Nokia 5800 VOIP SIP client that works!

I have just installed the V Phone VoIP SIP client onto my UK Nokia 5800, and it works very well, "straight out of the box". I have it set up to use my sipgate.co.uk account, and it registers via WiFi immediately, with good clear call quality. Sometimes there is a bit of echo, but generally the call is clean.
So here's a Nokia 5800 SIP VoIP application that does work - I thought that such a thing didn't exist. V Phone are an Australian outfit, found here: http://www.thevphone.biz/Products.html. I bought their Premium version for about £5.50 equivalent of Australian dollars, so it isn't expensive either.
Recommended (and I don't have anything to do with them, if you were wondering).
Tom

Does it really work? My operator requires proxy. Is there an option in the settings to enter proxy server? I went on their website and saw there is only registrar, user and password. Also, when I try to purchase Premium Edition with G729 codec, I get an option to purchase V Phone - s60 - Standard Edition for 8.95 dollars. The price is really good but I wonder if it really works.

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of an instant messaging client that works without a data plan (ie. Wi-Fi only)?
The native GTalk only works with a data plan and a multi protocol one like IMO.I'm only works with a data plan.

the "MSN Messenger" is now called "Windows Live Messenger", and will be retired by Microsoft before april 2013 (source: http://blogs.skype.com/en/2012/11/skypewlm.html ), and your current contacts will be merged with Skype.
Unfortunately, there is currently no Skype client from Microsoft or from RIM released for BlackBerry devices. There are some third party softwares that enable you to benefit from Skype IM, but personally I have no reason to trust them and give them my credentials to skype/WLM.
So for a long-time forecast, I do not encourage you to go through the WLM path.
and about Google Talk, I do not know if using BIS is part of the requirements.
my advice is to ask the carriers in your country if they have a small package voice+sms+BBm.

Hello! I have configured the built it SIP client and the phone is connected to my SIP provider. If I would like to make a call there is no possibility to select "Internet call" instead of a regular call as I could select on my N85. Has anyone an idea how to fix the problem? I'm considering this phone, but the proper SIP/VoIP support is essential to me.
What did you have to install and how did you configure the SIP client (comparing to the same procedure in the N/E-series)?
After you have the SIP client configured, have you tried using it in any way? Is the built-in SIP client a part of the Instant Messaging client as it is in the N8xx/Maemo OS?
    thanks!
Did you not read the thread? There is NO SIP CLIENT. You have to use Fring, or maybe Gizmo5 if they ever get their act together and create an updated client.
In short, there is not SIP CLIENT to configure. Nokia left it out. If you need a SIP client, then this is not the phone for you as Fring has not been released for this phone yet. They are working on it but it is not avail yet.
As you can see, Markus accepted my solution but you are still asking about something that does not exist. I am confused here.

  • VoIP SIP Client

Now I know I'm not the only one seeking the ability to write a snazzy little Flash Application for SIP access. I am, however, the only one willing to start a neat little open source project to help, people like me, use SIP to its full potential.
So here it goes, I'd like (and hope) to write a SIP client for two projects. The first is a for-profit endeavor for the company I work for, and the second is a not-really-for-profit webservice I own that would have its customers benefit from on-site VoIP call. Since they both require the same thing, I'm willing to open it up as an open source project to allow it to continue growing.
    The idea is this:
A list of contacts (unassociated with the SIP client) have phone numbers or VoIP extensions. Click on the call button will activate a snippet of javascript that will communicate with the Flash SIP Client, sending instructions to dial. On the bottom of the screen the flash client will begin dialing, or ask for permission access cam and mic then dial. The sip client must also be able to receive inbound calls being projected to it from my VoIP server. Do all the things needed for a SIP client to do, such as hold, conference, mute, answer, and hangup calls.
So I'm thinking the Flash Client will be a thin, virtually no interface, that will communicate with the onboard javascript. This thin-layer of flash would be invisible, to everyone except a developer maybe looking at trace information. Javascript would instruct the flash client to connect to SIP, establish calls, hangup, etc. Flash would also send instructions from the VoIP server to javascript such as incoming calls, text, sign off, messages... etc.
So what I'm asking you as the community here at adobe for is somehelp. I've been Googling and found not to much helpful in this area.
I know flash can communicate to javascript. I know Javascript can communicate to flash (Yahoo does it for their IM client). I know Flash can communicate with VoIP servers via sip. What I don't know is where to start writing this client. I herd that AIR has an API for such things, that maybe even flash has a SIP/VoIP API, where is it? If I have all this information I'll start a nice open source project on sourceforge, github, or something like that where I hope to get input and offer the very thing I'm looking for to people all over the net. Expand VoIP capabilities so we can truly see inexpensive solutions popping up over the net. With the advent of VoIP integrated telephony should not be an expensive effort.
P.S. - Nothing says that when you sign in that the Flash API and Javascript components don't communicate with each other through another window to keep the SIP client connected. Also nothing says that when the main windows closed it doesn't disconnect the sip client and the user goes on his/her merry way... This IS possible, I just need to put the larger peices together.
    Let me know!

