Nokia 5800 support for 32 gb microsdhc class 4

any body here who knows that will nokia 5800 support 32 gb microsdhc class 4 or not

hmm no i dont think it fully supports it, maybe only in few instances because under the description of the nokia 5800 on the nokia site, it says 'up to 16gb external memory'. Idk if this is written there only because that was the highest memory available at the time of its release?

  • Does the Nokia 5800 support the SU-33W with Mobile...

I have a Nokia N73 and a SU-33W, and I was thinking about upgrading, but according to the Nokia SU-33W support pages very few phones support the device (or DVB-H in general for that matter).
Strangely I found a movie on youtube of someone with a Nokia 5800 that is using it with the SU-33W:
    Nokia 5800 and SU-33W
There is also some mention of this on some other sites:
    daily mobile
But on the Nokia 5800 or SU-33W page on the Nokia site there is no mention of this. Also the Manual of the 5800 doesn't mentions anything about DVB-H compatibility through the SU-33w.
Is this a special kind of Nokia 5800? Or is it just a normal 5800 with updated firmware that added the functionality?

Yes Nokia 5800 does support SU-33W ,go to  http://www.nokia.it/telefoni_accessori/accessori_nokia/tutti-gli-accessori/casa-e-ufficio/adattatori...  it's all Italian as they are one of the few countries who are operating this service, I found the N85 version works with the 5800 ( the N73 version did not) , download the file (sis) that means it's a sybian file (Nokia) now you need to open it to install, the way I done it was to email the file to your 5800 ,open the email click on the sis file in the email to open it and it will ask you if you wanrt to install, click yes, I think when I done it it may have said incompatable I ignored that, so install and hey presto you have MobileTV in your applications you will see the MobileTV  Icon, if you have the SU-33W paired it will search for program  guides for TV  but will find none as they  don't exist in UK and you will see other options like you can check the battery level on the SU-33W from the 5800 (cool) , there are no DVBH service in UK at the moment.hope, this helps you guys

  • Wild card characters support for PreCompilation list of classes in RTSJ?

    Hi
I am generating a precompilation list for methods and classes (ITC.preinit for class is generated and nhrt.precompile for methods are generated). I done this because i dont want the compilation jitter in between the execution..... So i generate these list and load these lists.
Now class list contents are look like following
    java/lang/CharacterData02
    java/lang/CharacterDataUndefined
    java/lang/CharacterData0E
    java/lang/CharacterDataPrivateUse
    java/lang/ConditionalSpecialCasing
    sun/security/provider/X509Factory
    sun/security/util/Cache
    sun/security/util/MemoryCache
    sun/security/x509/X509CertInfo
    java/lang/Integer$IntegerCache
file also includes class name for my application.
I actually want to give wild card character ie " * " with the package name so that it will load all the classes under package mentioned....can anyone tell me whether i can do that or not ....ie RTSJ provides this support or not????
or how i can do that???????????
Actually problem with the existing format that file generated is too long and everytime i add new classes and methods i ve to regenerate the file ...due to this reason i need solution like following
    For Example ---> java/lang/*
Compiler should load all classes under the package java.lang before execution....
    Thanks

Sorry, but no, wildcards are not supported for preload/init or precompile lists.
Wildcards can easily cause problems, and would have to be used with great care. For example, preloading all classes/types in a package could load and initialize them in an order that is impossible under normal runtime conditions and that could lead to initialization failures - which is why the generated lists maintain the order in which things actually occurred. Precompilation is safer but if you precompiled everything you're likely to run out of memory - there are potentially three different compiled versions of each method (for JLT, RTT and NHRT) and a normal run of a program would only compile a small fraction of the methods defined in an entire package.
Regeneration of the lists is presently the only option.

  • Nokia 5800 - Softwares for Mac!

    Hello,
I bought a Nokia 5800. I am so newbie about cellphones.
PC Suited is available for Mac? What can I do with my phone using my Mac?
    Best wishes,
    Gustavo
    Solved!

