when i unlock my nokia 5800 the screen goes really messy and i can't read any thing. the only way to fix it until i lock it again is to press one of the applications, "watch". it started quite a while ago but i thought it might sort it's self out like most of the other problems i've had have... but it seems to be getting worse, now it doesn't even sort its self when i press the app sometimes and it takes a few attempts for it to work.
i don't know what the problem is and what to do to fix it, any help???

what firmware are you running on check and see if you can update
if the problem still continues back up your data and try this
Press and hold GREEN + RED + CAMERA when powering up.
Keep the keys pressed until you get the shaking hands. That should fully reset the device, with a lock code of 12345.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Nokia 5800 screen issue!!help!

hey guys,i bought my nokia 5800 somewhere in december last year.and a couple of days ago,i began to realize that there were moving vertical lines across the screen.the lines are most visible when my light sensor(intensity) settings is set at 75%.it only came to my attention when i hard resetted my phone 2 days ago and the intensity settings was reverted to its default 75%(i've kept it customized at 25% until 2 days ago).the moving vertical lines are less visible in darker backgrounds and at a lower light intensity.i was just wondering-is this normal??has anyone been experiencing this?is there a fix to this?
p/s:this issue is different compared to the previous 'slider+screen lines' issue. the moving lines on my screen is constantly present.locking and unlocking the phone bears no effect whatsoever on the lines.
    Thanks!

I think I am having the same issue as yourself, it just started recently and I just bought it in April. As you stated this is not the other common screen issue where after unlocking the phone those bars show up across the screen. These are thin lines that cant be seen from far away, it is only when you look closely that they become obvious (they just keep moving vertically across the screen). I have a pure black theme on and I cannot notice them but when I use a lighter theme or use any application with any other color it becomes very apparent.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

  • Nokia 5800 - screen hang

I bought my nokia 5800 one week ago. Since the second day I use the phone, I am unable to touch the answer call's interface appear on the screen whenever there is incoming call or rather I shall say, the whole screen is hang.  this problem will disappear after I switch off and switch on the phone but will arise again after a day or two. Please help.

For a start, try to do a hard reset.
Press green + red + multimedia button and turn the phone on. Note that you will lose all your files (which are saved on phone memory).
If it doesnt help, it's a hardware problem and you will have to take your phone to a Nokia Care Point.

  • Nokia 5800 screen error

Hey guys, I have a Nokia 5800 with a weird problem, where the screen appears all fuzzy and scrambled. Usually it goes away after a while or after restarting the phone, but this time it still does that even after restarting the phone many times. I tried to hard reset the phone but it still has the same problem. Does anyone have the same problem? It looks a lot like this: http://www.360east.com/wp-content/nokia5800fuzzyscreen.jpg

    Hi Draco77,
Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.
From what you describe and looking at the screen shot you supplied I would recommend you visit your local Nokia care point. You can find this on the below link:

  • Nokia 5800 Screen Problems After Firmware Update V...

    Hi all,
I have the Nokia 5800 navigation edition. I just updated the firmwareon it from V40. to the latest available 51.2.007. Doing so has turned the phone's screen into a huge mess - the lower half of the screen is all white and the upper half has some weired flickering and the icons(the ones that are visible) are all messed up too and some of them are not responding at all.
Heres what I've done to resolve the problem:
    - remove the battery, memory and sim cards for a few hours.
    - reboot the phone without the memory card(eliminating any corrupt setup files).
    - reinstalled the V51.2.007 update several times using bothe the Ovi Suite and the older Nokia PC Suite updater.
    - tried running the updates on all XP, Vista and Windows 7.
Can you please advise me of any other possible solutions I can try. Is there any way to revert back to the older firmware. The phone was working just fine before the update.
Thank you all for your help.

There is another way to hard reset your phone and it is as follows.
With your phone powered off, press and hold Green  + Red + Camera Keys. Then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping the three keys depressed until you see the Nokia Shaking Hands Logo.
Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
This reset will revert the phone to its out of the box state, so it will revert back to the original version of Maps that came with the phone. However, this should be an issue as you can easily redownload and reinstall the latest again.

  • 5800 : Screen protector damages sensors on touch s...

    Hey everyone!!!
Is it true that putting a screen protector on touch screen phones damages the sensitivity of the sensors on the screen of the phone?

Its not the sensitivity on the screen which may be affected, but the ambient light sensor and the proximity sensor on the top, near the secondary camera. The user's manual even said to not cover them with protectors. If you're really concerned about your protector if it is not compatible for the 5800 sensors, the just cut the protector so as not to cover these sensors.