I am definitively interested. Will you contact me at radoslav  <At> everestkc.net.

    Hey Jerrydecarona
Please go to your camera settings and activate Night shooting mode or night portrait mode and Turn on the flash.
If this does not work please perform a hard reset using the code *#7370# security code 12345 if asked, remember to back up first using Nokia Suite.
As your flash is is working during the day, I do not think that this issue is a hardware problem. But if these steps do not solve your issue please visit a Nokia Care Point to take a closer look at your device.

  • Is there a mail client that works with exchange 2003?

my company Exchange is 2003 and neither Outlook 2011 or Mail work. Is there a way to make either of these work without upgrading Exchange? Is there another email client that might work?
    Thanks

OSX's Mail uses the Exchange Web Services (EWS) protocol, which is only available on Exchange 2007 and later.  Outlook 2011 relies on OSX for connectivity to Exchange, so that is why Outlook 2011 doesn't work either.  As stated, if you can get your IR department to enable IMAP, you can get email funtionality.  (No calendar or contacts.)
There is Davmail.  I'm told that it's still a bit buggy, but AFAIK, it is the only thing that would do what you want.  As mentioned by Glenn, I also recommend that you suggest to the company to upgrade the version of Exchange, mostly due to Microsoft ending mainstream support for Exchange 2003 back in 2009 (with extended support only for SP2 for an indeterminate amound of time.)  As a bonus, Exchange 2010 supports Safari for OWA, which is a good indication that Microsoft is at least making attempts at better Mac support.

  • Outlook (former Hotmail) Forum says I need to get a "Mail Client" that works with 10.4.11

    Hello Apple Friends:
    I have a PowerBook G4 still running Tiger 10.4.11.
Unfortunately, due to virus concerns and spam at work, I have had to use non-apple mail such as Hotmail for well over a decade now.  Not a problem!  Mac works fine.  But the folks over in the "Microsoft" (delete that word after reading it) group felt their Hotmail was too old fashioned and jazzed it up and are calling it Outlook now.
And Hotmail/new Outlook no longer works like it did before on the Tiger OSX of course!
After over a month and reading dozens of Emails (about 20 which I sent myself) to various Forums and help groups, the latest "advice" is that I go searching for an "old style" "Mail client" whatever that is.... that will work with Tiger 10.4.11.  And install and transfer it somehow, hopefully without losing or deleting 17 years of contacts and Email, transfer over to using it for my Outlook (I looked at some others who have the great modern Mountain Lion etc OSX systems and read their posts about this and they had significant problems using the new Outlook too.
Problem is, I deal with many very stubborn people who are just not going to spend the time and effort needed to "convert" my "hotmail" address into anything new to replace it, not even counting how many weeks of effort, missed emails messed up communications this will entail and last far into 2014 I'm sure.
The best hope is that someone knows of a "Legacy" site with older mail clients on it (or even older browsers than my Safari 4.1.3 in case someone thinks that is the problem (I also tried it with Firefox, but only can have up to 3.6.28 and TenFoxFour is not highly recommended as it creates unstable computers occassionally)
So I'm caught in the middle trying to upgrade older Mac and without the funds needed to purchase one that has Intel Chip in it for use with something higher than Leopard so I can use the Hotmail/Outlook again.
Sorry for long message, but I wanted to cover all the bases in case someone is searching the data base of the Forum in later months, and hopefully someone else here has has similiar total frustration with trying to continue using the  "M--------" free Email product.
While I'm on the topic, I wondered if the .Mac was an Email client?   I had it once but long ago subscrption elapsed and got notice that it became "mobile me" or something like that....just covering all the bases since Apple has so many more choices.
Thanks for reading all of this complicated (you should only see the other Emails!) question. (sorry products and username are wrong for this message can't get the hang of editing them "before" I think of writing the message!).