    @chelsie
There are basically 2 applications for Mac.
    1. Nokia Multimedia Transfer: using this app you can transfer pictures, music, videos and bookmarks from your device -mac and vice versa. Music and videos transfer go through the Itunes library, so this app acts as a path provider for trasnfer.
    2. Isync Plugin: This helps in transferring your contacts ans calendar only.
Both the application can be found here

    All the best

  • Nokia Suite Support for Nokia 301

    Hello
Does anyone know what the official Nokia position is regarding Nokia Suite supporting the Noklia 301?  I'd like to be able to sync music, install any future firmware upgrades etc etc without needing to use a mobile data connection.  If Nolkia aren;t going to upgrade Nokia Suite to support the 301 is there going to be an alternative?

To all members of this board that purchased Nokia 301 Dual SIM here's what you should know.
     1. Nokia Suite http://www.nokia.com/nokiasuite  is practically useless
You cannot backup your messages and contacts . (see attached screenshot stuck at 50%)
You cannot sync your calendar and contacts to OUTLOOK
You cannot choose what SIM you'll send after you compose SMS at Nokia Suite
You cannot backup your ALL your contacts. There is a feature that you can export to CSV but it's not complete. The numbers that are saved in your phone will not be exported via CSV.
Buttomline. Just use the backup feature of your phone. And save it on your SD card. I'm now looking a buyer of this phone. Perhaps I'll just buy a cheap android phone that I can sync calendars and contacts.

  • Nokia N80 support for MSI Blueplayer

    Hi,
I have a Nokia N80, and a pair of i-tech bluetooth stereo headphones.
I have been waiting in hope for about 6 months now that MSI would support the N80 in Blueplayer. on the 17th of June a SDK 3.0 version came out which actually runs on the N80, but sadly it cant play to the headphones - it says "MP3 playback is not supported".
Does anyone know when the N80 will finally be supported in blueplayer?
    Thanks,
    Robert

  • Why have Nokia dropped support for the 808?

It never gets anything, still waiting for NFC payment, Wifi is still borked with no 5ghrz support even tho it was advertised, still waiting for browser updates to make it useful, gets nothing they're putting into their Lumia series.
Why release a phone to just ditch it?
Edit: Oh yeah and the camera is still **bleep** for night time shots, the right hand side of the picture always has this lighter area ruining it.
Not my pictures but mine does the same thing...

Are you crazy? The 808's pictures are better. Sharper no overzealus coloursmearing, no weird edge-sharpening.
In fact the only positive about the 920 is its low-light "enlightenment" . But this unfortunately gives rather unatural looking photo's.
The pictures that you linked to were shot in pitch black outside and Steve clearly pointed out that the scenes depicted were deliberately choosen to asure the 920 would be better. They were to demonstrate the difference of the low-light enhancing technology o/t 920. There's no reason to show them here to demonstrate a malfunctioning camera-module. In fact I can show you pictures that show the superiority o/t 808 (even from that same site).
    e.g.
    Lumia 920  http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/images/bigshoot/920church.jpg
    808PV   http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/images/bigshoot/808church.jpg
    Lumia 920 http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/images/bigshoot/920tesco.jpg
    808PV http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/images/bigshoot/808tesco.jpg
On these 2 examples you clearly see that the 808PV is better then the 920 (and the last scene should have been the 920's territory and yet it fails miserable)
Also the worse experience with software upgrades also happens on Lumia users. Some have the feeling that their camera's perform worse after their latest upgrade. It seems Nokia still FU this process just as any other manufacturer does.
Or do you really think that Xperia users (or Galaxy users or HTC users) have different experiences? the Apple fora are filled with people unhappy about the things that got broken after their last update.
I am glad that Nokia still delivers (minor) updates. I too would like to see Nokia give power users more options instead of removing them. Just like the awfull light grey theme. They should have included BOTH dark and light themes to give us CHOICE! The only thing we can do is ASK Nokia to release the dark theme as a seperate product/download. Or make a suitable theme ourselves. ;-)
the same with all the other options. In fact IMHO Wifi is NOT BORKED, I've never seen them advertize 5Ghz band and as for the browser, it IS very usefull. It's the only one with (limited) Flash support build in (Android has removed Flash support in later builds so who are you to complain) and is quite fast (just disable javascript to make it as fast as the Iphone 4S). That website creators can't build proper websites anymore without stupid javascript is not Nokia's fault, complain to the site-maintainers.
And as for Nokia's Lumia range of devices... they still can't do halve of what a N8 can do, even WITH a "borked" Belle Refresh...

