Nokia 5800 Software Updater ....

Well I just Bought My Nokia 5800 XM 3 Days Back And Updated to Firmware v50
In that time I was able to See Quick Office.
Today i noticed that the application is missing. So i tried to reinstall using nokia software updater.
It downloaded the latest Firmware. Then i got this Message
My Nokia is connected to back of my pc. So I am assured that it isn,t connected to any hub or keyboard docking station.
Also I tied to change the USB location. but none of the work.
So how shoul i Reinstall the Firmware??????

And i Forgot one thing to mention that i updated the firmware from Nokia Care.

I called technical support for mobile phones, unfortunately it is unavailable according to the recording, i've waited for thinking its a wrong message, but nothing happened the call dropped after the message.
The current software version is V31.0.101 and it does not upgrade. I have tried using my phone options to upgrade/update the software, this did not work, i have tried using the Nokia Software Updater but it can not find the new version of the software, and I have tried searching for the new software version by using my phone code under the battery and still it can not find the new software version.
I need help on resolving this issue.

Done all the reset and the reinstallation oof firmware.

The phone touch screen is not very responsive.
Limited setting/shortcut you can set on the main screen.
Alarm is inconsistent. Sometimes it’s late.
Clock settings/time zone is not working properly.
The charger port on the phone is a bit loose. Charging gets interrupted even if there is only little movement.
Option is to update NOKIAs 5800 software. Current version is V31.0.101, the latest version is V40.0.005.

My mate has the same mobile NOKIA 5800 on a Virgin Mobile plan; he was able to update the software. I got images of his phone and my phone with different versions, mine was the old version his got the new 40.0.005 His mate has the same phone as well, which they manage to update the software. He tried helping me update the software, but ended up unable to update the software and got frustrated.
Option is to speak with TeleChoice Barrack Street. After TeleChoice checked the phone why it will not upgrade they suggested having the phone serviced/checked by Nokia Care in Morley.
I let Nokia have a look at the mobile/issue, they told me they will be able to update the software for me, I left my mobile with them, and after 3 business days and the going back and forth to Nokia, and they were unable to update the software. Very sadly, they said it’s being locked by Optus.
I am using 3 as my provider, the mobile I bought it outright from TeleChoice, no plan whatsoever. So I don’t understand why Nokia said it is being locked by Optus.
The option provided for me is to patiently wait for updates, which is available now or to return the product.
Now I am processing a replacement of the device from TeleChoice 10/02/03, hoping to have the issue rectified. They should rectify this, or there will be a violation againts fair trading.

Actually, it has nothing to do with locking to their network. That's a totally different problem altogether that's independent from the branding.
What's happening here is altering the firmware so that it contains Three's logo and links to some of their services in the menu. Plus maybe a few alterations to maintain compatibility with the network, although they should be minor since unbranded phones will work on Three.
The trouble with making these alterations to updated firmware is that it takes time and therefore money to do it, and they get nothing in return. That's why it's such a low priority for network operators to approve updates.

Nokia 5800 software update

Hi everybody, i've decided to update my nokia 5800 to v50 but im not sure which service to use, either the pc via nokia software updater or the phone over air. Which one is safer and better? Because from what i've read over air the size is at around 9mb but via pc its at around 150mb. I mean the difference is huge. So which one should i update with????????????

Just a little word of warning before upgrading 5800 SW. In v50.005 Nokia introduced a new "feature" which is terribly annoying, to say the least.
You cannot any longer decide if you want to browse a web page in full screen display or not. The built in web browser always automatically switch to full display mode after 10 seconds, and I haven't found any way to make it not do this.
This means, that when you've entered a mobile web page, just when you have focused on the text and started reading, the image "jumps" as the web page is rendered to full display mode, and you have to start all over again...
Even worse, if you quickly have located a link to click on, and commenses to click, as the display switches mode, you find yourself way too often having clicked on something els ethan you aimed for.
This function also diminishes the readability of most major news web sites, when holding the phone in the "cinemascope" position. In the forced full display mode, the text lines simply becomes too long to be easily readable.
At least for me, who uses mobile web surf very frequently, this new "feature" is a real killer. And not in the good way...
Anyone found a way to turn this bummer function off? Or at least revert to an older SW version? Or, do we simply need to flood the Nokia support with feedback and hope for the best in the future...

Need to downgrade Nokia 5800 software version

Hi.
I upgraded my nokia 5800 software version, but after updating half screen has gone blank and other half shows some white line coming and going, i googled and got the solution that i will need to downgrade the software version, my earlier version was v20.0.0.12, now from where can i get this v20 version?Plz help me....

Although any data would be lost you will probably have to try resetting device to "Out of box" state by keeping these three keys depressed RED, GREEN & CAMERA whilst powering on until Nokia "Shaking hands" logo appears.
Have you removed any memory card if present before trying the above?