    Hi BDAqua:
Just catching up to your earlier suggestions so hope this is not taken as anything less than the excellent advice and fantastic support you have given me here..
I cannot use the current edition of Sea Monkey  2.17.1  as  System Requirements are : 10.6 Minimum, and I have Tiger 10.4.11 max in "non-Intel"  G4
Note also that reading details (I always do)  I cannot just jump to that one if I could or wanted to as too old a Sea Monkey at 1.1.19.  They say to upgrade to 2.0 first, then reset the "profile" page  (does anyone remember my password or even what Email I used back in 2004??)  before moving on to upgrade  (use it at least once in new profile of course!)
So I copied them first here for anyone else's information:
    System Requirements, Installation and Uninstallation
Before installing, make sure your computer meets the system requirements. SeaMonkey 2.17.1 will no longer offer to migrate your data from SeaMonkey 1.x or Mozilla 1.x at the first start after installation (bug 689437). In order to upgrade from such an old version, install the last SeaMonkey 2.0 release first, do the one-time profile upgrade, uninstall SeaMonkey 2.0 and then install your target release (e.g. this one).
You can find more details about installation, profile data and uninstallation in our install and uninstall document.
Here are the specifics of Minimum Requirements of Sea Monkey 2.17.1  version:
    Mac
    Operating Systems
Mac OS X 10.6 or higher
    Minimum Hardware
Macintosh computer with an Intel processor
200 MB of free hard drive space
Older System Sea monkey 2.0 requirements are ::
    Mac
    Operating Systems
    Mac OS X "Tiger" (10.4)
    Mac OS X "Leopard" (10.5)
Mac OS X "Snow Leopard" (10.6)
    Minimum Hardware
Macintosh computer with an Intel x86 or PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor
    256 MB RAM
200 MB of free hard drive space
But.....  Caution signs are EVERYWHERE not to download or use this anymore.....
(I know my 1.1.19 is  really old but so old no one bothers with it anymore??  but newer ones may have huge security loophole for viruses etc....
    Sea Monkey 2.0.14 Warns:
    Released April 28, 2011
WARNING! The SeaMonkey version available for download from this page is outdated and suffers from known security vulnerabilities. This page is only available for historic reference.
We strongly advise you to download the current release instead.
So I'm sorry if I could not follow your instructions and get a better Sea Monkey Experience as well.....  I'm just using existing one as another browser in addition to the newer ones provided as I use them for different purposes, i.e. Sea Monkey can be great for just interrupted "look ups" on google, etc of a quick definition and then closing it, so nothing complicated, no Java/Adobe Flash ads requirements, etc in and out that's all.
Then I can leave my major browsing and using Email Hotmail/Outllook which prompted this whole exploration of solutions for the two brand new browsers TenFourFox and OmniWeb..
Thanks again to everyone!  I replied to everyone below in addition to this reply above to BDAqua....

  • N9 - PR 1.2 - VoIP (SIP) no longer working

VoIP it always worked well. With PR 1.2 when I call it shows for ~15 seconds "Chiamata in corso" ("Calling" in English) and then "Chiamata terminata" ("Call terminated" in English).
No sound, no "tu tu tu", nothing. How to fix this problem?

Unfortunately, if the iOS 7.1.2 has broken the app then it's up to the app developer to fix it.
You can look at the reviews. If the update has broken the app then the reviews will reflect that and you can at least know it's not just you.

  • C3-01 WiFi / WLAN & VoIP / SIP Question

    Hello,
I am very interested in purchasing a C3-01, as I don't want a smart phone, but I like the advanced features this phone offers. Specifically, I want to make use of the VoIP SIP client that comes built in.
My question is this: I will be using VoIP / SIP on the WLAN (Wi-Fi) connection. In another post on this forum, I saw a user saying that Wi-Fi gets turned off automatically when the phone is locked.
So, does this mean that if I've got a VoIP account set up, and the C3-01 locks (either manually or automatically), that the WLAN will drop out and I won't be able to get incoming VoIP calls?
If this is how it works, this is a pretty major oversight, and I will look for something else.
    Thanks
    Solved!

Yeah, Sadly Some Country still have the v05.68 as the latest firware, But the reason might be that the Firmware released in your Country may contain the fixes included in the Latest Firware for Our Country.
So thats ok, If Nokia Finds any fixes to be done then, they will release a new Firware Update for your Country. Be Rest Assured.
    And Buy C3-01.
If I've helped in any way, a click upon the White star to the left would always be appreciated.

  • Nokia 1020 - VOIP options?

I wonder if anybody has done this.
On the 808 I use the built-in SIP function and I use DIDlogic, and it works great (for outgoing calls which is all I want - see separate thread in the 808 section).
The 1020 may or may not have SIP support - I can't find anything clear on google. I found the Linphone app
Generic VOIP sip client finally on WP - Windows Central Forums
which looks OK but it doesn't work on WP 8.1 (it will not save any config, so it is completely useless).
Also, what sort of phonebook integration does one get on the 1020?
My experience of VOIP apps on the 808 is that none of them work really well. Skype was so slow as to be virtually useless, DiscountVOIP wasn't much better (and the SIP provider did not work for some countries in Europe - useless really), and none integrated into the phone. What they did was to import the phonebook at startup (which would take ages) and then everything was duplicated.
Whereas the 808's native SIP integration is perfect, with every phonebook entry acquiring a VOIP option. Does the 1020 have anything like that, where you just set up the username, password, proxy server, reg server, etc, and you get SIP VOIP?