  • Nokia 5800 - 'Mail for Exchange' and 'Nokia mail'....

Ok may be a silly question but while looking through my 'installed apps' on my 5800, since i was thinking of 'clearing some stuff out' to make that little bit more memory on the phone (Currently I'm ~ 3/4 full)
I noticed that although MOST of them (games etc) are already on my memory card there's a few stuck on the phone.
Many I guess can't be removed (such as 'Symbian OS' stuff, 'OVI Maps' or other 'OVI Store' stuff) but what about programs that seem to be 'duplicates' (i.e. seem to do the same thing) ??
Why should I have 2 'Map' programs or 2 'Email' program etc ??
In particular - why should I need to have 'Mail for Exchange' AND 'Nokia Mail' installed at the same time. Both are ~ 1Mb each and both seem to be related to 'Getting Emails onto the phone'
Can't I just stick to one one them - say 'Nokia Mail' & remove 'Mail for Exchange' ??
Doinf so will only free up 1Mb of phone memory, but it'll help - or does one program rely on the other ??
    Thanks in advance
P.S. I've just noticed there's a couple of other programs 'In Phone memory' that seem suspicious.
One is called 'Chinese Lion (164Kb Supplier: QTEL) and the other is called 'Diamonds' (102kb Supplier: WANGP) - anyone know what these are ??
    Motto: Illegitimis non carborundum

Most users don't need both, but each has a different purpose which is why both are offered. Nokia Messaging is Nokia's in-house push mail service available for all consumers (currently it requires a certain type of operator subscription, but I understand that is about to change so that it is open to all). Mail for Exchange is primarily for business users whose company uses Microsoft Exchange for corporate mail.
Likewise, you don't need to Maps apps - GPS-equipped phones always have Nokia/Ovi Maps preisntalled, unless youe phone is an operator-variant from a network which has its own GPS service or you bought the phone second-hand from somebody else, I don't see why it would have another similar application.
For general memory management, this post which I made in reply to another user with memory issues may help:

  • Nokia 6275 support for confrence call.

    Hi ,
I have Nokia 6275(CDMA) handset with me. I would like to know , does it support 3 way call confrencing.
If not then can I do any firmware/software upgradtion for that. I am asking this becoz , CDMA 6275i does support as I have checked phone specification, so I feel firmware/software upgradation may help me .
Any suggestion or help most welcome.
    regards,

    - Can I search the Contacts by number as well as by name?
    No, only by name.
    - From the phonebook (Contacts list) -
    - can I make a call (I hope so)
Definitely. I mean that's what a phone and contact list is meant for!!!
    - can I send sms
    Of course.
    - From the call register -
    - can I navigate to the phonebook entry of the caller (to maybe select another number of the caller to call him back on)
    NO
    - can I send sms to the caller
    YES
    - From the sms register -
    - can I call back the sms sender on the same number
    YES. Steps: Inbox>Open Message>Options>Use Detail>Number>Options>Call
    - can I navigate to the phone book entry of the caller (to maybe call him back on another of his numbers)
Perhaps not, however the second last menu Options mentioned above gives you option to save the number. If you select that, it would ask you to confirm the same if the number is already in the phone book.
    - sms to multiple recipients, simultaneously: how many at a time?
    10
    - Group sms: how many groups can I define? And containing how many max numbers?
16 Groups with 10 contacts each.
    - Does the phone keep giving a continual periodic tone at intervals to draw attention to sms received and waiting to be read? Or does it tinkle just once upon receiving a new sms?
    The latter is true.
    - Can I download reminders/birthdays/etc. onto computer?
    Full integration via PCSuite.
    - Can I download sms onto computer?
    Never tried.