  • Nokia 5800 Screen Surround

Hello, I wondered if you could help me. I got my Nokia 5800 last Saturday, love it so far, however I was a passenger in a car last night and they took a sharp turn, my phone was on my lap and it went sliding down in between the seat and the dash. Anyway its scratched the surround type thing around the screen. I wondered if there was anywhere I could get a replacement or could a shop like 'Dog n Bone' replace it?
Mine is a red one by the way.
    Thanks

Mine does not want to start after I restore original factory settings I can do anything the only thing I see is the light on three buttons. Please Nokia help us on this phone. You had my trust for the past 15 yrs as a loyal customer please do something.

  • Nokia 5800 screen problems when unlocking

When I unlock my phone, I get horizontal and/or vertical lines - I can't use the phone during this time, because the display is so badly affected!
After about 5-10 seconds, the home screen will show perfectly normal.  When I either lock the phone, or lock it manually, then unlock it a few minutes later the lines come back again!
Is this a hardware or software fault? If it is a software fault, how can I resolve this annoying problem?
    5800 v20.0.012 -- 6500s v9.40 -- 6233 v5.43 -- 5140 v3.13

I have exactly the same fault on my 5800 to the point where the phone is completely unusable.
Used the "Contact Us" facility 5 days ago - still waiting for a reply/acknowledgment.
I bought the phone in mid February so it was quite an early release model, V11 frimware, but the screen fault was there early on but only very occassionally. Had the phone updated to V20 but the problem was still there. However it got progressively worse until the phone became unusable. The screen can only be restored by powering off and on again but once the screen has gone into saver mode it cannot be restored via the unlock button, or any other means other than a power down.
Sent the phone to the Nokia "Anovo" repair centre only to have it returned 10days later with exactly the same fault as I sent it in with. The return advice note stated that details of the repair would be found on the enclosed letter - there was no enclosed letter. The return form states that all phones sent in would be automatically updated to the latest firmware - mine wasn't, even though Nokia notified me 2 weeks previously to inform me that there was an update for my phone.
Rang Nokia Care last week, (Thursday) to be told that someone would contact me by phone, (borrowed phone obviously, as I had stated my 5800 was unusable). Friday and I had not been contacted. Rang again Friday morning 10.30am only to be told someone would contact me. Left a contact phone number again. Friday afternoon - still no contact so rang again. This time I was informed that someone should have told me that I wouldn't be contacted until Monday as thet were all "Very Busy" - I wonder why. Today, Monday afternoon stil no one has been in contact so I suppose I am going to have to go through the whole routine again.
I am very close to the point where I am going to give up and demand a refund for an item that is clearly "Not of Merchantable Quality" or "Fit for Purpose" which would be a shame as when it worked I was really pleased with it. I bought the phone outright so I have no contract redress so am completely in the hands of Nokia. I know that Nokia is a very large company and I am but a single customer but from all the forums I have lookes at since this saga started I am driven to believe that the 5800 is causing Nokia some serious problems.
If I do finally get some acknowledge from Nokia I will inform this forum.

  • Nokia 5800 screen pixelated

My phone touch screen has suddenly become unreadable and has white lines running through it. The phone itself is still working but i can't see what is on the screen. Is there anything i can do other than take it into get repaired? Can it be reset. I have not broken the screen or spilt anything on it. I have taken out the sim and battery and then put them back in but it makes not difference.
    Thanks

There have been people reporting about defective screens on 5800s. Usually a replacement screen does the job just fine (hope you haven't got your guarantee expired). In some cases tho, removing battery for a couple of minutes fixes that.
In any way, if the problem presists (as in most cases), you can try hard reset and FW update. If those are not an options for you, or if they don't work, your screens are to be replaced in order to work properly.
Sorry I could not be more helpful and good luck.

  • Nokia 5800 screen not working atall.

I've had this phone for years and have got some important info on this phone and i really need it back working.
So 2 days ago i dropped my phone from a tall building by accident and the screen is no longer working. When i dropped it the battery came out and nothing else. I put the battery back in and the screen worked for a little bit but there was horizontal lines going across the screen so i turned it off and turned it back on and now the screen shows nothing. The green, white and red lights work at the bottom and the sound works when i turn it on. Even when i tap the screen i can feel the phone vibrate a little as if to say ive selected my contacts for something but the screen is completely blank.
How can i repair this and who do i send it to, to get it repaired.

    @bruceafc
You don't say whether you leave device in Nokia Suite USB connectivity mode as default to allow you to take backup, but you should find location of Nokia Care facilities here:http://nokia.com/support