Just downloaded Nokia N8 Software Update Apps Update 1.0 via Programs -->Programs update but not sure what improvements it will get.

Updating Nokia 5800 Software version

I am having difficulty in updating the software version of my Nokia 5800 Express music. I want to install map installer and heard that my software version has to be updated. I tried *#0000# but it asks me of the server profile. Yesterday i tried through the nokia ovi suit but it could not finish. the versio around 51.... was the one i was downloading. My current version is V21.2.025. Please help me, or even tell me how i can get the previous versions of Nokia Map installer other than v3

Any suggestions?

Nokia 5800 v40 updating problem!

So, I used NSU to my update my Nokia 5800 device, the code is on the list and both Ovi suite and NSU detect the new firmware, NSU downloads the update, then when it says " installing update" ( 15 minutes left ) it asks me to revome the USB connection, restart my device and connect it again, I did that, didn't work, removed the memory card and did it agian, didnt work. it showed the same message, so I used Ovi Suite, it did just the same thing, I thought my USB port has a problem, so I put the USB cable in another port ( I think that solved the ' conneciton has been lost with your device problem' but not for long, till I ran into another problem, " Iternal module error" I searchded for it, and this is what I found /t5/Software-Updates/quot-Internal-module-error-quot-in-NSU-fix-offered-here/td-p/88351;jsessionid=5... I did what's mentioned there, it said "loadlibrary ("regsvr32 C:\WINNT\system32\msxml4.dll") failed - the specified module couldn't be found , any suggestions? Thanks.

lol, sorry, "replying" for myself here, the code is "regsvr32 C:\WINNT\system32\msxml4.dll" I use windows xp not NT, so I changed it to "regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\msxml4.dll" which worked for me, now that my USB connection and Iternal Module problems are solved, I will try installing the new update using Ovi suite again, I will let you know what happens, bare with me

5800 software update

have only just got the 5800. just tried to install the current software update on my computer . it installs and i restart the computer but when i try to open the updater i get an error message saying "NOKIA SERVICE LAYER HOST PROCESS HAS STOPPED WORKING". I went back to the installer and did repair- same problem. i uninstalled all nokia files and then reinstalled the updater- same problem.
any clues?

First of all, the cursing will get you nothing but trouble here. Your posts will be edited and you are less likely to get help.
I´ve had the 5800XM for almost a year and I can´t confirm any of your problems. The reason why you can´t update might not have anything to do with Nokia. Is it possible that you are using a branded model?

Nokia 6234 software update

after updaiting the software of my nokia 6234 with nokia software updater...is impossible sending MMS (the phone autoreset). How is it possible? Before updating software everything was okay even MMS!!

Try resetting the phone to factory settings.
Menu > Settings > Restory factory settings
Worked for my 6233, when inserting images into MMS messages made the phone go back to the desktop.

As you have stated.. the phone is locked to Orange - UK.. You will be able to update only when Orange - UK will approve of that..Since when are you having this phone ? You may contact the Operator in this regard and point out that its almost 2 years old version.. Good if they agree to do that....

Nokia 5800 firmware update! cannot update to ver.2...

I tried to update my Nuked!5800(sorry bout tht catchname,but looks like its going to be nuked anyway after I update, coz of some serious bugs in the newest firmware!) by FOTA, but after searching for update it said no current updates available,I got ver.11 which I sucessfully updated last time from the first version. I want to update to ver.20, but cant.
as I'm located in the middle east, can tht be the reason tht its still not available here? but tht cant b coz its already released here. then how come I still cannot update over the Air??
Any suggestions???

Nokia doesnt provide update by FOTA for v.20 in middle east at the moment. But you can update it via Nokia Software Updater by logging on to www.nokia.com/softwareupdate

Nokia 5300 software update problem

I don't know why, but I decided to updated Nokia 5300 XpressMusic with the latest software from nokia.com.
I think that this was a mistake,
because after the update (using nokia pc suite, fully charged bateryy and so on...) things have changed.
Now, when i use downloaded from internet themes everything is almost okay, but if the top and bottom skin bars are grey for example on phone's desktop they are always blue, with every skin (except installed by default).
And if I use these new themes the icons are becoming bigged for e second and normal after that (in menu), which makes them ugly
And another thing, after the software update, when I go to menu and choose a category the icons inside the category are becomming a little bigger than before, which makes them ugly again, cause they are not made so big.

But it's doable to edit these files yourself. You have to download the "Nokia Series 40 Theme Studio" application,

I've done it myself, and it works. I doubt it's a bug of 3.92 software.
About the logos getting bigger and smaller, again, that's probably a characteristic of the theme (you have to know that icon images are defined within the theme, it's more than only setting the background). If you don't like the logos, probably the theme is to blame, not v3.92