Are you talking about purchasing full-length movies for download?  Here's one site: Amazon.com - you have to download their PC software downloader/player first, and then transfer movies to your 5800.  To get started, go to their download page for Video on demand.
Buy or find free movies, download using the Unbox Video Player, and then transfer to your 5800 XpressMusic.  For help on transferring videos, go here.
BTW, this information is from the promotion that I received when I purchased my 5800 earlier this year - there was an offer for US$50  in free movie downloads with purchase.

How to update the firmware of Nokia 5800 to v21
It is good news that firmware update for Nokia 5800 was released already. New firmware v.21 is available. If you also own a 5800, just follow the simple instruction to update your v20 or v10 to the newest v21.
Make sure that your battery is full (VERY IMPORTANT)
    1. Go to Dial screen and press *#0000#
    2. Press Options -> Check for updates
    3. Connect to the Internet with any APN (WiFi is recommended, however EDGE is fast enough for this). 4. Wait until the download finished. Phone will launch the dialog asking for update, just press Now. 5. Press Accept and Accept and the phone will be switched to Updating mode.
    6. It takes around 10 minutes to update, so be patient. After that, the phone will be rebooted automatically.
    7. Check by *#0000# again. Congrats! Your 5800 is now v21!
As I can see, there are so many improvements and worth to update for example, better camera functionality and the phone operates faster than previous version.
Best Settings for Video Playback on Nokia 5800 Xpress Music
Nokia 5800 as the multimedia phones makes you able to enjoy watching the video and music with it. The question is, how’s to do to convert that videos and what are the best setting used for. I have convert many videos into my phone, I found that most video files can play with this phone such as mp4, 3gp, rmvb and flv files. But of them plays well but some are not. After many tries, I finally got the best results for Nokia video files. My video in 5800 was full screen, high quality and sounds very well. Here are my settings:
    Video Resolution: 480*320
    Video Bitrate: 768 kbps
    Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps
Video Format: MPEG-4 (be sure not to use H264, as it’s not supported in the current firmware)
    Audio Format: MP3
    Audio Channels: 2 Channels
You can apply these settings above in whatever application you used when converting videos into 5800. Then I am sure you will get full screen, high quality and flawless video in your phone.
Settings for video playback on Nokia N97, N95, N85 and other Nokia phones.
Nokia N97: Video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash Video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4; the video resolution is 360*640. Audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
Nokia N96: video playback formats are 3GP, Flash video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, RealVideo, WMV 9; the video resolution is 240*320. Audio formats are AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.
Nokia N95: video playback formats are MP4, 3GP. Video resolution is up to 640*480, audio format is AAC stereo.
Nokia N85: video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, and WMV. The resolution is 240*320. The audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV and WMA etc.
OK, I will not list all settings of Nokia phones. If you are interested you may get more relative information on Nokia official website.
How to transfer video files into Nokia 5800
I have download some videos from video website such as Youtube, Google video. But I can’t watch these videos in my phone. As these videos were flv files, Nokia 5800 can’t play such videos. I use Internet Tablet Video Converter to convert it, but it shows “Unsupported Video File Type”. Then I got to know some best video converter  that seems professional for Nokia phone, I free download its trial version and tried it, and it works very well. Below are what I do:
Click Add button to add video files from your computer, set your videos according to the above settings and select Nokia 5800 Video MPEG-4 format for your video. Then just click convert button to start the conversion. After the conversion complete, you may watch these videos with Nokia 5800.
Also you may get music from video in this way. But pay attention to the format. As Nokia 5800 support mp3 audio format, you should select “MP3 – MPEG Layer-3 Audio (*.mp3)”.
How to convert DVD files into Nokia 5800
Obviously phones don’t have DVD drives, so to watch DVD on a phone you have to convert it into a video file on your PC then drag it into your phone. I also follow the above settings and convert DVD files into MPEG-4 video with Daniusoft DVD Ripper. the results are excellent.
After insert your DVD into the DVD Drive click the Open DVD button to upload DVD files on to this program. Click Settings button to set your videos according to the above settings I listed. Click Profile drop list to select “Nokia 5800 Video MPEG-4 (*.mp4)” format for your Nokia video. Then click Convert button to start the conversion. In few minutes the whole process will completed.
If you select audio format “MP3 – MPEG Layer-3 Audio (*.mp3)” you may also get music from DVD.
To transfer files into Nokia 5800
In the above tutorial I have explain you how to convert Nokia videos from DVD and other video files. Then you need to transfer these videos into your phone.
    1. Make sure your computer and phone are both switched on. Also make sure your 5800 have a memory card in its slot.
    2. Plug the small end of the microUSB cable into the phone’s USB socket, which s under a plastic flap in the top left corner.
    3. Plug the larger end of the microUSB cable into a USB port on your computer.
    4. On your 5800 it should ask which mode you wish to use. Choose “Mass Storage”.
    5. Open the memory card window (probably called “Removable Disk E:”), drag your video files into the video folder.
    6. After finished transfer files, do not disconnect the cable yet. You should make it safe to disconnect the cable. You may do this by click a small icon in the bottom right corner of the screen that appears when the phone is connected.
    7. After you have made the device safe to remove, you can unplug the cable at both ends.
Some useful tips to make the Nokia 5800's battery last as long as possible
Sometimes you may have to stop talking with your friend or watching videos with your phone as low power of your battery. It is more inconvenient if you are in travel and have no alternative battery. Here are some tips to make your phone battery last as long as possible when using telephone.
Do not switch the phone off. As switching a phone on uses far more battery power than simply leaving the phone on.
    Shut down unnecessary applications.
Turn down the 5800’s screen brightness to the lowest acceptable level.
Switch off your 5800’s screen when not in use.
Use headphones instead of speakers when listening to music or watching movies.
Avoid using the camera flash unnecessarily.
    Use 2G instead of 3G.
    Switch off Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi.'

  • Nokia 5800 Social Network and Internet/Email conce...

Having owned the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic for a couple of months or so, I must say that I really like the phone and it has great functionality.
My main concerns/issues however are outlined below:
    1. Facebook for Nokia app is slow, does not show all of the functions that m.facebook.com shows and isn't a homescreen widget (e.g. push notifications)
    2. Communities app is even slower and again does not have the functionality of m.facebook.com and doesn't show notifications at all!
    3. The Nokia Messaging app insists on connecting to 3G all the time, rather than a wifi connection when available. I've also experienced intermittent issues when trying to connect (sometimes it stays offline and even selecting 'Go online' doesn't wake the program up).
    4. Default web browser keeps crashing and doesn't support larger websites (I experience intermittent crashes as well as memory issues). I do not receive such issues in Opera Mobile. I also dislike the defaulting to full screen mode all the time. If you turn full screen off, as soon as you navigate to a different page it goes back to full screen again, therefore increasing the activity on the phone and it takes longer to load the page before you can scroll or click another link.
I think I've covered all of my main concerns but in essence this device really needs better app support and social networking integration.
I would be grateful if I could be given an update on if/when we can expect to receive such support.
If anyone else agrees, please indicate below along with any additional feature requests relating to this topic.
Thank you for your time in reading this post.

    bump
Same issues here, facebook is almost unuably slow (it's quicker to boot up the laptop!)
Messeging will not use wifi and i have a limited data plan so can't use it for attachments.
Web browser randomly exits for no reaseon and the lack of width adjustment is infuriating
Now ovi store's won't let me download!
